Ok I wish my NS4G had bluetooth messaging access profile (MAP)... My HP TouchPad allows my phone to pair with it and would send all my sms to my TouchPad while im on it. But it doesnt and my brothers Evo 3D does and it pisses me off lol
I dont know if this is possible but can I install any custom ROMS with MAP?

Wondering if there's a way to make my Evo behave as a Bluetooth headset so I can connect it to my PS3 when I go online. I always seem to lose my BT headset and would be great if I can use my Evo and broadcast it over its external speaker. I've tried searching in the Market and on the net for an apparently that would allow us to do that. I would imagine since our phone is BT ready, it would be easy to cook up an app to allow this function. Problem is I have zero app developing experience.

i think the playstation's Bluetooth works a bit different then normal? I think this because of the way you need to pair the controller on PC bluetooth dongles. It's not as simple as a regular bluetooth device.

Well, out of the box, if the Evo offered a BT service as a "headset" then it wouldnt be a problem. You can use any bluetooth headset on the PS3 as long as you have the sync pin, ya know.
So it sounds possible, but I'm not a developer either so I don't know for sure.
Hi All,
I posted this in the Sony Ericssion, dev tread as well, but wanted to address a larger audience, hope this is not considered spamming.
I was looking at the BlackBerry PlayBook adv. where they talk about the BB Bridge.
I was wondering if anyone knew of an app for HoneyComb and GingerBread where the tablet would act like the LiveView from SE.
Basically if both the devices are on the same WiFi network, or via BlueTooth (BT), the SMS / Call information can be sent over to the Tablet.
We can make it interesting by using the tablet as a BT headset for the phone. or even a host for SMS.
This is all possible through BT, which works when you sync the phone to a GPS or other "Speaker Phone" Devices i.e. car stereos
just wondering if its possible to change the code on device to allow pairing with non palm handets?
Wondering the same. I tried Bluetooth to no avail.
+1 been trying to get some of the more talented guys on this because I would love this on my evo
Same here, my crappy TomTom can do it so why not tpad?

Yes it can.
I have a se X10a rooted android 2.3.3 and I got it to connect. I may not have gotten the full features since I missed the pariing code and my phone must have sent a 0000 pair which was accepted.
Anyway, my phone says that there are two options, Connect and Phone audio. Incoming calls show up on the TP with the dialer interface including caller id right down to the state and country. Audio transferred properly, so the TP becomes a huge speaker phone. Outgoing calls can be dialed and my phone asks if it should use skype or the dialer (as its' set up that way), but this doesn't seem to be working totally as there is a fail message that shows up on the TP saying 'unable to connect' or 'dial directly from your phone' when using contacts. I was able to dial my Google Voice mailbox.
I had to go from WebOS to Other a few times to get it find the phone. Just selecting Scan wasn't enough. I have Uberkernal (the latest as of this date 9/10/11).
I was also able to connect my SE D980 stereo bt headset but it only recognized it as headset not a phone device. The unit has music track controls on it and they work fine with the standard Music app and don't work with the AudiophileHD app. Track forward and back, stop/start.
hello,
it doesn't work with my DHD 2.3.4
when looking for a device on my phone the TP isn't found...
& neither when looking for a device from the TP the DHD isn't found.
There's a precentral thread devoted to it: http://forums.precentral.net/hp-touchpad/295862-first-non-webos-phone-fully-tetherd-hp-touchpad.html
I was able to pair it with my Droid, but can only use the TouchPad as a bluetooth headset. I can also dial with the TouchPad, but I have to use the phone to activate the TouchPad as a headset.

I've got a DHD as well but running MIUI V4. I wasn't expecting it to work but just messing around, I thought I'd pair it in WebOS and it worked without a problem. I can even make calls from the touchpad without touching my phone. It should pair as a headset normally. It didn't work with my LG KC910 though.
*EDIT*
My mistake. It paired and made calls with my LG, no problem at all. Nothing worked under Android though, just file transfers.

Greetings,
I just upgraded from a 4g to a 4g slide, and noticed a big feature now missing. On the Mytouch 4g, you had 3 keyboards "Dragon", "Swipe", and "Touch". The Dragon Dictation keyboard was most useful as when driving, you could simply touch the dictation button, which would connect to your bluetooth headset, and speak your text, email, etc, while continuing to safely drive.
Now, with the 4g slide, the Dragon Dictation keyboard is missing. The swipe or touch keyboard mic buttons do not connect to the bluetooth headset. The only button that does connect for headset dication is the genius button. If you are responding to a text or email, the mic button only allows you to dictate to the HANDSET. Mine is fixed on a cradle in the dashboard, which means it will only work if I am <30mph with windows up, and I must yell for it to pick up my voice.
Has anyone else noticed this, and discovered a workaround? Not being able to dictate via the headset is a dealbreaker for me.
Well its not missing. It has the dragon keyboard. When I removed all the bloat ware I remove that from my rom. 21mb for that one little app. This phone is much more advanced the first MT4G . You just need to get use to it. My wife had the glacier til she dropped It.

^ thanks for the response. If it does have the dragon keyboard, it's not listed when I attempt to switch input methods.
The "tap to speak" button below is the one that connected directly to my Bluetooth headset, vs the handset mic. This is what I'm looking for, again so I can not have to yell at my phone, Samuel Jackson style, while driving . Can anyone suggest a workaround? Perhaps another keyboard?
EDIT: unable to post links
Lastly, I really do like the phone...much more advanced than the MT4G
Well, if anyone's interested, the application Vlingo that someone suggested on Tmo's support site functions as a workaround, allowing response to text via BT headset.
Hello XDA,
I have a Motorola Triumph and a HP Touchpad and would like to pair over bluetooth and share SMS messages between them. I can pair them and make phone calls with the Touchpad successfully, but I can't share SMS messages. Is it possible to implement the MAP (Message Access Profile) in a custom ROM? Are there any ROMS with this capability?
Thanks!
