Nozomi pics aplenty here

No news from Aoba
...yet
Looks SUPER thin

Nice find. Not sure if I welcome their decision to maintain hardware keys though. Also, the shift away from removable storage seems to be a trend. Design wise, I might be contented with a phone that looks like the recently announced Walkman Z.

Oh yeah nice one, hope they will release it and with the newest android !!
Sony ericsson is absolutly my favorite phone.

Ahhh! All these lustworthy phones being announced
It looks really nice, beautifull housing and the specs are very much what I would want. I'd like to see an IPS screen and NFC. Then if they could remove the hardware buttons and release it with an unlocked bootloader (like they promised some time ago), I'd seriously be checking in with this device. Especially as they might release a version with a hardware keyboard.

Reality display with 320+ dpi = epicness
Timescape with dualcore and Adreno 220 = epicness
Brushed aluminium body = epicness
Exmor R camera = epicness
This device will be a combo-breaker!

Brushed aluminium body?? OMG..

sony ericsson looks nice,I like it

Anybody see the name Nozomi and instantly think of the recently ended Bleach arc?
Lol

Hardware buttons are a good thing. This trend of other manufacturers towards non-tactile buttons just because that is what is fashionable is foolish and nothing more than form over function. Absolutely love the hardware buttons on my Xperia pro - can press them without looking.
I also hate the loss of SD card if true - it's a stupid trend. I love the fact that currently you can easily upgrade your storage with SD cards and save yourself cash at the same time. E.g. My current phone came with an 8 gb card, but I had a 16gb card that I bought for my previous phone. I use the 16 gb card in my new phone and use the 8 gb card in a tiny USB reader so it acts as a USB flash drive.

It reminds me of Satio...
And I like it a lot... will buy one...

I dont know, SE with brushed aliminium? Lately they seem to be offering phones in multiple colors. I dont think they are going to steer away from it.

I would love this if it used WP7. Hoping Sony will make it that way.

The device sounds promising. Although I'm a little skeptical about the specs here.
The picture is (obviously) photoshopped.

Looks nice, love the brushed aluminum.

That's correct. It even got a forum here, and shared its guts with rhodium and topaz phones; ROM cooking and cross-porting was a breeze. I dunno why SE didn't notice THAT fact accounted for a big portion of its success. The X2 failed because it didn't get xda-devs (and free community) support until very later, and replaced metal with plastic.

HTC Touch Pro VS. Sony Xperia X1 (unboxed)

Just saw the following video:
http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/13/sony-ericsson-xperia-x1-unboxed-played-with-on-video/
unboxing of the X1.
Since I live in Canada, would it be wise to change my TP to an X1? Reason is that the TP has no 3G in Canada and Rogers has not mentioned anything about it but they are getting the 3G Touch Diamond soon.
I can live without the video output and less keys on the keyboard but the video resolution might be a problem with some apps
According to pdadb.net, the X1 has more RAM than the TP.
I don't feel like buying a AT&T Fuze and having to unlock it for Rogers.
Is HTC making an unlocked North American version of the HTC Touch Pro?
The X1 has less RAM than the TP.
Ram:
TP = 288MB
X1 = 384MB

the official release of the xperia has 256 MB of RAM, not 384 like most ppl thought
I'm not sold on that X1, the TP still seems to have the upper hand - the X1's 4 row keyboard is way inferior to the 5 row on the TP in terms of user friendliness...
Also to the OP, try and import a UK TP, you get 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA and it's unlockable online... might be better than getting a crippled version by way of the Fuze...

No GSensor, no sale.
I'm glad I got the TP before the X1 came out.
that keyboard really does look pants! the 5 row on the touch pro is awesome, couldn't go back now. isn't a keyboard the main reason you would choose the touch pro / x1 over a diamond / touch hd / omnia?
X1 doesn't have accelerometer...and did you see how slow the screen rotated when he slid out the keyboard?!
i think telus is bringing touch pro to canada, and I wouldn't be surprised if Rogers does the same. They're practically ATT's lil brother. Everything ATT does, Rogers does too, except to a farther extent such as making you sign a 3 yr contract
worst case scenario: get an unlocked ATT version of TP.
My boss is a mobile freak, and getsa new one every month, he had the diamond and changed for the diamond pro and now bought the xperia.
He gave me the touch pro and i have the diamond also. I think the touch pro is alot more fun, its a bit smaller but still got power enough.
And the system on the xperia is not that special compared to the touch flo 3d. I really like the touch flo 3d.
I would buy the Diamond pro.
It seems like it would be a lot easier to type on the X1's larger QWERTY keyboard as 4 rows lends to bigger keys than 5 rows.
Also, don't the 3in screen, the aluminum construction, and extra inclusion of more 3G bands of the X1 count for something?
I like the Touch Pro, and may get one since I'm on ATT, but the tiny screen is so last generation device imo. I'm pretty confident, that the Touch Pro will be the last flagship device from HTC with the tiny 2.8in screen.
the diamond are slow too when use the acele.....
i prefer acele.... of the omnia, but of course i prefer the diamond becouse anothers cheats
omnia arey ou nuts??? the worst pda ive ever seen and the returns on that handset are stupdendiously high, ive tested my tp against the office omnia and mine p***es all over it
Lets not forget the GFX accel. of the X1. Sappose to be way better than the touch pro. I hear video playback is real nice on the X1 and with the larger screen, it looks outstanding! The touch pro is a REAL nice device but I've gotta say, the construction of the X1 is very sweet. I would not make the 5th row that much of an advantage over the X1. I saw a review where someone said they were typing mad fast after just an hour with the X1 so thats all I care about. + 288 vs. 256... Not even enought to make a difference! BTW, Someone did install panels on a touch pro and it was a slide show!
Eyy guys
I think the Touch Pro is and will be better than the X1, HTC ain´t that stupid, they won´t make a phone for another brand that is better than their own when they are competing in the same class...
That´s why the X1 lacks number keys and many other keys and accelerometer.

Its the same way with Samsung and Dell LCDs. Samsung saves the better displays for its own brand and Dell gets slightly lower quality LCDs from Sammy.
I've about decided to hold out for the Touch HD and use it on AT&Ts Edge network here in the US like im doing with my Touch Pro now. I know it would be nice to have 3G when I travel, but having a 3.8 Inch screen is so much better for media and reading text. All depends on how soon I can get my grubby little hands on a Touch HD.
Man if they added a keyboard to the HD and made it a true 3G world phone, I'd be so happy.

Lol, I seriously don't get the people that want a keyboard on the Touch HD. Go buy a UMPC or an HTC Athena if you want a brick like that. The Touch HD would be freaking HUGE with a keyboard.

The HTC M7 is your next Androphone and it will be the next flagship for HTC ?

I open this thread to know if it's for you the M7 will be the new flagship of HTC.
Everybody knows that the big date of the mobile telephony is the Motive World Congress in Barcelona on February.
But HTC announced M7 in Las Vegas ... and new Sense 5.0 also....
...the HTC M7 is currently running on Android 4.1.2 (which may be updated before launch) and a new version of HTC Sense (most likely HTC Sense 5.0) with an updated “simple and clean” UI.
... our source has debunked the recent rumor that the HTC M7 will feature on-screen buttons.
Specs on the HTC M7 are said to include a quad-core processor (rumored to be a Qualcomm APQ8064), a 4.7-inch 1080 x 1920 display (that’s 468 ppi for those keeping count), 32GB of internal storage (no expandable storage slot was visible on the phone) and is currently being tested on Sprint’s LTE network.

Give us your impressions and what do you think about this new device ?
The big question.is : will it be dev friendly? Will they ease the port of aosp roms?
If yes then yes.
I personally don't see the advantage of this over any other 1080p phone which was actually announced at CES. It has a relatively small battery, weird button placement, no SD slot, Sense and generally looks a lot uglier than an Xperia ZL (at least in my opinion). The bezel is far too large and the camera seems to be placed a bit lower down than on most phones. I liked this general design for Windows Phone but I don't think it really works properly on Android devices.

It should have the krait 600, more storage and android 4.2 out of the box, but I think that this wont be the flagship but just an high end device like the one s and the flagship will be a tegra4
Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk
The main reason I've never bought an HTC phone is that they never make it clear which product is the flagship. I thought the One X was going to be the flagship until the One X+ came out half a year later.
And now the Droid DNA comes out, only have a slight improvement only a few months later?!
And why names like DNA and M7? That just confuses customers. Something like Two X or One X2 would make much more sense as names for the next flagship. This is part of the reason why Apple and Samsung are so successful, they create a single product that goes through iterations of improvements (iPhone # and Galaxy S#). It keeps customers following the series.
when can HTC Corp learn from its past product mistakes?
They can just release a 5 inches SLCD 3 and imitate the cool design of HTC J butterfly with 13 MP camera and a SD card slot and an increase of battery power like the htc one x+
I can not understand why HTC really has poor strategy in catching the consumer's hype for a cool tech design and need for extra storage and battery life boost.
What I think is that they need to lower their sights. Samsung and Apple are getting all the glory so if they lower the amount of flagships in a year to one and lower the price to round about £300 so they undercut their rivals and get more customers. They won't do this but it nice to dream
The HTC M7 is anyway going to be an interesting device. But there are two points which are important for me (that doesn't means that they are important for everybody):
1. A huge battery capacity (3000 mAH +)
2. Dev - friendly device (unlocked bootloader, ...)
One thing I like about Android is the huge community. I like to test new stuff (ROMs, MODs etc). and it would be really annoying if you would have to stuck with the Sense UI. It's not that I don't like Sense at all (my first Android device was the T - Mobile G2 aka HTC Hero), but as I said, I like to test new stuff and Android lives by its huge community as well.
I could imagine that it comes with Tegra 4 instead of Snapdragon S4. Hopefully they already launch it with Android 4.2 and not with 4.1. If not, it would be nice if they provide 4.2 quickly after the release. But first of all I'll wait for the HTC M7 to be introduced and than I can rather say if I'm going to buy it.
And I hope that the design will be similar to the one of HTC Butterfly or HTC One X

Looks cool but the battery and memory are terrible. Most Samsung devices now have at least 2100mAh but HTC still sticks with the low specs. As for the memory, I hated this phone because I only had ~9.7 gigs usable with no expansion. Nice to hear HTC is making that bad decision again as well... Not to mention how terrible HTC is with letting you unlock the device and write to the system partition. HTC taught me a good lesson, don't buy their phones for a while.
It's my complete opinion only, but this phone is practically nothing better than the HOS with only a slightly better camera. I am definitely NOT getting this device. As for you guys, waste money how you please
Hi,
Sorry to be a person who looks for ways to say this isn't real, but imo its not
If you look at the reflection line on the screen in the OP, there are two lines. One on the display/buttons, one on the bezel. They should line up but instead they go the opposite way. Then see the 8X picture, the bezel reflection line thing is exactly the same.
So, its a photoshopped 8X
And I have no idea what I'm doing in the One S section, I am lost

you should make a poll as well it will be able to sort out the answers a whole lot easier
but im sure as you already know posting a question like this in a htc forum your going to get more HTC votes than SONY and the other way around in the sony forums
i have been following both phones very closely and i am going with the HTC now. the screen, camera, audio, and processor all look to be in the favor of htc
My main problem with the One and the one that makes me look more to the Z....the "iPhone 5 problem"
scratches happen....if you dont want a scratch get a case...i would love to see a phone thats been dropped or banged and still doesnt have a scratch on it a year later....who knows where that pic came from it could of been a demo unit which 100 people picked up
im sure the all glass body of the XZ will break far easier than the metal body of the htc one
edit: actually looking at that pic it is the demo unit that everyone tested out at today's event....im sure it saw it share of rough handling

Don't agree with you!
First you have at least 2 videos of very bad treatment to the Z and it was perfect after that!
Second this is not the event phone, so don't try to make excuses! This is a German unit and it not passed through 100 people nor is a year old!
This is simple:
HTC made a beautiful phone that has se same problems the iPhone 5 has...scratches to easy!
Personally, I don’t want a cover to make it even more thick...it already has 9.3mm!
And in the XZ you can easy use only screen protectors for scratches and in the HTC would feel odd on the aluminum and the screens cannot protect the rounded edges!
Just put my deposit on the Sony Xperia Z after the specs announcement of the HTC One (M7), no sdcard slot or low network support.
I have seen people rubishing the screen, but to be honest with my hands on, it looks just great to me, photos looked great in the real world and the movies looked stunning. I was shocked how light the phone was aswell, super snappy. If I was to complain about any feature of the phone, the headphone jack waterprrof cover doesn't look like it will last long using it every day.

IMO
HTC One advantages -
Screen
Body
Camera
Sound quality
Fastest processor
Sony Xperia Z advantages -
Waterproof
Dev friendly
MicroSd Card
I would really wish Samsung would incorporate all these advantages into the S4, but I'm sure the most obvious let down we'll see is the plastic body and being not dev friendly.

I am comparing the features too, but being Dev Friendly is not on the list for the Xperia Z.
And the HTC One supports 802.11AC.
Seems like the HTC One will be a better choice for me, the next most important factor will be the price difference.
Still waiting for the Xperia ZL as of right now. But like what I said weeks ago if I won't see any ZL like sony promised coming the first quarter of 2013 then HTC M7 would be the one I'll buy. Anyways I really love sense UI and I don't have any problems with HTC.
I was dissappointed about the unremoveable battery of HTC One since I know sense is a battery hog. But seeing a Lithium Polymer battery on board this made me reconsider this device
LiPoli and Lithium ion batteries are practically the same capacity wise but LiPoli batteries tend to have more charge discharge cycles compare to Lithium Ion.
I have here a Xperia Pro(2011) model which uses LiPoli battery and for almost 3 years now it's capacity didn't even wear for even a little bit. Still kicking a 6hour video playback on gingerbread stock Xperia ROM considering it's only a 1500mAh battery.
So here's my consideration list as of now:
1st Xperia ZL
2nd HTC M7
3rd Nokia 3310
4th Samsung Galaxy S IV

Go for Nokia 3310
The more I see of the HTC One the uglier it gets.

Thanks for the news, highly appreciated.
Quite a jump in screen size, for me it shouldn't even be called the M2 anymore as that new screen size moves it easily into Xperia C territory (C Mini? haha). I think my next phone will be the Z1 Compact with the 4.3" screen. That's about as big as I want to go

Exactly. Why can't they make phones with screens less than 4.5 inches
This message was brought to you from my Sony Xperia M C1905 using Tapatalk.
Well, it's becoming hard to find Xperia devices at the 4" screen size range
I really liked the Xperia M2, but the bigger screen is a no go for me, will stick with my Xperia M dual until I find something better... The Z1 compact would be perfect for me if it had dual SIM variant, but flagship phones never get dual SIM versions, I'm out of luck
:good: well done Sony ... what a waste of time!? and yeah I'm also getting sick of these screen sizes slowly teetering their way to the 5" mark
Would be good if they sorted out support for customisation of the current M instead of making a new one less than 9 months of the release of the original... buuut I suppose that doesn't make money does it?
As everyone else has said, looks like the z1 compact for me at the end of May although a bit disgruntled about the 4.3" screen and the reports of the music output being nothing short of rubbish when played on anything other than the Walkman app
I guess the smart money is now to do nothing and enjoy our XPERIA M as we progress through the forth coming Android upgrades distributed by Sony.
If you bought the XPERIA M for the right reasons, it's still a really good phone and from what I read above, even better than the XPERIA M2 regarding size/weight.
Weak points are 5MP camera and 2GB storage, which can be worked around with a bit of effort.
Speaking of smart money, Qualcomm is releasing a raft of 64bit chipsets such as the Snapdragon 410, Snapdragon 610 and etc..
There are RUMORS Android will become 64bit with strong indicators pointing to the end of this year and beginning 2015.
So buying a new 2014 32bit Android phone may have even less upgradablility than usual when the revolution comes and "everything" goes 64bit.
Of course the above is moot if you buy a new phone every 6 months to a year.
I'm still using a Sony XPERIA S (circa 2012), so you can see where I'm coming from.
An XPERIA Z1 Compact may only be a 6 month to 1 year stocking filler technology wise, if 64bit phones become available...
That said, the XPERIA Z1 Compact would provide good service for some years for most people even if it's support didn't go much beyond Android 4.4.2. You'd still have a very optimised Android OS, ART and all the current core deliverables.
Then with your XPERIA Z1 Compact, you can sit back and wait to see what 64bit Android provides when the technology becomes more mature and widely available.
The other thing is that the older phones at competitive prices like the XPERIA ZR, XPERIA V and XPERIA SP all become attractive if Sony is going to pander to larger screen/sized phones over the next few months.
Would have bought the XPERIA SP over the XPERIA M, however, the 115g in weight was just to attractive compared to 155g.
It is my mothers purple XPERIA M after all.
So my sony xperia M is now an M2 ??

No. Your Xperia M is still an Xperia M.
I have a question: what is the release date in Europe for this smartphone?
I have found it only on amzon[uk]
