i had this issue with my old carrier as the signal was low
what signal strength are you getting?
you can check at settings>about phone>network
& also is your device rooted?
Try updating your radio to the latest version!

In my case it wasn't software problem. I change ear speaker with eBay one and now its perfect.

There is a thread here about volume being louder in the right speaker than in the left, so your problem might be related. I don't have either issue with my TF, though.
No for me both speakers are equaly loud but the right one is realy distorted, it sound like a blown up car speaker.

I can no longer hear any audio except through the ear piece when making calls. Have tried turn on/off and taking battery out. Any ideas?

so the phone speaker doesn't work either? how about headphones? We need a bit more detail to determine if it is a hardware or software issue.
I have found that the phone speaker works only during a call. But I have tried headphones and those don't work either. I can also sometimes hear my ringtone when I get a text. Also a freak thing happened, I had a song playing to see if the audio was working again for whatever reason and I got a text...instead of the ringtone playing it played the song for the duration of the ringtone.
Hi,
This is my first post after months of reading and waiting for the ICS RUU. I've installed it and no issues rose for me, just a strange behaviour with the headset I've always successfully used with my DS. Now when i have a phone call the mic part of the headset is not working, the person at the other end doesnt hear me, anyone has the same problem?
Thanks!

Here no headphones mic problem...(me too with official ICS ruu update).
i have no problem on that but what my problem after official ICS RUU i had a very low in-call volume the volume before i update it to official ICS is OK, but now i cant hear any call when the environment is a bit noisy. Had check my setting of the volume is "MAX".
Ive just tried again the stock headset (found it in the phone box) and mic works...funny I'm wondering why it doesn't catch the mic with the diddy beats, It's a metal connector and it worked fine on GB...It would be nice to know if there's a mic setting flag somewhere in Android when you plug in a headset...

Even I am facing headphone issue after ICS RUU upgrade. My headphone mic doesnt respond during call's. Someone pls can suggest..
Had a problem with my hands-free 's mic also, even before the RUU to ICS.
So I take it I might harmed the thing.
Yet, the ear-buds worked just fine and I was able to listen to radio and music.
Now, there is no radio or music coming from the hands-free set *or* any other headset I use.
At first, I thought it must be the jack hole. It could be destroyed somehow. Humidity, or something else.
But I tested them with a call, and they were working just fine.
(The incoming audio, anyway...)
So, there is not a hardware problem with it, or the headphones. (I wonder if there is any problem with the hands-free set, also...)
That leads us to the assumption that there is some kind of bug (or something) in the software part of the phone.
I would be curious to find out more, since the vast majority of my phone's SD card is filled with music and pod-casts.
Hi. Keeping to forum rules. Short but to the point. GO!
Have HTC Sensation XE (z715a). My first HTC phone. Android 4.0.3
The problem: The front speaker of the phone (that you place your ear to) does not produce perfectly clear audio of the callers voice when recieving phone calls. Often the audio has a distortion to it best described as vibrations (so a bit like someone speaking through a kazoo). When volume level is at 50% or below there is no problem. Above 50% it starts and of course it worst at 100% volume level. Quite annoying!
Returned the phone to the Telco for repair. They claim to have replaced the speaker however the audio distortion still occurs.
Is this a common problem with just Sensation phones? All HTC phones? Hence should I ask for a new replacement phone or is it just as likely to have this annoying quirk?
Many thanks in advance !
Few months ago I had the same problem. Buy speaker on ebay and change it, it is not dificult, really.

I read it could be the radio or ril that could cause this problem. I'm still searching for a fix for my Sensation on firmware 3.33 and viper Rom, sense 4+
It's a T-Mobile US device radio 11.24A.3504.31M
If anyone knows a repair other than a hardware replacement part please pm me.
So my cousin bought this phone yesterday and during his first phone call noticed that he could only hear the other end of the call thru headphones or speaker. Verizon replaced it without question and there was no issue there. Was just wondering if anybody else got a defective device.

My first replacement had a bad ear piece. Cracking when turned up during a call.
My volume is low on earpiece during calls. I can't hear much unless I am in a quiet room. In my car with road noise (New B'Mer not very loud) I can hardly here other party

If you're talking about using ur phone up to your ear, speaker by front camera, I would say replace it! Mine is very loud on full volume, honestly the loudest cell phone speaker I've ever had for the regular speaker, not talking about speaker phone here.
