Mango roll back, & affect on sd card Please Help!! - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have done some forum searching, but I'm short on time, so I apologize if this question was addresses. I have a factory unlocked Sammy Focus, (w/ official mango), & a perfectly running official, SanDisk 32gb, class 4 SD card.
Now, my problem is I need 2 rollback 2 NODO, or pre-NODO, 2 fix some issues, BUT WHAT I'M WONDERING IS: can I roll back with this card, or is there a procedure, (like adding it after the roll back), or am I screwed @ this point as far as the card goes, (same phn, same card??
Also, if someone could please lead me 2 the best"rollback method, (best, and easiest, but done properly), that wud be greatly appreciated, thank you very much =)

First off, as this question doens't appear to be at all related to development or hacking, you should be asking it in the Q&A forum, not here.
AFAIK there's no official WP7 microSD card bigger than 8GB, but unofficially it does seem to work with many other cards.
When did you add the card? If you added it before upgrading to Mango (i.e. your NoDo restore point was created while you already had that card in use), you're golden. Just connect the phone to the Zune software, and go to Settings -> Phone -> Update. There should be an option to restore.
If you added the card after upgrading to Mango, you'll need to remove it; restore points are very picky about having the exact hardware configuration. Remove the card and hard-reset the phone, just like you did when you added it. You can then follow the restore steps above to return the phone to NoDo.
Any time you add or remove the card, you'll have to reformat the phone. I know it sucks, but apparently MS never intended the SD slot to be user-accessible at all so this experience wasn't something a user was ever supposed to encounter. Be glad that Samsung apparently can't read the specification sheet, I guess?

You don't need to remove the card at all.
Look in the Sammy forum and find the nodo rom for your device and reflash. It will format the card once it restarts and will make it part of the os.

Admins, please move my post 2 the Q&A thread please, thank you

MicroSD card

Since I hijacked a thread and it got closed since it was irrelavent to the subsection I have come here. I didn't want to create another thread so I hijacked a useless one. But if someone could answer my question it'd be appreciated. Problem is, I put the .nbh on the reformated SD card, insert it run bootloader, it wont flash via SD card, it doesn't read the contents. Yes, I put it on as KAISIMG.nbh, I have formated it to FAT32, I have my phone HardSPL, I dont understand I've read the instructions like 30 times. Plus I've been flashing since 8125 and flash my friends 8525 periodically this way. So any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
change the card
One step ahead of you... doesn't work
I saw that you already search and learn... good.
But it's against the rule to post in the new thread, since there existing thread discussing it. Why don't you post in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336158&highlight=sd+card+flash . Many already discuss there, so maybe someone has the same problem and can solve it for you.

[Q] Cellular South HTC Hero Rooting

I hope im posting this in the right place. I am VERY VERY new to rooting. I have read and heard alot about it but after reading the thread at xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581869 I decided to go ahead and root my phone. The primary motivation for rooting is the ability to run applications from the SD card because my Hero runs really slow. I flashed the ROM and created a backup but after trying many ways to download apps to SD, the last one read said I have to partition my memory card. The catch is, the thread didnt tell me that it would delete everthing on the card when i partitioned the memory card, following the thread i factory reset my phone. Doing this deleted all my save data and backups and now im worse off than i was before. After briefly describing my situation im hopeing that someone out there can help me.
QUESTIONS
1. Are there any ROM's that you can flash on cellsouth HERO that will work
2. How do I install apps to my SD card
3. Is there a guide on "how to" customize the HERO head to toe.
1. This is the only rom i have seen for Cell South http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731404
2. That rom should have apps2sd built in, so as long as you partition your sd card correctly, it will automatically do it for you.
3. Check the themes forum for more info.

Flashed the ROM? What do you mean by that? what ROM?
Sorry your in the wrong section..this is a QUESTION..there is a Q&A sub forum for these. i know your new but you had to see that when you were going through th forums to get here.
I am currently on the newest nightly for the Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 go to that thread download the newest nightly then go to the brainfukt kernel thread and download the latest stable kernel he has. click this link as you will need the google apps http://mirror.kanged.net/gapps/gapps-mdpi-20100816-signed.zip . Go to recovery flash the rom then the kernel then the google apps then reboot.
assuming you partitioned your sd card properly you will have the ability to use apps2sd
in order to use it you will need to go to ur settings and open CyanogenMod settings and choose applications. In there you will need to tick the box marked move apps and then choose external on the drop down menu. once you do that then you will be able to install all your apps straight to your sd card and any that installed automatically once you synced your account you can go in to the main settings application setting and physically move those to sd card by choosing the app and it will give you an option for that. If you need any help or advise during that process feel free to shoot me an email or pm

[Q] Trying to root my Inspire 4g

I am asking this again here, as my previous thread seemed to be hijacked by someone elses question!
I recently decided to root my inspire as i am no longer using it as a phone, so i thought that it would be interesting to do and fun to play around with all of the options available (i recently did the same thing on my Nook Tablet, and that was the single best decision i have made a while!). I started out researching the manual techniques to do it, but i didn't really like the high risk factor there (i really dont want to brick my phone) so i tried Ace Hack Kit. Of course, it has to download the phone from 2.3.5 to be able to work. During this process, it has me hold volume up and power twice, and every time i do that, it flashes up really quick something about holding volume up and volume down and power, but then it skips past that. Anyway, here is where my problem comes in: It says that it should reboot in to hboot, which it does, but that hboot should run a test, then prompt me to continue by pressing volume up, and then should reboot, flashing twice, and that should be the end of it. THe problem is, it does boot in to hboot, but it is just a standard hboot screen asking to recover, load bootloader, etc. When i reboot from there it just boots in to the phone as normal. I have tried 3 different SD cards, all of which work and are recognized by my PC, my other phone and my Nook tablet. I have also inserted a working sim card, just to be sure that wasnt the issue, and i still cant make it work. Does anyone have any experience with his issue, or any idea what i might be doing wrong?
Opening multiple threads on the same issue is frowned upon. Even if someone supposedly hijacked your thread. I read it and only 7 posts ,I'd call that far from hijacked.
Now at the issue on hand. As mentioned in the other thread. Its the SD card. Also their is a hack kit irc go there. Plus pasting the output would help aswell

OK, as i have stated, i have tried a new SD card (2, actually, with the same results.) as far as an output screen, there is none. Ace Hack Kit goes through the whole downgrade process, my phone gets in to hboot, but it is just a standard hboot screen, and it doesn't downgrade. When my phone restarts, it restarts like i just did a factory reset.
There is an output, copy what ever it says. There probably is something you missed
As too the SD card ,try adifferent one again. Your SD cards are corrupt and you need to find one that works with the kit
Also since your on a sense 3.0 did you do the changing of the boot img before running the kit?

by changing the of the boot img do you mean downgrading it? That is what i am trying to do. The kit is supposed to do it automatically. If that is not what you mean, please explain!
As to the output, copy thing, no, there is none of that. I have followed the instructions about 20 times. After starting the downgrade process, the phone restarts and comes up with a red triangle. At that point i am supposed to hold volume up and power, and it goes and reboots and i do the same thing again. At this point, i am told that the phone will boot into hboot and check the boot image. When it is done, i am supposed to hit volume up to confirm, and then the phone will reboot, this time in to the down graded image. That is where my problem comes in. Instead of checking the boot image, it just goes to a standard hboot screen. There are no error messages or warnings, and i have followed the instructions to the letter.
As far as the cards are concerned, the maker of the kit suggested a 2 or 4gb Sandisk series 4 or 6 SDHC card, so i bought 2 of the series 6 4gb, along with the 2 others that i already have. I also have 2 series 4 4gb and 2 series 4 2gb Sandisk cards, as well as an 8gb and 2 4gb PNY cards. All of the cards recognize in my phone and PC, and the older cards also recognize in my Nook (and were used to root and load custom roms on several other devices), i have not loaded the new cards in to any other devices besides my laptop and the phone for fear of corrupting it. So i find it difficult to believe that the cards could be the problem.
I know what the kit says. What I'm saying is In the command prompt it spits out a lot of info. For example it will say stuff about zergrush and or taco root. THATS the important stuff, this is what is used to allow the downgrade to be possible. If their a failure in the process it would state it there. That's why I keep asking for it. Don't understand your reluctance to do a simple copy and paste
The changing of the boot img is something that is different and you should read about it on attn1 site. Version 3.20 has a slightly different method

I appreciate the attempt to help (the reason why i didn't post a direct copy paste was simply as i was in no position at the time to take one, not any reluctance to ultimately do so...) In my recent attempt to provide you with a full copy paste of the process, i was able to figure out what i was doing wrong. For anyone who may have the same or similar issue: format the SD card while it is in the phone from your PC right before starting the process. Thats all it took. Even for a card that was brand new and untouched, or formatted before putting it in the phone, i couldn't get it to work, but it worked doing it that way, and i am now happily rooted and ready to install CM9!
Glad you got it figured out. Formatting the SD card in the phone is a must, since the phone puts important files on the card after formatting.

Wrong. There's no need to format the sdcard to run the Hack Kit, unless your sdcard is not in fat32 system file format. The only requirement is that your sdcard must not be corrupted to work as a goldcard. Corruption of the boot partition of the sdcard can not be solved by formatting and is produced by improper dismount of it.

I'm just speaking from experience. Every SD card I've put in my phone I had to format in the phone because it was giving me problems. After, no problems. Maybe it's just my phone. or the cards weren't FAT32.
You're last sentence is probably where most people screw it up. You can't just yank an SD card out of whatever device it's in, which I think a lot of people do. But I have fixed cards that were removed without unmounting by formatting. Maybe other parts were corrupt but not the boot partition?

As far as I am concerned the boot partition can not be restored by formatting. SDCARD should always be dismounted properly.

[Q] Request help Yuweng please

Hi Yuweng! How are you?
I am writing here, since no new members can post questions in the restricted area only to devs (still do not understand why this).
I tried to install this mod to my phone a few days ago, but no luck. After installation, at first, it seemed that everything happened as expected, but after a few moments of much slowness in the system, my phone went into boot loop. I tried to do as you had described in their responses, removed the SD card and started the phone, but nothing happened. I then tried clearing the caches, dalvik, factory reset, and nothing. Reinstalled, then the entire ROM and have not tried anything else after that day, but now I wonder why so many people could and I could not? Certainly did something wrong and after having gone through a similar problem a few weeks ago, when I thought I would never again recover my first Android, behold, I got following the forums, including XDA, thanks to God, put my phone working again. So I thought, if I could bring back to my cell operation twice why I can not try this new solution to the problem of unreasonable internal memory size of our phones? Could you please answer me where I went wrong step?
I believe ive done everything right, since the procedure is quite simple (I could carry my recovery and now I'm working CWMR ), but I do not know if I should delete the content of the SD card completely, redoing all the partitions, and then reattach it backed up the entire contents, since I have many applications installed directly on the SD card? That would be correct? Or is it unnecessary? Or wrong? How should I proceed with the content on my SD card? What about the scripts contained in the folder Scriptz, should I remove any of them or it's not necessary? I used the command to check if I have swap support and unfortunately I have not found that. The swap script can disrupt the functioning of my phone since it does not support it? Some other script may have caused the problem I had, depending on the support capabilities of my phone? How should the preparation of my SD card, when I already have content applications installed on it? My SD card is a 4GB class 4, this may have been the problem? Sorry for my almost total ignorance in the Android world, but I am willing to learn much about it, but while I'm getting, I'll be bound to annoy the wiser on the subject ... I thank you.
hey complete your 10 post by posting in drfrent thread ask them question and do whatever you want to then go to dev thread of the rom and post you problem there you will find a better ans you might get your rom working

[Q] Rooting info needed / Please help soon.

Hi
I wanted to ask something about Rooting but couldn't find specific section for it or if there is, i am sorry i couldn't locate it. I apologize for it.
I have a Huawei Ascend G610-U20 with Android 4.2.1. The internal memory is 4GB but only 1.86GB is useable (on format). I am using Stock ROM.
I have some applications which are installed in phone memory (sdcard 0, not external sdcard). For example Facebook and by default it doesn't have the option of shifting to SD card, that option is turned off. Similarly this is off for Mix Cloud app. There are so many other apps as well. I use Dodol launcher and all it's themes are on phone memory and cannot be migrated to external SD card.
I found this thread of making SD card as default location for installation. I didn't do it being afraid to make any disastrous changes to my phone.
Then i got to know about rooting and i was again afraid of bricking my phone. This is why i am asking it here. I had previously another Android phone and i rooted it and then it started some problems mainly software clashes. e.g. when viber is being used and a phone call comes, phone restarted. I thought of at least considered that time that this is due to rooting.
My sole purpose of doing any of above method is, to be able to migrate those apps to external SD card which are by default not able to be migrated in stock ROM. Else than this i am not much advanced user and nor do i want to go further deeper.
What you recommend and what is the best way to do.
Just a point to mention, in case of using that 1st method of Android ADB method, i think it would need me to format the phone and then reinstall the apps. Am i right?
Please guide me.
Thanks in advance.
