So two new upcoming phones :) - Verizon Droid Charge

The motorola razr and galaxy nexus. Which one! Different Crazy specs on both, why the front hd camera, and how can they make the razr so thin with 2 hd cameras! From the look of the release dates won't be far from each other

Eh, I'm still not sold on this Motorola Spyder/RAZR's qHD Super Amoled screen. For one, I thought Super Amoled was exclusive to Samsung. Secondly, I thought Super Amoled uses pentile matrix tech in its display.

This +1 Enough Said. If you're on these forums, steer clear of anything "Moto" unless you like the idea of minimal development.

That does not mean anything. It is also subject to carrier approval and I don't see Verizon allowing that.

Razr? LOLNO. People will buy that just for the RAZR brand name.

Eh? It means exactly what it says: Motorola will start to unlock bootloaders on future devices.
And Verizon won't allow it? Considering most of Verizon's non-Motorola phones already have unlocked bootloaders, and Verizon's Motorola Xoom has an unlockable bootloader already, that statement makes make no sense whatsoever.

SAMOLED has been exclusive to samsung only because of limited production. They have been increasing production and appear ready to supply other manufacturers.
Yes the SAMOLED display on the galaxy s is pentile. The SAMOLED+ is not. I guess we will have to wait and see for this qHD. It has been reported that SAMOLED HD coming in the galaxy nexus is also pentile.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk

Now that they've managed to fix some of the issues that led them to the pentile AMOLED and SAMOLED, I'd be surprised if the RAZR's screen isn't a new variant of SAMOLED+ (SAMOLEDHD+? The names are getting rather ridiculous).
I like the idea of dual HD cameras.
Things are going to be really interesting for me once my NE2 (last one!) rolls around in May.

SAMOLED isn't exclusive to Samsung, it just that they couldn't produce it quick enough.
Now that they've found a way to produce SAMOLED and SAMOLED+ quicker, they've ramped up production to start selling to other manufacturers.
Although, even if the phone is qHD, it's still PENTILE, which looked HORRIBLE on my Vibrant, so I wouldn't get it unless it has SAMOLED+ (which I think Samsung won't sell yet since they need it for their own phones, like the SGS2).
Hopefully it has all the kind of specs I like, because no Moto phones have looked appealing to me for a few months.

Pentile at qHD will look quite different than pentile at 800x480. Personally, on my Fascinate, I noticed it, but it wasn't enough to bother me. At qHD, I'd be surprised if it bothered me, as well.

Dont listen to this person. I have an Atrix with qHD and its great. It'll be a little more pixelated on the Droid X2 because of the larger screen but it should still look great.
I'm no expert at all but I heard the X2 has a completely different pixel arrangement and has pentile or something. There's a thread in the droid X forum

ok i think im sold..

samsung captivate display just blew me away and that phone is older then our mt4g's. Yea the mt4g owns the captivate in other areas but side 2 side while i was outside letting my kids play i couldnt read or see a damn thing on my mt4g compared to the captivates superior amoled display. Its just ridiculous and kinda embarrasing actually. I think my choice for the samsung hercules or galaxy s 2 if i go to att b4 merger happens just got easier. I love htc for there superior quality feel and looks of the phone but display while your outside plays a huge factor i think for most anyone considering a smartphone these days. If htc had amoled display i think i would be in heaven lol

actually i got a good display too and i just realized my brightness was set all the way down haha, but im still sold on amoled vs super lcd that the mt4g has. Even with brightness all the way up, side by side the amoled pwns the mt4g display wether its sunny or dark!

I had a friend with a nexus S tell me that my screen was sharper and clearer than his. Didnt make much sense to me seeing as I came from the Vibrant running the latest voodoo kernel. Not saying the MT4G screen isnt great but super amoled is the one of the best screens that I have ever seen.

I cant say i have anything against the hardware of the SG family, but since developement for those phones is kind of, well, shotty, i would NEVER buy a samsung android phone. i mean just look at the sick amount of roms we have to choose from here, then go to some of the SG phones' dev. forums. its a big difference.

Other than that it's identical except for the ffc and the faster connection. No flash though, which I thought was a little odd, and no internal storage, just the 16gb sdcard.

Um what? I just got 4.8 while on 3G. I'll test 4G sometime this week when I have it.
I don't like the high white point of S-AMOLED. Everything looks very blue. Plus I feel restricted to use only dark or predominately black backgrounds in order to conserve battery, and web browsing eats battery at a prodigious rate. All that white...
I did enjoy my Vibrant, which I had before my MT4G, mainly because it was a 4" screen, which is my sweet spot, and the SGS's wonderful Wolfson DAC. Sound quality was phenomenal on that phone.
It almost makes me want to pick up a Galaxy S 4G, but the lack of CyanogenMod/AOSP ROMs really does keep me on my Glacier.
Samsung is mopping up their mess they made with the vibrant(at least with developers) when they offered cyanogenmod and team members those free galaxy s 2 phones it was like hey were sorry please hack our phones and put custom roms on it. Thats a big step forward for a company like samsung to take and win over a community, especially with their superior displays and somewhat easier methods of unlocking their phones.

HTC vs. Samsung when it comes to Nexus Phones...

Hi,
I have published some thoughts regarding the Nexus One vs. Nexus S and how the manufacturers handled the job. Would be great if you could give me feedback with your thoughts.
Which manufacturer can create the best Nexus experience?
http://smartphoneblogging.com/2011/...acturer-should-deliver-the-next-google-phone/
Ok, I'm not quite happy with what you've said...
Nexus one vs nexus s hardware.
Both are using different hardware. N1 using Qualcomm and ns using arm. If you compare both of them thoroughly, arm so much is better than Qualcomm. E.g. Fast, low battery usage.
Compare hardware and software isn't enough. You should compare camera, lens, video, screen colours, etc.

The wolfson DAC in our Samsung phones are the highest quality sound processors available in any phone.

While i have not ever handled a nexus one personally. I have however spent quite a lot of time with the HTC desire, which is more or less identical to the nexus one.
In terms of hardware, the nexus s is overall superior on paper and in practise. The 540 gpu in the nexus s is far more powerful than the adreno in the nexus one/desire.
The hummingbird in the nexus s again gives more performance than the first generation snapdragon in the nexus one. Both got good cameras in my opinion.
In terms of sound and music, i think the Samsung nexus s has the best audio output I've ever experienced as an mp3 player. With voodoo control the audio is amazing. No other word to use. Try it and see.
Build quality comes down to preference i think. Both use somewhat different materials. I like both.
When it comes to looks? No doubt in my mind...the nexus s is the most sexiest looking thing in the smartphone business. So God damn sexy its silly...lol
The display is again down to preference i suppose. But Super AMOLED is something real special. The colours are amazing again. With voodoo controls it gets even better with more customization. Just Wow. If i ever go to normal LCD displays again, how i will survive without super AMOLED i do not know. Its awesome.
Where the nexus one shines however is the inclusion of SD card input. That's the only real feature i wish the nexus s had. Also, although it has not been a problem for all the last 11 months I've had the handset, i do wish we had at least 1 gig of ram instead of the 512 mgb available.
Overall i think Samsung did a terrific job with the nexus s. Their hardware overall, and I'm not just speaking of Smartphones, are more often than not simply excellent. Quality through and through.

Everything else is fine, but I can't agree with this. Desire has very very bad camera in my opinion. Camera in Nexus S is not great, but it is way better.
The things you mentioned have been covered by a lot of reviews. I wanted to look from different angles.
Regarding hardware: I had the Nexus S and Nexus One side by side for some time. Both running gingerbread, and the Nexus S wasn't faster than the Nexus One. Only games are better and more fluid. I even had some instances where my Nexus S would freeze, never had such issues with the Nexus One.
In the end benchmarks don't tell anything, because the real life usage counts, and there is no big performance jump from Nexus One to Nexus S.

Since Samsung introduced super AMOLED plus (without Pentile matrix) the AMOLED screens have perfect text too. Finally no fuzzy text.

Reviewers are never happy. It is a freaking sweet, sweet, phone. Faster than droid bionic and slightly slower than SII.
1. It hasn't been announced or released yet, as stated above.
2. It's going to be available for multiple carriers, so processors/GPUs/radios will vary (ex: The SGS-II on T-Mobile has the OMAP, rather than Exynos because the Exynos SOC is incompatible with T-Mobiles 42Mbps HSPA+ modem).
3. See #1
Any "details" at this point are pure speculation until tonight's announcement.
The Prime's biggest selling point is not actually the hardware, but the software(for once).
Let's just hope the AMOLED HD isn't a letdown. I heard it's going to be pentile, and we all know how ****ty that looks(Bionic)
after watching the broadcast i think that ICS is cool but the phone is just basic run of the mill crap other than the screen and the ram... i suspect that the htc vigor will be a better phone and will have less flaws than the samsung devices

Pentile at 720p (Galaxy Nexus) is not going to be as noticeable as pentile at qHD (Droid Bionic).
Honestly, even with my relatively extreme far-sightedness and high visual acuity (if I sit closer than the halfway mark in a digital theater, I can clearly see the individual pixels on screen), the pentile SAMOLED screens don't bother me one bit. I could see it on my Fascinate, but it wasn't a problem for me.

It could certainly use a bit more RAM. 512MB available would be great. At least we got 45MB more available as of EP1W.
The launcher doesn't bother me much. I don't really like any of the manufacturer's launcers, so that's the first thing I replace.

The Prime's biggest selling point is not actually the hardware, but the software(for once).
Let's just hope the AMOLED HD isn't a letdown. I heard it's going to be pentile, and we all know how ****ty that looks(Bionic)

I think I read on Gizmodo that the Galaxy Nexus has an HD Super Amoled Plus display.

Not +, just SAMOLED HD. The plus refers to the subpixel arrangement. + is standard RGB, where the regular is pentile.
In this case, I think most people will barely notice the pentile, if at all with the 720p screen (316ppi, just short of iPhone's).

Pentile will always look different than a screen using a normal sub-pixel layout, and it will always bother some people.
Indeed, there is always going to be a contingent that will ***** about it constantly.

Where is everyone getting that it will be pentile?

Oh man brother! im trying to make that same descision !!! Im thinking .. hmm ceramic, quad core, +++... or huge ol' georgous phantasy beast of a phone
Im curious to hear what other brothers are sayin' as well
I wordering how long it would take for someone to make a post about the SGS3 and HTC One X. Lmao. I have read in a lot of other forums and most are not happy with SGS3. From what I read it doesn't seem like it has a lot going for it other than a quad core and I doubt that it will be utilized that much. The nifty upgrades to the SGS3 can probably be ported to a device with like hardware. In my opinion, its barely better than the Note. All in all I would still pick the SGS3 over the HTC One X. That's just me though.
Get a Galaxy Note. Tehehehe

If you buy the international One X you'll get Tegra 3 and options of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB storage.
The ATT version runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 and has 16GB of storage with 12GB user accessible. The battery is not swappable and there is no microsd slot. Also, the bootloader is locked.
The ATT SGS3 variant is rumored to also run on the S4. If everything else remains the same, I think it's the better phone:
1) SuperAMOLED: at 1280x720 you will not notice its pentile.
2) Larger removable 2100mAh battery.
3) 16 GB internal storage with a microsd expansion slot.
Those 3 things are enough for me to decide on the SGS3.
I wrote off the One X when I first heard of the battery and microsd slot issue.
Screw those phones and get a Pantech Burst.

Well i have had 4 galaxy s2, I have had an htc one x and i have had a galaxy note.
The build quality on the Samsung`s is better than the htx one x, it`s screen is not attached to the body correctly it creaks and moves when pressed and the colours go crazy, I prefer the htc one x screen quality apart from the yellow spots, not a big fan of oled technology.
The Galaxy Note was my favorite, but i returned it as their is a problem with the video playback and other screen issues, a dame shame.

I have no idea.... the sg3 is ugly, (btw it should be the skyrocket hd ahem, look at the pics of them both). Honestly im thinking about the gnex, off contract it is 400 bucks here in the U.S. Idk though, if i can not get the gnex then the att one x is next, even though it has the horrible rooting stuff to it, and flashing roms can at the moment only be done through the computer. Then third sg3. I think all the options suck in a big way, maybe ill just keep my infuse for now until the Note 2 comes out not much later, that will be the epic phone killer.
I personally think Samsung is making by far the best android phones out there right now
I would definitely pick S3 for sure
We all have such different opinions but I don't see why u guys say the S3 is ugly, looks nice to me honestly... I was pulling for the One-X until I saw the s3 and watched the videos.

I gave the one X a spin @ my local at&t store, it was phenomenal. The screen was gorgeous and the UI was so fluid.

Get One-X
I think Galaxy S3 is ugly as well and the pen-tile screen isn't appetizing. One X have this brilliant real hi-dpi screen that provides crisp image, not pen-tile. iPhone 4S is not Super Amoled as well but I would still prefer crisp screen.
And I don't see how quad-core and dual-core(assuming it's US version) would make a big difference they're both enough. I bet less than 1% of the time you would notice the significant difference. And quad-core probably drains more battery.
I love my infuse, too. As we have ICS I'm not thinking of changing it in a year.

If the one x can prove to me these two things: the build quality is better then the international one x and the bootloader gets fricken unlocked soon then i will get the one x. I would still use my infuse for the heavy tasks like listening to music, and being my "school" phone because i need the extra storage, not some cloud stuff i can access that eats my data plan tremendously.

Hello low quality streams.
Thinking out loud, does it have that usb-otg or whatever its called?
Doesn't solve streaming but helps with no SD card?

Waiting for note prices to drop enough to get one, It may have ATT ICS by that time.
