Yesterday, I tried a oneclick root application but turns out only to complete the mission halfway. After pushing volume up and power button, I see
Lock state- unlocked, but Rom manager told me I'm not rooted
Today I found several thread, including the sticky thread on the top of the forum page, to root it the regular way. However, when I proceed to
fastboot oem unlock
nothing happens on the phone screen
Then I tried next step
"fastboot flash recovery 3024v3-i9023.img"
the picture of what happened is attached

still nothing on the phone screen
I try the recovery option on the phone, but few seconds later exclamtion sign and android robot show up. I'm able to get out of it and go into android system recovery, which only has 4 option
reboot system now
apply update from /sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I tried both wipe option but they are both fruitless except wiping out all my data. They didn't change the lock/unlock property.
My i9023 is on 2.3.6, don't know if it matters.
So here is my situation, this is my first attempt to root the phone.
Guys help me please.
Did you get it rooted?
Have you tried this?

No matter how I try, it's always android 1.0 device...
Just in case we are missing the obvious, when you run your fastboot command, is your phone plugged into your computer via usb, and with your phone on the bootloader screen (power button + volume up when your phone is off)?
also, try:
fastboot devices
Guys, finally get it rooted and installed cm7.1. But the driver still seems to have some problem. It still reads android 1.0 in the device manager on the computer but the cwm is flashed in accidentally. Everything after is easy.

Alright guys, need some help here. I went here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155623 and followed the step 1 exacly as told. Using Galaxy s 4g..the odin stated a pass..but the phone turned off and it won't power up no more..could somone have any idea on this?
Only flash roms for the SGH-T959V and not any other model
First look up in the bible (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117554) the guide on how to get into download mode. Your phone will hopefully get recognized.
Second, look up raver's KC1 cleanup. Search for raver, you should find it. That should get you back on a clean SGS4G rom.
Third, don't install ROMs that wasn't made for your phone.
Perhaps because it's not made for this phone... From my understanding, you should never use anything that's NOT made specifically for this phone.
Despite the similarities this phone is very different.

yeah, flashing roms made for other phones is a good way to kill the Galaxy S 4G. never flash a rom that is made for another phone. it might still be recoverable though.. look up the posts on unbricking your phone using heimdall, maybe you can find something that works.

Not necessarily. There is always a chance on getting Odin to recognize it.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Ouch, should've read around the forum more. :T
Does Odin recognize your phone at all when you plug it in? Try the methods to get into download mode and see if Odin recognizes it. If it does, you might be able to restore your phone.
If that doesn't work, try this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1220181&highlight=debrick
I haven't really read that thread in detail myself, so maybe others could help you out on that.
Open odin on your computer.
Do a battery pull. Put the battery back in. Hold vol + and -, then plug the usb cable in. If Odin recognizes it, you're in luck.
You should at least be able to get to download mode. When you say it wont power up does it at least show the battery image with the USB plugged in while off? If it does you should be able to hold vol down and power to get to download mode and use ODIN to flash a new ROM.
If it's a blank screen and Odin won't recognize the phone look up raverx3x 's tutorial on how to re-install the correct bootloaders using Heimdall. It worked for me. I can't give you the link because I'm not at the computer now. Once you get the phone to boot you will probably have to flash back to stock using the KC1 cleanup rom and go from there.

I had problems b4 similar to this. Pull the battery, plug in USB, hold down volume up and down at the same time, then put battery back in without letting go and see if that works. If not go to the forum that you flashed the wrong Rom and see if they have a different button combo for dl mode than we do.
Hope this helps

Hello all,
Yesterday I was trying to flash JB, flash it successfully but then when i need to flash gapps the rainbows inside recovery was so annoying that i try to flash a GB bootloader, I think because the driver or something else the flash wasn't right and since then I got a expensive paperweight. Trying to boot in download mode the phone turn on showing a completely white screen for about 3 seconds then the phone turn off and thats is a eternal loop. turn on > white screen > turn off. When the screen is white ODIN and Heimdall recognize the phone but the device simply turn off after seconds so is impossible to flash something.
Today i got a JIG MicroUSB try to boot in Download Mode with it but does not work.
Help I read several threads along XDA but nothing could help by now.
Thanks in advance
I sure hope that you tried flashing some other things using Heimdall or Odin before using your choice of software to flash bootloaders.
In this state you're in, have you tried the battery pull, hold volume buttons, plug in usb, put battery back in, continue holding power button method to enter download mode?
If you can get to download mode this way, you aren't bricked.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
Seems to me you have definitely bricked it :s A bootloader flash is practically the only way our phone can be bricked. That is why it is recommended to flash other things first to make sure odin has no issues with drivers and such

Sure I flash another things, and yes I try all the combo buttons to enter in download mode. Nothings happens i can't get into download mode.
In case that I hardbrick my device there is another easy solution.

Yep a lot of times.
You mention that Odin sees the device for a moment before the device loops. As a last ditch effort, you may be able to issue an "adb reboot download" command using adb on your PC. No guarantee that this will work, but it's worth a shot.

Gotta try to issue the command at the same moment that Odin sees the device.

You can download what you need for adb from here: http://d-h.st/2mi
Extract the zip package, browse to the unzipped folder where you'll see adb.exe and some other files. Place all of those files in the Windows folder on your C:\\ drive. Then, press the Windows key on your keyboard + R so that the "Run" prompt appears. Type cmd and then press enter. In the command prompt, type this just as Odin sees your device (keep an Odin window open to be sure):
Code:
adb reboot download
The problem is, if both your primary and secondary bootloaders are screwed up, you may never get into download mode. It's worth a shot to try, though.
I agree jscott, I believe there's still hope !
I have managed to rescue my infuse from some dark moments.. once I used this one-click unbrick and I managed to save it.
See if you have my same luck with it

Sorry, but neither Odin or Heimdall will work unless you are able to get the phone into download mode. If it turns out that you really have borked the bootloaders, you won't be able to get into download mode. Someone will have to make a jtag repair like in the video below to restore your phone. The guys in this video are reputable and can fix it.:

Hey guys,
well i installed clockworkmod rom manager and used that program to upgraded to cyogenmod 7.
It seems that after the backup and install of the new rom, my phone now only boots to the LG logo screen. This is a very big problem for me since I do not have nvflash installed and only CWM.
The main issue is when i boot into CWM, i can can navigate around, however the power button does not work for selecting anything. I can't select reboot, can't do anything. Which brings me to another thing, CWM ONLY has "reboot phone", "wipe cache", "wipe partition", "apply sd card update.zip"(have Cygen mod rom on my sdcard).
What do you guys recommend me doing ot fix this? I'd be happy just bringing the phone back to stock.
Any help ASAP would be great as i need my phone working sooner rather htan later.
First off rom manager doesn't work on this phone. Second go to this thread

Hey,
Sorry about htat. Ill reupload a photo.
I am holding down both volume buttons. THe funny thing is that when i pull the battery, hold the two buttons down, then plug in the phone, it doesn't go to the "S/W Upgrade" screen. It stays black. Once I initiate one of the NVflashes, the screen then switches over to the "S/W Upgrade screen".
Should it be going to this upgrade screen after a short bit after i plug it in? Is this an issue?
Well guy's.
Following that post worked. For some reason everytime i would do at home, it wouldn't work. I tried running nvflash as admin/non admin, still showed the error.
However coming into work and using my work computer, resolved the issue. I got the experimental touch based CWM up and running and was able to use a coworkers G2x to access my SD card to put Cyanogen 7 on which then allowed me to flash that ROM to my G2x.
All is working well now!!! Thank god for the nearly unbrickable phone

Not a big problem though.. You are in bootloop,in order to get out of it. If cwm is working then go there and wipe everything. After that go to DOWNLOAD Mode and flash your sock ROM of your phone. It wil surely work.

Not needed you can only delete cwm by flasing the stock recovery or a stock rom with odin!
Maybe you should go to the Galaxy S2 forums and ask it there!
My son's nexus started rebooting on its own here and there a little less than a month ago. Last week it started boot looping. I would have to turn it off(only worked sometimes by going into fastboot mode). Tried resetting and wiping in recovery with no luck. This problem gets worse when it's plugged up to a computer the phone turns into a reboot machine. I read up it could be the power button and took it apart to find the button works fine (still cleaned out though). Any ideas.

Yeah stock recovery doesn't really allow anything, its more locked down than anything, my suggestion to u would be root it, grab a aosp ROM or something that looks stable from one of the development threads, if I could I'd suggest Beanstalk, I was a part of that development team for a long time and its an awesome upgrade from stock, I'd grab a twrp recovery, unlock the bootloader and flash recovery, then wipe everything and install a ROM, shouldn't have any issues after that, and if u do, then its hardware

Can't root or unlock it. Once I connect it to a computer through USB it goes into crazy reboot mode. Won't go past the Google screen.

The phone won't stay in fastboot mode?

Sometimes it will

If it stays in fastboot mode, use the fastboot command "fastboot erase userdata" and "fastboot erase cache" and see what happens. If these commands fail, the emmc in the phone could be dying.
Not sure how to do that

Well using the root toolkit on got it to the point of the unlock screen and selected yes then when it reboots it just stays on the boot screen. Have to use the toolkit with fastboot screen since I can't install drivers for the toolkit to recognize the phone.

Have you had success at unlocking the bootloader? If you unlock it, does it relock when the phone is rebooted? If the answer is yes to both questions, I think it's time for a replacement motherboard.

It unlocks but then when it tries to reboot it just stays on the Google boot screen. When I put it back into fastboot it shows as locked still. So I guess it's the motherboard then.

Yup, time to find a Nexus 5 with a smashed screen and working internals. I've done the motherboard swap for a few N5s.
check for the infamous power button fault. that can easily cause endless reboot cycle.
I have never come across a situation where the power button causes the bootloader to relock itself when the phone is rebooted.

I posted in the op if ruled out power button ad on taken out apart already and checked that first. Exactly once it says unlocked and tried to reboot it stays in bootloop then when I force it into fastboot it shows as locked still.

Like audit said. It's probably the motherboard.
