Are you using titanium backup or have you deleted preinstalled apps
If so try unfreezing or undelete
Or you may have to do a factory reset or reinstall 2.2
Sent from my DROID 2G w/4.5.608 rooted using XDA App
ok i would like to just reinstall 2.2 but if i do will i have to get a new sim unlock code or will my old one still work also where can i get 2.2 without bloatware and how easy is it to reinstall
I hope you aren't being serious.
This has been discussed hundreds of times.
1. SIM unlock codes are one-time. The phone cannot be locked back.
2. There's no “2.2 without bloatware”. There's only two stock 2.2 firmware SBF images (2.4.29, 2.4.330) that both have loads of bloatware. You either freeze the bloatware, or install custom ROMs.
Yes I am I no longer can activate the phone through verizon and I can only use roms that work with the tbh band unlock
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
you could try wiping cache partition or wipe data from stock recovery
1. Hold the power button down and press "power down"
2. When the phone is off hold the letter x and the power button at the same time for about 2 seconds after the white motorola m. pops up.
3. When you see the green android and the triangle with the ! Comes up press the magnifying glass on the physical keyboard and a menu should come up.
4. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and the camera key to select things and navigate to "wipe data/factory reset" and select it with the camera key
can you boot to Clockwork recovery?
use Rom Manager or Bootstrap to boot to recovery
wipe cache partition
then select advanced
wipe dalvik cache
fix permissions
if that doesn't work
do a wipe data/factory reset
Thanks that makes sense

Well so far so good give it a day or two seems to be working
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
alright!
what all did you do?
Well shadow I wiped the caches and it worked for awhile but it is back to doing the same things I guess im looking at a data wipe and a reflash of a stock rom
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
if you just sbf you will not lose your data
just use rsd lite, instructions here
or you could try 2.3.3/4.5.608 all you did to get on at&t is unlock your phone by entering a code from verizon right? Your phone will always be unlocked now roms and firmware don't touch the unlock code as Gasai Yuno wrote before
Ok I would love a custom rom and yes I put a code in from verizon and a radio flash to allow the radio to work on us gsm bands

I know I'm still new but...
Did you do a data wipe? What rom were you using earlier? Did you have a nandroid backup? And what roms are you trying to switch to (I know that the newest Android Revolution had a problem with its files, patched now though)?
Ok this is what happened so far. I went back to the original new update stock. I used the hack kit and did the root. I installed RCMix and it was working and I made a backup. I tried to install ultimate Droid and phoenix evolution and it will take me to clockwork and delete the old files and install the new ones . It will reboot but stay on the HTC white screen.

Boot into recovery via rom manager or press volume down+power and hold, and reboot to recovery via hboot. Now go to mounts and formats I believe and format data, catche, system and then go back and flash your rom. I had same issue till I formatted my system. You don't lose root or SD data. Give it a try and let me know how it goes

Thanks Matt that worked . Idk why it did that though

Well there's data files and configurations that are leftover from the previous rom,and when its still there the newer files mix with the older ones (that aren't the same) and causes bootloops 95% of the time. So just by doing a data wipe,it still doesn't clean it throughly. Glad I can help.

Data wipes
So a data wipe doesn't remove all the old info/files? I'm currently getting a "System UID's conflict". Should I format the data/cache/system and reflash to resolve or just try a data wipe again?
Well usually it does by I've had issues after a wipe. Factory reset and clearing dalvik and catche sometimes doesn't do it for me. So u can formal system, catche, data and then reflash the rom. BUT before even attemping to flash the rom, make sure the md5 matches up so u didn't end up with a bad download. If the md5 matches with what the op provides,or search the market for the program (afv something) and check it. Then if its matching, then format the partitions, then flash.

sometimes if you are dl-ing the rom from your phones browser it doesn't dl it completly either. had that happen twice.
I hear there is a bug in Rom manager and it doesn't properly wipe data and cache. Easy way past the problem is to wipe it manually in recovery.

So I'm very new to the Android world. I was able to root and unlock my Samsung Infuse by following the instructions (big up lost1 !!)
Now I want to gift the phone to my sister. I want to basically do a factory reset to my phone so it is new, like the day it came. I know I can unroot it and then do a factory reset, but I have a feeling she will need tethering, so I'm keeping it rooted. How can I do a factory reset on a rooted Samsung Infuse?
Thanks in advance for all your help.
if that is all you did then just do a factory reset in recovery. it clears user data and apps but won't unroot. it won't restore any stock app you may have deleted though. if you need a truely clean slate with root h8rift and gtg have odin packages for that.
No, not really a clean slate. Just factory reset. From what I"ve read in the threads, I can do a factory reset by:
rebooting the phone, and when I'm switching the phone on, I press the power buttons and both the volume buttons and release the power button ?
Under settings , choose Privacy, then, Factory Reset

Hi tekgurl, I've heard if that's done on a rooted device, it could cause issues.
If you have titanium.backup go to batch, scroll down and uninstall system data/aapplication bam

Hi rjan22,
Will I need the paid version or can this also be done by the free version?
And by doing this, I'll be back to basically a stock infuse on the log-in screen but with root permission?

Yes buy it, it is very useful if you are on android, you might wanna buy file explorer and rom manager, this 3 apps is a must for android. So you can easily flash different ROM s very easy.

Gotcha. I just recently started using Android, so just rooting was a big deal. Unlocking was a nice bonus, and I was able to freeze tetheringmanager and therefore use wireless tethering.
Even when I had an iPhone, I was more into getting functionality rather than themeing it, i.e. flashing different ROM's (which is what I'm understandig is basically different themes with their own particular functionalities added into it, and maybe fine-tuned a bit).
Quick question, if I have downloaded clockworkmod recovery and opened it and everything looks good, so if I reboot my phone using the method of pressing both volume buttons and power button and then letting go of the power button, will that boot me into CMD? Do I have to enable anything in particular to go into CMD?
If you haven't booted into CWM before, you'll enter the stock recovery first. Choose Reinstall packages and on reboot you'll get into the fully-functional CWM. I had to do reinstall packages twice (boot into recovery and reinstall packages, reboot into recovery and reinstall packages, reboot into CWM).
Sweet! That bit of info will help in not panicking when I come to an unfamiliar screen when reeboting.
Gonna head home now, and give myself 2-3 hours to bring it to stock+root.
1st method) AS mentioned by rjan22, In titanium.backup go to batch, scroll down and uninstall system data/aapplication bam!
2nd method) Reboot into CWM, re-install packages, reboot into CWM. Hopefully there will be an option to wipe data and cache or something so that I'll have Superuser permissions still, and also be at the log-in screen for the Infuse as the phone is when the user first powers it on.

before you enter cwm you need to mod 3e recovery. it is an easy process.
alternatively you can flash a voodoo kernel that has cwm( red voodoo version) baked in. this can be done with sgs kernel flasher from either the cwm version or the odin version. the kernel can also be flashef in odin without touching 3e recovery.
I do need to reset with a clean slate as I'm an idiot and deleted the calendar package and cannot get it back. Where can I get the reset?
Soo I rooted my infuse, then after messing around with it and changing roms back and forth the phone got stuck on the samsung logo so then I performed GTG's Ultimate Unbrick. The phone was complelty reset and works fine BUT now I cant download apps from the Marketplace. It goes through the normal process but never actually downloads. What should I do? Any help is apprecaited
This has worked for me in the past when I had that problem :
Settings / applications / manage
Applications / all / market / clear data
Hope this helps

Factory reset after Odin back to stock and rooting settings privacy factory reset. That'll fix it for you.

If your just "stuck" at the samsung logo and had previously flashed a custom rom then you still have recovery....pull battery 3 button back to recovery do a complete wipe and flash another rom...if you dont have one on your phone, go to apply update zip and choose yes...your recovery should be green now...then go to mounts and storage>mount usb storage and now your computer will recognize your sd card and you can transfer another rom on your phone and flash...youll be all good then...

It's a friends phone and to be honest he can't handle the power of the root. He has no idea how to handle issues. I just want the phone to work normally. I flashed it back with the ultimate unbrick which unrooted it I believe but now the market dosent download apps. I just want the phone to return to out of the box normal working.
Please advise on how to fix the market not downloading.g

Go to settings>privacy and do a factory reset...the reason you cant download apps is because google talk authentication is failing...it happens sometimes on unbrick....a factory reset from phone will solve this..

I am not a master at all these things. As I understand you are getting hung when Recovery/CWM is trying to access data partition. Hence I assume data partition is corrupted.
It may be prudent to flash one of the stock ROMs.
The list of stock ROMs is available on this thread.

Fixed by installing kyrllios' froyo rom.
P.s. xda's posting restrictions hinder helpful feedback. I only wonder how many ppl had useful info to share but said f it when the msg "you can only make one post every 5min"came up.

Hi guys, I'm having some problems with my Global 2.
I have recently just rooted; and I'm loving every aspect of it. Well, until i started to experience unexpected issues.
I'm currently rooted with Framaroot. And using 'superuser'.
Basically, I'm getting no network. So i tried returning everything to it's default settings, both hard and normal reset.
Nothing has changed though. It's still, rooted and getting no signal. Unless I'm missing something here, but i thought restoring to the default settings, everything would be; well. restored. So I'm now stuck with a phone with no signal, and still rooted. What am i missing here guys?
What carrier are you using? If verizon did you try dialing *228 or *22899 to reset your roaming capability?

Sorry for the late reply. I'm with O2-UK.
Is there a way to restore my phone completely?. My phone seems to still be rooted; even after a reset.
cheers
Rooting cannot affect your phone's ability to connect to cellular network.
To restore your phone to factory settings you'll need to reflash it using RSDLite, because factory reset does not touch the system partition where root-related software resides.
Did you by any chance go to the testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) phone info section and choose “USA band” there? If so, your only solution is to use RSDLite. Never choose that option in that menu, ever.
easy to un root, just use universal unroot app in play store.
but that will not fix anything
flash a sbf with rsd lite, like Gasai suggested , which system version is on phone?
see menu>settings>about phone>system version should be something like xxx4.5.608 or xxxx2.4.33xx
or could be a sim card issue
Sent from my XT862 using Tapatalk 2
I'm kinda with SD_shadow. Could be a sim card issue. Did you flash a custom rom? If so what rom are you using? There might be support for your issue on whatever forum you got the rom from. Im sorry I don't know much ( if there are any) about the difference in UK carriers vs. Us carriers.
