Depends on the rom you're using (assuming you're rooted of course). I know BBMod allows you to adjust the LED blink rate, not sure if that's a feature in all AOSP roms or just that one. I'm sure AOSP fans can chime in more. I know ARHD, Coredroid, Bindroid, cleardroid, and VU don't have the option, or at least didn't when I used them..

(Q) CM7 RC3 or CM7 nightlies

Well I see all these roms out for the leaked 2.3.3 and then I see CM7. I've never used CM7, so I'm.not aware of the differences. Could someone shed some light for me and possibly direct me towards me

Well...
The leaked 2.3 Roms have sense 2.1.
CM7 is built from source to be like vanilla android, but there are more options.
I've tried a few of the GB/Sense rom's and I've been on CM7 since nightly 17, now on RC3.
Its more of a matter of appearance, I've tried a lot of them and I prefer CM7 builds, but I use Sense sometimes, as well as MIUI, which also has a 2.3 build.
Its a brilliant community and the developers for the desire HD/inspire have turned out some amazing quality rom's.

Well question is what's the difference between sense 2.0 and 2.1? I just want opinions and what everyone seems to prefer. I'm looking for a nice look with good download / upload speeds.

The differences between sense 2.0 and 2.1 aren't that big, but there is a settings tab in the notification pull down and a tweaked app drawer that has favorite and downloaded app tabs.
That's really it aesthetically, but under the hood its made to work with android 2.3.
They are all test builds though, you could try an optimized stock rom with sense 2.0 and froyo?
There are a lot of options now and more to come.

There's one in the inspire developer thread.

MIUI is certainly a good one, especially if you like the iPhone look (you can change this of course with a custom launcher but the menus and such still look "iPhony"). If you're into trying out a few others besides MIUI you may want to have a look at CM7. One thing I like is that it has a wide array of tweakable automatic brightness settings. Every ROM I've tried, the brightness is either too dark at times (like when I'm in my car) or too bright such as when I'm in bed at night in a dark room. I don't like to always have to be fiddling with the manual brightness settings. With most ROMs you're stuck with whatever automatic brightness settings suit the developer. CM7 allows tweaking the brightness for specific ambient light levels, and has various overlap/hysteresis settings to minimize any rapid increase/decrease of brightness when the ambient light changes or is right on the borderline between levels.
With most ROMs you can turn the haptic feedback either on or off with no adjustments. CM7 allows you to tweak the exact level of haptic feedback you want. I like just a light "bump" of haptic feedback (about 20ms) when hitting the capacitive buttons or when long pressing an icon. Plus this saves a smidgen of battery life over the full blown haptic.
Couple the fact that the undervoltable LordMod kernels work with CM7 and MIUI and you've got a real winning combination, with battery life as good or better than the stock ROM.
+1 for MIUI. And people forget that it's CM7 based.

Camera

Anyone have issues with their camera freezing their phone on the Charge? I had to pound on my home key repetitively before I was able to get to the home screen. None of the other keys worked, either. Of course, it would be nice to be able to turn off the screen in camera mode, but that's a different topic. (I know...i should just root.)
Maybe there's an app out there to fix it? Or maybe an app that does both stills and videos?

I've had that with 2 different charges, I had to pull the battery and reboot.
It happened on stock ee4 and gummy w/imoseyon 4.0 on 1 phone and my new one is doing it on tweakstock w/pbj 115.
The sound is causing the fc in 720, but it works on imoseyon's kernel. On pbj it records fine on 480. Mound is working on an updated kernel I believe.
All those who believe in telekinesis raise my hand!
Imnuts has an update for his kernel that fixes this issue now. It's over on rootzwiki

Softkeys backlight as notification light

Dear,
Isn't it possible to use the softkeys backlight (apps, back and home) as notification light?
I have a one s with CM10 build 4 installed.
The reason why I wanna do this is because the notification light isn't always so 'clear'.
Is this possible?
Thx!

I know with older Samsung phones they had to build a kernal with a BLN mod in it and you could download the bln app and that would work. Not sure if that might work on HTC though...worth a shot, you might ask someone who builds our kernals about it.

I would really like this as well. The notification LED on the One S is a joke!

We need something. The only thing I really get jealous of when I see a SGS3 is their notification light. Someone finally got it right.
TBH, the types of folks who can pull this off aren't trolling the Q&A forum. It's a great idea and I hope one of the true developers decides to look at the code, but a bunch of +1s aren't the answer. Maybe someone should start a kickstarter bounty

I would love that app, too
Of course I would donate, I think this app will be very useful to everyone

Adding a specific app to a ROM

Ok I'm in the process of building my first ROM for the shift. I am starting with an AOSP, but am wondering if I can add an app to it that is sense specific, from what I've seen. I use the fm tuner app on my shift everyday at work and want to put it on the ROM I'm building. Does anyone know if this will work or am I stuck in try it and see mode? Thanks

Nope, unless you are extremly talented, but it won't work to just drop the fm radio app into system, but search the market, you may be able to find a free alternative that would work with AOSP. I would really like to get the HTC music app on AOSP but it is not that easy.

Sense Apps will usually not work on AOSP unfortunately. If it's possible, it will take some work. But if your looking for an FM Radio Tuner, the Port I did has one. You can try it, and see if it will work for you. Bilgerryan I'm with you on the HTC Music App. It's the one I like the best.
