Chargers left in hotel, where to buy? (retail store) - Epic 4G Accessories

Searched around and found that monoprice.com is the go-to for cables/chargers..but I'd like to get one TODAY. At which retail store can I find the best price to replace the stock wall charger and usb cable for our epics?

Luckly you can just use your computer or laptop to recharge your phone for now.

If you cant wait to buy one off e-bay i would go to walmart. They have all kinds cheaper chargers.

Walmart has one that fits Samsung Epic (says so on the package), but I had one from there that would lock my screen while charging (took it back and they didn't have another). My other one from Walmart has always worked fine. If you don't need a wall charger, they have car chargers too. Also if you can find a Radio Shack they have them. Sometimes Truckstops have them. Anyways, chargers have gotten to be like reading glasses at my home and work, they are everywhere!

I second the laptop/computer charging for now. Don't give those retail stores the satisfaction of ripping you off!

left the charger, probably left the cord too. fortunately enough anyone that has electronics now usually has a $5-$10 USB->microUSB cord. just plug it in to your computer and skip the wall charger

IDK where you live, but in a ohio theres a chain of stores call "Big Lots" use to be "Big and Small lots".... any who, they sell universal chargers for 6 bucks. I bought one of these as I wait for my better charger to be shipped form china via boat for 2 dollars.

any dollar tree should have a 4 or 5 dollar fire hazard charger.

Pay for a charger?! Don't you guys know that all you have to do is go to the front desk of any large hotel, tell them that your mom left her phone charger in a room a few weeks ago when she was passing though, but you don't know esactly when or what room, and they'll have a box of chargers for you to rummage through. You'll be able to take your pick of micro USB chargers from any OEM you want. Except Apple. People call or come back for Apple chargers.

I have to say that I *loved* the Big Lots comment. My father went there one time and bought two Duracell car chargers for my mother's LG phone for $8!!!! He didn't even know what type of interface she uses, (it's micro USB,) but for that price, he just bought the two and figured one would work.
Fry's Electronics and Microcenter have really cheap Micro USB cables that they'll have in 50-gallon drums at the entrance of some of their stores.

Spend the 15-20 bucks at Radio Shack for a decent quality charger that won't degrade your battery faster because of unsteady voltage output.

I recommend an iGo Charger from Radio Shack. Best investment in my opinion since you can just buy the interchangeable plugs and never have to get another charger again, at least until the thing poops out. Have had my two car and one home charger for several years now. Plus I like the Y-adapter that lets you charge two things off the same charger.

alternativ chargers?

last week i were on a holyday where i really didn?t have access to any form of power (that is unless i went into a store to use their power to charge my xda2 where i then had to wait for something which felt like a year for it to get some power)
needless to say that i didn?t use my xda2 all that much for that week
I remember that you for normal cell phones can get different types of funny chargers
Like one where you have to turn some handle to produce power
And also one which used solar power
Have anybody had any experience with such types of chargers and the xda series ?
I mean sure they would prob not have the right connector but modding one yourself using the connector from the charger to connect a modded wire would be a walk in the park
Hi Rudegar,
have a look at
http://secure.proporta.com/proporta/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=657&t_mode=des
Proporta iSun
I was thinking on buying the Proporta iSun...
That would solve the problem Rudegar had!
And of course it was a right good suggestion from bejay!
So anybody has it?
When you buy it does it comes with the right Himalaya cable?
Tnx.
Any charger that supplies 5V on a "sony walkman style" jack plug (+ on tip if I recall) will do.
Most chargers come with a variety of jack plugs.
The jack plug goes on the charger-to-mda-plug converter that was shipped with your device.
Worked for me in the car when I had no carkit
I just purchased a Covertec travel usb charger + car usb charger + usb cable for $19.95 + shipping from Mobileplanet.com Search covertec xda on the site. The DC 5V output is rated at 850mA or 1A. There is a review up on pccw.net.
I like the usb solution better because I can reuse the charger for most new cell phones, blackberries, pda etc. So I only need to carry one power source instead of 2 or 3.
There is another USB high current charger wiith a brand called Ecovell which costs $15 just for the AC charger.

For my it's a little bit expensive...
But who has core can buy it!
I'll remain on Proporta iSun solution.

i would asume this one is even cheaper not sure how many volts it give however and if using it could damage ones xda
also since it give somewhat less then 1 to 1 charging to 100% would likely take a great deal of time but hey they say we should get some workout once in awhile
good stuf for a reasonable price: www.time168.com
(also on eBay, but cheaper when bought directly)

damnit where are the spare batteries and wall chargers already

i like to have a spare battery always charged in my pocket ready to go.. why are they not out for the galaxy s already?
And where's the home dock and the active car holder?
Samsung should have had all this ready and being pushed out with the iphone 4g pending release.
I am disappointed, everyone here wants this to be a huge success. And after the delays initially and the lack of access.... *shrug*
Australian site techbuy appears to have them:

though maybe they are just listing them without having them yet.. says its 'order-in'
Just buy another micro usb cable and a usb to ac adapter wall charger. Shouldn't cost more than $7 on ebay.

that is nothing like an external wall charger and batteries.. you can have 2 batteries charging at once and have spare batteries.. are you dense.. nothing like haveing to charge the battery IN THE PHONE!!!!
not sure if a lot of folks are just unaware, but every phone i've had charged fine from a usb port off my computer
since i started tethering my phone to my laptop (browse the web from family couch) december 2009, i haven't used the wall charger
even if i'm not tethering, i've got a spare usb cable on the desktop, that when i sit down at the desk, the phone or whatever device, gets connected to - far more convenient and fewer items occupying space on the desk
plus, i've got that Tmo car charger that just has a usb port on it's end - so the same cable that i use to tether to the laptop (when in the car), if i'm using the phone in the dock for nav, runs down to the charger - the charger, with no cable hanging off it when not in use, let's me leave the charger in the socket 24/7 - no looking for it in the glove box and untangling it etc
that charger is simply converting the 14V car voltage to 5 V the USB port normally delivers
2 - 3.5 hours seems to take my 1150mah battery from low charge to full
for what it's worth
Lack of available accessories and software bugs, seems to me that Samsung rushed this thing to beat the iphone4 deadline.
But since they sell this thing in so many countries and networks I expect they will have little choice but to support it properly.
dude ita all ther in korea the gmarket got all acessories already
I'm sure once the Galaxy S class family phones for the US are officially on sale, you'll start to see more accessories be available. Just hold the fort for now man. Be patient.

Well I'm a happy user of the GS and regarding to the bugs.. I never had a smartphone which worked as flawless as the GS (and this isn't my first phone )
batteries and external battery wall chargers are fineally on ebay even though they show wrong battery a8 in the pict.. hopefully the are correct battery.
i've bought two batteries off ebay weren't that good on svc life -
one was complete junk - wouldn't fit unless i forced it and then the phone displayed an error msg
i've come to the conclusion electronic items (especially memory cards) are best not sourced on ebay
that review that engadget.com had about aftermarket batteries, really about the extra capacity batteries that ended up demonstrating that only the really oversized (ie double capacity batteries) even came close to their state mah rating, ended up suggesting the OEM batteries are the best way to go

Dense? You said this on the title which I assume is your question, but can't tell cause of your grammar, "damnit where are the spare batteries and wall chargers already." How the hell was I suppose to know that you wanted a external battery charger from that writing. Learn to write so others can understand what you are saying. Nothing in your question indicated an external battery charger. Just spare batteries and a wall charger. Sorry for not being psychic.
i see a lot of 1500mAh batteries on ebay, but the feedbacks from the sellers sounds like they are dogdgy, also the wall chargers looks horrible it's supposed to be a universar charger, but darn, those thing looks scary, i don't want a battery to blow up mid charge.
anyone find a trusty spare battery and charger caddles yet?

Apparantly some accessories are in optus shops now (I haven't personally checked, but someone on whirlpool mentioned they got a case).
Online aswell, although techbuy seems a little cheaper and has more range.

Cheap.... tempting, but do you get what you pay for? I've never had good experiences with fake/unoffiical batteries.

Decent Charger Recomendations (UK)

Hey,
My charger data cable is literally broken, so I need something to charge my Desire with. Thing is, the market is scattered with them, and I've heard different things about you have to buy the right thing etc (cheap chargers damage the phone, the cable cant carry enough power, and that) so I thought before I spend my money I'll ask if anyone can recomend something?
Ideally I'd like a single charger unit, so no detachable cable and a long thing charger cable.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
any original branded charger. my recom to you is any genuine blackberry charger. you can pick them up brand new cheap eg. under £5 off ebay. Nokia chargers with microusb ends are also good. i have both and work perfectly on my nexus one.
Honestly, It doesn't matter which charger you use, as long as it has a USB port to it, you'll be fine. Don't waste your money buying a genuine one which can cost up to 60$. Instead, just head out and purchase a simple one for 10$ max.
Yep as above any USB charger will do just make sure its rated at 5v - 1A this will lead to quickest charging times. I use a nokia one as I lost my original on holiday.

Amsterdam: where to buy charger?

About to board a plane to Amsterdam and just realized I left my charger and cable at home Can any of our friends from the Netherlands suggest where I might be able to buy one when I get there?

You'd have to look for a TF201, 300 or 101 charger, because the TF700 isn't sold here anymore. All chargers work fine on a 700, though. Or a USB charger with a 15V output. But those are even harder to come by.
Try looking in Media Markt or Saturn. (You can't miss there stores, they're huge (by european terms.. They're the world's second largest after Best Buy.) I'm not sure if they're sold separately, though.
Your original charger wouldn't have worked anyway; we use entirely different power sockets than the US, in both shape and power. 220-240 Volts as opposed to the US's 110-120 Volts. It would not have fitted, and fried your charger. Keep this in mind for everything you bring!
For pretty much all other devices (phone, etc) you can buy a cheap 10 euro USB charger at Mediamarkt or Saturn (Look for the brand Hama, it's reliable.). These plug into the power outlet, and accept all USB cables (regardless of country and brand of origin.). Alternatively you could look for a USA-to-EU converter plug. (might be cheaper) Not that laptop chargers will also not fit into the socket, so you may need a converter plug for those as well if you bring one.
If MM or Saturn doesn't sell the converter plugs, you can try asking at the VVV, (The Tourist Office, it's at the main train station. You may want to stop by there anyhow if this is your first time, since if you're planning to use public transport you'll need a Chipcard for it (We got rid of paper cards a few years ago). They can tell you where to go for that.) the ANWB store (ANWB is our national travellers union, simply put.) or a camping store. They should be able to help you, or at least point you in the right direction.
So in my wanders (awesome city BTW, I found it almost entirely by accident) a man in a camera shop suggested paradigit computers and sure enough they had one. Also, all modern (like every item I own) including my US and the Amsterdam chargers for the tf201 are"auto ranging" meaning they can use either 110-240v ac at 50-60 hz. I brought the"prong adapter" and I work with electronics so I check everything first (except my surge protector, whoops, it's OK it only blew the surge protector and the fuse) but literally every other device I have is 110-240, with the physical prong adapter of course

Paradigit still exists? I thought it went bankrupt last year... Oh well. At least you found one

Fast Charging !!!

Hi all,
So I am employed at a hotel and over the past few years we have accumulated a nice bucket of phone chargers that no one has come back to grab or called for. The other day I needed a charger so I dipped my hand in the bucket and pulled out a beat-up Amazon Kindle 9W PowerFast Charger with the original 5 foot cable that it came with. The damn thing charges my S4 so fast that I could blow my nose and come back and I'll have gained 5% so quickly. But since the cable's beat up I know it won't last.
Anyways, since I know the charger will die and my wonderful charging lifestyle will soon slip away, instead of just buying a new amazon charger, I'd like to see which other cable and A/C adapter combo would work the same if not better, especially since I have the supplies. Buuuut I don't wanna waste 472859 hours trying out all the possible combos to see the results.
TL;DR
Is there any way to simply look at a USB cable and distinguish which wattage and output level A/C adapter I should pair it with for the best results? Thanks for any input.
