On the Tasker user guide page, a screen brightness slider is called up via a widget. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to do this. I know I can create a task that does a Query Action for Screen Brightness. However, when I run this task, a bunch of other Tasker related items are brought up along with the brightness slider. Is there a way to just access the brightness slider?
For posterity:
Tasker -> Query Action
within the Query Action's optional "Action" field put "Display Brightness"
To answer your question, no, you get all the other functions too. You're looking at an old Tasker screen shot there

Hello,
It is pretty annoying to adjust the Brightness of the Touch Cruise.
Is there a Program that adjust the Brightness automatically?
Or maybe by a Day / Night Schedule.
Or at least toggling the brightness by pushing a button (camera for example).
Maybe you deleted the icon from your launcher tab, but there is a shortcut you can add back that'll cycle through 4 different brighness levels. I don't see this as an option for actual assignment to a hardware button though...
There are applications out there that allow you to map brightness control to a button. MVBacklight or something like that. Try searching in the forums you'll find it.
Maybe combine it with those apps from tytnguy which are
able to start/toggle command line apps by cell location and/or
scheduled. But I think its a bit tricky...

Upgraded from ICS to Jellybean on my Samsung Galaxy S2 and notice the power setting widget is now gone.
What I really miss out of it was the Screen Timeout toggle whereby I could set the timing by toggling the time value.
I have checked the market to see what is available and so far I have found one that only turns timeout on/off and another is a shortcut to the Display Setting screen which I then have to select screen timeout then set which is too many steps.
Can any one suggest a good free widget?
First off, I have created a task that shows a scene for toggling Wi-Fi, data and sync on/off. The issue I'm having is, when I'm in an application, IE: YouTube, and want to switch Wi-Fi on/off, I drag my status bar down and click the toggles there, but once I'm back on my home screen and open my scene, the toggle will say the opposite. How do I get the toggles in the scene to adjust accordingly? Mind you, I'm somewhat of a novice with tasker and doing any sort of coding or variables is beyond my scope at the moment.
Also, as you can tell, I'm a scene junky. So I am making application menus that slide out and displays my favorite apps in a particular category. Now, I want to share it with people, but they may want some other apps to show up in that list. Is there any way to make my scene customizable by other users?
And finally, is there a way to use finger (swipe) gestures to open a scene rather than just the accelerometer? It opens scenes way too easily against my wishes.
I'm sure many of you have used and loved the ability to do simple gestures with the screen off and have some customization action occur. Does anyone know if there is any app/rom/kernel that allows you to make custom gestures to launch an app with the screen off, or at least has a lot of predefined gestures with the ability to launch an app? Specifically what I am trying to do is export tasker tasks as an app, and then use the screen-off gestures to launch that task for things like turning on/off/dimming smart lights around the home. It is obviously much more convenient to draw an 'O' on the phone and have lights turn on instead of unlocking the phone and drawing on an app like Gesture Locker.
If u already export your task into an app, u can simply go to settings, on the screen off gesture theres an option "draw O" and choose ur exported app. I did this to command turning on and off my yeelight in my bedroom
There is this app, which I do not own or have any affiliations with, that acts sort of like a filter that lowers the screen brightness instead of actually lowering it. I haven't really tested it fully, but it works perfectly on my s7 Edge.
And the best part is: there is no root required
All you have to do is to install the app, go to Settings - Accessibilty - Installed services - screen dimmer, and turn it on.
Just make sure that your actual brightness is at 100%, and you can change the brightness within the app, or with the shortcut in the notification bar.
Here is a link to the app:
