Is there no way for me to unlock my phone now? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't figure out how to unlock my phone anymore. I originally unlocked 7008 with Chevron, but lost the unlock upon updating to Mango. My only backup, as of now, is of 7392.
I couldn't get the DFT HSPL thing to load on my phone. I have no interest in developing, but I do enjoy being able to modify some more advanced settings such as custom colors.
EDIT: My phone is an T-Mobile HTC HD7. I attempted to flash it earlier by HSPL, but it failed. Now when I load the bootloader, it just says "PD29110 SS-BC (4K). Is my bootloader damaged? I can't seem to get into USB mode.

[q] nodo jailbreak

Alright. Here's the story.
I have a Windows 7 64bit computer
+ lg Quantum.
I recently upgraded to the official nodo upgrade
I tried to jailbreak (unlock) my phone and followed all the steps looking at various guides but i could never get pass the
"Uh oh" cannot commmunicate with your phone blah blah make sure that zune is up and ur phone is connected.
And no, im not resetting my phone
Is there a way to unlock after the nodo upgrade?
and if not is there a way to downgrade your wp7?
if you have nodo, than you can not unlock the device.
must make it before..
jap thats right...
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Neither of the two posters above me is correct.
To get an official unlock, you have to buy a Marketplace developer account from Microsoft. These aren't available in all parts of the world yet, but where they are, they are considered the "official" option for side-loading apps. This is available on all phones and all versions.
To un-officially unlock your device, use the built-in registry editor in the LG manufacturer/diagnostics app. http://wmpoweruser.com/debranding-tutorial-for-lg-phones-to-hurry-nodo-along-needs-to-dev-unlock/ has the instructions to do so. Developer-unlock is just a registry key; a little searching on this forum will revela which one (I forget offhand).
To roll back your device to pre-NoDO (which will allow ChevronWP7 to work), connect it the Zune software, and then go to Settings -> Device -> Update. There should be an option to restore to the backup which was made when installing NoDo. Note that this is not reversible; you'll lose everything you did since the upgrade. Also note that while restoring this backup will downgrade the phone, simply factory-restting it will not.
The only reason why I want to unlock my device is so that i can install homebrew applications. Sorry i am not bright in technical areas, what does DEBRANDING your phone do?
and will Chevron work after i downgraded my phone?
Unlocking on LG phones works via MFG even after NoDo
yep, Gooddaytodie is correct - almost . Use the MFG registry editor as described step by step in this guide. This still works AFTER NoDo update. I did not unlock or hack my phone before I received the NoDo update.
You do not need to roll back! You don't have to debrand your phone either. Debranding is a change from ATT-US to 000-88 or something other than your current provider and is required if you want to obtain NoDo "unofficially". This can be done in the registry as well. But there is no need for you to do this.
You also don't need the chevron unlocker (in fact it won't work after the registry hack - but you don't need it because it's unlocked already).
Follow the steps in the link and you will have an unlocked phone. I hope you did not unnecessarily roll back yet .
good luck. If you have questions about steps in that guide, send me a PM and I will be glad to help.

[Q] Downgrade ???

Hy guys.
I have made a windows phone 7 app using visual studio 2010, it works fine with the emulator, but i need to put it on my phone.I have an HTC Mozart.
First of all i think i need to unlock my phone, but my os version is 7.0.7390.
I reseted my phone from setting/about/reset , but after that my version is still 7390.
I really need to put my app on my phone, how can i downgrade my os version so i can unlock my phone with the Chevron unlocker ?
Or it is possible to run my app on my phone without unlocking ?
Please help. Thanks.

No. In order to deploy your app to on your device, it needs to be unlocked. Resetting won't help you there, since it doesn't do anything more then wipe the data and bring it back to its factory state. Which means the factory state of your current ROM version. Which in your case is 7390. If you want to put your phone back into a pre NoDo state you should head over to the HTC Mozart forums and have a look for a pre NoDo ROM that you can flash. You'll then be able to unlock your device with chevron and apply all current official updates afterwards. Your device will remain unlocked.
Don't forget about your backup.
You should have a backup of 7008 which can be unlocked (that's what you're looking for).
To check that, Zune, Phone, Settings, Update, there should be a Restore there.

True. I don't know why, but for some reason I didn't even consider that point.
i have restored it ( twice ) but the last restore point is from 5 may and my version is still 7390
I managed to downgrade, i flashed my phone with RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_1.23.401.06_Radio_5.51.09.06_22.30.50.09U_by_ansar, it's a 7004 version, and then i unlocked it. I can run my app on my phone now

To reinstall chevron unlock from NODO can I roll back to pre-nodo?

Title says it all. I have my pre-nodo back up but I don't have the original launch version of the OS. At first I didn't care that nodo re-locked it. My HTC surround is not even my main device anymore. Still, I figured it be cool to unlock it again before going Mango. If I am unable to do the chevron unlock from pre-nodo is their currently any other way to unlock the device w/o a student account or paying the $99 developer fee?
prenodo is the only other way... restore ur prenodo back then unlock it...
I rolled back to 7390 and am having trouble unlocking. Can it be unlocked from here? I'm getting:
please make sure it is connected using usb
please start zune application
Edit: just searched and read that I can. Is it possible to flash 7004 without a backup? This is for an HTC surround
yes if there is a rom available u can flash it...

A liltle help needed

My friend stumbled on a samsung focus windows phone 7. It had the nodo update 7390, ive tried to use chevron unlock to install some of the xap's that helps prevent it from relocking it when updating it, but the chevron unlock wont work at all i keep getting the error that says i have to make sure my device is connected and zune software installed but i do have everything set up correctly and still i get that error Can some one please help me? Am I missing something? i know i have done it before but now it just doesnt want to work anymore. Thanks in advance
I am facing the same issue, I had my Samsung Focus chevron + interop unlocked and upgraded to Mango. All was well, I decided to upgrade memory, hence I installed a 16 GB micro SD card. For installing it I had to reset the phone. Now to have it unlocked again, I tried restoring to my previous restore point 7008 version, which didnt work, probably because of the change in the memory size, I restored to 7008 by removing the micro SD card but now I could not manage to get unlocked again, I suppose Chevron labs certificate has either expired or they have disabled the feature to unlock using the chevron tool.
Please provide me an alternate method to developer unlock my samsung focus or a method to install micro SD without resetting.
@ZeroBreak: it's quite well documented online than ChevronWP7 Unlock doesn't work on NoDo. You need to be on build 7004 or 7008. It wasn't supposed to work at all, and was "fixed" in 7389 and later builds.
@amyth1884: Changing the storage always requires a hard reset, and as you noticed, you can't restore a backup from a different storage size.
For both of you: There are other ways to get dev-unlock. Marketplace developer account is the official way ($99 unless you're a student). A semi-official Chevron WP7 Labs has been "coming soon" for a while, $9. Anybody who has an official account can also unlock multiple phones, so if you've got a friend with an account but not using all his or her unlock slots, that may work.

[Q] Interop unlock, unsolvable problem?

Hey XDA'ers,
I have the following problem, I had my phone interop unlocked, a samsung omnia 7, now I resetted it and it deleted the interop unlock. Well, no problem there cause I had my Token from chevronlabs, no interop, but OK.
So now I want to interop again, but the problem is the samsung firmware update KK2... I didn't have the problem back then, because it doesn't relock your phone but now I can't interop unlock and that's quite a pity, how do I solve this?
So: When I try windowsbreak or the Heathcliff74 unlocks the options don't appear in diagnostics, because of the KK2 update, then again, is this solvable?
Thanks,
Kristan
Roll back to a previous backup, or flash a stock ROM with an older firmware, or unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM.
Since you've already hard-reset, the second may be the best option. Up to you, though.

Thanks, not sure how to do this though..., got any useful links?
I found links at the bottom of the page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131891&page=13#
Which should I use to: get Interop again and then update to mango where I am right now again? I don't really understand the numbers...
