Calling devs. Annoying OTA glitch - T-Mobile LG G2x

I know you may not want to help because I know not many people use the OTA, and I'm not sure if this occurs on other 2.3.3 roms but when you turn on the screen there is a short fade in animation BEFORE the lockscreen comes up. This is most likely a screw up on LG's part. Any devs/file intellects know where this animation is and how it can be removed? Thanks in advance, I'll thanks after too

Are you referring to when you unlock your device and you can see your desktop for a split second before your lockscreen enables...
They announced a fix a few weeks after the phone was released:

You posted me a link to a cm7 RC?

Eclair Lock Screen

Hey guys, I search but came up empty. Is there a way to flash an Eclair or Flan lockscreen on damageless' 2.1 rom? If so can someone provide a link where to get it.
Thanks in advance

The Flan has already been addressed. But the Eclair... I would love to have an Eclair lockscreen...
So would I, but my biggest thing besides looks is the quick silent mode. I didn't pull anything up on Flan either though.... Do you have a link?

Thanks... Hopefully Eclair will be ported over soon
I don't know why people are still using the term "Flan", as both lockscreens are Eclair, but just two different versions of Eclair. Anyways, the lockscreens are built into the actual android framework, so the only way to get the 2.0 lockscreen is to use a 2.0 rom. If you use the new 2.1 roms you will only be able to use the new Eclair lockscreen ( the fix that was posted up in the thread will fix it in the new HTC roms). There was no porting involved, it was only fixing the layout because HTC broke it. I'm not flaming, just getting the information out there
No, I know, just didn't know how to differentiate the two.
Sorry for the silly question but what do the options on these other lockscreens actually do? I've only used the default sprint sliding lock screen. I'm guessing you press the padlock to unlock. Does sliding the bar still work? The emergency call button makes sense. What does the speaker button do? And the battery button, isn't there a battery level already on the lock screen? My searches just result in talking about how to get various screens. I couldn't find out how they function.

you slide the pad lock right to unlock, slide the speaker left to mute the sounds. The only thing the htc screen i know of has over this one is that the htc you have the options for music(change song etc.)

T-Mobile OTA Update Bug (Android 2.3.4, Software 1.45.531.1) Affects Lockscreen

Just discovered a very annoying bug with this new OTA update. I've had it for about an hour, and everything else has been good except for this.
With the lockscreen, my first shortcut icon (Phone Dialer) suddenly disappeared. I have no clue how to get it back.
When I try to re-assign it as a shortcut, it doesn't appear on the shortcuts menu.
I'm 1,000% positive that I did not erase the dialer icon in the lockscreen edit menu.
Anyways, this is just a heads up for some of you TmoUSA people who just got the OTA update.
And if anybody has any suggestions on how to prevent/fix this, or get back my phone dialer shortcut, I'd really appreciate it.
I got the phone dialer and it did not disappear from lock screen after the update.
I think this may be an isolated incident. But wow none the less. I would suggest a wipe brother.
Wow, that sucks to know that it's just me
Not that I would wish this problem on any of you, just kinda bothers me because I factory-resetted just yesterday
It's not just you. I still have the phone on my first button of the lock screen, but if I go to edit the lockscreen buttons, the first one is now blank, and Phone is not an option in the list of available apps to assign.
As long as I don't change it, it's good...
The EVO 3D had this problem with 2.3.3 at launch. HTC sent out a minor update to fix. Expect a minor update in the near future.
I wonder if I should just install a phone dialer app from the market and see if that can be a workaround.
What do you guys think?

I had this issue, and I made a workaround, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205384
I have phone as my 2nd shortcut and its still there, and it works.
But the 2nd shortcut is blank in the shortcut assign menu.
*my phone is totally out of box stock

If you save any changes from that screen you'll lose the icon.
Really, yikes. I think I like the 4 I have there now so I'll leave it alone for the time being.
1st - Web
2nd - Phone
3rd - Gmail
4th - Messages
With all these issues I'm seeing I think ima just stick to leedroid or stock rooted. I'm playing around on my myTouch before I sale it.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA Premium App
I just got the update and yes, while I still have the Phone icon on my lockscreen, if I go to the Settings page for the screen the position is blank and "Phone" isn't an option in the list of programs to launch.
It looks like birgertime's work-around may be what you need, until HTC (hopefully) releases a fix for this.
In the mean time, I'm not going to change my lockscreen icons (not that I frequently do anyway).
Not just you. Same thing happened to me. Just got the update today.

i had the same issue, the phone (dialer) missing from menu and lock screen. I downloaded the shortcut from the link above and it worked. Thanx for the shortcut.
I just got the update and I don't have any issues with my lock screen. maybe try to change in your lock screen htc gives us like 6 to choose from 'm using the 1 that shows status updates from facebook and such.
also my wifi is working a lot better I still lose signal when I grip it in landscape mode but it doesn't lose signal completely and I can still use wi-fi even in landscape mode holding it with both hands
The workaround works great! Thanks for the help, everybody.
I was just reading this thread when I noticed that I had the same bug after changing the lockscreen icons. Will flashing a ROM over the update help?

Better Lockscreen

Hello,
today i tried the face unlock feature and i think its a funny thing! Dont discuss about the security, i know the situation!
But my thought was, cause i was looking today about how to show missed calles/sms on the lockscreen tried different things but nothing what satisfied me, I want to change the stock lockscreen a little bit.
First i want to show missed Calls/SMS/ maybee notifications, kind of iOS5.
And know actual thing!
For this example you choose in your settings face unlock and a pattern.
First you press your unlock key, the screen will shown up with notifications if you have one, if not, the screen will be clear as is also now.
Immediately after the screen is shown, the face unlock will search for you face if it found you face it will nothing happens at the moment, if not also nothing happens. The important thing is here is no preview like it is now, cause you want to see the notifications!! So the whole thing is in background!
At the bottom is also the circle thing what you know of the stock thing without a security check. Drag it to the right to unlock, if face unlock is successful you come to your homescreen if not you need to enter you pattern, with a fancy animation, again like on the iphone.
This would be my first android project, so where can i get the jelly bean 4.1.1. source?
And my question to you android genies, do you think it can work without a custom rom?
For sure i will publish my work if i get it to work!
Please tell me what you think about my idea! If someone would also try his luck with my idea, go on it would be nice if you dont tell everyone its your idea! If someone wants to know who had this idea before they can google and find this thread!
I'm kind of excited!!!

[Q] Nexus 5 incoming call screen gets me stuck

earched Google all over and couldn't find a solution for this. When I get an incoming call on my nexus 5, half of the screen goes black, and the main buttons disappear, and I can't do anything with the status bar. Basically, I can't do anything besides answer, hang up or text. Only after I answer the functionality returns. It's really annoying when I'm in the middle of something and than someone calls and I can't just ignore it, I have to wait until the caller hangs up (and then usually he will call again). The half black screen also bothers me but it's not the real problem, I just guess it's part of the bug. I tried using 3rd party apps for incoming calls but they don't solve this problem. This is how it looks like (I can't post a picture so copy the link):

I'm surprised I didn't find a solution because it's a very annoying problem and I don't think it only happens to me. I'll be glad if you know how to fix this. Thanks

That's exactly how its meant to be. If you flash a ROM like omni you can get a less intrusive dialer that looks something like this:
http://omnirom.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/UnobtrusiveCallNotify.png
If you've never installed a ROM before there are loads of tutorials to get you started, just don't take any shortcuts (like toolkits!)

But wouldn't flashing the device prevent me from upgrading my android version? I mean, one of the advantages in nexus is that it gets more upgrades and sooner than everybody else, isn't it?

most custom roms get updated even before an ota is out. once google drops source into aosp, that day or next, most custom roms update. sometimes this happens a week before otas go out, sometimes its about the same time.

have u tried one of the full screen caller id apps ?
I tried this one on my Moto G with Android 4.3.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.nicky.HDCallerID
see if it works for your phone.
same problem here, thanks god i'm not alone! I simply don't get why on incoming calls i cant hit the home button and go back on my stuff!!! annoying. hope in a solution, had tried many apps but didn't find the right one
I have the same problem in the last month I had this issue 5 or 6 times until now...any idea besides installing a custom ROM?
Similar problem here.
I have a similar problem. No black screen but I can't do anything and the nav bar disappears. N5 with 4.4.4 stock, Franco Kernel, root, xposed Framework. I found out that other phones have the same problem and in a moto x thread I found a thread that perfectly matches my problem.
I think it's an android bug.. like a file system or something.. not related to any customization.

Looking for rom, app or other solution to remove notification screen during unlock.

A while back when i updated my device (nexus 5) it added a notification screen prior to the unlock pattern. It has been really getting on my nerves and I can't seem to find anything online that will allow me to remove or disable it. My device has been rooted and hasn't been updated for a long time since I didn't want to bother sideloading an update since rooted phones can no longer get OTA updates. If anyone knows of a rom that has this feature or an app that may bypass the screen or anything of the sort, please leave a comment below. If my phone needs to be updated first, if you could let me know in your comments, that would be great.
