How to improve pictures - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I for some reason cannot get a decent picture out of this thing. No matter how I adjust the ev settings, in any lighting, the pics always come out blurry. Example below

So what's the trick for better pics?

Look up camera apps in the market. Fxcamera and camera 360 and Vigenette are popular for good picture quality

That does look bad... It looks like you didn't auto-focus, have you tried that? I think it's a long press on the camera button in the standard app.
Of course make sure the Picture Size is set to 5MP (2560x1920) and set the quality to 'Super fine'.
For third party applications, Vignette is indeed a good way to go. Has many more options than the default camera application.
Greetz

1. most important! be sure to keep the back lens cover clean. one fingerprint can mean the difference of a good picture and a blurry one.
2. lighting. watch for good lighting.
3. motion. a moving object(or your movement) will translate into a blur.
nexus s pics, stock camera app.

i have vignette and get the same results

clean the lens cover with windex(glass cleaner). it looks like the lens cover is dirty/greasy. no app will give you better pictures, only you can control the quality of your pictures.

Long press the button for focus, release to take the picture.

Panoram photo?

Is there any program that you make a panoramic photo.
Marked a landmark in the picture and you have to follow it and that point is moving in one direction.
Like this http://www.panoman.net/
THANK YOU
Your camera should have a panoramic picture mode depending on your phone.
But this program is to make several successive images but not the only one, as

the one on your phone allows you to take several images and pieces them together, i'm not sure what you are asking
some camera apps don't have that option. you should find a software that can create a panoramic photo from a bunch of other photos.. i do that all the time with my G7 but i have an app suited only for canon cams.

Hi xda just a general question is it just me or does the camera's autofocus is pretty crap. When the I am about to.take a picture but before the picture is taken and the shutter button is pressed a little bit the image quality becomes amazing but when the picture is taken the quality sucks

Also the quality is the best when led is on

Image without flash
Sent from my XT720 using XDA App
From a purely "mechanics of photography" standpoint, the image with flash will have a much faster shutter speed while the picture without flash the shutter is open longer & more susceptible to to camera shake. What about a picture taken outside with good lighting & no flash? Does that produce an acceptable picture?
I will try that later

its the effect of a wide angle distortion lens. im sure searching "fish-eye" or "photo distortion" in the market will yield some results.

thanks for the name, i found fxcmera, but the picture quality sucks...thats the only one i found...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just a panarama(sp?) shot. That or a DSLR taking a wide angle shot with a high fps. A fish eye would be the opposite of that shot.
Middle object with a much more unzoomed feature than a zoomed in background

Naw a panorama is when you stitch multiple shots into one. The one posted in OP is just really bad wide angle distortion.

Selfie quality

You're beautiful and everyone knows it. That's why you take selfies. Rate this thread to express how the front-facing camera of the Huawei Nexus 6P performs. A higher rating indicates that the front camera produces fantastic results consistently.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I don't take many selfies, but this camera really shows how ugly i am.
No more for me!
Snap chat camera could be better though but thats more snapchat software.
Amazing selfie quality. The detail is amazing, and the wide angle lens is great for with friends/snapchat

I guess if you really needed to Casper is a good at fixing that.
For the vanilla experience, the stock camera app provides pretty good quality. Shame that you can't adjust, the exposure. But for the most part, I find the pictures to be really nice. There isn't much noise, especially when paired with HDR+.
The front cam is one of the best (or the best) ive ever seen.
I dont take selfies, but the cam is impressive.
...this is a thread?
Every time I take a picture with the front camera it has lines going through the picture, any ideas?

Pixel 4a HDR on/off

I'm looking for the simplest app that allows me to turn HDR on and off. That option is not on Android 12, it's always on.
I don't need an elaborate app that does a whole lot of things.

Better than stock gcam.. you can turn off hdr and turn on hdr+
Also lot of modification.
Oh nice...ty!
Will that apk replace the stock app, or just add to it? Will I lose the highlight and shadow sliders?
I tried Open Camera. It lets you use their HDR or turn it off. I found no difference at all between their normal and HDR pics.
Their pics were just about as good as the native app, which has sliders for highlights and shadows, for precisely dialing in the exposure.

Not at all, it's a 3rd party app and it won't replace the stock camera. Btw i even found better one. Here's the latest version link -https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-MWP/f/dl23/
U will find manual control there, but for manual control u need to turn on hdr++
