9) Let the SGS4G go through the Fugu bootloop a couple of times. This is where your SGS4G gets Rooted.
10) Reboot to download mode once more
11) Close and re-open Heimdall. Click and browse the ORIGINAL zImage (NOT THE ZIMAGE_PATCH VERSION!!). Click start.
12) Let the unit flash, then reboot. Download busybox to verify Root.

pull the battery then do the download command then insert batter while ur still holding the buttons!!!
i've already did that.
just go with the kg4 rom.
but how sir? i cannot even access my phone into download mode.
hey bud, got your pm. sorry i couldnt respond faster, had some family stuff i had to take care of. but regardless, onwards to fixing your phone!
start up odin on your computer and make sure you have the correct drivers for the phone installed. pull your battery out of the phone. then press and hold both the volume up and down keys at the same time. once you do this, plug in the usb cable to the phone and the phone should automatically go into download mode. leave your phone plugged into the computer and place the kc1 rom into pda, make sure repartition is unchecked and click start and your phone should be ok.
for the drivers and overall steps through odin, check out this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001759
for the file to odin, i would say to use kc1, which can be found in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045671
if the above method of getting into download mode doesnt work, check out this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1069032
i know you said that you just want to get your phone working and you wanted to learn more, so this should do that. once you are comfortable with it again, we can work on getting you gb. i hope this helps and let me know how it goes.
did all the methods on how to get in to download mode but still nothing happen, it kept on rebooitng and rebooting via the FuguMod. losing hope to fix my phone.
thanks sir Jager555.
dude, don't panic, it is just a soft break
to go to download mode
1. pull out the battery and disconnect the usb.
2. connect the phone to pc with usb
3. while pressing volum up + down at SAME TIME put the battery in the phone
Yeah, it's just a soft brick, so it's no big deal. Try carefully redoing all the download mode methods. You might've accidentally missed a button, for all you know. Once you're in download mode, everything's good.
Please post in the correct sections. Thread closed.
So, i have been using demonwav's icssgs rom on my cappy. And today i decided to flash back to stock, so i booted the phone into download. Opened odin one click stock, and pressed start. Nothing happened for good 30mins, after that i disconnected the phone. I have gained knowledge that installing nexus drivers would allow me to connect my phone succesfully to my pc, and i did,but odin one click is still not working. I used one click unsoft brick as well, and it tells me that the drivers are not installed properly, i have been doing this all day. I can still get into download mode anytime I want, i just can't get my phone to either flash to stock or unsoftbrick. Every time i press power button I get, Computer--**--Cellphone...PLEASE HELP

Take a look at the items in the "connection issues" thread in my signature.
You may also want to give the Heimdall one-click that's there a try as well.

Questions belong in Q&A.
What i did before this problem
1.used the lg support tool to go from froyo to gingerbead (worked great)
2. attempted to use clockwork rom to install icecream sandwhich based rom (it failed)
What i get now
1.If i turn my phone on like i always would i would get the lg logo, and it would stay like that forever
2. if i try to boot into recovery i get "s/w upgrading"
I contacted lg and they said to send it in and wait 2 WEEKS to get it back and there may be an additional charge
Can someone please help me fix this without going to lg. I just want to be able to use my phone again :'(
run this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590523
I did the exact same thing to my phone the other day. Then install the new rom via clockworld after its done.
But if you installed the 2.3.4 then don't update to any rom besides the kwes 2.3.4 because anything else you won't have audio or anything while in call there is no fix for it yet besides using kdz to downgrade.

you have to use nvflash to snap it out of that... I remember i had it stuck on that for awhile until i flashed the stock recovery/bootloader stuff and then reflashed cwm and then it finally came to
NVflash CWM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
if you're unsure of the APX drivers set-up you have a more basic guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

I don't think you're booting the phone up into cwm the right way.
Lol do this:
Make sure phone is off. While the phone is off hold down the volume down button.
While still holding volume down, hold the power button.
Continue to hold BOTH the volume down and power buttons. When the SECOND LG logo appears, let go of both of the buttons.
And no offense, but if you're not comfortable with modding your phone... you really shouldn't do it or ask someone else who knows what they're doing to do it.

From my personal experiance with the G2x (i thought i had bricked my phone), i have discovered that it is nearly impossible to brick this phone. I had ran the g2x nullifier and fully wiped my phone clean. When I power up the phone, all i get is the initial white LG logo. Luckely, i discovered the following thread that got my phone functional again:

That script is perfectly fine and didn't hurt your phone at all. It states that it will wipe everything out even the rom you were previously on. So when the phone rebooted it stayed on that LG logo because it didn't have a rom to bootup.
At that point a quick battery pull and reboot into recovery was all you needed to do.

Try flashing the stock recovery thru the one click nvflash utility and leave it off for a few min. Then run the g2x batch cleanup tool and see if it then let's u boot into the recovery. (By holding down volume - when hitting power on)

Ok, so then its safe to assume that you rooted your phone first? Then you set up your phone by using nvflash so you can use ClockWorkMod (CWM)? Then booted your phone into recovery and tried to install ICS? If not done in this order then thats your fault. If you did it in this order then you missed something.
A common mistake is trying to install a ROM via CWM while the phone is running. When you do this the phone restarts and gives you the error triangle with android underneath it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985 Tells you how to do as well as provides links to everything it doesn't.
As for recovery they provisded the right link. Follow it to the "T" and you'll be ok.

But the key issue was that CWM recovery was destroyed as well after nullifing thus leaving me in a stand still to do something. nvflash was the only thing left to recover the phone at that point which worked very well.
There is pretty much no way that after running either the One-Click or Cleanup Batch that he can't get the phone into CWM unless there is a hardware problem. This most likely means that the problem isn't with the scripts or phone, but with the procedure he is attempting.
Even if nullifier (which I don't think is of much use here) had wiped all partitions, the NVFlash will still pop you out of it and leave you with a working CWM.
So keep reading and keep watching videos of how to do it and make sure your drivers are correct. READ a bunch first.
And remember that he got here due to an LG software problem or issue with operation, not from trying to flash as a noob, so he knows he's in over his head right now.
Remember, we all had to start swimming somewhere and it usually wasn't pretty at first. Mine was a corrupted Motorola RAZR.
It appears that this is an older post, but if you are still having this issue, then maybe I can help. If anyone else finds this later, hopefully it helps them as well. I just did something similar and I thought I was screwed. I rooted my phone, installed a ROM (Hellfire... nice ROM BTW), then I got the nullifier. I installed the ROM before I ran the nullifier because I wanted to make sure the ROM worked. However, after running the nullifier, the ROM didn't work.
The only thing that I could get to show was the LG logo at the startup... no second logo (Blue LG), no SW upgrade... NOTHING. The phone wouldn't do anything else. Luckily, I wasn't the first to have this issue and they found the solution...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
Since you have already done other steps, I am assuming that you already have the drivers installed. So, the only thing you should need to do is download the ROM then install it by clicking flash.bat. The instructions on the page are pretty easy to follow.
No need to deal with the NvFlash until AFTER you do the above procedure. You will need to run it again after the above procedure because it puts it back in the original state (pretty much). The NvFlash will give you the superuser and Clockmod back. You should be good to go after that.
There is no way u can brick the g2x......even if u wanted to.........keep messing around

I believe Rom Toolbox isn't good for much, if anything. I'm not sure why changing or downloading themes in this app could cause you to bootloop, but if it has you need to run a 'return to stock' 2.3.5 script by booting into AP Fastboot or use RSD Lite. OTA update to 2.3.6, re-root, and you should be good.
Everything you need to know is found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Also, going forward, ALWAYS make a CWM Backup before doing anything, like flashing roms or experimenting with root apps.

There is no reason why the aforementioned suggestion shouldn't have worked. Couple things to keep in mind:
Do you have a fully charged battery when doing all this?
Do you have the Motorola USB drivers installed?
Did you DL the proper fxz for your phone?
Make sure you boot into fast boot by holding up on the volume rocker, and then holding the power button down.
Attach your USB cable to the BACK of your com, and follow the instructions listed out in the link in the post above.
Follow them exactly!

Before using the restore script you need to install the USB drivers for your MB865 (If this your model A2), you can get those from HERE:
Next, unzip the Return to Stock 2.3.5 Fastboot SCRIPT.zip to anywhere you like in your pc (example: C:\RestoreScript\ ) The script can be downloaded HERE:
Then, connect your phone with the USB cable to the PC and get into FastBoot mode for this in your phone by pressing and holding down the volume down & volume up & power at the same time. It should appear with a screen and some options; use the volume down key of your phone to navigate through the menu until you see the AP FastBoot option, then enter by pressing the volume up key, this will show you some messages and the finally it should said USB connected.
Then open the folder where you extracted the Return to Stock 2.3.5 FastBoot SCRIPT files and search a .bat file call "Stock Restore" - should be toward the bottom of the files in this folder. Then run the file (double click on it) and it should open a command prompt screen with some instructions if the phone is connected correctly and you installed the drivers correctly then in some point the screen will show you the ID of your device and it will wait you to press the enter key to start the process. Press any key to enter and wait for the process to begin to program. Then, after some time the command prompt window will give you a message saying its finished. After that, it will reboot your phone and install the stock 2.3.5. When it boots up again, you should see the android logo and a progress bar filling up.
When it's done wait for the device to reboot again, and after that you can OTA (Over-The-Air) update to Android version 2.3.6. by navigating in your device to Settings/About Phone/System Updates.
Hope this helps.

Also, install CWM on boot!
This way your phone ALWAYS boots into recovery on initial start up. Saved me too many times to count.

Never mind my last post, you need to be able to boot into a rom to use kdz updater, it's been a while since I had to do this kind of thing.
I'm pretty sure you only soft bricked your phone (i.e. it still turns on) and the only way, that I know of, is to use nvflash. I've had the same problem before, there could be many things that are causing the phone to not be recognized by your computer. Follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17258229
when you plug the usb into your phone make sure the audio on you computer is loud enough for you to hear that "usb recognized" sound. If you don't hear it, or it does not get recognized, try using a different usb port on your computer, believe me that actually worked for me a couple of times. Also, make sure you follow the steps very carefully because if you use the wrong button combination, or release the buttons too early, it won't work.
I wish I could help you more, but that's all i've got.
Good luck, and if by any chance you get it fixed, don't try to root your phone using any root tools, simply nvflash cwm recovery and flash your choice of a custom rom, that will automatically give you root privileges.

Good luck, and if by any chance you get it fixed, don't try to root your phone using any root tools, simply nvflash cwm recovery and flash your choice of a custom rom, that will automatically give you root privileges.

every time i look at my apx driver it always tells me to troubleshoot but it always says driver not installed. ive downloaded the same driver in different posts just to make sure but nothing helps. Wireless shops are useless. I live in vegas and there isnt a single store with a person smart enough to figure it out.lol. ive given my phone up for days at a time to shops who brag about "WE CAN FIX ANYTHING" they lied. well i guess im going to search for a few more hours on here to get some kind of lead. thanks for the help. if you kknow anything else or figure something out i would appreciate the help.
Have you tried this stuff?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619932
It sounds to me like your pc's jacked up the driver somehow. Try plugging in the phone with the battery out and holding all 3 buttons, go into your device manager and uninstall all the USB drivers. Then reboot and try following the apx driver installation procedure again.
Sorry if you tried all this stuff a million times already.
I would say the two things that I would focus on would be to first fix the drivers on your computer. I downloaded mine from the LG website. Next is to flash CWM Recovery so you can flash a rooted ROM to your phone. I would go back to the thread where you got the instructions to start flashing and ask the same questions but only after reading the whole thread. There the orig. developer might chime in and you'll have more specific answers focused on your specific issue.
It's true your phone isn't bricked and have patience and you'll get it fixed.

well i have all the drivers needed. and the computer is fine but the phone is not. i mean the pc doesnt quite read the phone right. with that being said i dont know how to flash cwm recovery to a phone my computer cant read. im running windows 7 64bit and all my usb drivers work fine.
CWM = Clockworkmod Recovery (everyone remember this is a newbie).
Important question: Did you do a backup before making any changes to your phone?
Also, try this: remove your phone's battery for 30 seconds. Put the battery back in. Press and hold the volume down button, then press and hold the power button. Hold both buttons. First you'll see the white LG screen, then wait, when you next see the blue LG screen wait ONE second (no longer) then release the buttons. Tell us what the phone does then and what the screen says.
Have you tried taking out your SIM card and micro SD card?
Usually right after I take them out and plug in my phone while holding volume up and volume down... it usually works after that.
Yup, that's my problem. No matter how many USB ports I tried it still wouldn't read it until I took out the SIM card and micro SD ;p.
Try this on for size...

Sounds like you are having the same the issues i was having with my phone why dont you try this..... First you have to flash a custom recovery image for your phone, follow all the procedures exactly then once you have flashed your CWM Recovery ( i. e. Clockworkmod recovery) Once you have installed that properly, you can now flash your new custom ROM and that should help to fully reboot your phone back to recovery for you to start using again....... hope that works for you.......just as it did for me have a good one!!... :fingers-crossed:

He can't flash anything to his phone -__- that's the problem we are all trying to solve.
May sound stupid, but have you tried different cords? Maybe your USB cord is bad. Just a thought.

@op can you give us screenshots of:
A: what your device manager looks like when you plug your phone in not in apx mode.
And
B: When it is in apx mode.
To do this: right click on my computer>properties>on left hand side, click on device manager. Hit print screen, open paint and tell it to paste. Save and upload here.

well i brought it to two shops and were both unsuccessful. wireless toyz and smart fix. i have it back and it goes to the lg screen. and instead of the second it flashes from black to a very dim gray back and forth. when i hold the power button along with the volume down it does a master reset and i can press the home button then it takes me to a screen to delete cache partition and what not and you move up and down with the volume keys but i cannot select anything. i think i really messed my phone up.
Somehow you got stock recovery. Google for howbto do a master reset, on devices like the nexus tablet at my work there's a series of steps needed to do a full reset/restore. Just booting into stock recovery may not give you the option. As well, please post those screen shots as I said earlier, this way the issue with the USB can be troubleshot and maybe we can get you a fully working phone with CWM.
