Hey there,
I been reading other sites and have read that it is not possible to use a droid global on tmobile, but I been seeing a lot of posts here with people who have done it, for me it would be a whole lot cheaper to be able to use my droid 2global on tmobile, so if anuyone would be so kind as to let me know where I could find steps on how to do it, or any form of directions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you
Look for the d2g on at&t the use the same radio type (gsm) you just won't get 3G from my understanding.

I've been wondering this too. I kinda like the D2G and they're getting really cheap on Craiglist, so I thought about getting one to use on Simple Mobile, but I don't want to get one if I cant use it at all. 2G speeds are fine with me, I just want service!
Tmobile is good on D2G. I'm using it now, with CM7 and the new band hack.

Here it is. Get a unlock code and it works on Rogers network, with 3G.
Just remember to set APN first.
So it is confirmed that Verizon is not messing up the 850/1900 bands outside US.
Canadian Droid lovers, you are safe.
Btw, this phone seems to have some serious reception issues. It only shows one signal bar in my house, while other phones would get full. Hope moto could fix this via a software update.

Thanks for confirming this for us. We hear in the US are still having those problems with AT&T and T-Mobile. Hopefully we will find a workaround soon.
Thanks so much. Thats what I've been searching for. BTW, where did you get the phone? Can you just go to Verizon store and buy it outright without signing any contract, not even the month by month plan?
Got the phone from a friend in the US. What he did was activate a month to month plan, and cancel it right away.
where did you get your unlock code? can you recommend a site?

Got it on ebay. Just search for "Dorid 2 Global Unlock" and there you go.
I am following yous steps! I already asked a friend of mine to get me one. Thanks for confirming it is good on Rogers. Ebay seller is a bit greedy though - 50 bucks - ouch!

Byebyebryan, how is the battery life on Rogers (I assume you switched it to GSM/WCDMA only)? People report some horrible results like 7 hours with no use.. can't be that bad...

I'm gonna say, 1 day with some use(calls, msgs, emails, and minutes on google map). So not great, but not that bad.

Why would you have to pay for an Unlock Code? Can't you just "ROOT" the phone free?

The unlock code is so you can use non-Verizon (Vodafone) SIMs. Rooting is being able to have full read / write access to the entire phone. Rooting alone will not unlock the radio to use 3rd party SIMs.

Has anyone else noticed reception issues with this phone? I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the Milestone 2 originally and then this one came out and I want it sooooo bad. I need to upgrade from this HTC Magic but I don't want to buy a phone with hardware flaws.
I tried Googling it but all I'm finding is reception problems on the Droid 2 and the Droid X. Not a lot on the D2G but it seems like the entire Droid line has people reporting reception problems.
Is it just the number of bars showing thats a problem or do you also get frequent dropped calls?
I heard from a friend that Android 2.2 includes a new Battery Manager that reduces power to the radio when you're not making or receiving a call and that's probably why the number of bars showing is low when the phone is idle and there probably isn't really a reception problem unless calls are being dropped. Can anyone confirm this?
It's a long drive from where I am in Canada to the nearest Verizon store so I was going to make purchasing it part of a road trip to visit friends in Seattle in a couple weeks if I can get confirmation that the reception problem is not hardware related.
Any confirmations or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Reception hasn't really been an issue for me. Seems acceptable. Battery life marginal though but I had the same issue with an HTC Desire

The funny thing is, even though the phone is showing only one signal bar, I still have great call quality and 3g speed. Wired.

Thanks guys. That was the news I was hoping to hear.
I was having problems with the 3G in France. I never got more than one bar and that was in middle of Paris
Buy it on prepaid. Its $394 plus $104 of other stuff, total 537.

I just got the Droid 2 Global and have it unlocked on the Rogers network. I can't get the 3g to work. What APN settings are you using or how did you get it to work? I have input the apn settings that are being posted around the web but can't get 3g to work. Edge works however. Thanks for your help.

APN settings are same for 3G and EDGE. Are you sure you are not forcing EDGE somewhere in settings? Or maybe battery manager?
I figured out the problem. I had the phone in "gsm only" mode. When I switched back to"Global" mode in network settings I instantly got 3g and even "H". Thanks for the help anyway
Sorry if this is redundant folks, but a friend of my stepfather has been having some issues. He recently purchased a G2X, used it for a month or 2 on T-Mobile, but now wants to switch to AT&T with his girlfriend. He's gotten pretty far, getting the IMEI from T-Mo and getting it actually unlocked. He's now got Calls and Texts up and running on AT&T's network, but he can't get any data to work. We know that 3G won't work on it, but we assumed EDGE would.
Any help here? I'm sure it something reasonably simple.
Please and thanks, XDA!
There's a thread in the SGS2 dev section with AT&T's APN settings. They probably need to be changed in the phone.
Mine is unlocked and I tried my wife's at&t sim and had no issues connecting to internet. Not that that helps you, just wanted to throw in my experience. I wonder if it makes a difference which type of rate/data plan the at&t sim is on.
G2X CM7
Thanks Barry, I found that thread and sent him the APN settings. I'll post back tomorrow with results.
And thanks for your input phburks. The reason why yours worked may be that you're running CM. Our g2x is running stock Android.

I just bought from Verizon the Nexus Prime and truthfully I hate paying out my arshe for nothing. So can someone explain how I can get and use another provider like Boost. I know the with Metro Pcs I can "Flash" my Nexus but then I loose the web and many other features which I don't want to loose. Truthfully I don't want to sacrifice anything I just want to use my Nexus through Boost. The question is, "Can I and if so should I r00t my phone?" Thank you for helps.
I don't know about the boost thing but some people know how flash to metro and have the web and messaging.

almost all verizon phones are GSM network phones, Boost Mobile runs on a CDMA network so I have never heard of flashing between networks (I could be wrong).
I have an EVO 4g from spint which is CDMA, I found it fairly easy to flash over once I got SDK setup but its different for everyone. You need to root to do this and I recommend doing it even if ya dont flash it. Please don't try to hold me responsible for what happens to your phone I just wanted to give you some info. seriously you need to google it alot before your sure you can flash between networks. here is a link to flash to boost mobile
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353411
this is a evo 4g method so you will need to research if your phone isn't the same which I assume it isnt but this will give you an idea whats involved and the steps. As far as rooting you can find that anywhere on xda for model specifics. Hope this helps

I have "rooted" the Nexus and relax it was so or to easy to do, I would never hold anyone at fault because a hacker is suppose to be able to accept defeat but I rooted it in 45 seconds. Thank you for all your help, now I need to find if I can flash it to Boos. Last question, "If I flash my Nexus to Metropcs does it have ALL the funcionality as it does with Verizon?
if you flash it correctly or someone does it for you, most of your features will be there...I know a lot of people complained they didnt have data or MMS after but thats because the flashing wasn't done properly. You cannot "flash" to t-mobile, you can "sim unlock" a GSM phone to work on t-mobile but it would have to be an AT&T phone, not verizon or sprint since they will only pick up their respective frequencies within the states.

Did you ever end up flashing you phone to another network

I've never heard of flashing between networks such as GSM and CDMA. I may be mistaken, but im pretty sure you can't.
I'm currently on the Samsung Galaxy Indulge and want to upgrade my phone soon. I was looking at the Connect at Metro, but heard about flashing the Nexus S to MetroPCS. I'm really interested in doing this and just have some questions:
1. I'm having some difficulty understanding if 3g will work or not. I know 4G won't, but does 3g or is it just 1x?
2. I'm not dumb with phones and computers and likely could flash it myself with the instructions, but how difficult has it been for everyone?
3. What OS is it on?
4. So if flashed I'll get the whole shabang - talk, text, web (I believe the answers yes, just making sure )
Thanks!
maybe try looking in the ns4g dev section...i'll even make it a lil easier for you, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636058

Friend gave me a Verizon Galaxy SIII to play with, I have T-Mobile. Has anyone played with this yet? I know it was possible with the Droid Bionic and my old standby Droid 2 Global, so I'm wondering if it's a similar deal here, where every source in the world says it doesn't work and then someone gets it to work. I'm kinda wondering why no one seems to have tried yet...

Did you ever get this to work? I have a bionic also and would like to put that on straight talk or go network as art has much better coverage here.
