So sprint got too expensive and I switched to cricket, but I can't get YouMail or Google voice to work for my voice mail. I'm assuming this has something to do with being on MIUI and not having the dialer codes, I had to flash back to stock at the cricket store so they could flash the phone to cricket, because they needed the dialer codes to be in the phone. What I'm wondering is if I flash back to stock, then try setting up YouMail or Google voice, if that will enable the call forwarding to either YouMail or Google voice. I hope this question makes sense.

are you talking about youmail, or visual voicemail plus?
arent those kind of the same thing as google voice?
I like google voice, you can check you voicemail online, it transcribes(usually poorly, but but better than spring vvm, when i had my epic.)
Google Voice.

yep google voice. sux that any visual voice mail on att not on the iphone is considered a forwarded call and thus uses your minutes but atleast it's not a surcharge like on sprint to use call forward or use sprints transcription service. i used youmail a while back because for some reason on a stock captivate rom that phone wouldn't set call forwarding up to the google voice number for the life of me. if would just fail for no reason. yet it worked for the youmail number. on an i9000 rom my captivate set up google voice just fine. go figure. what i will say is that toe youmail transcription service works better but it is not free, they may still have a free trial for it though.

there is no other platform that has the 3rd party app support and dev comunity. the iphone ui sux. they are constantly doing hacks to get andriod features but they are never as good. meego looks good but few phones have compatable bootloaders.
I can't forward my voicemail at&t number to GV voicemail. On GV app setup when I click configure voicemail and choose GV, it just bring me back to configure voicemail,
I remember when I had my iPhone 4 and some called be on my att number and was sent to the voice mail, the voicemail was forward to GV voicemail.

I had trouble too. Just came from iphone also. You need to log in on your PC not the Google voice app and set it up there Google.com/voice . You should be able to find where it says activate voicemail. Click it and it will give you a long number to call mine started with a *. Enter that # as if you where making a call and press send it will activate your account. I tried and tried to get it working from my phone but ended up going it this way. Good luck

I thought the voice mail limit was set by verizon, not the software on your phone. Hence, why you can get it without directly using your phone if you want.
Voicemail limit is set by verizon, not the phone itself. If you want to have ALL THE VOICEMAILS and never have to delete them, go with google voice - far superior to vzw visual voicemail. (and you don't have to worry about that pesky no-voicemail-icon with gb roms )
How do I get Google voicemail to work?

Why not just dial your cell phone number, enter voicemail passcode and listen to your VM's?
Or, have them forwarded to Google Voice?

1) Do what I do... uninstall an reinstall google voice.
2) SKIP the sprint integration
3) Follow the normal google voice setup
It now acts like VVM and doesn't display texts

I love my Inspire 4G and I run the RCMix3D Runny 4.0 ROM. It is fast, I like the fonts and the icons and love Sense 3.5. I also ran a UV script and another script I am forgetting. I have a few issues and the ones I have found are minor, however, just recently though I discovered I can not make outgoing calls with Google Voice. I am in the US on AT&T and its not even an option in the Voice setup to make all calls with Voice. I flashed another ROM to see if this was a ROM issue or some other phone setting issue. The other ROM I flashed (Android Revolution) I had the same issue. No option to make calls (other than international) via Google Voice. Short of flashing back to stock any one have an idea? I was thinking maybe there is a setting to do with location or carrier that is not right. I am using the RCMix kernel. It reports in the 'About Phone' to be a 'HTC Inspire 4G.' I have uninstalled Voice several times and reinstalled without any luck. A previous ROM flash showed the phone as Desire HD so I wonder if I am stuck with a phone that is reporting to be a non-US phone and no-us market Apps?
Use groovy IP if you are trying to make data calls. If you just want people to see your GV number and use your plan minutes in settings you should see

That is what I am getting at. If I posted a screen shot I only have three choices and the first one is not make all calls with Google voice. I have a sip account where I can dial out with my home VoIP but I want voice to work so I can port my number.

There should be no reason why you have only 3 of the 4 choices. Make sure you update google voice to the latest version. But your posts are confusing. In first post you say you can't make any voice calls. Your last post says you can at least set it on "ask". So which is it?

You could be more clear on how you have this sip account setup. If it is set to make all calls, that could be the reason you are missing that option with Voice. If your intent is to port your cell number to Voice for use with the sip account, that won't work. Voice requires you to have a cell plan.

I thought I said it only gives a choice toake international calls. I have three options, Use for international, do not use and ask me everytime I make INTERNATIONAL call. I have the newest version . Like I said its like I am getting a non-US apk from the market since free voice calling is US ONLY. I am in Kentucky. I think a version of ClearDroid reported my phone as a Desire HD. Maybe my market account is hosed.

Does not matter because before I setup the sip Voice would not work. I have VoIP at home and they provide sip settings for softphone use.

Does not make a difference on my phone but on your phone it might since you have a sip account set up. Homescreen > menu button > settings > call > Use internet calling and try changing your setting to something else.
If you think it might help here is the google voice from my phone.
Thanks. I think it is something deeper because I flashed a different Rom yesterday and same issue. Flashed Rom, booted, download voice run setup and same issue. Nothing else was configured. Tring yours!

No luck. I removed the sip account too. Uninstalled voice and rebooted then tried yours. Was hoping there was a system file I could dig into to check device type and or location. Maybe I am off base thinking its something like that. I could flash back stock I guess.

In your settings for google voice, do you have the area code listed in "This phone's number"? Try "add this phone" again and see if that helps. On the same note I have heard that google voice cannot send voip calls from certain area codes. Have you been able in the past to use google voice with the area code on the phone?
Yes the area code comes up. I believe at one point when I first got the phone the missing option to make calls was there. I've done all sorts of setting changes on the phone and via a browser on the voice side and nothing works.

I'm doubtful that it is rom related. Cleardroid is and has always been based off of the stock Inspire roms. Also, I am using a non US based rom that has been modded for the Inspire and Voice has all the options and works as it should for me.

I agree as changing ROM had no effect. I am on RcMix3D Runny. I think I will flash stock and see what happens from there.

I'm on tmobiles prepayed plan and I always get issues with not being notified of new voicemails.. so I want to download a visual voicemail app but so far I haven't found ones that work with T-Mobile prepayed plans.. Did T-Mobile restrict all visual voicemail apps from working on prepaid?
Thanks

i dont think they are able to that, go to the market and try a few apps out and see what one you like best. you can use apps to freeze other voice mail apps so you can try them out.

I use G-Voice + T-Mo prepaid with my Nexus. It's very finicky, most voicemails still go to T-Mobile's old school voicemail, and some to Google Voice. I've read that you can call and have T-Mo eliminate Voicemail from your prepaid number, then all calls to the GV number will go to GV voicemail. Unfortunately I've given just a few people (can't remember who) my actual T-Mo #, and they would get no voicemail if I cancel the T-Mo vm.
Nvm i see you tried it.
