Unfortunately there are no settings for the drop down menu (from the status bar I presume) as the Sense interface usually lacks this feature.

thanks for the fast reply
i dont have sense any more i have the HTC Desire and i am running the oxigen rom but seeing other phones with sense like desire S there was a quick settings tab in status bar.
i hope there will be an update with android 4 soon with quick settings included

I think cm7 has this, check out the development thread for the great work by people here on getting cm7 onto the chacha.

[Q] SD Card apps Show Default App Icon

Has anyone else had a problem with any of there apps that are installed to there SD card to where the Icons show the standard default android Icon after reboot?
Is it really that hard to search before making a post?
sent from HTC Sensation
I searched...
No useful Information.
then why not pose the question in one of the 2-3 other threads on the Sensation forums? if you read those posts no one knows how to get around this.
This is a problem on all Android devices. There are ways to get around it.

when you reboot and this happens just change to a different skin.sense will restart and problem solve. then just change to your original skin and thats it.

Wrong again...What's your work around?
@SNK180, that trick worked! Thanks
@ snk180. Great that worked well. Its obviously a bug in sense and how it loads the icons from the sd card. I'm sure HTC will fix it in the next maintenance update.
@xnifex Thanks for the newb bash.

[Q] HTC Locations

Probably a complete noob question but I'll ask anyway.
The trial period on Locations has just expired on my new Sensation XE and every time I put the phone in the car cradle it attempts to start it. Of course after checking for a licence it comes up with the buy licence screen which is really annoying and a waste of time.
Can I simply uninstall locations & if so will it then default to Google maps & navigation?
Whats everone's favorite for a car mode system?
Thanks in advance.
Jon
Yeah uninstalling it should be fine.

OK so real noob question, I don't seem to be able to un-install locations. Can this be removed or is it in the ROM?
Tried going to the applications manager but there is no option to un-install.
Any help please.
It's in your system/app , just use any file explorer to remove it. Must have soff and root.

This, or you could use Titanium Backup.
Filter so it only shows 'system' apps and it should be there.
Thanks guys,
epsix, whats soff and root?
k0zmic, I'll install titanium & try it that way cheers.
By the way as Locations is provided as a trial version whats the "official" answer to this if you don't want to buy the app, surely htc don't expect us to have a defunct piece of software popup every time we use the phone?
So spoke to HTC yesterday and it seems that yes they do expect us to put up with the buy licence nag screen when using the car cradle. Apparently there is no way to say no to buying a licence once & for all
Locations itself still works & the navigation package still works you just have to cancel the nag screen & start again manually. Of course you loose the car panel & premium navigation but as I couldn't really tell much difference between them that's no loss.
Have installed EVA & Vlingo & will see which one I prefer before deleting Locations.
Pity, that's the first negative I've found since moving to Android from Windows.

[Q] New HTC User with Questions

So I have always had Samsung Galaxy phones and this phone is new to me, and with that not sure how to complete a couple things. First thing is the notification bar while in the web browser. I am not sure if I am just doing something wrong but I can not seem to get it to show up or pull it down, is there a trick to this? Second thing and I think this is more the phone/ICS but I am super used to using the android search button to either quick launch google search or holding it to activate voice functions. Is this something that is gone and no longer, or is there a good option to get something like this back? I think these are mainly the questions I have for now, I am sure others will come up since I have only had the phone a day. Thanks for the help in advance.
Hey and welcome to the HTC One XL. Hopefully I can answer your questions. I used to use the galaxy note prior to the one x. Here in general there's a sticky for how to do everything on your one x.
There's key remapping to enable certain features but search hasn't been done yet. I actually had to out the Google search widget on a home screen. For the web browser as best as I know you have to scroll back to the top to open the search bar.
There are custom roms in the development that has voice search enabeled. But pretty much going to have to install a custom rom

Thanks for the reply I will check out the sticky for sure. As for the web browser thing I wasn't looking for the search bar, but instead trying to pull down the notifications bar.

hate to say it but the stock htc browser sucks. Switch to something else. I like Chrome much better myself.

In what part of the world/region did you buy your phone from? What software/firmware version you have? Also is the CPU S3 or S4?

I bought the phone from Saudi Arabia. I have the S3 version.
I am not 100% sure about this, but if I recall correctly it used to write from left to right when i bought it. <-- Not too sure about this.
Android 4.0.3
So i took a screenshot
the justification does not solve the problem still
any clues?
the title is fine, it writes from left to right

I downloaded a program called morelocale2 and it allowed me to change my country to stuff outside the preinstalled countries so I set it to Canada since that's where I live but it is still the same
I have the exact same problem with my htc sensation (bought in Lebanon), when I updated to ice cream sandwich and got the note app.
I contacted htc support and I received this reply: "Kindly note that this issue has been escalated for a higher level for investigation and we would contact you the moment we receive an update."
I hope that someone knows how to fix it and thanks for the help.
"I can see how the text starting on the other side of the screen would be quite the problem. I would be glad to address this with you. In regards to this, many settings of the phone are set to what region they were manufactured for. I took one of our test One S phones and there isn't a setting in the app to change the text orientation. As a workaround for this, I'd suggest trying a third party app from Google Play store. I'd like for you to give this a shot, and if you have any further problems then let me know. In the meanwhile, I hope you have a great day!"
This is the answer I got from HTC when I told them about the problem, does any one know such app?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I know you are not rooted
If it is only the notes app can you somehow uninstall/delete it and re install it or another note app from market
I rooted my phone same day I bought it, so am not familiar on how to do that stuff on non-rooted phones
There is no way to uninstall it using the normal uninstallation methods and I have not found a way to download it again. I would gladly download a diff notes app however I cannot find a semidecent one that I like

Evernote.

Agreed Evermore is great. Perfect sync from pc to phone.
Hahaha! Sorry, but that's got to be so annoying it's hilarious.
Try Evernote. HTC Notes actually syncs with Evernote anyways, which is why it asks for you to login when you turn it on for the first time. Great app, has all the features of stock Notes + a lot more.

help!
Hi all, this is my first post in here so plz bear with me if i sound like such a newb.. so i got my HTC one S last week, after being totally bored with 4yrs of iOS.. i gotta say everythin is great.. except for the crappy Calendar, no iOS-style shake to Undo, and this little issue with Notes: it also insists on typing English characters from right to Left! Needless to say this is frustrating for sum1 who uses Notes multiple times a day.. and such a disappointment for an -almost- flawless device & OS.. No i do not think downloading a third-party application, or rooting the device is worth the hassle because i am not trying to locate a star in space, i just wanna type sum text for god's sake! come on there has to be a solution to this.. Furthermore, the iPhone 5 is coming out soon.. just sayin.. FYI i also got my device from Saudi, running ICS 4.0.3 + HTC Sense 4.0.. Cheers

Run a WWE RUU. Why did you talk about the iPhone 5? It has no relevance. The problem is where you bought the device from, which is Saudi Arabia. Arabic writes from right to left, which is why you should buy it from another country if you're from a different country.
A new rom

To tell the truth, i didn't face this problem on my EVO 3D before. . . But it started when I installed the stock rom made for middle East and updated to ICS. . . I don't know but I believe if you flashed a none Middle East rom you'll get it fixed. . .

Okay... so you want touchwiz (not touchwizz) on your HTC phone? You do realize that there is a reason why only Samsung phones get that. And why only HTC phones get sense...
This was literally two posts up from yours too lol.
