I currently have my phone setup as ext3 running MIUI (last weeks). I want to know how to convert my filesystem to ext4 ? Do I need to run NvFlash again ?
Thanks
Not really sure how to do it manually, but if you flash faux123 4.3 kernel it will do it for you, make sure it is 4.3, very nice kernel good battery life and fast.

Well I was going to try
[ROM][Gingerbread 2.3.3] Weapon G2x 3.0_R1 [NEW TWEAKS APP & FEATURES!][10.22.2011] WhiteHawxk.
Faux .4.3 kernel doesnt convert partition to ext4, it leaves it the same, but it mounts as ext4.
Edit: i myself use this w/ miui

This kernel works with on EB13 with both RFS and EXT4.
This is a PROPER release of the kernel, as it includes the new initramfs changes from EB13.

cant wait for the new Quantum Rom by the Way!
Can we flash this Kernel on CWM3 & then flashed the De-oxidized pre-rooted rom?
If not, how do we make it work on EXT4?
Thanks Dameon... I can't imagine why we still want to support RFS,since you were the big backer of EXT4 in the beggining, and we have all proved it safe. Just want to see the kernel as clean as possible... And I can't wait to see you put out an OC/UV kernel.

So do u have to do the 1 click root v.2.5.x install the kernal then do the 1 click root cwm3? I'm just confused a bit.

Didn't work for me. Shows the stock "Android" logo flashing over the boot animation and then the phone freezes and keeps soft-resetting. Followed the directions to a T, guess it just doesn't like me.

no use the one click root from the link i provided. it will install cwm 3 once you reboot and convert everything to ext4 automatically. then all you do is flas the kernel.

Anyone got this working on eb13 with ext4?

I have clockwork mod 3.0.2.7 and I don't believe it has EXT4 support. First, what is the difference between ext3 and ext4? Second, why are all of the latest kernels, namely Morfic's Trinity, Ext4 only? Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question. It just seems like people are very helpful here. I tried Google but I the responses were confusing. Thanks in advance.

Ext4 is faster, Trinity is true ext4, faux kernel mounts as ext4 for easy switching I guess.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Thats it. EXT4 is faster. I'm sure there are other benefits but it being faster is why you would sought after it.
I don't use it simply because I flash nightlies so often that EXT4 kernels aren't caught up. Sure they should work most of the time on new roms, but with the G2x being so new and so many changes are being made to make it stable, using a custom kernel right now just isn't worth it.
Your best bet is to focus on a custom kernel and use what they use. I would recommend cutting flashing back a little to prevent unneeded hardships with conflicting kernels/nightlies.
Once development slows down from getting the drivers to function properly, I'll give it a shot. I hear the UnderVolted kernels are fantastic for battery.
I just flash so often that it is an additional pain to flash a custom kernel over top every time. Plus I use Rom Manager which makes flashing effortlessly easy. For me to use kernels would require me to boot back into Recovery manually and flash the kernel every day.
Maybe one day CM7 will move to EXT4 and I don't have to worry about it.
Team ACIDS goal for the ICBINB series roms are to give you the stock look, but with every tweak known to the sgs4g community. Damn you guys rock. One thing holding me back right now from getting ext4 on system is "not enough space on sdcard" tried it with ICINB and KH1 dropping honks kernal. I have already partitioned the card for audiophile so the partition is there it just isn't being recognized by GB. Everything else is on ext4 and working great. I really don't want to lose another gig if I don't have to. I'm on an old Ibook G4 Mac. So any way to get GB to notice the partition that's already there?
(and yes I READ ALOT AND THEN EVEN MORE). In all I've read there isn't an answer at this time other than cwm advanced repartition 1048 swap 0? BUT IT'S THERE ALREADY!
THANKS

Just because you did it on audiophile doesn't mean it worked, makea new partition in cwm and retry the conversion

Hrm, I'm flashing from ICBINB KG6 v1. I realized that SD Booster isn't there (I'm assuming it was supposed to be there, since ICBINB KG6 v2 has it).
This is what I did:
NANDROID of ICBINB KG6 v1
Turned off lagfix
CWM flashed ICBINB KH1
Made sure lagfix was off
Booted up
Installed BusyBox 1.17.1
Turned on lagfix
CWM Recovery > DID NOT WIPE DATA, only wiped cache
Advance restored NANDROID ICBINB KG6 v1
Converted to ext4
Everything works soo sexily, but I just noticed SD booster isn't there. I know SD booster is available through the market though. Just wanna make sure if it's not meant to be there and if I can install it!
As always, thanks again for this amazing ROM!
Hmmm sdbooster should be there grab a file explorer and look in /data/app or simply install from market, it should be there though are you sure your ext4 converter went through properly

Yup, I heard Linda sing. I'll just pick it up from the market. Btw, what size would you recommend for the SD Booster cache?
On another note, I'm hitting 2,200-2,300 on Quadrant at 1.0. Super buttery smooth! Only complaint is that my games aren't running as smooth as ICBINB Froyo.
Why are all the decent current roms still 2.3.4 based.. i really wanna go EXT4 but all i can seem to find are 2.3.4 kernals with the lagfix option.. i have a nexus s 4g and im currently stock with custom kernal.. but no EXT support.. are there any steps i should take before downgrading to 2.3.4?
The only difference is the 2.3.5 kernels included some fixes for the ns4g.

Some wifi drivers got updated afaik
What's the advantage to going ext4? Or partitioning in general?

This phone is ext 4 native. don't stress on a lag fix flash a 235 ROM with some system tweaks to speed up. Get a stable 1.4 gig kernel and oc to 1.2

Dear Mr. EaglesBlood Dev. (doniqcc)
I'm a noob and have a question about the [ROM]EaglesBlood GB 2.3.3 For G2X (9-Aug-2011) based of the OTA release. One of the excellent features you have baked into your ROM is swap "[*]Added swap". I am currently using Dragon's [Kernel] Dragon-G2x v1.3 (CM7/Trigger) [9/21/2011] Based of Faux's OTA Kernel 1.3. Dragon's kernel has "zram compressed swap" baked into it as well. I have read the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18041465 about enabling swap in Android and wanted to ask how I could combine these three things.
How can I combine these three things?
1. Your ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139832)
2. Android Swap (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18041465)
3. Dragon's Swap ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229932)
The dragon kernel thread has a script to enable swap. If you want non-compressed swap via a partition or swap file, the simple way is an app called swapper. It's in the market.
You might also want to check the EB 2.3.3 thread. Version 1.09 came out last night with some changes.
Yep I understand

I have used the script and even transcribed it to init.d/99userinit, but the kernel does not support init scripts. I was hoping to uncover how Eaglesbloods ROM does it so that I could modify it to use the compressed version in Dragon.

True, init script support isn't there. I couldn't get it working reliably. That is why I suggested script manager. It's free, and can load scripts at boot.
I could do that.
I could use Script Manager and am on Weapon 2.6. But if I want to use it on EB 1.09 then I must understand how to turn off EB 1.09 built in swap and recreate it on the compressed swap provided by Dragon, and as I said I am a noob and have no Idea how to do that.
I enjoy the stability of Dragons kernel + Weapon 2.6 because I get days of battery life and very few of those Pause\Reboot issues. But I also really like the work that has been put into EB 1.09 Rom.
Which is better EB or weapon

I don't think they enable swap by default. Check in setcpu info/memory. Swap total is probably 0.

You were correct ! I am now using EB 1.0.9 OTA and Dragons 1.03 kernel. I have no Slow boot issue. I am using Script Manager Ads for the swap script and it runs correctly at boot. I have opened every app on my phone (60 user apps) and I have 91mb free ram and 30.6mb in swap. Battery life does not seem to suffer at all, no partial wake locks from the swap.
Thanks all.
