[Q] How to repair bootloader?

As many of you probably know there is an issue with the DFT HSPL and the Mango update resulting in the device no being able to be detected in bootloader mode (one line on the tri-colour screen). Is there a fix available alredy or not yet? Because I can't flash the official mango update for my Vodafone Trophy because of the abovesaid reason. Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated.

probably the easiest method will bee having a ffu file to use with the updatewp or in alternative the cab.pks file with the spl
these are the files signed by ms to be deployed using updatewp
... ultimately we shall wait for the next official update that will be deployed from Zune

I've received the HTC update for Windows Phone through Zune yesterday, update that contains SPL and radio, phone rebooted twice immediately after the update and still no good bootloader, so no luck with that.

thats all bad news.. for now we are stucked with this problem

note to self.. never use custom rom until someone has the solutions to ALL of the problems.

Did you already tried goldcard method. This flashes also the bootloader.

The only way I see after all this attempts is directly flashing mermoy with JTAG

only way to fix this is by " http://gsm-technix.de/shop/produkte/19/1/10/htc/ "
I used this after testing custom spl/radios and ofcause **** can happen
20 euro + 6.90 euro and your phone is fixed for German people
(it worked for me and got my phone back in only 2 day's )

Correction:
Never use Custom ROMs without reading the forum or read the chef instructions first. If people are too lasy to read dont mess with your phones.

jup correct.
And if you want to test/dump/build/cook be prepared to get a bricked phone

iwas have same proplem an i tried all those methods :
*fomat device
*restore backup
*creat goldcard
*replace card
*flashing rom via xtc Clip Box
*Y-Cable Method
And all failed
at end i relpaced the device

I had use DFT mango coustem Room till the mango update comes in market from microsoft
use same DFT program 1- DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH / 2- DFT_HSPL_WP7FG1_INSTALL """but select the 1 option""" then install orgenal shipped ROM (old V. WP 7) to get back the orginal HSPL
then it be easy to update to WP 7.5 by Zune
(my HD7 worke fine and normal update by Zune)

If you are going to using stock or shipped ROM you will not needs Gold card "only if your phone is louked then you needs gold card)

Newst Android Version for the ChaCha?

Hi Guys,
as you see in the topic, i want to know which is the newest Version of Android for the HTC ChaCha.
I bought it from o2 Germany and i will get it in some days.
Is there any further Update like Android 3.x or 4.x?

OTA Update sais, there is nothing new ...
i'm not sure, if this is the latest Stock-ROM ... i don't think so ... is there any possibility to update to a newer *stock* rom?

not i tries the RUU Updater "RUU_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.33.401.1_Radio_47.17.35.3033H_7.48.35.14_2_release_204385_signed.exe" but it didn't work ... got an Error Code 131 i think .... something didn't match ... "wrong ruu updater" or something ... don't know what to do, to get a newer Firmware now?!

With s-on all you can do is to update your rom to 1.33
If you are windows user - it's quiet easy. You have to prepare gold card. You'll find info on xda and google how to do that. Than just run RUU, and software should be updated in a while. Then you can get TempRoot. What it does and more importantly what it does NOT is all written in TempRoot topic.
If you want to install higher updates/custom roms and use Apps2SD (I'm sure you would like to do that, as after some days of using stock chacha you'll run out of mem), you will have to get s-off.
By now the only possibility is to use XTC-clip. You can either buy one or find phone service that has it and will do it for you for some small charge. Here in Poland it was 10E for me. When you get s-off you can install CWM recovery, and then do anything you like. You can install CM7, other roms, gain permroot etc etc

but how can i install the OTA Air Update from 1.33 to 1.52?
i downloaded the zip file from the "everything for chacha thread", renamed it to PH06IMG.zip and put it in the root-folder and launched the bootloader but nothing happend ...?!

i tried to rename it to update.zip and use the "recovery" tool and press vol-up and home at the screen with the red "!"
i get to a blue screen with yellow text and i choose "apply update from sd.card" but then i get "invalid operation" and the phone reboots ...
and i get the message: E: can't open /cache/recovery/command ??
i tried all options in the recovery-menu and i don't know how to go on?!

We have a german Android-Discussion Board where peoeple offer it for free or up to about 10 EUR (about 14-15 USD) but there are no xtc clip owners in my area so i have to send it via mail to the xtc owner and let them do the work and they send it back to me

trying to contact HTC ... but they even don't know what they deliver ...

Just installed this update manually, and a newer kernel and bootloader was installed - that seems about it tbh, considering the tiny size of the update.
EDIT: Kernel is still 2.6.35.10, but has a more recent date (About Phone lists it as Wed April 11) compared to the previous kernel's date, so I'm guessing that there may be some battery life improvements due to this newer kernel

How have you downloaded the OTA File? Today I received a notification that the version 1.57.707.3 is available.
I'm using ZaSa_4chacha_GB1.57_2.0 (Asia 1.57.707.2) and haven't installed the update yet, because I believe that it won't work.

Do these OTA updates remove root, my phone has been bugging me for a while.

does it remove the dialer bug ?

Update broke Wifi
Got the update OTA today on my daughter's ChaCha. After installing it wifi is broke. Trying to enable Wifi results in 'Error'. No idea why, no idea how to fix it either... Trying to return to previous version but that's refused by RUU... Now what! :-(

OTA Update to Android 4.0.4 for S4 is Out!

Update: the first users got this OTA update on their stock, non rooted, untouched HTC One S (S4). Everyone could choose to wait to get the update in the normal way. It will come now or later for all. If you can't wait, you can also choose to aply the full RUU from the RUU thread.
Here is the OTA update: OTA_Ville_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.21.401.10-1.78.401.2_release_271130unb1vtlbbuv42jp3.zip (download from HTC server or use this mirror). For now you can't install this update if you don't follow the steps down here.
Wifi issue fixes and new EA apps are part of the update. There is also a Rescue app included.
Required
- SuperCID (some kind of universal carrier ID/ region, named the 'developers region'). Everyone can install SuperCID, if you're on US T-Mobile and even if you're on a Chinese device. And everyone need it for now, even the European users. Ofcourse you can always restore your original cidnumber if you want.
- The stock 1.78 WWE ROM (d-h.st mirror or hotfile.com mirror). Also everyone need this ROM and everyone can install this rom if you have got SuperCID.
- Back-up of your files on computer. This update will format all partitions, even the sd card!
Let's get this on a list
- First you need an unlocked bootloader.
- Then you need root.
- After that you can get SuperCID on your phone (thanks hard5ter for reporting). Some users can start here cause they have already an unlocked bootloader and root.
* If you are not on stock 1.78.401.2, you have to install the RUU 1.78 WWE. Before you can do that you have to relock your bootlader. You will loose root, you will get stock Recovery and above all you got the right stock ROM for the OTA.
* If you are on stock 1.78.401.2 already, you can go to the next step after installing stock Recovery. If you want to keep root while updating to the new Android, use 'root survival mode' in SuperSU Pro or use this free OTA RootKeeper. But you need to install stock Recovery.
- Now your phone is ready, you do have SuperCID, relocked bootloader, stock Recovery and the stock WWE ROM. Time to boot your phone, check for updates and download and install that OTA update to get Android 4.0.4.

- Fastboot method of flashing the new Radio gives a 'signature verify fail' error
- The PJ40IMG.zip method in bootloader will also not install any RADIO update.
- In TWRP Recovery you can also flash RADIO zip files. Dima901 replaced the Radio in one of the zip's there with the new Radio and was able to update his Radio trough TWRP, but for most of us that won't work for some reason. If you got stuck in TWRP keep pressing the power button, you have to swipe the slider to the right of your screen, still keep pressing the power button and your phone will shut down. It looks like that this method is only working for certain ROM users like CM, AOKP and MUI users.
- I updated my RADIO by just upgrading to Android 4.0.4. You can do that in a few minutes. Make a nandroid back-up first and you will be back on your current ROM in less then a hour but with the new RADIO.

Lol, it was just a link for example. I didn't get my hands on that OTA update, cause we don't know the filename yet. HTC stores al the OTA files on the fotadl.htc.com server, so probably our OTA is already public on that server, but we can't download it as long as we don't know the filename.

There are some downloads with kernel 3.0.16 on http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads for EU WWE 1.11.401.109 and 1.11.401.101, might be related?
Edit: these seem to be for VilleC2, filenames are villec2-ics-crc-3.0.16-f4c3948.zip and villec2-ics-crc-3.0.16-503c44f.zip so not related to the OTA, also explains the lower version numbers on these perhaps.

That kernels are for the Ville C2 (s3 soc) android 4.0.3.

How to update to 6.0.1 from 6.0 rooted

I have an european A9 6.0 rooted and I wonder it's possible tu update to 6.0.1 and the way for that.
I'm afraid to brick my device so I prefer ask before.
I suppose it's impossible to update via OTA because my A9 is root and I need an official recovery.
I have only these informations about my HTC A9:
Logiciel number: 1.27.401.5
buils number: 1.27.401.5 CL656287
baseband 1.0.U00297.1
kernel 3.10.73
The A9 is S-On

Easiest,less likely to have issues is to reflash ruu for your region and take the ota then reroot

1.27.401.5 is your version/region number yes.. If not mistaken yes rename to 2PQ9IMG and copy to either internal or sdcard,reboot to download or bootloader mode I would think and let it find the zip(research this a bit first)... Unsure though if have to be s-off for that method to work...I wouldnt think so as long as file is signed and untouched... Good luck
