hello,
I have a SAMSUNG EPIC 4G TOUCH, it is rooted with zedomax v3, which includes CWM, and is running gingerbread 2.3.4
I read last night that you can get rid of the camera shutter sound by deleting "camera_click.ogg" and all related files so i deleted the file i just mentioned and "camera_click_short.ogg." At first my phone wouldnt let me delete the files because they were read only...using root explorer I changed the permissions and deleted the files...when I rebooted my phone my phone got stuck in bootloop...
my questions are 1) how do I resolve this and 2) I found the files i deleted online and downloaded them...how do I put them on my phone when it is stuck in bootloop?
thank you and all fast replies are appreciated
this really should not have caused a bootloop, any nandroid backups to restore to?
also try fixing permissions if possible from recovery.
my best guess, is try to mount device from recovery and push .ogg file via ADB ?
adb from bootloop?
how do you run adb from bootloop...i used adb once before but i did it through adb wireless connection back when my phone wasnt looping...how does one push a file through using recovery?...i also tried booting into cwm and installing the .zip for those files i mentioned using the install from sd card option but cwm couldnt find the files
i can boot into odin...this problem started when i was running zedomax v3...i thought going to back to the stock kernal would help...but unfortunatly it didnt...so then i installed zedomax v3 so i can have cwm...
does this sound like a bricked device to you are is there another more accurate term i should be using to widen my search peramaters for answers...
and if deleting those files wouldnt cause bootloop do you know what might??
also no backups to restore to...and how do i change permissions?
"extremely urgent like 911 emergency"
Nice title... your problem is not more important than any other problem people are asking help for in this forum.
Drop the pretentious title and you might get more help.
...do u feel better now
hey guy no need to be an ass..might not be urgent to u but its urgent to me...i got an idea...if ur not gunna suggest anything dont reply...thanks for wasting my time....hope u feel better now...

so i have a b90 tf101 with .21 which was previously rooted with vipermod. I wanted to avoid flashing cwm until ics came out to keep it as stock as possible for upgrade.
So i was trying to figure out ubuntu installer, and it wouldnt work for some reason, so i figured i might try to reinstall busybox. Anyway somewhere along the line my wifi stopped working it gets stuck on obtaining ip, then i tried factory reset, and wiping all data to fix that issue (didnt work). I then noticed i somehow lost my root access. so i tried rerooting and it keeps saying -exec 'system/bin/sh' failed: no such file or directory.
So i guess my best option is to try to get this thing flashed with stock firmware using stock recovery if possible, and would love an explanation of how to do that (searched for miles online and couldnt find anything about how to use the stock recovery) or if anyone has any other advice it would be much appreciated
Thanx

Well, if you still have cwm and can get to it...you're good. just download the super wipe lite file from the revolution hd thread...download a ROM such as revolution hd...put both in external sd...go to cwm recovery...flash the wipe script...then flash the rom.
Then just wait till ics is out...then flash a custom ics ROM...instead of trying to go stock again and messing things up...cause i bet that there will be a root stock ics rom within hours of release.
thats my problem i never installed cwm. cant i flash a stock rom using the stock recovery? do you know anything about the wifi issue? if not how can i get rid of superuser so i can rma?

After you have download the file from Asus, make sure to extract the files from within. Put it on the root of your sd card.
Power off the TF.
Push and hold Vol down plus power button
As soon as you see words scrolling at the top left corner
Push Vol up immediately (within 5 sec) to get into recovery mode.
Hopefully it read the update file and flash it.
sry hopefully this is the last question. when i extract the file there is a folder called asus inside it with another zip inside that and a blob with some files inside that. Which should i put on the sd card. and by sd card do you mean the internal memory or microsd.
thanks a million for the help
IIRC, after you extract there's an Asus folder, in that folder is an Update folder.
It's the zip inside the Update folder that need to go on the external micro sd card
as a side not the reason that the ubuntu installer id not work is that you have a b90 which it clearly states ubuntu does not work on becasue of sbk2
i could be wrong but im pretty sure it just visualizes ubuntu and doesnt actually install it. anyway thanks for all the help guys it turns out to flash the stock firmware you just put it in the microsd and press the tiny exclamation mark next to the clock on the stock rom. took me forever to figure out, but it fixed everything. I got wifi working, then re-rooted, then flashed team-rogue recover (thanks for that one baseballfanz) as rom manager said it wasnt compatible with tf101, but do u guys know if there is any way to get regular cwm, and finally flashed krakd.
Thanks again to everyone, and let me just say this is one of the most helpful forums i have ever been on

Not sure what the "regular cwm" is but you should be able to flash krakd rom with the team rouge cwm recovery.
The only other recovery I recommend would be Roach's 3.2.0.1 version.
Both version can be found here.

I was working fine, enjoying my new HTC One S with CM9 rom installed. Well the battery life wasnt the best on it, and i didnt install the custom kernel. So I looked for the custom kernel download(on my phone, not on my computer) and i found a .zip file. Well I thought that you could just download the kernel straight to my phone and open it up with "Rom Manager" which i did, it than said i needed to reboot the phone in recovery to continue the installation, so I did... it took me to recovery "to continue the installation" well than I looked away, looked backed down and it was black.... and i have tried powering up, booting into boot loader, booting into recover, and nothing... its just BLACK! nothing works, its literally useless ATM. I really messed up, is there anyway to fix this? Thanks in advanced!
----EDIT----
I think I accidentally flashed the kernel like i would normally flash a rom.... cause i downloaded the .zip file(directly to my phone, not using a computer), than i tapped the download and it asked me if i wanted to open it up with rom manager, so i did. and i think rom manager thought i was flashing a rom, when i wasnt, it was a kernel.... am i screwed? or is there anyway out of this?
Do you know the exact kernel you flashed--where did it come from
Some you need to extract and push
Assume you just tried to boot into bootloader thru phone buttons
Does your pc recognize your phone when plugged in, if so can you open a command window and try to access phone as in adb devices then adb reboot bootloader
assuming you are familiar with sdk adb/fastboot comands
otherwise i don't know what else to say--may be bad--sorry
Came from an XDA thread
Here is where it came from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1708676 from "sun90" (half way down the page "CM9 KERNEL remix edition.zip - [Click for QR Code] (5.53 MB, 9 views) ")
i downloaded that straight to my phone and opened it up with Rom Manager, which i think the app took it as a rom, and installed it like a rom even though it was not a rom. I just tried to access it through adb, it comes up with no devices my PC does recognize it when i plug it in though...
Ive tried to get into bootloader tons of times, it just stays black... :'(
Thanks for your answer!
You flashed a galaxy s2 kernel on your one s? why would you ever think that was a smart thing to do?
Looking at the updater script in that zip it seems it wipes some partitions, the partitions on a SGS2 and the ONE S are different, so if that script accidentally wiped say the hboot partition, or some other critical-for-boot partition, you have a fully bricked phone.
For any devs that may know what partitions are what on the One S, the script wiped
mmcblk0p7, and wrote a zimage to mmcblk0p5
---EDIT---
Normally this is a cwm flashable zip on the Samsung Galaxy S II, which is why rom manager flashed it, as it met all the requirements, the only issue is, it was not made for the ONE S and probably overwrote some important things.
I tried for hours and hours to fix the same issue on a friend's One S (same symptoms, not same cause) to no avail. I tried QPST and telnet and a ridiculous amount of things. Had to bring it to the store and get a new one.
Good luck, but I don't believe there's anything you can do to fix it.
Just answered your question in the help thread, Didnt see this thread too !
Im afraid its not looking good, I think your best bet would be to call your provider and blame it on an OTA update.
And hope for the best
Alright, thanks for the help!
Well it looks like i bricked my phone than.... I thought that CM9 was only on the One S, so I just looked for the CM9 kernel, which obviously was for the sg2, i feel like such a dumb ass now! haha well thanks for all the help guys! ill be heading to the t-mobile store today to blame it on a OTA:]
yeah, others wont agree with what your about to do but........
just act like a complete noob, dont mention anything about software / firmware / ROMs / bootloader etc ect
just say your phone made a noise, you selected update and it died lol
good luck--I know it is heartbreaking
not sure of your situation with carrier, but you could go thru Retention if needed
Hi peeps.
i'm very new to all this but sort of know the basics
i'm running on Axiom now but tried to flash cm10 but after install i got a black screen so had to do a restore.
Today i just flashed venom and after the instal process is done, i hear the start up music but nothing on the screen.
I have had 3 other roms on my phone and never had a problem!
these are the steps i do
download rom - place on sd
put phone in recovery
reset factory
reset cache
install from sd
when it finish's reboot
blank screen.
Am i missing something?
Any help would be great and i can't post on the thread because i'm a noob with less than 10 and dont want to spam my way to the 10 :silly:
you are missing a lot, like reading the OP page and following install instructions
you missed separate flash of boot image and wiping system plus data and caches
i wipe system 3x to be safe

I've got a mac
not sure what fastboot is.
I'll check out the link, and thank you very much for trying to help:good:
sorry i do know what fastboot is, yes can get in to it. but ive gone from CWM to teamwin recovery if i go in to the recovery section but that wont let me do anything because the mount. cant even load the phone up
I don't know Mac commands
My idea is to install htc drivers and set up fastboot/adb on pc--the info can be found in dev section on rooting
then open a command window and and boot into fastboot and flash a new recovery, maybe stock per the link, clear storage and try to get mounted
how did you unlock bootloader--
you will need to do alot of reading on adb/fastboot and flashing roms--first step is to have backups of rom and sdcard
since i don't the Mac commands to do fastboot, someone else will chime in at some point
you can alos go to the noob section in Q&A and resubmit your issue
someone will work you thru this, but in meantime study up on android sdk/fastboot/adb. a necessity to get out of these problems
you are not bricked, just need the info and right steps to get back on track

Use adb to push files from your computer to your phone.
Could you provide a link if it's not to much trouble I don't really know what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I am really sorry but i don't understand how to do any of these guides i can't download adb in the first guide because of a DNS failure. I've tried all of them and i just get so lost trying to figure out what i'm doing. I don't know if there's a way you could help me anymore but if you can't then it's okay.
I had this same problem. Am also illiterate when it comes to programming. I tried a factory reset and now it only comes up in CMR. I assumed it had uninstalled the factory and CMR interrupted it when it went to reinstall because it overrides the stock recovery mode. So I thought I was looking at a case of having no operating system on there at all and installing a ROM would help. I put the sdcard in a different phone so I could put the new ROM on there. Still doesn't work. The problem is that it appears all the ROMs need the original ROM on there to install over top of. Even after it says they are installed, it still only boots up in CMR.
Had I known rooting the phone would put CMR on there, I wouldn't have done it. I only rooted so I could do the android tether. Anybody been able to figure out his problem yet?
Ok im an admitted "noob" to the whole android/linux op but not technically challenged at all.. and i researched ALL the info availible before rooting my alltel samsung repp (sch-r680) supposedly its an american clone of an another "galaxy gio", think its an asian model or something... anyway, i made a very careless mistake and erased my backup and system files and now am stuck in a bootloop... i can still access download mode and clockwork recovery but ive tries to flash stock roms with odin, install zips and restore backups(that i copied to my device via usb)... but nothing works, all the nandroid.md5 files respond with mismatch errors, and when i try to flash with odin, either the file passes and is useless to fix the problem or it gives an error something like "odin multidownloader has developed an error and closing"... ive been looking into flashing with fastboot or adb, i have all the neccessary files just havent figured out how to successfully execute... oh, and im having problems running some executable files (.exe), even at the comand prompt,(which im not alll that fluent in command prompt syntax). i know this is not a very popular model, and my carrier store (alltel) is like the last one standing i think but the same model is marketed by us cellular... anyway, sorry for the extremely long message, but i wanted to provide as much info as possible, so if anyone can help id greatly appreciate it... ive been without my andoid for like a week now and seperation anxiety is starting to set in.. pls help!!!
Also, i cant mount my system in cwm or through adb... Dont know if thatll help find a solution but i know its a problem within itself...
i don't know if this questions have been asked 'coz there are more than 1000 pages of questions and to look on all of them means to lose prolly more than a week...
well,i did install that rom,T.R.I.D rom on my gt-s6310,thing is that now when i was trying to push the the other 2 files i got into a problem,i entered in the download mode and when i typed adb devices....suprise,no way to find my device conected to usb,i tryed many times and still nothing,so how can i push that file if the device is not seen ? i have to say that i didn't had that problem be4 installing that rom,so i will like to know if there i missed something or not,i do have installed all in my pc to can make those changes but for some reason i can't see my phone connected,i have in my phone those 2 options activated too...
the other problem i've found was when i did installed the new icons zip file thru the CWM as it said i have to do it and wow,my phone remained stuck on the recovery loop, every time i was rebooting, the phone was getting back in recovery...
i thank very much if someone can help me solve those 2 problems...
i do like very much that custom rom on my phone,it's pretty amazing.
or maybe is another way to push those files without the adb ? maybe using kitchen somehow ? i'm not an advanced user in those things, but maybe someone can explain it to me how to do it if can be done that way...
thank you very much for any help
