Hello guys,
I've been using photo contacts 4.01 for pocketpc for like 4 months on my Wizard back when I had WM5.
Yesterday I took aside an hour of my day to upgrade to NBD 8.0 and let me tell you, this thing is slammin.
My concern now is, I love how fast this is, and I know photocontacts is a little memory hog. is there another program that gives me the functionability of photocontacts? I dont use it as a contacts manager, all I like from it is the fullscreen picture caller id. if there's anything like that out there even if it's shareware please help me out with a name so I can give it a try.
I'm even lenient in the subject of fullscreen, if it's not fullscreen but it's relatively big (the picture) I'm fine with that too.
Thanks in advance guys
Flip
and what about touchCube built-in photo contact dialer?
well, that is cool yes, but that's a dialer, Im talking about a caller id.
the default wm5/wm6 is the name, with the operator logo and a tiny little contact pic. Ive used photo contacts for like 4 months and it's a fullscreen picture with a ansewr button and ignore button. I need something along those lines that isn't too bad on memory since Im loving this speed and a memory hog is the last thing I need
you could try Slide2Unlock, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314703
check out the thread's main post, A_C (the developer) elaborates on the new caller ID that he added to the app. I'm running NBD 8.0 like you (and i agree, fast and powerful, how much better can it get?), but only tested Slide2Unlock back when I was on the stock HTC Wizard rom. It was fast back then as long as you kept the reg setting "CloseApp" as 0. I definitely recommend it, so try it out.
thanks a lot man Ill give it a good look and Ill see whats up
EDIT:
I did take a look, I have used that in the past when I made my phone straight up iphone (I know so typical..) but I just foudn it to be a memory hog and now I read on the thread that it does indeed take 5.5 megs of mem.
that's besides the point, reason I don't wanna used slide2unlock is because it does that annoying little slide 2 unlock feature of iphone. I think that is the most ridiculous bull**** on the iphone.. it has a standby button just like our phones do.. why press a little button to turn it on and then slide? way to be dumb apple.
anyway, enough ranting, but that is exactly the style of caller ID I want. that and the large setting on photocontacts are exactly what I want.
Have you tried Inesoft address book. I am using thisfor past 1 year. It gives you a full screen photo as well has lots of other options

very very interesting software. Very good indeed, I really like it. I only wish I could somehow tweak the caller id portion of it, other than that this is one of the best contacts programs Ive ever laid my eyes on.. this is hot!

Hi There. I V Installd The Inesoft Address Book On My Phone And Am Finding It Excellant And Very Very User Friendly. Thank You Guys For That.
Admin Edit: crack request removed.
Any Info Will Be Very Helpful & Appreciated.

Don't think your going to find a crack on this forum. The admins keep it pretty clean. You're on your own. Besides, if its so helpful to you, drop a few bucks to help out the developer and let him know its helpful to you, i.e. legally register.
Got an AT&T Jack and need all the help I can get with this phone.
Hardly any .cabs will run on it and the GPS is locked (tried all the unlock tricks for the BJII).
This really is a nice phone, its just sooooo hindered by AT&T its not funny.
Thanks
I just got it yesterday..loving the phone and all the features ..when you mean the gps is locked ) what exactly you mean..I've been using google maps ,live search, and att navigator and my phone is fresh out the box..
Really, ok theres hope. Trying to get Garmin XT to work. Don't want to pay for att nav, and no data plan. Any ideas there, also gps test cant find the gps device.
And How do I set ringtones? I can't figure this darn thing out.
Am working on the ringtones well how to set my own mp3 ( i tried cutting a mp3 down to 30sec and pasted into my documents and ringtones and it didnt work) i hate the stock ringtones..If am correct i had read somewhere that the gps has to be set to com4 .. I was reading in another forum that they are working to security unlock our phone ( so no more permission not allowed when installing cabs) Keep you posted
Thank you so much, btw what is the other forum, I love forums on phones
Got the ringtones: 30 seconds, under 300kb, MP3, My Ringtone folder works for me.
Jsanta which forum did you see the activities to app unlock the Jack? I tried every possible availible tool also but no luck
GPS is not locked. Both Google Maps and Live Search Mobile worked without any tweaks. Acquisition is nearly instantaneous.
Ringer MP3's are capped by the same filesizelimit registry key (300kb) that was installed on the Blackjack 2.
The problem is the registry on the i637 is locked, so a registry editor is no help. I have dug around in the registry and found the security settings, but I cannot make any changes due to the locked registry. I posted them on the ATT/Samsung forum linked here:
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=samsung&thread.id=70827&page=5
Anybody know how to unlock the i637's registry?
Thanks for that link bch, saw it back a few days ago and it had 2 posts and forgot it. Wow how its grown.
Also could you please explain how to use CHome to do the contacts like yours, god that would help me.
And when I run chome I get errors on alot of things is this normal?
CHome Configurator (CC) will generate registry error messages when you (a) launch it and (b) save changes. Regardless of the error messages, the program runs and the changes do save and work perfectly.
This is how I set up my sliding panel for speed dialing:
Open CHome Config. Then do the following:
Menu > Panel > New, click yes when asked if you want to create a new panel.
Name the panel "speed dial" or something that suits you. The newly created panel wil appear in the list of panels; highlight it then click "show" on left soft button. This makes it visible on the homescreen; conversely, any panel can be hidden from view on the homescreen by clicking "hide."
Click on the panel to edit it. An editing window will open, click Menu > Page > New. When asked, confirm you want to create a new page.
Click Menu > Template > Contact Dialer. Choose contact phone number from your contacts list. If it's not a mobile #, it will ask if you want to enable SMS (text mssg) for this contact. Click yes if you want to use a speed e-mail for this contact. Click yes when it asks if you want to use the contact photo for the contact.
If you are using e-mail instead of SMS, then you need to manually edit the last field on the page which identifies the messaging service. Replace "SMS" with the name of the e-mail account you want to use, e.g. "Hotmail". Importantly, and not intuitively, if you want to use Outlook E-mail, then you need to insert "ActiveSync". Do not get this field confused with the one for the right soft-button, which you might want to change to "Send E-Mail" or similar instead of "SMS."
For each contact, create a new page and format as described above. Then click Done. Then Menu > Exit. You will be prompted to save. Doing so will give you two registry error messages (at least on the i637, it will), but ignore them by hitting OK. The speed dial panel will now appear amongst the sliding panels on your homescreen.
CHome also gives you the ability to change the order that panels appear on your homescreen under Menu > Panels.
Good luck!
Oh, I forgot to add:
When editing the last field to change from SMS to e-mail, you need to insert the e-mail address in the place of the phone number. So, "555-555-555" would be changed to "[email protected]"
Again, you only do this if you want to use e-mail with this contact and not SMS (text mssg).
Thank you sooo much
my phone is locked also
i cant seem to run anything that does not have a certificate or digitally signed.
the phone has a two-tier security enabled. I used security confi manager to verify.
Also i cant get Garmen xt to recognize the GPS.
I tried Ceregeditor and can not change any registry settings.
Thank you for your time,
Felipe

I feel the same way , no data plan or att Nav, why give ATT more money when we already payed for the phone.
Felipe, have you tried Windows Live Mobile and/or Google Maps? Both work with GPS on my phone, but I haven't tested anything else. I know it's not a solution, but if we can track the performance over several phones, we might get closer to a solution.
I can confirm that mine worked fresh out of the box with both of these apps.
BCH238,
Windows Live Mobile is working and it sees the GPS using intermediate driver.
Now if we can only unlock the GPS intermediate driver so that garmin xt can see it.
I had to do this for the blackjack 2 using MoDaCo.SmartphoneGPSActivator.COM4.CAB
but i can not run this in Jack because its locked down. and the cab is not certified.
So far nothing GPS related, except google, live or, att (that have been mentioned so far), will see the gps device.
Is there a way to get google or live to not use data and read maps off of storage?
I cant even get pocket streets 2004 to run. then again it is old.
NOT WORKING:
GPStest
Garmin
tomtom
MS Pocket streets 2004 won't install too old
Argh....
It is a shame AT&T has crippled this so badly. All I want is to make a few modest tweaks that were no problem on my original Blackjack. Oh well, hopefully someone will come up with a workaround to unlock the registry in the not-too-distant future...
no maps off of storage
the only option i found was cache maps on SD card. but it still uses dataplan when you launch live maps.

In the same boat.....
I have the same problem with my Propel Pro....can't unlock the bloomin registry....AT&T is killing me!! I've waited to find a good deal on a wm smartphone that I could tweak and customize but I'm feeling really unsatisfied with this device so far....I've tries all sorts of reg editors and unlock methods to no avail....anyone have any luck yet????
None yet. At&t and Samsung have really locked these babies down. IT SUCKS.
Is there a way to build a cab file out of one that will install (ex. google maps)
with the regestery mods (out of one of the unlocker cabs) needed to unlock the phone. Basically tricking it.
I'm sorry that the topic isn't clear, but I don't know how the thing I want to ask about is called. I've tried many keywords in assotiation with site:xda-developers.com on google and didn't find what I wanted to get.
I'm using prepaid polish network called simplus, one can change alot on his account by using many short codes like *100#, after which SMS is sent to the phone with needed info, or a service is activated/deactivated.
But code *110# should enter interactive thing, which simplus calls ebok. It works even on very old phones with color display, not sure about monochrome, and I'm sure it worked on Tytn2's(Kaiser) original rom.
It's summons white windows/square that has written
"1. something
2. something else
3. something else
etc."
and below there is usual WM field for input, one writes the input and after a second another window opens with new options. It's somehow managed by short codes or short code makros, I'm not sure how to call it.
It makes managing account very easy and should be independent to system, but right now all I get is
"Command sent..."
and then "session terminated" after looong while.
I remember that it didn't work on SPV classic as well. Did work on SPV C600.
I have installed custom bare rom by Witschey, but I believe it's better to ask her, because there's probably many roms on which it doesn't work,
SPB mobile shell 3.5.3(which I for tests turned off) with MobileSense 3.5.2.20091229
SMS-chat that I turned off, but I sed default SMS client to SMS-chat instead of tmail.exe so clicking on icon in SPB gets me straight to SMS-chat(I turned off SMS-chat when trying it, but it was still default SMS client)
and S2U2 2.22.
All other apps weren't running when I was trying it out.
I believe that there's probably some strange cab I have to install for it to work. I probably would find the answer myself if I knew how the system is called, but other than ebok or e-bok I didn't find any other name for it.
I've looked a few times and not seen anyone mention it anywhere so I'll just outright ask
Has anyone created a shortcut to turn on internet sharing from the homescreen?
As this feature becomes more popular I imagine a shortcut for this will sort of be inevitable.
Thanks!!

Seconded
I bet it would be possible via the pinned OEM apps setting in registry, I know thats how Local Scout is added to the home screen via a "first run" trigger.
EDIT:
1.) HKLM\System\OEMPrePinned\(1 .. 8)\ID then set to whatever value MS has set for ICS
2.) Then the PrePinCompleated value should be set to 0 and the phone restarted.
This is a guess based on my searching of the registry.
EDIT 2: I gave this a go changing '2' to the value for Battery Saver and setting PrePinCompleated to 0 and then restarting with no luck.
Perhaps someone with more skill will be able to figure it out.
I guess it is possible, just like Android, only problem is Windows Phone doesnt enable this link function....
wish some1 cud find it out)))
I have a general question for all droid phones.
To make a long story short I have a crazy ex-wife that constantly hacks into my phone. When I get a new phone she tells me the model.
She reads thru my text messages and at times has even sent texts to my contacts.
At times when I open my phone she displays her facebook picture on the phone.
Does anyone know how to stop this???
I heard that droid phones are easy to hack by using something with the email system. If this is true is there any way to stop this?
This constant hacking is driving me crazy. My service provoder will not help no matter who I talk to.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jerry
Yeah get a restraining order... The perfect way to deal with a crazy X. Been there.
You should lock your phone. iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and WP7 all allow you to use a 4 digit code or something else (pattern, password) to lock your phone. Don't tell her what it is, and she won't be able to unlock your phone. I would be surprised if she has the ability to "hack" past that.

Minus, or so I am guessing, she isn't any where near him when she does it...
In other words, the phone could be in his pocket, and she would still be able to hack it...
I've never heard of anything like this being done without physical access or even knowing what model phone the person has, have you? I guess if someone had access to your google account they could remotely install apps through the marketplace.
It looks like she has access to your google account sync to your droid and installed any "spy" app. Try changing your account's password, do a factory reset and don't allow any backup.

If she has his email and password, I can see it possible. But either way if the phone company wont do anything. Then the easiest way is to serve her with a restraining order. My ex was this way and I had to freaking move states in order to get the hell away from her.
Even so she still followed and harassed me in the state I am in. Not in person. Electronically. I just ignored her, and the problems went away eventually.... His ex sound pretty persistent. That gets annoying QUICK! like you start having evil thoughts annoying.
Therefore I say get a restraining order. You may even be able to get a fee wavier if you qualify for it.
Change your google passwords, phone co. account password (if you pay online) lock you phone and any other accounts associated with your phone. Do get a restraining order!

You're missing the point, this crazy woman is his ex wife so there's no way she's putting her hands on his phone but she hacks him anyway from remote !
Your wife is really crazy to do such things! Get a restraining order. Change every account associated with the device. Create new ones. Hope things would definitely change!

sorry but why do not allow any backup? what's the problem with the backup? I was hacked in a similar way and the only thing I did was clicking on a fake video I was tagged on Facebook, which installed a remote access tool. And similarly to the author of this thread, the hacker can now read my whatsapp, facebook, instagram and gallery pictures no matter how many password I change or 2FA. I would like so much to get rid of it.
