I don't see how this is true if it hasn't even been announced yet, much less released.

Reviewers are never happy. It is a freaking sweet, sweet, phone. Faster than droid bionic and slightly slower than SII.

1. It hasn't been announced or released yet, as stated above.
2. It's going to be available for multiple carriers, so processors/GPUs/radios will vary (ex: The SGS-II on T-Mobile has the OMAP, rather than Exynos because the Exynos SOC is incompatible with T-Mobiles 42Mbps HSPA+ modem).
3. See #1
Any "details" at this point are pure speculation until tonight's announcement.

The Prime's biggest selling point is not actually the hardware, but the software(for once).
Let's just hope the AMOLED HD isn't a letdown. I heard it's going to be pentile, and we all know how ****ty that looks(Bionic)

after watching the broadcast i think that ICS is cool but the phone is just basic run of the mill crap other than the screen and the ram... i suspect that the htc vigor will be a better phone and will have less flaws than the samsung devices

mannnnn at least i better see an 8mp cam in there since we might not see the 1.5ghz.

It's 5mp, but mp aren't everything. The camera is supposedly extremely good, much better than the Droid Charge.

Samsung only flaw is laggy ass TW launcher...this Samsung phone will be pure google...so in reality it should have less flaws then the HTC Vigor which no doubt will come with sense (which I do miss)

Pentile at 720p (Galaxy Nexus) is not going to be as noticeable as pentile at qHD (Droid Bionic).
Honestly, even with my relatively extreme far-sightedness and high visual acuity (if I sit closer than the halfway mark in a digital theater, I can clearly see the individual pixels on screen), the pentile SAMOLED screens don't bother me one bit. I could see it on my Fascinate, but it wasn't a problem for me.

Actually I think the charge's biggest flaw is the RAM. Second would be the outdated piece of crap launcher, but it would still run smoothly with more RAM.

It could certainly use a bit more RAM. 512MB available would be great. At least we got 45MB more available as of EP1W.
The launcher doesn't bother me much. I don't really like any of the manufacturer's launcers, so that's the first thing I replace.

I agree 100% that megapixels don't mean much in a camera phone but the Charge has a fantastic camera (as far as phones go), I doubt it will be "much better than the Droid Charge"

Not +, just SAMOLED HD. The plus refers to the subpixel arrangement. + is standard RGB, where the regular is pentile.
In this case, I think most people will barely notice the pentile, if at all with the 720p screen (316ppi, just short of iPhone's).

Pentile will always look different than a screen using a normal sub-pixel layout, and it will always bother some people.

Indeed, there is always going to be a contingent that will ***** about it constantly.

Wait you are trading G2 for MT4G? WTF? are you crazy? Also NS is nothing special other than having SGX540 and SAMOLED. Far as SGX540 goes its slightly better than AMD Z460 regardless of what the Hummingbird fanboys want you to think. Far as performance goes has that POS device able to play full 720p videos yet? I just find it odd a phone that can score (via leak) 4000+ on quadrant with TrinityOC kernel can't even play video feed which says alot as synthetic score never translates in to real world performance. I mean only thing I hear people talk about when they say NS is THE update directly from Google. So? thats why we have AOSP and we get it better than official stock in month or two full working port.
Welcome to the nexus s family bro u will love it!!!

The myTouch 4G's huge advantage in RAM alone makes it a better phone than the Nexus S. With phone's like the Atrix now released (1GB RAM), the Nexus S' small 512MB RAM makes it seem ancient. I'll take the MT4G's 768.

Ya I didn't want to start Hummingbird SoC vs Snapdragon SoC war so I let that go but the fact is regardless of the synthetic benchmark the NS fanboy are so fond of MT4G is superior and no the POS SGX540 has nothing to do with it as it won't even be factor. With ext of 2GS and 768mb DDR in MT4G it will out do NS clock per clock. Far as Atrix goes yeah its using 1GB RAM but its DDR2 in this case as with higher latency with dual bandwidth is same as DDR1 as I thoroughly covered on AF forum. MT4G is better than NS regardless of what these fanboys tell you these are the same people who rely on Google for updates lol which says enough.
Mistake in two ways... Especially trading for g2...

No disrespect, but I was playing with the Nexus S at Best Buy last week and was actually laughing out loud! All I could think of was it was a re-badged Galaxy S phone (which I did own).
I also have to agree on the choice being bad, I have a Nexus One, Nexus S, and the MT4G, there are only two things I miss about the Nexus S that the MT4G doesn't have, I loved the screen, and the weight.
The MT4G has a better camera, its faster (OC'd to 1.5ghz right now), compared to the NS 1.3), the ram (even if its only a bit more).

That's because some of us actually has deep history in this fiasco that you can't even begin to comprehend. I mean when you are correct and have actual data to prove it regardless of the delusional placebo effect faced by 90% of the Hummingbird fanboys.
Then again its not your fault you properly use your phone for some girly chitchat, but some of us actually has MT4G connected to a cluster making it one of the vNodes thus able to swift and swing proc task via wifi taking the whole mobile computing to the next level.

LG typically makes mediocre phones at best, at least in my experience.

this phone has been widely anticipated and score higher benchmarks than the Galaxy S II so I'm sure it'll have a large following and therefore more development. As for the screen, the only thing I know is that its a 4" WVGA. Some other features include:

-1.3MP FFC
-Camera Flash
-FM Radio
-4G Speeds
-Dual core Nvidia Tegra 1GHz
-DTS Ultra Mobile
-8GB of internal memory

Is the LG G2X worth to upgrade to from a Samsung Vibrant

I have a Vibrant w/ CM7 on it. Was wondering if this phone is worth the upgrade. I love the screen on the Vibrant, and know this is a bit of a downgrade, but everything else just seems so worth it. And yes i would be putting CM7 on this as well.

Definitely worth the upgrade. Only thing the Vibrant has over this phone is the Super Amoled. The G2x has a faster processor, 1080p Video recording, front facing camera, 8 megapixel camera, 4g (feels way faster than my myTouch 4g and G2x) one of the loudest speakers I've heard on a smartphone and I've owned numerous of smartphone's (Nexus One, Nexus S, myTouch 4g, G2, Vibrant, HD7 etc.). The screen has a nice curve around the edge that feels so good when swiping across pages, pictures etc. The issues this phone has is mainly software based since Gingerbread isn't intended for dual core. ICE CREAM SANDWICH should fix this issue if we will ever get an official release from LG. If not there's always XDA devs that will be more than willing to bring this update to the G2x.

Not to argue, but my reason behind saying gingerbread isn't optimized is that when Google created gingerbread there was no dual core around. The software had single core in mind. G2x users are still experiencing random reboots, but not as frequent as before.

Because the gb update is still ****!!! Cmon I think there even saying T-Mobile pulled the update to fix some bugs and gb is more optimized for dual core then froyo is what I was getting at. Dude gb is definitely good for dual core especially if optimized rite and all the bugs are worked out u can manage ur apps better and gb has a built in task killer if u choose to use it and I/0 is better. Oh and better battery management, idk I would say gb bug free is definitely great for dual core phones look at the sgs 2
Hands down a major upgrade!! I've had a mint vibrant sitting around the whole time I've had a G2x, and never have seriously considered using it during the trials and tribulations with the G2x. The GPS is all but unusable, and while the screen is very contrasty, saturated and bright, it's also grainy, not very sharp for the resolution specs. I prefer the sharpness and clarity of the G2x IPS LCD.
I ended up getting a second G2x for testing/hacking and sold the Vibrant. A good phone, but the useless GPS was completely unacceptable.

Wait for the Samsung Galaxy S II to appear in the US. I hear it's coming August. I have it now, bought out from over seas though. You can buy it from overseas and use At & t for using the 3G/4G speeds. And AT&T has a $50 unlimited talk, text, and data. Galaxy S II doesn't show up as a smartphone so you don't have to pay extra for data plan.

That said sold the vibrant and got a g2x for my wife....
I was gonna wait for a SGSII Varient, or the Hercules, but i just didnt feel like waiting for the SGSII, and the Hercules screen is probably going to be too big. So i went out and bought it.
Gonna root and put CM7 on it. Hope its worth it!
Thanks everyone!
Its definitely worth it u will be happy your video camera will do 30 fps. , u will still have screenshot, just hold power down u will see the menu, cm increased data speeds, fixed battery issues, there's touch to focus for the camera, alot of nice **** that cm has incorporated into our phone download the latest nightly it is very stable and more stable then rc1 plus more stuff has been incorporated since rc1. Oh and we have voodoo sound for the g2x which is sick just flash fauxs kernel I think he's the only one with the loading module in his kernel, and we also have tons of roms to choose from if u ain't feeling cm, I love my phone with cm tho, the g2x is the best phone state side

That does not mean anything. It is also subject to carrier approval and I don't see Verizon allowing that.
Razr? LOLNO. People will buy that just for the RAZR brand name.

Eh? It means exactly what it says: Motorola will start to unlock bootloaders on future devices.
And Verizon won't allow it? Considering most of Verizon's non-Motorola phones already have unlocked bootloaders, and Verizon's Motorola Xoom has an unlockable bootloader already, that statement makes make no sense whatsoever.

Eh, I'm still not sold on this Motorola Spyder/RAZR's qHD Super Amoled screen. For one, I thought Super Amoled was exclusive to Samsung. Secondly, I thought Super Amoled uses pentile matrix tech in its display.

SAMOLED has been exclusive to samsung only because of limited production. They have been increasing production and appear ready to supply other manufacturers.
Yes the SAMOLED display on the galaxy s is pentile. The SAMOLED+ is not. I guess we will have to wait and see for this qHD. It has been reported that SAMOLED HD coming in the galaxy nexus is also pentile.

Now that they've managed to fix some of the issues that led them to the pentile AMOLED and SAMOLED, I'd be surprised if the RAZR's screen isn't a new variant of SAMOLED+ (SAMOLEDHD+? The names are getting rather ridiculous).
I like the idea of dual HD cameras.
Things are going to be really interesting for me once my NE2 (last one!) rolls around in May.
SAMOLED isn't exclusive to Samsung, it just that they couldn't produce it quick enough.
Now that they've found a way to produce SAMOLED and SAMOLED+ quicker, they've ramped up production to start selling to other manufacturers.
Although, even if the phone is qHD, it's still PENTILE, which looked HORRIBLE on my Vibrant, so I wouldn't get it unless it has SAMOLED+ (which I think Samsung won't sell yet since they need it for their own phones, like the SGS2).
Hopefully it has all the kind of specs I like, because no Moto phones have looked appealing to me for a few months.

Pentile at qHD will look quite different than pentile at 800x480. Personally, on my Fascinate, I noticed it, but it wasn't enough to bother me. At qHD, I'd be surprised if it bothered me, as well.

HTC vs. Samsung when it comes to Nexus Phones...

Hi,
I have published some thoughts regarding the Nexus One vs. Nexus S and how the manufacturers handled the job. Would be great if you could give me feedback with your thoughts.
Which manufacturer can create the best Nexus experience?
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2011/...acturer-should-deliver-the-next-google-phone/
Ok, I'm not quite happy with what you've said...
Nexus one vs nexus s hardware.
Both are using different hardware. N1 using Qualcomm and ns using arm. If you compare both of them thoroughly, arm so much is better than Qualcomm. E.g. Fast, low battery usage.
Compare hardware and software isn't enough. You should compare camera, lens, video, screen colours, etc.

I skimmed thru it... one flaw the nexus S has is Google Maps... when on the road I test both phones and surely enough Nexus One Was Always Connected.. have them both On AT&T

good write up! nexus s is more secksy
Cool write up but I strongly disagree on the super amoled vs super LCD. I think samoled looks much much better than any LCD technology out there. And most nexus s users here would agree

You can't be serious.
The wolfson DAC in our Samsung phones are the highest quality sound processors available in any phone.
Samsung is my new favorite phone manufacturer. HTC designs seem so played out these days. The Nexus S is still the sleekest phone on the market.
I wish I could see Johnny Cash holding a Nexus S. Black suit, shirt and phone.

Um...... Both companies use ARM based processors. In fact, every processor in every Android phone is ARM based. What you could say is that Samsung makes a better ARM processor than htc.

While i have not ever handled a nexus one personally. I have however spent quite a lot of time with the HTC desire, which is more or less identical to the nexus one.
In terms of hardware, the nexus s is overall superior on paper and in practise. The 540 gpu in the nexus s is far more powerful than the adreno in the nexus one/desire.
The hummingbird in the nexus s again gives more performance than the first generation snapdragon in the nexus one. Both got good cameras in my opinion.
In terms of sound and music, i think the Samsung nexus s has the best audio output I've ever experienced as an mp3 player. With voodoo control the audio is amazing. No other word to use. Try it and see.
Build quality comes down to preference i think. Both use somewhat different materials. I like both.
When it comes to looks? No doubt in my mind...the nexus s is the most sexiest looking thing in the smartphone business. So God damn sexy its silly...lol
The display is again down to preference i suppose. But Super AMOLED is something real special. The colours are amazing again. With voodoo controls it gets even better with more customization. Just Wow. If i ever go to normal LCD displays again, how i will survive without super AMOLED i do not know. Its awesome.
Where the nexus one shines however is the inclusion of SD card input. That's the only real feature i wish the nexus s had. Also, although it has not been a problem for all the last 11 months I've had the handset, i do wish we had at least 1 gig of ram instead of the 512 mgb available.
Overall i think Samsung did a terrific job with the nexus s. Their hardware overall, and I'm not just speaking of Smartphones, are more often than not simply excellent. Quality through and through.

Everything else is fine, but I can't agree with this. Desire has very very bad camera in my opinion. Camera in Nexus S is not great, but it is way better.
The things you mentioned have been covered by a lot of reviews. I wanted to look from different angles.
Regarding hardware: I had the Nexus S and Nexus One side by side for some time. Both running gingerbread, and the Nexus S wasn't faster than the Nexus One. Only games are better and more fluid. I even had some instances where my Nexus S would freeze, never had such issues with the Nexus One.
In the end benchmarks don't tell anything, because the real life usage counts, and there is no big performance jump from Nexus One to Nexus S.

Yeah, the whole lcd vs. AMOLED issue is a matter of personal taste. Some people prefer AMOLED colors, others LCD clearness.
Since Samsung introduced super AMOLED plus (without Pentile matrix) the AMOLED screens have perfect text too. Finally no fuzzy text.

Well...I haven't really compared the cameras to a great extent. They both seemed fine and good enough cameras but i guess it stands to reason the nexus s would be better as it was released almost a year after the first nexus.

Hmm what's so special about the Nexus S hardware design? The Nexus One was really unique. Yes HTC used the Nexus One base for nearly any other phone, but at the time of the release there was no phone looking like the Nexus One.

Hardware specs are nearly identical, but the Nexus One has better design, trackball and the very cool charging contacts as well as noise reduction with the second mic. The chassis is also different.

I can confirm that the Nexus S performs much better with graphic intensive stuff like games. But on regular usage the Nexus One is not slower than the Nexus S. That surprised me as I was expecting the Nexus S to be generally more snappy.

Nexus S is feeling somewhat cheap. Especially the back, the front is quite cool. The Nexus One is heavier but also provides better haptics and feel IMHO.

I love the black on AMOLED and thanks to AMOLED plus pentile matrix is history (which was the biggest setback of AMOLED). I hope the Galaxy Nexus will sport super AMOLED plus.

I'm very happy with my Nexus S, but honestly I think HTC would create something with more uniqueness and character. Nexus S doesn't have innovative design, the Nexus One had.
Hmm... To design innovation...
Nexus One comes with a colored chassis, with physical buttons and colored trackball and deep, sunk LCD display.
Nexus S comes with fully black chassis with fully black LED display with unique curved display and white haptic feedback touchkeys.
