Hey guys, I search but came up empty. Is there a way to flash an Eclair or Flan lockscreen on damageless' 2.1 rom? If so can someone provide a link where to get it.
Thanks in advance

The Flan has already been addressed. But the Eclair... I would love to have an Eclair lockscreen...
So would I, but my biggest thing besides looks is the quick silent mode. I didn't pull anything up on Flan either though.... Do you have a link?

Thanks... Hopefully Eclair will be ported over soon
I don't know why people are still using the term "Flan", as both lockscreens are Eclair, but just two different versions of Eclair. Anyways, the lockscreens are built into the actual android framework, so the only way to get the 2.0 lockscreen is to use a 2.0 rom. If you use the new 2.1 roms you will only be able to use the new Eclair lockscreen ( the fix that was posted up in the thread will fix it in the new HTC roms). There was no porting involved, it was only fixing the layout because HTC broke it. I'm not flaming, just getting the information out there
No, I know, just didn't know how to differentiate the two.
Sorry for the silly question but what do the options on these other lockscreens actually do? I've only used the default sprint sliding lock screen. I'm guessing you press the padlock to unlock. Does sliding the bar still work? The emergency call button makes sense. What does the speaker button do? And the battery button, isn't there a battery level already on the lock screen? My searches just result in talking about how to get various screens. I couldn't find out how they function.

you slide the pad lock right to unlock, slide the speaker left to mute the sounds. The only thing the htc screen i know of has over this one is that the htc you have the options for music(change song etc.)

I'd really like to see a couple of what I would consider to be enhancements to the standard 2.1 lockscreen.
I'm wondering if it's possible to make the unlock slider REQUIRED to unlock the phone because, at this point, you can still unlock the phone by pressing the Menu key again. This would prevent the phone from being accidentally unlocked if the Menu key gets double-pressed while in your pocket, without the need to set up a full unlock pattern. It would also make the "slide to unlock" bar functional, instead of just being nice to look at but pointless to use.
Additionally, I'm wondering if it would be possible to change the Mute/Unmute slider to mute ALL SOUNDS, including the media volume. The reason I ask is because those of us using the Touchdown Exchange application have the option to have the app read our notifications, incoming email, calendar appointments, etc., out loud to us using TTS, which is "played back" as media, not as a notification. Yesterday, while I was in a meeting, I THOUGHT I had the phone on silent. Then an email came in. Made me look like the idiot that I probably am anyway.
I'm now using a single-click app from the market that mutes EVERYTHING, but it would be very nice to have this feature built directly into the lockscreen.
Any chance this can be done? Anyone interested in doing it? Thanks in advance.

This isn't a complaint, it's a request. The slider is there, so why not make it functional instead of just pretty?

Ya I feel the same way sometimes hehe
It would be nice as I like the pattern lock mainly because it forces you to enter it to EVER unlock the phone.
But I don't really care about having a complex pattern to keep my phone "secure". I always just have the pattern be a simple swipe right then up. The lock on the 2.1 default lockscreen is just as simple and I love it actually but I just wish it would always require the unlock action to unlock. Customizing it in other ways would be an added bonus.
I also agree about muting ALL sounds, that is what that slider should be doing in my opinion as well. Seems like it should I mean "Sounds off" to me means "mute everything".

Yeah. I believe all of this is possible. Perhaps put a setting in Spare Parts to turn these functions on and off? I don't know. I wish a developer would share some thoughts.
It can be very usefull, the double sliding on no audio produce the effect to activate the vibration mode
buy or download the free version of LockBot
u get the option to use Iphone/Hero/Eclair/Flan lockscreens with many choices of backgrounds ect..
and it allows u to NEED to slide to unlock has alot of options.
i use LockBot Pro very useful app
How exactly do you "accidentally" press menu?
I keep my phone in my pocket separate of any objects that could possibly press and buttons. But the amount of force and accuracy would be needed just to hit the button. Just press power, home, call and then swipe its pretty simple.

With lockbot all you have to do is hold down the home button and switch to a different app and then boom..lockbot has now become usless
@ OP It is possible to do. I had a BB 9530 and they had the pattern lock ust like the g1. what they dide was disable the buttons except for end key. Im not a dev but I dont think it would be that hard to implement this ina rom

Moreover, both Magic and Dream have a chin lol; it's really unlikely that menu button would be spontaneously pressed; pressed twice is just nonsense!

Listen guys, I appreciate the feedback, but this thread isn't about alternative solutions. And talking about how YOU don't unlock the phone with accidental double-presses of the Menu key doesn't help here either. Some of us do. Keep in mind that some people carry their phones differently than others. All of us have different lives, and our days might present situations and conditions under which our pockets/phones can get bumped or pressed against. It can happen. But, even if you don't have an issue with double-pressing the Menu key, wouldn't it just be nice to have a BUILT-IN lockscreen that is more functional than it is pretty to look at?
Also, suggesting Market apps, paid or not, does NOT help. I'd really like the EXISTING 2.1 lockscreen to be more functional. If someone is willing to try implementing this, it would be nice to be able to turn these settings on/off using Spare Parts or adding additional menu options under the phone's Settings --> Location & security.
i would have to say i agree with the OP, although i do love the 2.x unlock pattern page now because it has the time and charging status, before i would have to hit menu to get the screen to come on, then back (if i dont need to unlock) to get the time...this way is so much better!!!
+1 for the OP
I also often unlock my phone when it's in my pocket -- I guess I'm just an active dude.
Helloooooooo developers! Chime in please.
catch me if u can!
Doesnt look like any devs are interested in this...mainly because there will be a new lockscreen probably when gingerbread drops
Your best bet would be to pm somebody you know has done work on lockscreens (i.e. Stericson) but like i said there will probably be a whole new lockscreen anytime now
This ROM says that the menu button doesn't work when the screen is unlocked. i personally haven't tried it out, but this might be what you're looking for.
i dont understand the "accident" part. lol i love how i can unlock by pressing menu and by sliding. i live in chicago. when its cold as hell outside and im walking down the street wearing gloves. i can still unlock my phone and make a call.
hope it never goes away.

Like I said, I don't want the "double menu press to unlock" function to be removed, I just want a feature to be ABLE to disable it if the end user wishes to do so.
I realize that trackball wake is a system level change but I would like to have an app that still uses the original lockscreen but simply allows the nexus one to be woken with the trackball. Nothing fancy. This would be something that I would think would be popular with alot of phones if done simple and doesn't become a battery hog. All lockscreen replacement apps utilize this feature so it should be usable on froyo. Hopefully someone can whip up something for us missing trackball wake. Thanks.
well, cyanogen has this built in. though if you want froyo, your not going to be using cyanogen yet.

Yeah I know but im thinking its possible to use the stock lockscreen still. It may run smoother that way. And @neok, yes it would be for froyo or ANY phone and/or rom. And truthfully, I may not use it once the real trackball wake gets updated but I would know where to go once the next update breaks trackball wake again. Ya know?
Shameless bump. Any devs out there want to chime in?
+1 to this.
+1 for this
Did you try No Lock ?
There's an app that does exactly what you said, "lockbot 2.0"
I am assuming u mean lockbot free and pro. Its alright, still a little buggy and its not the true original lockscreen. Its still a replacement afaik. The simpler the better I think. Anybody want to drop in to let us know if its possible or not?
Have you tried Widget Locker? It's what I've been using until CM6 comes out...
Widget Locker does not work well. It's slow to respond or just doesn't work at all most of the time (on Froyo at least).
what exactly is wrong with using No Lock for this? it lets you use the trackball to wake the phone in froyo.

Yes, but some of us don't want to wake the device to the homescreen. I prefer wake to the lockscreen, then taking a quick glance to see alerts and time. If I feel like unlocking then I can, if not just put the phone away. I've found "mylock" is a decent workaround for now, though not quite to my liking. Same with flyscreen, with all Widgets and updating turned off

Try this for now. My lock and another freebie widget called No Lock. When using advanced mode of My Lock And the No Lock widget set for locked, power button only will wake to the lock screen. Trackball is disabled. I use this when listening to music with phone in pocket when walking/working out. This way trackball doesn't wake the phone display. With No Lock widget set for unlocked, locking is disabled, so pushing any physical key/trackball wakes to home screen. This works for me till we get get trackball wake working.
this would be a cool app!
Any updates on this thread?
I have searched everywhere and I cannot find how to stop the normal unlock method and ONLY use the pattern to unlock the screen. I don't like having two unlock screens and I would like to use the pattern unlock. Is this possible without being built into a rom? I would prefer to remove the necessary files from the phone instead of installing new apps but anything is better than nothing right now.
On my hero i attempted to remove the sense unlock screen only to be greeted with the vanilla lockscreen.
I also tried using screenmodewidget but it disables both the lockscreen and pattern unlock.
Yeah, apps like "No Lock" do the same thing. Ugh.
Is this possible within a custom rom? anyone?
Id like this also, the pattern screen is a much sleeker looking screen than the standard unlock
it really makes no sense to have both
but no one can tell me how to make it just pattern lol

LOL, i didn't realize that it showed the htc thing still. it shouldn't. it should just be the pattern showing when you turn the screen on.
sorry, until someone actually writes a 2.1 ROM for this phone (i think the only reason someone hasn't is because the 4g kernel stuff hasn't been released yet, even tho 2.1 aosp has), you may be stuck with that...
weird tho...i don't think my girlbuddy's incredible does that, and it's sense too...
here's a quick work-around to kind of have only pattern lock. So when the normal lock screen comes on, just hit the "Menu" key and that'll go away, now you have just the pattern lock. This way it seems quicker for me.
BTW, i'm using the nonSense ROM, so it comes with standard Droid lock with the lock on left and speaker on right.

Its Really Easy to remove the HTC Lock Screen from your Sensation!
You Will Need Root To Do This!
I was getting lag when tring to un-lock the phone..
So all I did was rename the: htclockscreen.apk - to: htclockscreen.bck
And Now I have a lag free Lock Screen
i have no lag since 2.3.4 .. not to mention rooting sensation is direct contradiction to "Realy easy"
Thanks. I don't know that I've had any real lag issues, but I do like the option of getting rid of the "lock ring" lock screen and going with the standard Android lock screen.
I haven't decided whether to keep it like this or not, but I kind of like it.
I'll have to adjust to using a swipe across the screen instead of bottom to top to unlock though.
EDIT: Neat . . . it displays Charging (xx%) on this lock screen. That's kind of handy.
You guys are Ca-razy. The lock ring lock screen with the ability to instantly go to one of four frequently used apps is one of the main reasons I got this phone.
And as for lag, I have absolutely none with the standard lock screen.
And now you have to unlock to answer a phone call?

I didn't notice that until just a few minutes ago. (Hadn't gotten any calls 'til then).

I hate the lock screen in general so I use "No Lock" from the market (it is free). Now I just press the button and do what I need to do without having to drag a ring.

and yes, the lockscreen for 3.0 was a HUGE incentive to stay away from vanilla/asop...that, and the clock widget
ok i been looking everywhere and cant find out how to remove the lockscreen files so it doesnt show up... i installed a lockscreen app (go locker) and once in a while it will make me have to unlock both lockscreens the defualt and the go locker.. and its really anoying and i just want to get rid of the original but apps loke no lock dont work they didnt help at all... i am rooted and am willing to do terminal commands if there are any for this... thank you for any help you guys offer...
Are you running a Rom with tsm parts?
no its a stock rooted debloated deodexed rom... i dont like a lot of the tsm features so i didnt care to have it... if i need it to do this then is there a zip that will install it for me??
I would love to know how to remove it as well

Maybe try this and once started install your lock screen?
Lockscreen: Agile Lock(has a free & paid version; paid is $1) - I would HIGHLY recommend this lockscreen for anyone who doesn't like the AOSP/Puzzle/Glass or just wants to use the HTC sense lockscreen(you know, the ring that has shortcuts and such). If you do choose this route you would need to follow the Androidcentral guide(http://forums.androidcentral.com/dro...en-charge.html) to remove your current lockscreen because all this app does is add a second lock to your phone, so you would need to unlock your phone twice if you want to get in. Before you do that BE WARNED this removes not only your lockscreen but your power button menu as well(you know, when you hold the power button to restart and boot into recovery). Instead it just powers your phone off, you can always re-enable your lockscreen very easily using the same guide so there's nothing to fear. This app has TONS of customization and is far superior to the zero customization the AOSP/stock locks have. I'd say the only issue this app has is the fact that you can't go to silent/sound like you can with the AOSP. Added picture(s).
Got that from here.

I do not know is this is the same link as posted above, but this works, the only problem I have is that if you hold the power button to long it turns you phone off. Takes so getting used to, but the lock screen is history after you do this.
Entering that dialer code is one of the first things I do after flashing any ROM.
That works with ANY ROM & completely eliminates the totally useless annoying unlock screen.
Like the previous poster mentioned, it does take a little getting used to so you don't accidentally turn the phone off with the power button by holding it down too long.
