I don't know of there's hindering issues with development but I feel like all there is out is sense roms. It dissappoints me.. and most of the sense roms are plain.. the same. I'm not trying to start a war or anything, just wondering. I miss fully customized aosp roms and including sense.

(Speaking as a lurker) It seems like development has slowed down a bit in recent weeks, but I think there's plenty of roms out there. I'm not sure what you're exactly looking for in a rom, but between CM7 and the huge amount of Sense roms out there (that have been themed or for which you can download skins for), I've been more than satisfied.
What other roms u want? There's aosp, cm7 nd miui
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
lack of devs? are you serious? what else can you ask for
it sure has slowed down a bit cause were all waiting for ICS and theres pretty much nothing new at the moment
ICS isnt that impressive imo, but im sure it wont be long till theres a few ports out, maybe a week or so... you could always learn and make one yourself
lack of devs lol you guys have more than the evo 3d
Aren't there are over 20 ROMs in the dev section? Sense, CM7, MIUI, AOSP that are anywhere from stock to Frankenstein'd out.
Sent from my HTC Sensation
One thread lists 32 ROMs, how many do you feel there should be for one phone?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I have CM7, and we'll probably be getting CM9 in a few weeks, so I'm happy with the current state of affairs. It was worse for the original Samsung Galaxy S - that thing didn't get any truly custom ROMs for months!
Well, yes, development has slowed down, there no new leaks to work from
Cm7 and miui are being polished at the moment.
As it stands NOW, sensation is a device for sense fans, choice of sense ROMs is huge.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
There is no point in this thread.
There is a multitude of roms to choose from in the development section.
No new leaks means development has to slow down.

what is the difference between sense 3.0 and 3.5? and which one was on the stock sensation 4g?
3.0 came on sensation 4g
i think that we needed a new platform to support these new senses 3.0 and 3.5

This is funny!
I would say you try by yourself and decide for yourself, Everyone has different opinions and will probably give you their own personal perspective.
You might have a different opinion and like something else or maybe not. just flash the most used ones and see if you like them and go from there.

I agree with this guy here as opposed to the other two members. I've tried BOTH roms listed and they're basically the same. Just very ever so slightly different. I used to use ARHD but then I started using other roms because Mike doesn't update his often. InsertCoin gets updated pretty good but I experience issues once in a while (it's nothing severe though) and it's not a bad rom at all. I'm using bulletproof though because I love all the mods he adds on. It's really up to you, gotta try and find out what you want and like.
Agree that it's up to you to try, test, tune, etc what's best for your needs & likes! Take a deep read in the Development section...happy flashing!
CM7 is the best rom on sensation by far.
CM7.

I started using custom ROMs with my G1 and CyanogenMod. I stuck with that exclusively for a really long time through different devices. Since it has taken a while for CM to come out on the Sensation, I started flashing all kinds of different ROMs. That's the beauty of Android and XDA. You can try all kinds of stuff out and decide what you like the best. I currently use Android Revolution HD 4.1.3 (Android 2.3.5, Sense 3.5) with the Amaze camera. I'll use this until a stable version of CM comes out with a better camera. I also use ADW.Ex launcher. This works for me for now because it has a really nice camera, but I've tried a TON of ROMs. Whatever you do, ALWAYS search for answers, use the appropriate forums (General, Q&A, Themes & Apps) properly, and have fun.

If you like Sense and eye pleasing colours and animations go with CoreDroid. Wipe battery stats when you flash a new rom (made a big difference for me).
Soooooo, ever since the release of the nexus galaxy sporting the new adroid 4.0, i wondered, will we get the update, and if not, is there a way to replicate the look of the deivice theme wise,i love the way it looks!
HTC has not confirmed nor denied the Inspire will be getting ICS. I'd bet not, and if we do it will take a LONG time, or one of the devs here will port it.
In the mean time, if you head over to the Android Development and Hacking section, and check out the Android Themes sub-forum there are a lot of different launchers and themes with ICS flavoring.

I agree with him on the themes portion. There are MANY themes that are ICS, and many of them work well, and look VERY smooth.
Concerning ICS and the HTC Inspire. Looking at the specifications of the Galaxy Nexus, the Inspire has the internal components that can handle ICS. The processor for the Inspire is faster than the Galaxy, and so on. The only difference between the two is that the Inspire has dedicated soft keys on the home screen, whereas the Galaxy Nexus will have the home screen buttons as part of ICS itself.
Also, after talking to HTC, they're currently looking into how they can roll out ICS updates for as many phones as possible. I also read somewhere that most of, if not all, 2.3 phones WILL receive the update. Until then, continue looking at the forums and wait until a recognized developer ports to Inspire. Hope this helps!

I wish all we had to worry abut was when HTC was gonna release it but we have to wait for ATT as it will be them that finally releases an official release for our phones. It may not happen and we will have to use a port from the DHD which only has to wait for the HTC

Unless they denied it within the last week, it is still floating in limbo. Some say the HTC Ace and Stallion, which are the code names for DHD and Inspire, should receive ICS

Even if the inspire doesn't get an official update to ICS there will be a custom rom
I don't think there will ever be an official release. We may get a newer gingerbread upgrade since the last on bites, but development for the inspire leaves us with better roms than stock anyway. I bet there will be a better more stable release through xda before ics ever hits officially for the inspire, but I don't think it ever will. I emailed HTC and asked if we would be getting ics or any other upgrades and they said they are working to make the experience better for the inspire but do not have anything in the works currently. This lead me to beleive they are long past worrying about the inspire. We will probably not even get a better gingerbread build imo.
HTC already released the list of devices that are getting ICS, Inspire4g/desire hd not in it.

Yeah i saw it somewhere it wasn't the complete list, but i find it hard to believe an 1 year old phone get the second update of its existence; the phone is technically 1 year old, considering its a variation of the DHD (released in september '10 I believe)

It wont matter really what HTC releases. It will be up to ATT to release a build built for the inspire or the best we can hope for is a port from the DHD. ATT normally has done a One OS update per device and thebinspire got theirs already. Hope I am wrong but history says I am not.

That won't change the horrible Sense apps. Yes, you could root your phone install an AOSP rom, but you shouldn't have to do that to make your phone work like it's supposed it.
HTC/other OEMS should just give an option to de-sense the phone somehow. If I had a pure-Google experience I wouldn't even need to root my phone.
Again why buy HTC then. The hardware specs are available in many other phones. IMHO.

I guess I'm feeling it too. But don't get me wrong, I really appreciate what our devs still do. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Sensation development is "mature" now. Outside of CM10, there really isn't anything new on the horizon for us, and even then I feel like CM10 will end up 90% complete just like CM9. By now, most of our devs no longer use Sensation as their primary device. So the fire just isn't there anymore.
Just wait until it's time for a new device. Then the excitement can begin all over again. One more year on my contract...

C'mon man we have plenty of dev around here, we have sense 3.6, sense 4, fully working cm9, paranoid android, miui, some senseless aosp rom, we have a lot of rom to choose, we even have cm10 (will wait for camera and tethering to work and voila we have fully working jellybean), look at other phone development, they want sense (except htc) , they dont have such great development like us.
C'mon this is 2011 phone, we still have a great dev here. Ok, we cant beat the legendary phone like HD2, but we still have a lot of choice here
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I've got to say we have plenty off dev support here. I mean what more do you want? The only thing that we don't have for CM10 is a camera. Other than that we have touchwiz, miui, sense 4, GB, ICS, AOSP,AOKP,etc. There seriously isn't anything this phone doesn't have. If you think a conquered horizon isn't beautiful, then nothing may please you. Sure, there are new phones out, but very few will make ours look like a corded phone (aka its not even close to outdated yet). I'll start complaining when our hardware doesn't support the latest Android. Right now, no reason to
