So i was wondering how to change the I/O scheduler manually all the apps on the market didnt show BFQ even though i know its in the kernel vr is default and the only choices the apps where giving me was Noop or CFQ.
Can you change these manually? Or any apps that include all schedulers?
Also if a kernel has BFS but it is not being used how would you enable it ? Or if a kernel doesnt have it could you add it as say a patch zip in CWM?
It would be nice to set it all up the way i think would work best T.I.A guys

Since you seem to know about schedulers, I'm assuming you have (minimal) Linux knowledge so why not try echoing the scheduler to the block device itself?

(minimal being the operative word) My problem is i understand how it all works but i cant understand half the terminal codes especially on android terminal.
Basics are fine check memory change permissions etc etc but when it comes to specifics theres no list you can look up online.
If i google search android terminal commands it only gives you maybe a list of 25 commands and none that help with this.

Ok found a round about way of doing it using root tools but it doesnt always pick up all available IO Schedulars why is that ? I really want BFQ on my tf101 at the momment i swapped VR for Deadline

Huge improvement but i know it would be even better with BFQ and BFS.
Also ive increased the read ahead on the internal memory to 2048kb which has also helped.
Right now using deadline and deadline shares some charateristics with BFQ which is why i think it would be great.
Ive also changed the gov settings around including sample rate threshold settings etc
Right now its running quick but i really want to find the ultimate sweet spot before icys

Would you be so kind to share with us how you did this?
Also I don't think that BFQ is going to get you too much of an edge over deadline. That is what I use in all the desktop PC's I build with SSD's.

You use BFQ or deadline?
Setcpu for cpu and an app called sys tune for root users for read ahead and a few other bits and lastly terminal and text editor for some vm and build.prop experiments
I really wanted the bfs and bfq because they go well together but even deadline and bfs would be nice
Any kernels for the tf with bfs and how do we get at it if its not default??
Sent from my tf101 using xda premium 1.54Ghz
Prime stock O/C kernel has BFQ yay but it also has SIO ill test both
i tried all the others they didnt have either and when i first flashed the stock prime one it was acting all funny but this time round i cleared all the caches etc before flashing so maybe that helped anyway all i need now is BFS FTW!!!!!

I'm new to the G2x, but not rooting, specifically. I've rooted the phone via NVFlash, and installed the latest Weapon X. I'm pretty much just looking for some general information on which kernels to use. I'm looking for a kernel that will let me change governors. For some reason, SetCPU would not let me select a governor after flashing faux's kernel. I'm not sure which CPU settings to use in SetCPU. I selected the nVidia Tegra 2 as a setting, but it would only let me underclock the CPU, and not select any governors.
A bit of help?
Not sure but our CPU doesn't use governers or something to that effect.

I see. I just came over from the EVO yesterday, where there are so many different governors between stock ones and custom implimentations by devs over there. Now what about being able to overclock in SetCPU?
Since this is a popular topic and since MSNBERG requested that i make this, i have decided to make it.
THE GUIDE TO UNDERVOLTING
What you will need:
PREFERABLY the application Tegrak OVERCLOCK PAID! can also use set cpu
TEGRAK
LOAD THE OVERCLOCK MODULE
go into the "TWEAKS" section and be sure to select DEADLINE as your scheduler!!!
you will see the option "OPTIMIZATION" go there
now you will see 5 levels to customize
ONLY LEVEL 0 CAN YOU CUSTOMIZE EVERYTHING
Now if you only want to undervolt with no overclock here is the chart you need to use ON GINGERBREAD:
UNDERVOLT SETTINGS
level0 - 1000 - 1155 - 1065 -------this level can change frequency but volts need to change as well
level1 - 800 - 1040 - 1035
level2 - 400 - 955 - 960
level3 - 200 - 835 - 950
level4 - 100 - 825 - 930
once you enter these in you can go to tegraks main menu and go into "PROFILE" and you can save your current settings or choose previous ones.
Here are some overclock values you can use for level 0
LEVEL 0 1100 1100 1090
LEVEL 0 1200 1195 1095
LEVEL 0 1300 1295 1115
LEVEL 0 1400 1315 1125
LEVEL 0 1500 1375-85 1150
LEVEL 0 1600 1400 1175-1200
***THIS WILL BE UPDATED WITH MORE INFO SOON
In my best Mr. Burns voice: Excellent!
Always wanted a undervolting guide. Nice!
:C my phone reboots with these undervolt values for some reason. I'm running Valhalla 1.1(haven't has the time to update and don't have wifi so...) and adrenaline shot X. I also have stability checker off so I'm sure that's not the issue. Its fine at first but then rebootes once I start mulititasking like listening to music, texting and getting on Facebook at the same time. Seems to work fine for everyone else so I don't get what's going on

Hi guys,
Sorry for the rookey questions, but :
1. Do I need to install TegraK kernel ? If so, before or after installing TegraK overclock ?
2. Will TegraK OC free version do, or i need the paid version ? what's the difference ?
3. ICY56 - I'm having the exact configuration you have (Valhalla 1.1 and Adrenaline ShotX) can you please explain what changes you noticed regarding battery consumption, and doesn't it affect your phone responsiveness, stability and performance ?
Thanks,
Itzik.
Answers
1) Tegrak will work fine with valhalla, most (if not every) custom rom has the needed kernel already.
2) You need the paid version because free version only allows overclock up to 1.3 you cant adjust anything else.
3) I can't answer as I'm not set up the same, but from my understanding you shouldn't see any negative affects, just increased battery life.
Every time I try to undervolt my phone. It reboots constantly. Even with ICBINB KJ1. Scheduler is set to deadline and governor is set to ondemand. What am I doing wrong?

Well I haven't noticed a decrease in performance and stability. The phone actually feels the exact same. As for bettery life, I can't really comment on that yet since I'm in the process of recalibrating my battery and I haven't been on UV long enough to say but so far battery life seems to be a little better

I've had 1664 mhz before stable. It can ne done, every phone will be different with what voltages work. experiment a little. But I wouldn't go to high, don't want a $500 paperweight.
@ 1.3 GHz, this phone its rock solid, so anything higher is over kill imo.

my cpu speed is only set at max 902MHz for the normal profile, and i'm using the x99 GB kernel. i don't believe i'm using any i/o schedulers :/ i only use setcpu to govern the cpu. i just had to research i/o scheduling when you mentioned it...wanna school me on what that is used for and if it would remedy my cpu heating up lol? thanks for the reply.
No frills cpu or antutu has a cpu control app available free on the market. Both allow you to change your governor and i/o scheduler... Ill get ya a good link about i/o scheds...

thanks again man. i'll look into it a little more!
With x99percent kernel I use "cfq i/o" and ondemand set to 1.2 ghz max and 184 mhz min.
I'm on Sparks' at the moment, sio for the I/O, max: 1.4, min:384, using Antutu CPU
thanks for the suggestions! i downloaded the No-Frills app and set it to "cfq" and so far it has yet to reach the temps it did without the i/o scheduler. once again thanks for all the help!
Glad we could help... That's what we're here for.

I use pegasusq with Paranoid Android + Unter's kernel and It's been working well for me. I only overclock to 1.5 though.
When I use pegasusq setcpu when changing the speed it doesn't work. It'll still use 1.6ghz. Its weird. Ill select 1.3ghz and when I watch the scaling speeds it ramps up to 1.6ghz. Why is that?

Post here for your feedback on what you would like to see in the future for the Lightning Zap! kernel.
I want to know what are the most widely used governors, io-schedulers and over/under clock voltages.
I'll post some of my ideas here in a bit to get things rolling
Does it need any more? Quite the nice kernel, sir. Thank you again for all your help with getting mine up and running. You've been a valuable resource for me.
I'd love to see the badass governor added. Otherwise, it's handled everything I have thrown at it with ease.

Love the kernel sio/smartass combo is what I'm rocking...great battery life and super smooth keep up the great work. It makes it sooo hard to update to a new phone w the battery life I'm getting on my SR w this kernel and w Nibbles ROM. Any chance of you releasing a ROM of your own for the SR. I thought I read somewhere if you found the time you would cook something up for us...definitely would love that. Either way thanks for your hard work and time you put in for SR community we have greatly benefited from you

Running ur latest kernel on this settings: i/o scheduler-noop,interactive governor,OC to 1677mhz and voltage all -50...I get really good battery life and great performance with this settings.

True. But I'm not sure if any of them are necessary for a properly functioning kernel. I know I can get rid of most of them for sure. But not sure about the governor tweaks

Depends on the version, I believe the T11 base was built after October 14th so it should work. Just run a nandroid backup and try it. Worst that can happen is that it won't boot.
Slightly under clocked, noop i/o, interactive. Undervolted 100 across the board. Also running v6 script by zeppelinrox, along with seeder. Vincom superlite v8 with the LZ kernel. Awesome battery life. Thanks for all you do.
