Before you start let me make it clear that, I don't own this device or don't have any connection with it. Model:Galaxy Y
Custom ROM:Tigra v4
Kernel;Dual Tigra 3
Base Version;DXLA1
Download the following and place to the Root Of SD card

2. Once in the CWM recovery, simply choose install from zip and select KernelUpdate.zip
(Note : Kernel Update.zip looks for a boot.img file in SD card and flashes it)
3. After successful kernel up press power to return to CWM
4. Press Reboot now, and your kernel is updated
5. Reboot twice and it will automatically delete the system folder in SD card
ext4 is optional:
6. Repeat step 1 and select install from zip, this time choose the Ext4.zip

Hi XDA Guru`s,
I have tried to search for a proper guide which will tell me how to move from 4.1.x to 4.2.x.
There are many roms but all say they are without boot.img, some say xxxx kernel is needed etc.
So someone please put up steps that say how and what to do.
I am not asking you to put up links or upload the required files, zips, .img files here but aleast write it down so as to have a proper step by step instructions.
I am sure we all can search for files on google/xda provided we know what we need to look for.
Please take this request of a less mortal person and shed some light on me.
Thanks:crying:
In most of the 4.2.x ROM thread the installation process is mentioned.
1. You need to have custom recovery (cwm, twrp, cot etc) installed.
2. Put the ROM zip in the root of your SD card.
3. Go to recovery, take bkp of your current ROM. (Preventive measure, in case something goes wrong)
4. Clear data/cache/delvik cache
5. Go to mount option in cwm, format data/cache/system
6. Install the ROM by going to install from SD card option
7. ROM will boot loop as the boot.IMG for 4.1.x is not compatible with 4.2 ROM.
8. You need to flash the boot.IMG or kernel compatible with 4.2 to use the goodness of 4.2
9. That's it.
Here is a meathod to flash stock/custom kernel using UKF for those who are new to these things
Q: What is UKF ?
UKF is UNIVERSAL KERNEL FLASHER developed by @frapeti Original thread
Playstore link- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frapeti.ukflash2
Prerequisites-
1. A Galaxy S4 (I9500/I9505)
2. The phone must be rooted
3. Any Stock/Custom kernel
Procedure-
-For Stock kernel
1. Download UKF from Playstore.
2. Extract the Firmware package whose kernel you want to flash there u will get boot.img file.
3. Copy that boot.img file to your SD card
4. Open UKF, Press "Select a Kernel Image (bin/img/md5)"
5. Select that boot.img file that you previously copied to your SDcard
6. Then Press 'Flash Kernel Image'
7. Thats it click on reboot and its done
-For Custom Kernel
1. Download UKF from Playstore.
2. Extract the .zip file of the kernel you want to flash. You will get a file with .img , .bin or .md5 extension
3. Copy that file to your SD card
4. Open UKF, Press "Select a Kernel Image (bin/img/md5)"
5. Select that file that you previously copied to your SDcard
6. Then Press 'Flash Kernel Image'
7. Thats it click on reboot and its done
This meathod is more useful for those who want to flash stock kernels as their flashable zips are not available.
Others who may not want to use custom recovery can find it useful
BUT DO IT CAREFULLY SELECTING WRONG IMAGE FILE CAN RESULT IN HARDBRICK TOO
HIT THANKS IF YOU FIND IT USEFUL
