Hi all! I will appreciate if you help me with this.
I've got last OTA update with 2.3.5, but I'm really disappointed of Sense 3.0
So I've decided to install a custom ROM for the first time. I've heard of Revolutionary S-OFF but It doesn't support HBOOT 2.00.0002
I've found other way to unlock my Desire S. I did this with htcdev site. Then I've installed 4EXPRecovery and turn on root on my phone. All was successful until I reached to installing custom ROM. I've put Cyanogen nightly ROM to SD card, then entered recovery and wiped system. Then installed ROM from zip. This was successful but I stucked in white screen with HTC logo when trying to boot the device.
I've tried many ROMs like Cyanogen, MIUI, Virtue etc. Each time attempts resulting into white HTC screen.
Now I have

What can I do to revive my device?

Before installing new Rom is it necessary to perform a full wipe (data, system and cache). Make a full wipe and try again. Make also a Goldcard - this will erase all the data on your SDcard, so make a backup first (check the tool here) an try to flash the ROM with it.

My story:
Since i never liked HTC Sense i tried to migrate to Cyanogen.
I performed the following steps:
1. Bootloader was unlocked with HTC site.
2. 4ExtRecovery installed.
3. Cyanogen "update-cm-7.1.0-DesireS-signed" was installed via 4Ext from sd card.
Now phone stucks at HTC logo. Access to bootmenu, recovery is available.

Have you made a backup of your previous ROM? If not try one of the custom sense roms or run the ruu without attached device, don't close the first window and search for the rom.zip, copy it to another folder and delete everything in the zip file except the system.img, rename it to pg88img.zip and flash it in bootloader or flash the image itself with fastboot.
As much as I know is your problem that with htcdev the kernel isn't unlocked and cause cyanogen needs another then sense, it doesn't work.

He's unlocked by htc dev
You can also try flashing the full package with all content from the rom.zip, but this sets also your unlocked state of the bootloader back and be sure that you use the latest version of the ruu.

You need to manually flash the boot.img from CM 7.1 when you have the unlocked bootloader.

Hi All.
I'm having a problem with what appears to be Recovery mode in Revolutionary.
The Desire S has been rooted and S-Off. I then flashed Android Revolution 7(Mike1986).
As I'm about to sell the phone, wanted to do a factory reset, but this restarts the phone and gets stuck on the HTC logo. So I figured I'd manually flash a new ROM instead. So I go into bootloader, but when I get to the menu and select Recovery, again, it gets stuck at an HTC logo.

You need to flash an eng-hboot first before you can flash an RUU to go back to stock.
All details in my signature and the index thread.
Read the forum and index thread before doing anything
Oh, OK - I'm not that bothered about putting it back to stock firmware. I just wondered why Revolutionary doesn't seem to be working.
Presumably I just need to put PG88IMG.zip into the root of the SD card?

By the way did you install any recovery like cwm or 4ext?
Sent by my fingers to your head.
Um.....I'm fairly sure it was CWM, but don't hold me to that. Whatever it was, it allowed me to install Android Revolution 7.
I can't update HBOOT - Revolutionary keeps bypassing it?????

Android Revolution 7??? On the Desire S...? Where'd you get that from? It's not officially supported by the ARHD team!!
Now I'm absolutely confused where the hell I got that from!!!
I think the best course of action is to get the phone back into shape - so I need to flash the HBOOT back and presumably the recovery back if possible. Revolutionary is preventing me from flashing a new Hboot. Any ideas?
EDIT : Right. Using ADB, I've managed to re-flash CWM and now it works. But can someone advise on getting HBoot to flash?
Loll fire the dd command to flash hboot.
It is fine from adb.
See in the thread of my signature for the dd commands

Just wanted to thanks everyone for their replies. At the moment I'm using a custom rom, with CWM still installed. I haven't sold it on yet, as the Sensation XE I bought to replace it, died within 24 hours! D'oh!!!

Swyped from my Desire S waiting for Kernel 3, WAKE UP HTC
Hello everyone- long time reader, first time poster. I have an HTC Sensation. I know this question has been asked thousands of times, and I have read through lots of posts, and tried everything I can find, but still have an issue.
My Sensation boots to the white HTC screen, and then to the "HTC - Quietly Brilliant" screen, then keeps boot-looping. Here is what I tried:
- Unlocked bootloader @ HTCDev
- Installed CWM Recovery
- Tried and failed to do a JuopunutBear S-Off
*** (After reboot, the phone was stuck @ HTC screen) ***
- Booted into CWM recovery
- Performed Superwipe
- Installed "Stock_Rooted_TMOUS_1.29.531.2" ROM
- Rebooted into fastboot, flashed boot.img (from above mentioned ROM)
- Rebooted
Now it's stuck at the "HTC - Quietly Brilliant" screen, then keeps boot-looping.
I also:
- tried to run the HTC RUU from windows, but it failed (wrong version)
- tried to run the HTC RUU from recovery (renamed ROM.zip to PG58IMG, but it failed
- tried installing various ROM's & kernels

My goal was to S-Off, Root, Unlock, and install a custom ROM. I had it rooted, but couldn't get S-Off, or use SuperCID. All I want to accomplish now is to get back to a functioning ROM. Any help would be appreciated! If someone has a different procedure, a link to a working RUU of ANY firmware that will work, or if there is something I am missing, please let me know.
Thanks!
I think your problem is the ROM you flashed is not compatible with the firmware version you have. You are only HTC Dev unlocked so you can not change your firmware version. You have Hboot 1.27.0000 so you need a ICS ROM (Android 4.0.?). Also you have to flash PG58IMG.zip files via bootloader not recovery. Last you can not Super CID because you are only HTC Dev unlocked.
Thanks for the reply! I am happy, actually ecstatic! to report I am booting again! I downloaded the firmware / ROM from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614617
I superwiped, flashed ROM, flashed boot.img from ADB, and it rebooted!
Thanks for the help!
I recently bought a HTC Desire S secondhand, however when it arrived I turned it on to find that it just displays the HTC logo then a black screen. It has 4ext installed - which is what loads when try to do a factory reset.
I have no experience with installing custom ROMs but I'm pretty good at following instructions. I'm hoping that someone here will be able to tell me how to fix this!
Some more information, the boot loader menu says:

Not sure what version of 4EXT you have on your phone. Recommend you update it to a newer, if not the latest, version before you start flashing. Download recovery image file and flash via fastboot. Before installing a new ROM, choose "format all partitions except SD card' for a complete wipe.

Your phone is S-on so remember to flash boot.img whenever you flash a new ROM, otherwise it would mostly fail to boot.
Try Cyanogenmod first, It's not the latest and greatest, but a good and safe ROM to get you started

Hi All,
I've tried rooting my htc one s for the first time.
but unfortunately, i haven't followed some steps and it ran into trouble.

My phone was in S-off from 11/22. I've tried many options but none of them worked out.
I can't boot into my phone directly. I can only boot to recovery.
Currently there is no super user found.
Current CID of my phone is HTC__038
I've tried to S off my phone but it resulted in some error.
I have loaded a custom rom into my sd card but while installing the rom, i'm getting an error of "unable to set_perm".
Kindly Help me.
Thanks in advance.

Use adb and relock your device after install the factory RUU(now your phone should light with the stock rom), after that follow a guide to unlock your device install recovery, rom ecc ecc if you want a custom rom, if you have any problems ask.
