hey prox, can we use this keyboard on sense roms? or do we need a aosp based rom?
You should be able to use it on any ROM. It is definitely compatible with sense ROMs as its even pre-installed on Proxuser's (OP) Runnymede S Port v3.2.

here's the APK for the stock froyo keyboard which I pulled from CM6. you can turn off autocaps, which makes it better than the sense keyboard for me. =D

EDIT: nevermind I might be confused. The keyboard I have has the rounded buttons but I want the square buttons I had in CM6. any ideas?

I've written up a little guide for those of you who want the quick and easy way to get the new Android 2.3 keyboard on your Epic with 2.2. Enjoy!
Requirements
Device must have root priveleges with Superuser
Android 2.2 Froyo operating system
The latest “Voice Search” application from the Android Market
Make a backup of LatinIME.apk in system/app folder just in case if you have it!
Clockwork Mod Recovery
Deodexed ROM
Go to the Market and download Rom Manager to install CWM Recovery
Problems
Auto-correct feature is broken Working in v2
Vibrate on keypress doesn't work
If you are running a completely stock, odexed ROM, this could mess things up!!
Instructions
Download the .zip file provided by Peter Alfonso & Fabolous
Mount your device as USB storage and throw the zip file into the root folder (the main one)
Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery
How To: Get into Recovery Mode
Once in CWM recovery choose to install zip from sdcard
Choose to install the .zip you downloaded in Step 1
Reboot your device! Congratulations!

wont happen till sammy drops code for 2.2 and we can get kernel stuff backported. Regardless of how close the nexus s is, its still different.

I allowed myself to change a bit the ROM CM6 becoming almost equal to the Android version Gingerbread. The base of the ROM is the CyanogenMod 6.1.0 RC2.
CHANGELOG:
* Theme and Icon Gingerbread
* Keyboard Gingerbread
* Gingerbread Browser
* Menu 'phone Gingerbread
* Menu 'contacts Gingerbread
Unfortunately I could not change the market with the new version (but you can 'flash safely without losing data)
UPDATE:
-Added Gingerbread theme with icons Froyo
-Added Gingerbread theme and icons without keyboard

Thanks for getting it to work!!
So does it just use the stock voice transcription or the new ICS version that dictates as you talk?
So what is different about this keyboard? It looks nearly the same...Is this the true ICS keyboard with the features that are to come with ICS?
Is it that much better than the stock one?
Matt
It is the true ICS keyboard with all the features, not sure yet if it had the voice transcription but it has the whole library and everything from ICS.
