Best app/mod/fix to increase speaker volume on S4G? - HTC Sensation

Is there a fix to make the speaker on the Sensation 4G louder? I can barely hear the speakerphone and the alerts are also very quiet. Volume+ didnt work. I am running IC 3.3.4

Does volume Plus work with ICS? My sensation benefited greatly when I installed that app on 2.3.4

He said IC, not ICS. IC = Insert Coin, ICS = Ice Cream Sandwich
I too am having volume issues, mostly the ear piece speaker. Volume+ does nothing for this, but it did help with my speaker phone, media, and alerts. Too bad I dont care as much about those as I do being able to hear my phone, after all, thats what its meant to do, make calls
~T.J.

yeah the earpiece really sucks. Its so hard to understand people when ur outside. Cant believe still no one made a mod for it

If it's a limitation of the hardware, then we might be stuck with it. Hopefully someone comes up with a proper solution or at least a workaround.

I keep telling you guys volume plus works. Make sure you get the pay version and not the free one. I used it with my stock sensation 2.3.4 ROM.
Make sure you use the advanced settings.
1st bar set to 11
2nd bar set to 50
3rd to set to 200
4th bar set to 200
5th bar set to 200
Vol increase set to 0
Bass boost set to 1
echo set to 3
With these settings on the two highest settings you'll not only be able to hear your callers but it'll be extremely loud especially the highest setting. The highest two settings are not only loud but they are crystal clear.
I actually enjoyed talking on my sensation over my jawbone icon. Good luck with the settings & enjoy the new call volume!

Volume of Sensation seems fine to me, ringtone and speaker.
I always use custom kernels and ROM's. Maybe volume level is boosted in one of these? I am not sure....maybe I am just not picky about volume.

Where do you change those? The free version has no provision for the ear piece speaker, does thrpay version add it?

Nope, it does not work

I just tried all of your settings and my speakerphone volume is exactly the same as without Volume+. Good thing the app creator has the paid version for free on his website.

I tried Volime+ payed with those settings.. And my volume is even lower than it was without Volume+. ANd then i realised : "it is not that low (generaly, without volume+).

volume?

I have the XDA 11s and i am very happy with it except for the sound level on ring tone and sat nav
I have the bt hands free plug in lighter but that still is not as loud as i would like.
Is there a way of increasing the ring volume above what is in the volume function?
i have the ring tone at max and if it did not vibrate i would miss as many calls as i receive.
Yes, same problem here!!
I've got an DHD running Gingerbread (non rooted) and I've got just one
not that little problem with it, and it is that I don't really hear when
someone calls me, unless I'm in a quiet place.
I can see that ringer uses only 7 out of the 15 volume points available
(media can use the 15) and I was wondering if there's any app which
would allow me use all the 15 points, so I can hear it.
I've also tried increasing the volume of the mp3 (by amplifying it with audacity) by 10db (it is almost distortional) and you can tell by listening to it on my pc, but when I
transfer it to my DHD I can see no difference at all, anyone knows what's going on!?!
It is not to boost volume with a headset (I've seen apps for that) it is
just to boost is on a usual basis.
Many thanks in advance,
Amaya
Id like to kno too.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
before gingerbread, my DHD didn`t allways gave sound when income text massage. Much better now.
yeah I have the same problem too, but now is much better.

[Q] Volume+ or Equalizer??

Hey guys, I been trying to find a way to boost my volume lvl when watching a movie, the stock volume doesnt seem to be loud enough, my fan in my room drowns out the stock volume when pushed to near max lvl.
So far the only 2 apps that I found have been Volume+ and Equalizer so I wanted to know,
which of the two works best? If you use them what are your settings?
Can you have both Equalizer and Volume+ installed at the same time?
Or are you using a different app?
I currently have Volume+ installed and cant tell if its doing anything.
As far as Equalizer goes, i have no idea what bars to push up so i pushed them all up and that seem to help make my volume louder.
Thanks.

As far as I know, Volume+ was made to work with Gingerbread phones only as stated in the developers market page, meanwhile Equalizer has been officially updated to support Honeycomb tablet screen sizes. I have been using Equalizer myself since the Xoom launched back in February. It worked great then, and now it works even better with the recent Honeycomb UI update!
The best sound output settings would be to drag all of the bars up to +15dB. The bass booster intensity, virtualizer, and the reverb settings would all be your personal preference. It usually won't ever distort the sound in any way, but rather increase the overall system volume by... I'm going to say literally 10 times louder. You'll notice an immediate difference especially while listening to music or watching a movie. Also, make sure that you have the notification bar shortcut option checked as the equalizer can sometimes be shut down by the Android system. Doing so will force it to turn back on automatically after a few seconds time.
Been using this exact setup for months now, and couldn't be happier! Hope this helps.
Disagree with above post. Don't crank up all your sliders to Max. Increase DB means you will get more distortion especially bass. Yes it will be louder. But the audio quality is utter crap. Why trade loudness and throw away the quality sounds this machine can produce? Half way up or less and keep lowest bass and high trebble a bit further back is my Max recommendation for Equalizer app. Heck just experiment and listen. I have both apps. Volume+ was a godsend to my evo 3d. Ended up returning it anyways. The volume increase bar doesn't work the same way on zoom. Also once in a while you have to move certain sliders lower for the effect to kick back in. Overall it sounded fake, hallow, washed out. Equalizer is a way better app for the zoom. You can set profiles and specific files can use different profiles. You aren't losing loudness per say cause it never really worked on zoom like other phones and zoom is already loud. For speaker I just choose flat. All at zero. Better then what zoom had as default.

Hmm.. I have been doing what I said in my post above since I got the OG Droid pretty much since it launched. The Droid maxes out at 10dB. Been using DSPManager on it to drag all bars to max dB. Yes, I know what that means, but with this method you will not be turning the system volume all the way up. It will be much louder, and I have not noticed any quality issues while maxing the dB while my Xoom is connected to my 200 watt wireless speaker system with the subwoofer cranked all the way up. It will cause quality issues if the system volume is totally maxed out, of course. That's common sense, but you will not ever have the need to do such a thing if you simply just adjust your Xoom's system volume properly and accordingly. You pretty much never ever want to max out the system volume if you were to use these kind of heavy settings on an equalizer. Again, common sense.
But yes, that's why there are the adjustable bars for an equalizer. You can change the settings on the fly just as you please. No audio quality loss if you do it right. I'm a tech expert, and that's what I have been doing for years. Wouldn't ever change it because there is no quality loss if you do it correctly, and the sound is ten times louder. Only you can decide what works best for your situation. Thanks!

[Q] Help - Terrible in-call volume

Folks,
On my HTC Sensation, the in-call volume is so low that I can hardly hear the caller. I always have to switch to the speaker.
My in-call volume is set to max.
I think this happened after htc-sync upgraded the OS version to 2.3.4. My wife has exactly the same model but she does not have this problem. Her phone has not yet been upgraded.
I called HTC. They tell me that it is a known issue and to check back with them periodically. A lame answer:-(.
I would appreciate it if anyone has any idea on how to get my in-call volume back.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Regards,
Peter
i'm experiencing the same low in-call volume, so i rooted my device and installed the leaked HTC Sense 3.5 ROM and it's better, but not where i want it to be. i also flashed the TMOBUS (T Mobile US) rooted stock ROM and it has a HAC (Hearing Aid Compatible) feature that significantly boosts in-call volume, but you cannot adjust the volume. it's been my experience that volume boosts can be added to the kernel. i wish i knew how to do that... also, don't know if the source code has been released .... wish i could offer more help!

that's not going to work... you have to tweak the kernel (or some other object) to boost in-call volume. (i would love to be wrong, but i tried that app already)
+1 on vol plus you can also trie mikes revolution 4.1 which is the 3.5 sense leak. volume was a major improvement. developement has just started on this leak but i ran it with no major problems

The APP does not affect the earpiece or call volume. Its only for the speaker and music.
Volume + has boosted ALL volume settings on my phone including speaker. My experience has been
that the app needs to be manually activated as it seems to not start up at boot or run in background.

Root your phone and use volume + or dsp manager. Works like a charm. My volume is LOUD

i agree that the program works with in-call volume settings, or the same setting that you can adjust while on a call. the program does not amplify - or boost - the in-call volume like one can by manipulating the kernel (or other objects) so that it's louder. this type of manipulation is like adding an power-amplifier to a home-theater AV receiver. the net effect: on my Inc S with a stock kernel, my in-call volume setting would be level 4 (of 5). using a kernel with audio boost, my in-call volume setting is 2 and at most 3.

I bought the paid version of volume + over the weekend and actually got it to boost/amplify my call volume tremendously.
My only problem now is my new Anker battery is being drained at abnormal rates as a result from using this app. A 20 minute call costs 20=30% of battery life vs. before the app was installed.
Obviously the CPU is getting a work out just running the app. I would think the increased voltage to the speaker would constitute as some kind of amplification like a home theatre system.
Has anyone else experience abnormal battery life as a result from usning this app?

Good settings for volume+

Hello fellow HTC sensation owners
As you might know, the sound on the sensation isn't very high. That is why you can get the app called Volume+ . With that you can adjust some settings and get higher and better sound. I got some setting that will do that so follow this:
This is in speaker settings.
Speaker Modifications (on(of course))
Virtual room effect (on)
EQ settings ( Good quality)
Volume Level(15)
Bass level(8)
Virtual room (3)
Low: 200
Low/mid: 168
Mid: 136
Mid/high: 34
High: 96
Volume level:15
Bass boost: 15
Echo/delay level: 1
These are the settings, I hope it helped your experience. I've tried it with headset settings as well, and it seems to help. If I helped remember to hit the THANKS button
Volume level 15?? that would be dangerous.. Thanks fire settings.. Will try it ...

Volume + works on my S4G but the app doesn't seem to run in the background at phone start up. I just click on the app icon then hit home button so it runs in the background then, but it does work for me.
I have tried this app before... Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can gather it artificially boosts the volume, it doesn't make the phone properly louder.
When a quiet part of a song is playing the app boosts it, but when something really loud is playing, it stays loud, it doesn't become louder since the hardware is already pushed to the max. This way music gets distorted :\
But if I missed something and this app actually somehow "adds more volume", please tell me, since I could use more volume

Volume+ works fine on my Senny.
I'm working with an older built though. (1.7.3 I think...)
I would play a song, then open Volume+ with the song playing and as you make adjustments in Volume+ you can hear the changes happening. Works just fine for me
I tried your settings so far it hasnt killed it
are you guys having any success increasing in-call volume? Not really working for me on arhd sense 3.0 or 3.5.

Reduce in call volume

Hi
Does anyone know if there's a way to further reduce the in-call volume on the Desire S?
Even at it's lowest setting I often find the volume in a call to be a little too loud for me.
Anyone know of an app to do this or some way to tweak the phone?
My DS is unrooted on stock 2.3.5 (sadly).
Thanks in advance.
Ben
I doubt this would be possible unless you replaced your kernel, even then I doubt any have this feature! Let me know if you do find a way, however!
And I would like to know how to raise max in call volume ?

That doesn't sound right. (Honestly no pun intended there. ) I seem to remember my stock ROM would go down to inaudible levels.
What could be happening, which I have encountered before, is the phone's G-Sensor calibration is shot, so the phone thinks it's always face down, and hence answers all call in loud speaker mode. This would be very loud held to your head!
Try going into: Settings> Sound> and deactivate 'flip for speaker' or something similar to that. (Sorry I'm not running a Sense ROM right now so can't remember the exact phrasing.)
If this drops volume levels back to comfortable levels then re-calibrate your G-Sensor, or leave the 'flip for speaker' setting off.
If not, and you have super-human hearing, the only other options would be;
Rooting the phone and using a custom kernel with volume tweaks
Using earphones with an in-line volume slider.
Stuffing cheese in your ears.
Any 3rd party apps will simply tap into the existing volume controls so I doubt they'll be of any help. You could give Audio Manager a go though....

really? lol, mine is sometimes too soft on max volume n loud areas
Mine is definitely too quiet. I had a T-Mobile branded one but currently runing Endymion on it. I red somewhere on the forum that many T-Mobile branded devices has low max volume settings but I though that custom kernel will solve the problem.
