I don't know if you have seen these, but finally someone has made some great speakers/dock stations for our android devices. I hope that these are just the first of many to come.
Philips Fidelio
It's Bluetooth, which means it's unreliable at best. And, of course, as everything that comes from Philips butt, it is about $50 overpriced for what it is.
But I am with you, given the absolute dearth of good speaker docks for android, it is tempting.
I have had the larger Philips fidelio speaker for about a month now and have no regrets! Bluetooth streams seamlessly and provide rich bass

How well does the app work with it? Do you have any pics of it being docked?
The native app needs improvement but I use a third party app anyways
Sent from my Triumph using XDA App
which 3rd party apps do you use?
Got the clock radio round one and like it as a dock and speaker but the app leads to significant battery drain in standby when not charging
Interested in what app you are using as well. The Fidelio app is annoying trying to open every time I plug my phone in.

Got one for Christmas
Just thought that I would post and let you all know that I got the Philips AS851/37 Fidelio for Christmas. I love it. The sound is great, there are only two problems that I have with it so far, and only one of them is really a problem. First is that yes the Philis app sucks. Just use what ever audio programs you have been using and it works great. The second issue is that I love it so much I can't make up my mind which room of the house I want to keep it in. So I just move it around with me sometimes.
Did anyone of you find out the best apps to use with Fidelio? I got my new AS111 a few days ago. I really like the piece of hardware but the app is really crap.
Right now I'm testing Alarm Clock Plus which seems quite good so far.
One problem I'm having right now is that after a power outage here the clock on the device doesn't synk up again. I guess this is because I don't have the Fidelio app anymore, when I had it installed it wasn't any problem. If this is the case, does anyone know any other way to fix it than installing the Fidelio app?
/Daniel
Hi everyone ! Got one for my birthday, and I must say the excitement vanished quite quickly...
I'm spending a lot of enery trying to replace the Fidelio app, but so far without success.
I set the Fidelio (aka DockStation) alarm clock on "no sound" in order to let another third party alarm app play music, but the music keeps getting out in the smartphone speakers instead of the Fidelio's, and worse, I still get the forest birds ambiant sound ! I tried several alarm clock apps, even the Alarm Clock Plus mentionned above, none will let the sound go through bluetooth, although the media players are able to.
Does someone have any complete Bluetooth + Alarm combination working ?
Edit : forget what I said, I didn't go deep enough in the alarm apps options. There is one to use the music stream instead of the alarm stream when bluetooth on, and it was not activated by default. Works as a charm now.

Hey folks, I know, that this thread was long dead,
but because there was no solution in setting the clock on your fidelio device without using their app,
I created an App that does that. I tested it on my Nexus 7 with JB and on my Nexus 4 with KitKat and it works on both devices.
If someone needs it, try it and report if it works with other Fidelio devices as well.
Heres the Google Play Link: "Edit" sorry, Im not able to post links yet. My App is called Fidelio Time (de.fideltime.time)

I posted this on another user's thread but it may be more relevant here...
One issue I have noticed is with the "default playlist." I'm not sure if it is a bug or what, but I normally keep my music on "shuffle all." After a certain amount of time of not using the music app, then next time I open it, it reverts back to wanting to play the first 100 tracks in my library. I then have to click back on the library list and choose "shuffle all" again to get the rest of my music to load up.
My BT is fully integrated with my car stereo and this one little thing is the only thing causing me to have to pull my phone out of my pocket when I get in my car.
Has anyone else noticed this when using the HTC music app? On my Droid, using the standard 2.1 Music app It would always just pickup playback where I left off.
Bump...
Can't believe I'm the only one to notice this.

I've notice this since day one. It started driving me nuts. So I just switch to mixzing because it has a lock screen widget like the default htc player. I hope htc fixes it with the next update. I never had this issue with the eris.
Do we know what the actual problem is? it amazes me that so few people have noticed this. please can somebody fix this soon. i am considering going back to my iPod
I've had this problem on my Inc and my Eris. I use btunes. It's very similar to the ipod interface and doesn't have this problem.

Hey guys,
i just got the multimedia dock for my stone2 and was wondering if there is some kind of app or something for the following:
if i dock the stone wlan should switch on
some kind of remote access so i can see on my pc when someone calls or i get a new txt message.
I'm new to Android so if there is some obvious app around sorry, i searched but with no conclusions
I don't think that there's an app for automatically switching on wifi, when the dock-app opens. But in order to remote control your device via wifi and PC, you've to be rooted. With the app "Webkey" - available in market - you can access the phone with your browser on the PC.
perhaps you could realize the whole thing with the app "dock awake" ($ 2,99). (sorry, but as "newbie" i can not post a link. please search the market.) it automatically adjusts your settings when you dock your phone, e.g. switch on/off bluetooth and wifi or change the call mode (auto speakerphone/headset). you can also launch another program.
the more adjustable way is "tasker" (£3.99). but because of the mass of settings it's more difficult.
i'm also not a developer, but i used both programs with my stone. i definitely prefer tasker. it's more than just a possibility to turn on wifi
For WiFi you can use Tasker, Setting Profiles and a dozen other profiling apps.
Where can I get the dock in Australia?
The dock is friggin useless. It came free with my milestone 2 and its basically a glorified charger.

if u go to clove.co.uk im sure u can pick up a few for 25 pounds (ard AUD$50 if my math is right). however for an even better deal u can check out ebay. u can get brand new docks for around USD$15-20.
however do be advised, like what the others have said, it is a glorified charger, and a really pretty alarm clock. but for 20 bucks, why not?
Got mine off Play.com for £18 delivered. Using the latest Tune In Pro I can wake up to BBC Radio 4 using my phone, making the Milestone 2 with dock the sexiest looking alarm clock.
To the original question: I set mine up to automatically disable the screen lock and switch on wifi when docked, and keep the lights on when additionally to that the power cable is plugged in. Makes a nice night watch next to my bed (and of course I used Tasker to do the described stuff).
But now I've got a question on the dock desktop app opening automatically. On the lefthand side, it links to the alarm (amongst others). But that's the default alarm clock I don't use. I found no way to replace that with some other app (for me: AlarmDroid). Does anyone know how to do that?

Try DockAwake (it's paid... used to be free) or something similar from Market, or Alarm Clock Plus.

Yepp, thanx -- Alarm Clock Plus seems to be the one I'm looking for. Will give that one a try. Features look quite similar to those I use with AlarmDroid, so it seems to be a decent replace...

For anyone else wondering, you can also get the dock online in Australia from Unique Mobile's website (since I haven't made 8 posts, I can't post a link to the product)
Tried Alarm Clock Plus. Kicked it off again after 10min. Did not find the announced Weather+Time stuff, as hard as I searched for. So I rather stay with AlarmDroid. As I cannot integrate that there either, the entire app makes no sense.
Removing it was tricky: First I could not find it at all. It does not show as "Alarm Clock Plus", but as "Uhr" ("Clock"). Unfortunately, "U" is much further down from "A" than "C" is, so it took me a while to realize...
So I'm still stuck with the original question: Is there a way to change the app launched when tapping the AlarmClock icon?
You just need the Weather and News stock app (i unfrozed it just to show you):

Sorry, I was not precise enough. I didn't mean the stuff for display (that worked), but the "talking clock" stuff I'm used to with AlarmDroid. Instead of simply "ringing", it wakes me with TTS telling me time, weather etc.
I just purchased my dock not too long ago and would have to disagree with it being "a glorified charger." It makes a great alarm clock, and picture frame which I use it for. But to each his own, I guess. The original milestone dock also works with the MS2, so you can save some money and just purchase the original dock.
Hi all,
I hope this is the right section... tried developers section, but i am not allowed to post because of limitted amount of posts (dont want to post if its spam )
So, i did a search on google, a search in the market and a search on this forum and could not find what i was looking for.
I am a complete noob with developing apps and dont have the aspiration to do it in the future....
Here is my idea... hope somebody could react if it is possible at all or maybe that it is a completely stupid idea
My wife and i both have a htc desire and i was searching for a babyphone through wifi.... like i said... could not find it.
What i want:
- Place one device in the room from the baby when it is connected to the internet (wifi or 3g)
- The other device i would like to to take to friends ~600 meters away.
- With the phone i have with me i would like to connect to the other phone (through internet wifi or 3g) and hear what is going on at the room from the baby. (Maybe through a webpage or something like that???)
Hope it is clear to you guys what i ment.
I think it should be possible... something like skype or so?? Together with some options from the standard baby monitors in the market i think this could be a completely new app. Of course it could be extended in the future if you could use sound and the cam from the android device and have live video from the babys room....
104 views and no reaction... Is it a stupid idea or something impossible?

Actually, a Babyphone App is a very good idea
Some of the applications that allow for you to use your phone as a webcam also allow for audio capture, so they could be used similarly to what you want.
but can these apps you mentioned sent the captured video/audio to the android phone from my wife??
Noise Alert
While this is not for a constant audio connection, I used this for a baby monitor when in a bind.
You have to tweak the detection settings to suit your sleeper (snorers/rollers), but once you get it set right, if the wake up and cry the App will call your other phone and you can listen to the room at that time.
Not sure if you can set it to restart the app for false alarms, but logically this is probably in there.

Still this is not the best option for me... I want to have sound all the time... If you have kids you will understand.
Other thing is that I want to do it via internet...cheaper
Yeah i have kids. I bought a wireless video baby monitor with two way comminication and support for up to 4 cameras because i couldnt find an android solution.
Someone should definitely develop this idea.

Hi Master_B82,
I had the same idea, so that I think that it is not too bad ;-)
Actually, I was working hard over the last months in developing such an App, as I need it for myself, too.
The good news: I finished a first, fully functioning version. It is available on android market as "BabyPhone Mobile":
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.babyphonemobile
I hope, you like it
If you have any ideas on improving the App... Just tell me!
Im just writing this little guide from my experience this week, for people thinking of buying or maybe installing a different rom, some of this is only my opinion, (take or leave it)
I bought this primarily to stream tv to our bedroom tv(netflix you tube etc)
Out the the box it works really well most of the time, but i found on some netflix films the picture was perfect but the sound, although lip synced perfectly it would mute for a second every now and again, making it too annoying to watch, ( for me anyway).
I decided to root it as ive read that this speeds the gadget up.
I didnt read up properly so rooted and installed the Finless 1.7 rom, this rom does not work with the 809b
it isnt designed for this so the wifi and bluetooth dont work at all.
You need to use the Finless 1.5 from here http://www.freaktab.com/
this rom works perfectly and the guide that you get with it works as well.( im a noob and managed)
I tried the film that gave me the most trouble on netflix and it played without a glitch.
I have a motorola atrix 4g bluetooth keyboard and mouse which ive tried, the mouse works as it should and stays paired without problem, but the keyboard doesnt stay paired and is a pain(this is the keyboard that is crap as i have the same problem when ive used it with other devices).
Im using a logitech wireless keyboard(dongle type not bluetooth) and that works perfectly.
This gadget could easily be used as a pc for a pc for googling etc, and if een more depending whether there is an app for the job you want.
The MK802iii remote client form the play store works great as a remote on your android phone(takes 10 minutes to get used to) but good for the bedroom as its lit so you can see the butttons at night.
I installed the Finless rom without shanging any of the settings, but then installed an app to lower the clock speed as it seemed to be getting a bit hot(lowered it to the 1272 option and it seems ok but ill be messing with it) search the play store for no-frills cpu control.
With youtube you need to install an older version so that you can get full screen http://www.androiddrawer.com/7215/download-youtube-4-1-47-app-apk/#.UTNzuGYYbJH
I havent tested any thing else yet but i think ill be trying the ps3 sixaxis app and controller.
The worst thing i the size of the thumbnails/shortcuts but i think a launcher like holo launcher from the market will sort that out.I think this might have something to do with the tv im using aswell.
Anybody who as any suggestions for apps that work well with this gadget id love to here
hope this helps somebody
edit- I think the sound problem was something to do with the hdmi in on the tv i was using so probably no need to root afterall-doh
edit- the sound started to play up after i changed the clock speed but after a couple of reboots it all seems fine.
Cheers Joe
I have the same stick. It came from amazon pre rooted, but Im not sure which rom it is.
My bluetooth keyboards dont work perfectly, so I use a 2.4 wireless dongle too.
My gallery app does not have folders for my picassa cloud photos. This is my biggest disappointment. Is this feature working with other roms?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
hi, no my google plus and picasa dont sync back from the cloud to my gallery, Im not sure it works that way though, I just look at my photos in the cloud,-
it tells you what rom you are using at the bottom of the settings menu, about phone- build number-
I wrote this for personal use but I figured I'd publish it in case anyone else finds it useful
Essentially I wanted an alarm app that would gradually wake me up with audio (in my case a podcast) instead of a sudden and hella annoying alarm ringtone, so I wrote this.
The concept is pretty simple, you choose the app you want to listen to, you set the time like a normal alarm app and then at that time the chosen app will start playing. Simple.
Should work with any audio app that support bluetooth commands (most music players, TuneIn Radio, PocketCasts etc..)
I'll also stick the code up on GitHub shortly if anyone wants to check it out.. Let me know what you think
And of course if you find any bugs etc.. I'm open to feature requests but like my other similar app I really wanted to keep this as simple as possible :good:
Get it here
Hi, would this work with Amazon echo?
I don't have one to test but it should work with any app that shows up in the list (the list only shows apps you have installed which support bluetooth commands, which is how I tell the app to start playing).
If you try it let me know if it does
