Why to get a Sensation? - HTC Sensation

Ok, as a current Desire user I'm getting more and more tempted to switch to a Sensation (and seeing as a lot of Desire devs are jumping ship to other devices).
Anyone care to give me some reasons for making the switch? I've had my trusty Desire for over 18 months but I'm getting itchy fingers to get something new? So...
Why get a Sensation?
Thanks.

I think that's a question for you to answer. Do you see any features in the Sensation that you want that are not available in the Desire?
If yes, are these features important enough for you to decide to switch phones?
If yes, switch. If no, don't.
Sensation is a good phone, but every phone has its quirks and every opinion is relative. Take all biased reviews and suggestions with several grains of salt. Good luck!

Desire has 768mb ram right? Frankly I don't see much benefit in upgrading. The ram makes more of a difference than the dual cores IMHO.

My glacier with the same amount of ram and oc to 1.3 runs faster than my sensation.

Because it looks great. Really. With a Casemate Tough case (which are fantastic) it feels really sturdy.

I would wait until the nexus comes out before deciding, that way you won't be kick yourself later when u realize u like it better than the Sensation.
The reason I love the Sensation is because of the resolution and speed. And it works the way I want it to.

nope. Desire has 576mb
the newer htc models have 768mb.
I would upgrade, especially as you can get a Sensation XE (newer + better) with a contract for a total of:
£252!
heck of a deal, i'd say

I had the desire before I recently upgraded to the sensation. I've had the sensation for 6 weeks now.
Reasons to upgrade:
Larger screen 4.3 inches
Dual core processor
768mb of ram
1gb of app memory
Sense 3.0 interface
8 megapixel camera with dual led flash
1080p video recording
Noise canceling mic for phone calls
Up to 14.4 Mbps download speeds
Front facing camera for video calls

In my opinion, yes.
My Vibrant always ran slower than my glacier, even when both have identical cm7 setups and oc. Ram was the missing link.
My glacier with oc runs better than sensation without, even though the glacier is only a single core.
Both glacier and sensation have 768mb ram.

I upgraded to sensation because the physical buttons on my desire started to get loose and weren't responsive. Very happy with it so far, mostly notice the much bigger screen (like a pocket tablet) and sense 3.0. Build quality is very sturdy and design is beautiful/minimal, exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend it if you have the cash.

Totally agree but I guess at least it has some sort of front camera.

wait.
my advice is to wait if you can. The Sensation is limited. Its good for now, but with Ice cream sandwich coming soon HTC is going to put the Sensation and the Amaze in its rear view (if you are a T-mo customer). I was going to get the Amaze in march, but what is the point? Even the XE is a gimmick.
You don't want to wait for HTC to hand out the ICS upgrades either. Besides, the industry standard 1 gig RAM is not in the sensation and the internal storage is poor. There will be a phone that is up to par (with ICS) from HTC by April.

Meh... waste of money IMHO. Gonna wait for the next nexus or quad cores, if the nexus isn't one, when they come out in Jan or Feb.
Sent from my Google Nexus 12! yup I'm from the future
When the Quad Cores come out I will have one of those as well. You only have one life... Why not live it to its Fullest Potential. I have 2 MT4G's, but they are in the drawer, why because the Sensation is Superior to the Glacier Hands Down. I am NOT saying the Glacier is bad at ALL it is also a great device. Peace...
When htc delivers a phone that gives more then 1gb of storage space for apps/games they might have me looking their way, sensation might be slightly better then mt4g in some aspects but not to upgrade from. Nothings set in stone yet but it looks like samsung is in the lead to make the prime, tho im hoping htc gives us that 28nm 1.8ghz cpu and at least 16 gb storage space if samsung doesn't make the next nexus.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Meh... Ill hang on to the Glacier for a bit longer, the Sensation is nice but i had an EVO 3D and as awesome as it is, htc always seems to always be one step behind the competition in one way or another; washed out screens, greedy internal storage, poor camera, underperforming CPU/GPU compared to competition, imo the second gen Snapdragon was their best one, their dual core pales in comparison to exynos and tegra 2 in real world use, never mind how it looks on paper (async was a bad idea imo)
Glacier as of today has the best balance of everything i currently need (solid build, good cpu/gpu, 4G, dedicated camera button and flash, FFC) so i can wait till Q4 to see if the GS2, Hercules or maybe even a good WP7 Mango device can woo me to switch
Best of luck to all (sorry to ramble so much)

Gs4g is alright but you will run out of app storage if you like alot of apps, only has 344 MB free out of the box. That's like 700 MB less then sensation. And the gs4g screen does have a good screen but sensation is way better. The difference is darker colors are richer on gs4g, gs4g not dial core, gs4g is laggy even rooted with a custom rom, big step down from sensation I have to say. Personally I wouldn't trade. Sensation is a better phone and get a 8,16, or 32 gb SD card and throw ur music on it and that takes place of itouch. But its up to you.

The galaxy has an amoled display that is pretty much far superior to the one we have. The sensation just has a higher resolution. Although the amoled has a weird bluish tint to it. As far as software goes, the galaxy s ain't nothing unless you root it and throw ... Cm7 for example, on it. The graphics rendering is faster on galaxy as well. Sesation has better battery life and build quality.
As far as processor goes, people just got to stop buying into the while 1.5 ghz or 1.8ghz bs. Our sensation wouldn't be $h*t without faux's kernel. Plus, our phones being dual core and all don't mean much as well until android is written to fully take advantage of two cores. Hopefully android ice cream sandwich will do the trick.
Samsung has the worse software support on the planet, I came from an epic 4G, I know trust me. The sensation is better because of the awesome software our devs put out. Still a long way to go, but it gets better every day. I just can't wait for cm7 on this bad boy

galaxy s2

Is it worth getting. I never owned a Samsung phone but I'm considering it. I'm tied of htc and the craps quality jobs they do with their phones. The dust, the reception, death grip, sense slowing down the phone and also keeps reloading everytime I hit the hone screen.

The One X is too big.

I was thinking one S as well but like you said the low amount of storage has put me off it. I mean, the non-removable battery I could live with but only 16 gb's of storage....HTC, what are you thinking???
One X isn't a phone it doesn't fit in many pockets easily far a start.
Nice screen for movies and browsing but a little too impracticable for everyday life.
I go into the highlands in Scotland a lot what use is 25GB of dropbox if you can't access it.
A mobile device is for when your out and about we don't all live in London with permanent 3G and WiFi hotspots around every corner and that's when you want to access the content.
Have you tried streaming on a train or down the motorway in my experience you get crap connection speeds when moving at speed.

I absolutely agree with you. My concerns are the same. Everyone around me was impressed about this 25GB of storage with dropbox and I know for instance Three UK offer "all you can eat data" plan but they are the only one (as far as I know) and other carriers have their limit. And not to talk about still having gprs and edge connection in many area what I can't even use to fart on it... Anyway, brilliant phone is the One X but I still love my sensation and I'm sure I will sit on this phone till something similar will be released...

After seeing the specs of the EVO LTE and the European ONE X I was greatly displeased and turned off by the ONE S. EVERY nextgen flagship phone coming out seems to crush it spec wise.
given the fact that i have had multiple HTC phones I have no faith in their ability to make a battery that is sufficient for the phone it supports. So to embed a paltry battery like the one in the ONE S was an immediate deal killer. Then to find out about the memory too...it was not even a second thought.
As for blaming HTC, I have seen the light. The new EVO will be a beast. There is an on board 16 gig memory PLUS its expandable for an additional 32 gig. There is also a 2000 Ma battery if I am not mistaken. HTC "can" make a desireable phone, but T-mo has not required nor demanded a game-changer or a true flagship from them which is sad. Until t-mo stops slacking we will have to sit out cycles (like now) or switch to other brands.
I think I will be sticking with my Sensation until Q3 or Q4. So I won't regret any purchase because by that time all of the flasghip from every manufacturer has already been released. The sensation is still too powerful anyway.

Add a poll to this thread. It will make your decision easier.
I was also thinking about this before, the amaze has a better camera, 1GB RAM, and 16 GB internal memory. The only reason I kept my sensation is the bigger community and developer support. The amaze still has great support but the sensation's community is just bigger. If the 3 things above is enough of a reason for you to upgrade and don't mind having a wide variety of ROMs, go for it.
apperently the amaze also has deathgrip problems.
it has light leaking problems which isnt a big deal if you dont mind turning off the capacitive button light
but the worst of it all is that it has a terrible community
just go over to the amaze subforum and see what im talking about..
however, the benefits: bit more ram, wide-angle camera lens, bit louder loudspeaker.. i think thats it really..
I had that choice , I choose sensation. Glad I did because this community is awesome! Besides I love my sensation! Good luck in whatever your decision !
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I would say go with the amaze if the community was like this but seeing how its not just makes the phone suck. After all you can have the best phone ever but if it doesn't have a lot of support what's the point unless your a experienced developer.
