TO many different versions... Help! - Verizon Droid Charge

There are a whole slew of different Gummy Charged threads now, all with current posts. Whats the most current version and why should people switch to it? Is it a clear and obvious choice or am i just confused

It's clear and obvious. There are 2.0 releases for both GB and Froyo.

Well don't look on XDA, Kejar posts his releases exclusively on RootzWiki now. Well, considering he doesn't have a Charge anymore we won't really have any new releases for the time being but still.

It's been going kinda, most everything is functional but the RIL so no data/calls/texts... him, aeroevan, and imnuts have been working on it on and off for a while now, but are all busy with life and other projects so it'll take some time. It'll get done and when it does it'll be awesome

I will add that it took a while for the Fascinate to get CM7 but well worth the wait. Its rough going due to not having source. We just need to be patient.

I've had the TB for about a month now, coming from an OG Droid, I feel like theres no love for this phone. Any ports or confirmations that Android 2.3.4 is coming to our lovely TB.

To explain the negative feedback you've gotten thus far, porting to the Thunderbolt is far more complicated than to the Droid 1. The part of the OS that interacts with the radio is (as of yet) unique to the Thunderbolt and essentially has to be reverse-engineered. Slayher and toastcfh are working on a port of CM7 but it is an extremely difficult project for this reason. It's a whole different ballgame on this phone. Nothing to do with the amount of love for it. If there were no love for it, Slayher would not be working so hard to develop a port of CM7.
Who are you referring to? Verizon or the modding community? Verizon continues to hype their 4G network and the Thunderbolt with it. I'm sure HTC has Android 2.3.4 so we'll see what they do with it. The modding community has been pretty good about building off the most recent AOSP builds, but with the Thunderbolt having the 4G radio it has taken a little longer. Give it time. The OG Droid has been around much longer and more people own it than the Thunderbolt. As people upgrade you'll see more and more development for this phone. Personally I'm very happy with how quickly the Thunderbolt was rooted and how quickly devs started tweaking things.

To many mad nerds on here, i was only asking if were gonna see some software upgrades, **** i was running 2.3 on my OG. But yah i can understand how its hard.
Official updates? Probably not till later this summer and who knows if it will be 2.3.3 or 2.3.4. We'll likely see if in CM 7 long before an official OTA

Considering the fact that this phone has barely been out for a month and a half i think the dev is going pretty good. I think that's why people are giving you crap for this post.
There's a few threads on getting 2.3 working on the thunderbolt so its a wip at this point. Htc is supposed to release 2.3 "soon" anyways.

Hey, don't knock the OG Droid. That was a great little phone. It was my first Android phone.
The only reason I made my comment is because all the OP needed to do was click on TB development to see all the ROMs and support for this device. For only being out a month, there's a crazy amount of support.
OG Droid still rocks, I have one in front of me.
But dude obviously doesn't remember the wait for 2.1 on the OG.
put a nice silicone cover on it (sexual references meant) then show it love!
Only then can it be shown proper love .... lol
Sorry had this coming <<<<<
Anyway The Devs Are Doing The Thunderbolt Much Justice and are working and slaving for this device so there showing the love

Awesome! I've been following all the drama about this, and am glad to see it looks like P3 and imnuts may be coming to a resolution. I'm also glad that P3 is doing the right thing and releasing what he has, relying on donations rather than forcing payment. Hope this leak will help the community move past this little hiccup, and I hope that everything works great! Look forward to getting this and seeing how it runs, even more excited about seeing how Humble, Gummy, and other versions perform once they're out! Thanks for getting this together for us danalo, and thanks to P3Droid for deciding to release this in a fair manner. And again thanks to imnuts for all his hard work, and the CWR that we will no doubt be using along with this, whether we flash it ourselves or not. Can't wait till tonight!
Nice and I cant wait till tonight.
when you say recovery...do you mean CWR and a kernel?
is a kernel going to be included in the odin package?
Thanks

Got the leak via TBH app and also donated to p3droid and imnuts. I'm very grateful to both for their efforts on behalf of the Charge community. I hope others will follow suit so that the work they do will continue.
Next on the agenda: a donation to Kejar.

I downloaded it as well, but won't be flashing until I am off work here in a few hours. I dont believe there is clockwork recovery installed on the TBH leak though which is kind of a deal breaker, probably won't flash until then.

CM7 and OMFGB for the Charge

Has anyone else noticed the twitter traffic where it looks like they have some preliminary builds of CM7 for the Charge and OMFGB running?
Well yeah, thats been the big thing for the past couple days. Not much works yet, but they've got a great start so far.
Here's the link posted by the devs on rootzwiki: http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?t=3452
According to the OP of the rootz thread, it boots but is still far from complete. Looks like he's getting help from Jt and Imnuts. With those 2 onboard, we're in for some ASOP goodness soon... Jt is THE MAN for current and former fascinate owners!
Thats exciting. I have CM7 on both my DX and BNC, and they run really well. Something to look forward to
looks like Kejar will be giving his spare Charge to jt so we'll have another incredible dev working on it

I love the Charge's dev community.... like, so much.
Ran CM7 on my Incredible and it was Incredible. I can't wait for a good build.

So, what's the news on ROM development?

Lately the Charge's ROM development seems to be slowing down. I don't mean(in any way) to disrespect the devs by saying this because you guys are incredible and have been some great work into the Charge but the development just seems to be slowing to a crawl. I know the next big update is Gummy2.0(very excited!) but there's been no news of its progress. Same with Eclipse, no news for almost a month(Honey theme hasn't been updated to fix the black on black issue and the red theme hasn't shown up at all yet) and it's been about 3 weeks since Humble has been updated(odd since Danalo used to update every week or so).
I'm assuming it's slowed down(if not stopped) since Cyanogen is having some great progress and they(the devs) are probably waiting for it to be released before continuing development.
What do you guys think is going on?
Again, no disrespect to the developers. Without you guys here I would have NEVER bought the Charge. Stock is absolute garbage, thanks for all your hard work.
Humble has not been updated because gummycharged 2.0 is not out yet. Nitro is working with the DX2 a lot more then the Charge.
News is GC FE 2.0 will probably release before the weekend is over. After that, CM7 is just starting and may be a while before anything release worthy is ready.
I doubt the developers will spend too much more time on the GB leak we have. Another leak or OTA is likely.
Life is busy this time of year for most. Get out and enjoy what is left of summer.

Ooh, 2.0 this weekend? That's some damn good news! Where did you hear that? As for GB, I personally don't care for the leaks. When GB is officially released I'll hop aboard that train(obviously) but otherwise, what's the point of flashing a buggy update? And I can't enjoy summer, already lived it up(went to the beach like 10 or so times, so much sunburn lol), now I've got to get ready for school

Considering Humble is just a kang of Gummy...its not hard to figure out why it hasn't been updated. Plus danalo kind of ate the banhammer. GummyCharged 2.0 is done.. All I am waiting on is Gunner to get the themes to me.. then I have to write the release notes...
This is more than likely getting released tomorrow afternoon at the earliest (if my real job isn't to busy).. Tomorrow night (late night) otherwise
If it is released tomorrow afternoon the initial release will only be CWM as I don't have a linux box readily available at work to create the Odin images
Yes Jt just got his charge today but its not a full time phone.. HAs a crack right down the center and a bad esn.. I jsut gave it to him to help imnuts and crew get CM7 up and going..

If you wanted AOSP so badly, you should have waited for it to be available on an LTE phone before you bought one. Buyers remorse is no reason to come onto the forums and ***** about not getting something that's unsupported and done in the developer's free time.
I needed a phone and its usually tmobile that gets the true android experience phones. Verizon always has bloatware. I didn't know the 3rd nexus was coming to verizon when I got my phone

I have used CM7 before, and I love it. I look forward to it coming just as much as a lot of people. But I'm not going to get pissed about it because development is going slower than I would like in the perfect world that exists in my brain. I don't get pissed because I know I'm unable to contribute to the process, so I have to just sit and wait patiently.
If you were contributing code daily and fixing issues, and the rest of the people working on the project weren't doing as much as you or stalling on the project, then maybe you'd have an angle for getting upset. But as it stands, you just need to STFU and wait for JT to make a breakthrough like the rest of us.

Inexperience has absolutely nothing to do with the responses that have been posted here. It is rude and in all honesty a sign of your inexperience for you to complain about the speed of development. You are neither contributing nor populating the forums with decent honest questions or any positive material!
This is the exact reason that most devs have left xda alltogether. So take your whiney ass somewhere else or better yet sell your charge and use the money to get an iphone...

I used CM7, OMFGB, and jt1134's Vanilla GB on the fascinate, but I have nothing to contribute in the way of development of a ROM except for thorough testing. So I calmly wait and accept the fact I am on the dev's timetable. I suggest you do the same. Couple of things for you to consider:
1) Read the stories about CM7 on the Bionic. Everything I read said it booted on the phone, but is nowhere near functional enough for release. From what I have read of jt's progress on CM7 for the Charge, he is ahead of the Bionic progress.
2) Have you noticed some of the most respected devs, Nitsuj17 and Adrynalyne, have started chiming in here and are telling you to stfu? Especialy Nitsuj17, he is one of the nicest guys I have seen across many forums. It's a truly rare occasion when he responds to someone the way he did here, so good job. That to me is a big clue you are talking out of your ass and are the real clueless one.
Next time you open your mouth it would be a good idea to first remove you head from your ass. It prevents you from spouting nothing but a bunch of ****.
In the immortal words of chopperthedog............good day.
