Did you try inserting "a SIM card not attached to your current provider (e.g if you have T-mob use an ATT SIM CARD) and turn on your phone?" (credit sanfranx415 post) edit: maybe try a different gsm carrier in the same country you reside.
From what I have read and understand different versions of busybox will work or are compatible for different things (maybe somebody will tell me if that is not accurate).
Here is a video that might help.
Good luck!
Try contacting t mobile and tell them your going overseas for a few months and want to take your phone with you and is there a way to unlock it so it can be used in another country.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
When you insert the sim card and power up the phone, as you unlock it it should give you a network lock screen that only lets you use the phone after inputting the unlock code.
I am getting an HTC One S that is locked to Orange UK. I'm not in the UK and I'm having a friend ship the phone to me. It is an S4.
This will be my frist Android device, so I'm a bit clueless. I plan on ultimately changing to stock EU firmware, rather than Orange firmware.
Can I change the firmware and remove the SIM lock (I assume simply changing the firmware won't do this?) without an Orange SIM? I have read the threads on how to remove the SIM lock so I'm confident that I can do it, I just don't know what functions can be accessed on the phone without a SIM having never had an Android device before.
I have an Orange uk One S now running trickDroid v7 & if you want to remove the Orange sim lock try this Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1693491

Thanks, I appreciate the reply.
I have been through that link, I just want to check if I can follow that process without having an Orange SIM in the phone at the time. I'm not sure what parts of the phone can be accessed without a SIM in it.
I've not tryed the sim unlock as yet but use without a sim in connect to play store via wireless will work most of the process is done via the app or cmd prompt so should be workable!

Great, that answers my question then, thanks!
No you don't need an Orange SIM card. The SIM unlock procedure actually required you have a SIM from a different provider so you're good to go with what ever SIM you have. Once you insert a SIM card other than Orange SIM, it will ask for a SIM unlock code.
ok so heres the deal. i have a lg spectrum (lg vs920) i have rooted and installed a custom rom. Now that i have done this am i able to use any sim card in it? i would like to go with simple mobile but dont know if i have to do anything else.
thanks for any help
I think SIM Lock is something else. I think it still has to be removed, although now that you're root, it is likely to be trivial.
Why don't you check first, by trying to boot with a SIM card from another provider (active one). If locked, it will ask you to enter a "subsidy code".
Hello, I got the phone from a week, but I managed to lock the second slot, and when I put a sim card in, it asks for network unlock sim code.
I know there are a lot ot threads here, but I didn't found something that works for this model. I can use ADB, Terminal, my phone is rooted, so if you give me a clues how to unlock it, I will be very grateful.
Hi,
I have a Samsung S8+ which I bought unlocked to any network, I have used it on EE and Vodafone. I had rooted the phone, flashed different roms etc no problem. After I got my new phone, I tried to get the sim out of the S8+ and the tray was stuck, left with no choice I forced it out but this broke the sim card reader as it wouldn't read any SD or Sim.
I flashed a stock 9.0 pie UK version (Unlocked) to the phone through Odin and got the sim card tray replaced, now it reads SD cards and my sim but it says network locked and is asking for the NUC code, the phone was unlocked before and now it isnt. I've contacted Vodafone for a NUC code but the code isn't working (says incorrect code), I've tried flashing stock 8.0 too, also not working and still asking for the NUC. Strangely, it isn't working on either EE or Vodafone Sims now.
Could the sim card tray being replaced effect this? Is it the software flashed through Odin?
Any help will be appriciated please.
Thanks
Sam
Is it possible not only the SIM tray but the whole motherboard was replaced? It would make perfect sense then. Check whether your IMEI and S/N match what was on the box the phone came in.

It is strange normally sim unlocks are not undone by odin flashing. Sim unlocks lie in a non flashed partition
