guys, i have a problem. I'm on Virtuous unity 2.37 still. While watching a video in my phone, all of a sudden it went to the bootscreen of the virtuous unity.. Then i waited for 5 mins, it didn't want to go back to the homescreen, it was just stuck there. Then i held the volume up, down, and power button so it could restart. It restarted successfully. But what do you guys think is the problem? is it the custom ROM, or the phone? Did you guys experience this problem? PLS HELP! i'm really nervous right now.

My say its the ROM. I was using Virtuous Unity a while back and seems they still haven't fixed these issues. But still a good rom though.
happens once or restart repeat?
^it only happened once, after a month of using Virtuous unity 2.37.
@Skanob
Did you experience this when you were using VU? Is this a common problem of the ROM?

thats nothing...maybe some other services/apps run in background and its messed up with player or something..it happens.not big deal.also if u want a dig use logcat and see ...
It is the rom's problem. I was using Miui last week and had the same problems as you. Resolved after I flashed the Cyanogenmod. The battery tends to reject certain roms.

^^Ok thanks guys. Oh yeah, i was watching a Football game(live) using the browser, maybe it couldn't take it, so it had to restart? I don't know. Maybe it's really the ROM.
It's Rom 100%. Dont worry.

I have had no major problems with my Inspire 4G while on Inspire 4G ROMs (well... Stock, rooted stock, and Inspired Ace which is customized for the inspire.) On every DHD ROM I have installed, there seems to be a problem with touch input. When typing emails, searches, SMS, and other things random keys will just stop working! Sometimes I can tap them repeatedly and fix it while others you have to exit whatever app you are in and open it back up. It gets really annoying.
I am currently on CoreDroid, but have had this problem with TB Fusion, RCMixHD, and RCMix3D as well. Since Inspired Ace worked fine I tried flashing its HTC_IME.apk to see if this fixed the problem. It didn't. I seem to be the only one with these problems on the Inspire. Has anyone else noticed? Does anyone have any suggestions for what could cause these issues?
(Yes, I am aware of the problems flashing ime packages from other ROMs can cause, I was just trying to see if it fixed the problem. I had to backup zip ready to flash in case it caused FC problems...)
Thanks in advance guys!
I'm using leedroid and I have the same problems of random keys not working at random times.

Wait so there is no possibility of ripping the drivers from stock and flashing or getting a kernel with them? And how come it worked on Inspired Ace? Did gtg465x get the driver issue fixed? Not trying to sound angry there just a bit perplexed since IA was dhd based....

Might be hardware than, I do remember it being brought up and it's unfixable.. I've had it happen on factory stock plenty of times. I just change my screen to horizontal and fixes it.

Hmm... Well mine never did that. Only failed to rotate a few times due to a few malfunctioning third party apps... If i find a fix I will post it.
I've had this as well and thought that maybe it was Better Keyboard having an issue with either the Inspire in general, or CoreDroid. So this is happening to others using the stock keyboard. Glad it's not just me.

No you aren't alone... I consulted gtg465x and he only edited a few things in /system/customize so I flashed the IA /system/customize/default.xml and it seems to have greatly improved. Noticed one of those such lags but it is not the one out of every hundred that it was. I typed this a few other things multiple sms one of which was long and only had to tap one key multiple times to get it to work. And only three taps at that!
If I further test it I will ask gtg for his permission and post the default.xml in a flashable zip.
Now all that is left to do is edit build.prop to make my phone say inspire not dhd then flash from mdj v21 to 23, calibrate battery for this ROM (grr... Coredroid updates wiped my battery stats while it was only at 63 percent charge during install) and then I can finally be happy and leave my phone exactly how it is! Yeah that will last all of what? A week maybe? Haha nah I am happy on coredroid!

I've had this happen to me on multiple ROM's and it always seems to be the "e" key that stops working for me. I just restart my phone or change input methods and it usually fixes it for a while.
Wish there was a permanant fix cause it does get annoying.

According to my research, editing the build.prop file on Sense ROMS doesn't directly reflect what is listed in About Phone. It seems that you have to edit default.xml in /system/custom/CID.... before installing the ROM
Yeah I read the same thing.right after i posted that... Oh well! Maybe when I get bored enough to do it. And after further testing i concluded that changing the default.xml to disable some of the keyboard layouts and things as gtg465x did didn't really help all that much... On the bright side, i may just go back to inspired ace and use uot kitchen to customize it

So nobody has any other potential fixes for these freezes? Has it happened on every ROM you guys have used or what? I tried replacing my customize folder with the one from ia with cut down keyboard languages and layouts but no luck. Maybe we can find a fix!
EDIT: There may appear to be some confusion here. The problem in reference is not that the keyboard fails to rotate, gets stuck in landscape, or shows that a message is being typed and nothing appears on screen. The problem I am having here is that certain keys in random order at completely random times do not work but the keys around them do. This results in messages such as "Hey that bnd sunded relly gd" instead of "Hey that band sounded really good!!!" because the A and O ceased to function and likewise the exclamation point which is with the A. Also, at times the key will show it is being pressed but stops registering before the symbol it relates to is pressed. These problems exist on stock android keyboard and on sense keyboard. Hopefully someone will find a fix in drivers or something otherwise we will have to wait for a cracked official OTA GB update if that ever happens as they say it will...

I´m having the same issue, and it´s driving me crazy!!!
It´s weird, because I´ve had this phone for months, and had no problems, until a week ago.
I´m on Stock ROM BTW.
no solution? this is an on going problem and hard to ignore...
I have to agree with everyone here.. It is a pretty glaring flaw in the Inspire. And many people think that it barely happens.. But it is a problem that occurs for me at least 5 times a day and that is not an exaggeration. Everything that I have been reading does say that this is an impossible thing to fix.. Just a bit frustrating. Does anyone have a way that lessens this from occurring?
ive had this problem also for awhile. ive had it on every custom rom that i can think of. i used coredroid and cm7 for awhile. right now im using miui. ive tried 3-4 different keyboard at least, and had this problem with all of them. the keyboards accuracy also seems to decline. when switching to a new keyboard the problem initially goes away, but it eventually starts doing it again with the different keyboard.
finally! thanks you, guys. Finally I get support for a bug that supposedly didn't exist. I have been out of the rooting and ROM flashing game for a few months, as I got a new Inspire and never got the chance to root it. I finally caught a break from school work and got fed up with having to do battery pulls on the ATT stock ROM (terribly made, I must say. Sense froze daily.) I rooted and flashed the trusty old Inspired Ace and what do you know? flawless. as always. I flash the new coredroid 8.1 to see if the keyboard bug still persisted. For the first day, I had no problems. Then the freezes came back. I think it is very possibly a side effect of the undervolt kernel. As for those that say all phones are not created equally, and my processor just can't take the ROM, is that really likely on two phones in a row while the inspired ace ROM works flawlessly?
Edit: Also, for those that say stick to IA if it works, it hasn't been updated in a long long time and never will be since GTG465x moved to the Captivate
It's not that people don't beleive you, its just that this is not a common enough bug for it to be a software issue. It has to be a specific hardware malfunction. I have never had this problem on any Rom configuration that I have used. I have never seen it as a reported bug either.
Sent from my Inspire 4G Using XDA Premium
Good point... It just still doesn't make since since one DHD ROM didn't do it all yet others do. Coredroid I is not doing it nearly as severely cd6 did. So maybe there is hope that it is a fluke combination of hardware and software bugs rarely manifested.

Bump
Well, in preparation for android 4 I decided to get used to AOSP ROMs since they will probably be more widely available than ICS Sense ROMs. After using cm7.1 for just two days, the bug is still there. Note that this is a different inspire than the thread was started on. Does anyone have any solutions? It just makes no sense that this bug does not occur for me on Inspired Ace or Stock but does on every other GB Rom I have tested. For everyone reading this with the urge to pop a comment at me like "Stupid, stick with IA if it works," that ROM has been abandoned since May 5, so it is outdated. Any hopes for ICS roms solving the problem?
Keyboard app is not the problem. Does it on touch input (sense ROMs), swiftkey X, swype, and android default keyboard.
(First i wanna say: all credits are going to jug6ernaut the creator of this fix)
-= Install Script Updated =-
I want to point our devs & chefs to a fix which fixes our Battery jumping and misreading of the % level of our battery.
I know we all are suffering from this and a couple off months ago "jug6ernaut" made a fix for this problem which proved to work on the atrix 4G.
I found this fix back then while i was searching for a solution for my HTC Desire rom.
Which had the same problem and i saw this issue occurring again at the time i got my Sensation 2 months ago.
At the time i released my first Sense-o-Maniac Sense 3.5 i implanted these files and the jumping % where over.
Thought this fix will be picked up by others devs but it didn't appear to be.
So thats why i made this topic after a small discussion with "Hlenforcer" who was at first point was a bit sceptic about his.
And he is convinced after trying this fix.
I know you'll be sceptic about this fix.
But please try it and you'll see the magic
What does it do:
While my knowledge is going that far.
I can't realy say what the magic is behind these files.
But it fixes the battery jumping % which occurs after a reboot.
And it fixes the misreading of the % level, i mean our sensations are stuck at a certain % level until it drops like a stone.
I know you all will be sceptic but i'm convinced about the fix and you'll will to after trying it
I'm so convinced about this since i used these fix i never have done batt calibration.
I flash and reflash my rom for development couple off times a day.
I really can't understand why no dev picked it up since we all got the same problem.

Indeed, the real knowledge isn't mentioned in the topic by the creator of this fix.
So i hope someone with more experience on this can reveal it.
But i can tell it's for all GB 2.3.x roms.
I have tried it on my 2.3.3 Desire, 2.3.4 Wildfire S, 2.3.4 Galaxy Tab and my 2.3.5 Sensation
And it worked on all my device like a charm

I had serious jumping issues..
yesterday got Anker battery and charged to full. it remained on 100% for 5 hours in standby mode I was jumping with happiness that I got a great battery and suddenly when I stayed to use it for 10 mins my battery fell in a well.. it was 82%..
really surprised me too that Room devs have not fixed this issue when there was a cure ..
running ARHD 4.1.5 with faux kernel
I will try this and report back
On my old desire i noticed sometimes after overnight screenoff on a couple of occasions 12-15 hours later it was still 100%
Of course it dropped like a stone when i used the phone

I have to say that the first 1% starting from 100% does indeed take a log time.
But with this fix it still does but not for 5hours mine is take a bout 30min.
Also after a good night rest i see a normal batt % increase level.
I mean: going to bed with 100% and waking up with 97% after 7 hours of sleep.
This will not fix our enlarge your battery endurance only the misleading reading issue.

At least for me it worked really good! (InsertCoin 3.4.1 with bricked beta 509 and anker battery)
Would be really great, if some more ppl could join testing, flashing this should not brake anything in the ROM but you should make NAND backup ofc ...
Installed on Hypersensation with Faux's Kernel 0.23.
Looks like it's working good
Dankjewel
on ARHD it worked.... thanks...
the first 1% battery drop taking long is present in almost all custom roms except for Stock rooted by Eddy which doesn't suffer this indicator issues...
I have defintely seen the "jumping" occur
on my Sensation, on every version of ARHD since 3.1. OK, I am going to try it and report back later.
UPDATE: After installing my battery level did not change. Charging now.
That's great that it's helping but that isn't the hard part.... We've "diagnosed " the problem and have a "fix" but we have no idea what it's doing: the important part .
We really need to take these files apart and figure out WHY it's helping. Otherwise this fix is nothing but a band aid.
We may even need some dev assistance reverse engineering the files to figure out what's different.

Sharing is caring. Mind telling us what does this do?
Hey everyone I have a problem on one of my sensations and just want to see if anybody knows of a fix for this. The haptic feedback on my sensation will just randomly quit working and really no telling how long it will take to start up again. I thought that this was from or even app related but even on a fresh install of my miui rom, insert coin ice, virtuous inquisition, or even quattro this randomly happens. Some can't pinpoint it to ics or gingerbread. Also ruled out rom because it happened in 4ext recovery last night as well. So I figured that this must be a hardware issue so gave T-Mobile a ring and they said it is a known issue with sensation and to install an app called sound manager which has vibrate settings in it. This just sounds like a load of BS and I'm wondering if there is something from one of the ruu's that this phone needs. Both mine and my wife's sensations have been updated all the same and mine never comes across this issue. Anybody got a good idea for me to go after?
Sent from my Sensation Rockin an ICS rom, changes daily!
When a rom restarts say for example like a lot of the ICS roms under high graphical use can it cause any problems? I mean bricking or hardware problems or is it just a minor annoyance?
Otherwise it doesn't matter to me when a rom restarts.
Thanks
I'm pretty sure it does not cause any further problems. But it's really annoying when you want to use your phone but it keeps restarting or freezing all the time. As soon as kernel 3.0 is released all issues like that will be sorted out.

Really don't know. I think it will come this year, maybe within the next months. But if you don't need a fully working camera and can life (/live??? I never know the right one ) with some reboots and freezes, you can use sense 4.0 by prox or some of the aosp ics roms right now.
since I need camera and a stable ROM for everyday use, I will stick to endy until kernel 3.0 is there.
Really love good old(^^) sense 3.5, but ics brings some really cool improvements I don't want to miss too

One more thing does the Vol Up + Vol Down + Power combo work every time for a freeze?

OK, live, thanks
No, sadly it doesn't. I'm trying every time to reboot my phone but it does not work. Its said that you'll have to wait until the battery drains out (which can last long if you want it to drain). But fortunately on 7.1 I never had to wait that long, the phone rebooted automatically after about 30 minutes. I do NEVER pull the battery while the phone is on, you should not do too.
ps: if you are not using it already, try apex launcher on ics 7.1
Really great

Oops, wrong button..
Ah that's too bad well if I get too many freezes then I'll have to goto Endy for a while and yh I'll try apex see how it goes. Thanks again!
I have been using ICS since the beginning, lately the phone has been shutting down with a message "Unfortunately, the process com. android.phone has stopped". The only way to get operating again is to Super Wipe and reload the ROM.
I have formated my SD card, and used ROM Cleaner to no avail.
The only pattern I have noticed is it will/may occur following the loading a kernel and also making a nandroid.
I am considering uninstalling all my apps and start a ROM with apps from Google Store, thinking I may have a bad app.
Any thoughts from anyone?

Are you flashing any special mods? Any zips that skin anything, Leedroid Tweaks, etc etc? If there's anything like that, that could be the problem. Could be a application with root access that's causing it also.
