Shattered G2X glass. - T-Mobile LG G2x

My phone glass did NOT survive my bachelor party. Has anyone had any experience swapping out the digitizer? Any recommendations?

Send it to LG. About $75 for an original replacement done by a factory trained tech.

[Q] Broken the glass on my Captivate

This literally happend about 3 minutes ago. My dog bolted for the door and took out my legs from behind me which sent my phone flying out of my hand. It looks like just the glass is broken as the screen and touch screen still work perfectly.
So has anyone replaced the front screen? Is it replaceable? This pisses me off to no end as the phone didnt have a single mark or scratch on it and I just got approved for a brand new replacement to be picked up tomorrow at my local ATT store, to remedy the random shut off and random search key press.
I thought the Gorilla glass is unbreakable!!!!????

$89.99! Only paid $79.99 for it in the first place! Ahh well.
Damn dog.
As I was already approved for replacement, do you think ATT will still swap it?
Not with damaged glass. I'd pay 87 to fix it n a heart beat

Yeah and if I call and ask, it'll be on file so I'll never get to replace it if need be in the future.
Wonder if I could pull the glass from a non functioning demo version. Or is the glass not just a cover?
Nope, its a pretty involved process requiring a complete teardown
accidental damage insurance
you better get it! $5 a month!
Any recommended places to purchase a screen from and where can I find a good guide. There are a few out there, but as we all know, not everything is created equal.
If you go to an AT&T store it probably won't end up being on file (you don't even have to tell them who you are if they say "no"). Also, since gorilla glass is supposed to be nearly indestructible, it doesn't hurt to try to get it replaced under warranty (sounds like a manufacturing flaw/defect to me), the worst they can do is tell you "no."

$5 per month plus a $90 deductible to replace the phone... $5 x 24 mo. = $120 + $90 = $210. I guess $210 is cheaper than buying a replacement off-contract, but $90 for a new piece of glass is a better deal...
With a deductable it adds up. I always fix them myself when they break a lot cheaper

We are a repair center located in St. Louis. We just started doing some mail in repairs. I have a captivate, thats how I saw your post. Can I post a link to our website or will I get in trouble for spam?

Week old Inspire already has a crack!

So I picked up an HTC Inspire at no commitment from AT&T 2 days ago and had it in my pocket (along with leather wallet that had no cash or coins just cards) and sat down and when I checked my phone there was a hair line crack on the glass. The phone is pristine and I'm usually good with phones which is why I was completely shocked when I saw it. I am definitely going to AT&T tomorrow but I mean do I even have a shot in the dark with this? When I worked for Apple we were allowed to replace phones that even had spider web cracks in them and I feel the associate will believe me when I tell him the phone did not drop at all because there is no damage anywhere just a hair line crack on the screen. Possibly defective unit? I find it hard to believe that this can happen with such little effort!
Update: Took it to AT&T and they said they would not return the phone because of damage. It just sucks, is there anything else I can do? I got HTC rep contact info so I'm going to see what he says.
You're pretty much screwed unless you had insurance. HTC will cover it but you have to pay to get it fixed.
Never ever leave the with a new phone and not buy a case

You can still try returning it
If you call customer service your chances are better that they'll send you a replacement in the mail. It'll likely be a refurb though.
I've had my Inspire since the day before it was released and it's in pristine condition. Not a single scratch or blemish anywhere to be seen, it's protected with a Realook screen protector and Otterbox Commuter case.

Ouch! Googling "lg g2x parts" yeilded some results in the $90 range. Someone in this thread said they paid about $70 for the part/labor/return shipping to have LG officially repair it, not voiding your warranty. I would call LG and check with them before you buy anything. Another guy even said replacing the glass (digitizer) involved some soldering. Hope this helps.
No ribbon cables only. Wow I thought soldering that was only for batteries, Back up batteries in certain devices. And mics and speakers.

[Q] Skyrocket Parts for repairs

I'm trying to find somewhere decent that carrys parts for the skyrocket that isn't stupid expensive, i know these digitizer lcd combos aren't all 180+$
my lcd is fine, so what im wondering if anyone has torn one of these bad boys apart, or if they only make the combos.
Any suggestions for websites that have digitizers for the skyrocket would make my day!
Dropped my phone last night, cracked digitizer...derp
same situation on my old black skyrocket... just a digitizer would be nice
So, has anybody been able to find the outer glass only? I can't order the $200 digitizer+lcd... makes no sense...
Prices have gone down a little, they're at 150 now, Google mengtor

If you can't find a cheap digitizer, you could maybe part it out on eBay and then just buy a whole phone used.
Does anyone know where I can get a main rear camera for this?
Hey y'all. I dropped my white SR a while back and repaired the screen myself. I used http://www.cellphone-repair-shop.com/samsung-skyrocket-sgh-i727/
They have the best prices on parts that I could find. You can do it all yourself too. Just google instructions for replacing the parts.
To repair the LCD/digitizer, you have to replace the entire front, not just the glass. It's an all in one unit, that's why it's so expensive. I followed these instructions: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1758028-How-To-replace-I727-screen
Yup. The digitizer and its circuitry are attached to the screen (glass) with some wicked adhesive. Its an all-in-one piece that is also glued into the carriage. It comes out from the front. Just replaced mine last night lol.

broken glass

borken glass
so ye i was clutz and dropped my phone and is cracked through out. looks like the screen is fine behind the glass. so my question is where should i go to replace the glass particularly in the gta area? i heard samsung doesnt do a great job. any hellp is appreciated thank you
I did mine myself and have had no problems since. There's a youtube on dismantling the phone that can walk you through it if you're not comfortable doing this kind of thing. The only real problem is the money... the cheapest I was able to find a replacement for was $170 on ebay. But, the seller was reputable, and the replacement was new. The issue is the fact that the glass, digitizer and LCD are made as one piece. I have an extra bezel/backpanel from attempting to extract the broken glass from the LCD. Only the bezel/backpanel survived. Its still better than paying sombody $250 to do it for you. Unless you have insurance that is...
