[Q] Where can i find Froyo 2.2.1? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hey guys where can i get the original froyo update from tmobile 2.2.1? really cant get use to some of the bugs with gingerbread , two people cant call me at the same time wifi signals are just horrible, the text message lay out is not the same, when you click on a text it does nothing, so where can i find this? Thanks !

Did you try searching on your own first?
If you want the original out-of-box stock, that would be KB5. Here's the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978836
If you want the updated KD1, you could update it through Samsung Kies Mini.
There's also custom Froyo 2.2.1 ROMs out as well.

Honestly, all of them are pretty good. It's just a matter of what you want to do with it.
I like ICBINB KD1 the most though. It has all the Froyo tweaks, so it makes everything simple. Get the Sweet ACID Theme by Bl4ckpheniX to make it look more awesome. It's practically the best theme, imo.

What rom in yalls opinions is the best?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I just went back to the ICBINB rom with my own custom UOT theme after trying the new gingerbread leak. GB was ok, but ICBINB has ALL the tweeks, and the UV bali kernal for awesome battery life and performance.
When more GB roms come out with tweeks, I'll flash back, but right now, Froyo is doing great for me with icbinb.
As with anything, it's all about preference...
I personally like ICBINB, as I don't use my phone as a music player much... If music via your phone is more you I'd suggest one the audiophile roms, for the sound tweaks that were incorporated in the rom.
Both off these TeamAcid roms have all the latest tweaks available and they're easy to flash, so you can test drive them all then pick the one that best suits you.
Hope this helps!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
ICBINB is the easiest ROM to flash here and also one of the best, because it already has all the tweaks built in there already.
Then again, if you want to play around with tweaks and stuff more, you can always flash the other ROMs, which are still wonderful.
Really any of them. Theyre all fantastic. Although i would have to say it would be ICBINB, Audiophile, Black Ice, Frost

I would say if you're new to flashing, stay away from Black Ice for a bit, lol. It is still the most difficult ROM to flash out of all anyways. I would say Bionix Frost is really the easiest though. It was the first one I flashed.
I dont know why everyone is getting these problems with Black Ice, i never had one and i loved frost but the white is a battery burner

Yup, I gotta agree with you on that. Black Ice gave me problems the first night, but after careful reading the next day, I flashed it perfectly. Unfortunately, I didn't like the dull look of it, so I went back to Bionix Frost right afterwards, LOL! Bionix Frost would be my second favorite ROM after ICBINB though.
I gotta say ICBINB has done the best for me. It is noob friendly(I'm a noob) and has all the latest tweaks and mods that you need. Also providing insane battery life and smoothness with little to no bugs. ICBINB, thanks to Team Acid, is the best choice at the moment in my opinion! My two cents yo!
My top roms I love;
Black Ice
Trigger 0.4 or 0.5
ICBINB
Audiophile
Of course Whitehawk's deodex kd1

if she is going to be far, then stock rom is best. If she ever has a problem with her phone, she can take it to the cell phone vendor to troubleshoot. if it has a custom ROM, they might not help her.
I'd say stick to stock KD1 rom with root and get titanium backup app, so she can uninstall bloatware and back up her apps.

thanks for your helpful reply.
I agree with you,its best to have stock rom for troubleshooting.
I will install stock rom .
In my experimentation,i found that undervolted bali kernel is giving me nice battery back up.
can i have stock kd1 with this kernel bali 3.3 undervolted.?
When I got this phone a few weeks ago I immediately flashed Black Ice, then went with AudioPhile, for FroYo roms those are the best IMO. Once the 2.3.4 leak came out I flashed that ran it until today with no issues. Flashed the Deodexed kg6 from Whitehawk today and it's been fine as well. Only reason I changed from the leak to this was I felt the urge to flash something new.

yes, if you have a rooted stock rom, you can install CWM recovery, and flash the bali kernel.

[Q]froyo theme to GB?

just wondering about the themes, pulldown menu, circle battery gauge, the blue alien contact and dial mods here.will they work or be kept working on the infuse if i flash to the GB beta rom(or future GB roms)?
will everything go back to stock form and whatever the ROM developers push with their ROM package?
im on the infused 1.5.3 with stock kernel. also wondering what kernel right now is best to match with my ROM?
thank you.

Most all of the user customizations will work with the Infuse v2 Beta
just like with the Infuse 1.53 but like any other customizations you will need to re-apply themes, wallpapers and any other stuff you have customized.
If you flash any custom roms at all you will not get the OTA GB or any other updates from AT&T unless you go back and reflash the Froyo stock rom first.
Hope this helps
Good luck!

Best Rom so far???

I want to know from your point of view guys, Who's rom is more complete and stable?? I like the octane 2x, but got some problems with it nothing mayor, but besides that great rom the other one i like is valhalla. and the stock 2.3.4 this are the ones im using, but i want to know if you guys think theres another one i should test on my phone.
I've been on Valhalla 1.3.2 since whitehawkx put it up, and I've had zero issues with the rom (save for weak gingerbread wifi, but that's not because of the customization of the rom).
I also like the almost stock theme of it, plus the MIUI lock screen is just my favorite.
Currently running octane. Came from Valhalla and may go back. Both are great roms. Can't go wrong either way really.

If you want a smooth Froyo ROM, you should just use ICBINB KD1. dsexton702 put every speed tweak (at the time) into that ROM.

+1 to that brother. Been running Valhalla 1.3.2 with honk's kj1 kernel since it was posted. Least issues i've had on any GB ROM. The MIUI lockscreen is by far my favorite..love the audio controls. Just an overall sweet ROM, very reliable. If you have to have froyo, I'd go with black ice / Bali 3.3 uv.

Looking for best Rom, Kernel and whatever. Priority Audio quality and stability

Hi,
Please don't burn me about a new post I've done a lot of phone research to get to the Infuse. The options for an "android development newb" are many. And not sure what a kernel and Rom is...Rom is the operating system right?
Basically looking for a stable/best operating system with priority in audio quality for headphones.
Ive read abit about the Voodoo for the wolfson chip in the Infuse. Read about a leaked version of Android 2.3.5 available but it may have some 'rainbow' effect?..
Basically trying to find the best rom, kernel and whatever, their are so many.
Thanks.
EDIT: Looking to use 'Voodoo control plus' app and 'Voodoo Screen Tuning' app so need compatible rom & kernel.
It really is going to be personal preference all the roms I have tried are pretty damn stable I have seen people really liking caty rom though prob try that first
Other popular one I used to see in google searches was MIUI, infused might be good, is it closer to stock ROM? Stock roms are probably safer ie not losing BT?
Interested in this [KERNEL]Community Kernel v8 - (7/17/11) - Voodoo sound v10
Catyrom and numas are infuse stock based roms like infused....everything works
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

So the opp could not use of of the other threads about the same thing?
E3D
samfirmware I997UCKI4 - Anything better/newer than this? No rainbow effect?
Did AT&T ever release official Gingerbread version?
UCKI4 is way old....we are up to UCKL2
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
So is ROM I997UCKL2 [2.3.6] stock, reliable, likely to work with apps?
EDIT want a good stock app not one messed with (not insult) Messed with could be improvement.
Umm yes...its stock infuse rom

Going from this download list; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293751
"ROM" in the download title indicates it's stock (from Samsung or AT&T) & the one that says ie "Stock UCKJ4 [Rooted, Deodexed, Busybox] [2.3.6]" is the stock rom with things done to it like rooted??
Is video fine on KL2?

Video only works with that rom if you have the correct kernel I do believe.
I would suggest going here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021 and downloading the one with 3e recovery. That enables access to modifications such as voodoo control, while maintaining a stable stock environment. The simplest voodoo kernel you can use is the voodoo community kernel, which can be found in the infuse super thread under the android development section of this forum.
Hope this helps!
I am also new to the Infuse. I had the AT&T Captivate that I was able to flash to Rogers 2.2 and it was great. Rogers allows more control of the phone and was very stable. I then got greedy and tried to flash a Rogers GB rom and bricked my phone. I read that the Infused rom is based on Rogers but it seems to have some bugs.

No bugs in Infused. The Rogers firmware doesn't have HDMI support, because the Rogers phone doesn't have HDMI out. Other than that, Infused is the best stock ROM for this phone. Once AT&T releases GB, we'll probably get another update, but there's no bugs. If you flashed an Infuse ROM on a Captivate, well... there's your problem. I can't tell from your post if that's what happened or not.

I disagree that the infused is the best ROM. Its a good ROM, but IMO CatyRom or Numas, are better. I ran infused for a long time as well as a lot of Ports. The Ports are fun, lots of customization and bells and whistles, but the 2 I mention as well as the infused are the best for what you're looking for I think.
Infused is outdated though.
I prefer these because they are native to infuse.
I suggest
1) CatyRom
2) Numas
3) Infused v2.3.3
The ICS version of Caty has a MIUI music player that is awesome. Also there is a free app called audio FX that I use for an eq and its great.
X,
Sent from my flashy Infuse.
Might try Catyrom, but probably will one of the latest leaks "ROM I997UCKL2 [2.3.6]" or "UCKL2[Rooted, Deodexed, Busybox, and CRT off]" I'm led to believe theyr both stock.
If I go with first UCKL2 I will need to root it to run the voodoo apps. If I root it will I lose video and HDMI? If so how do you fix it? Would I be better to go with the latter UCKL2 (already rooted)?
Note I may be upgrading from froyo (I havent got the phone yet).
Also not sure on the flashing procedure, I found this; any good or bit outdated? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318160

I edited post for lack of replies. What's a good kernel to go with Uckl2 for over clocking CPU and not losing features like hdmi and video?

Roms that allow call recording.

I am in serious need of a rom that will allow me to record my calls. I recently (yesterday) was awarded custody of my son. I now have to schedule visitation with his mother and would like to have recorded proof. I will be notifying her at the onset of each call that they will be. These will all be in case she doesn't show for scheduled visitations.l to prove that I have been setting time aside. Please any he'll would be good. My system is a rooted captivate with stock kernal running stock gingerbread minus some bloatware. I'd like to run that as my phone ran better on and came stock with froyo. Once I updated to Ginger it began to suck. Force closes, lagging. It been terrible but I can't upgrade the phone until next year at upgrade time. It has been a great $0.97 phone. I've tried to load roms and it doesn't work. I get some e:signature verification error. What would be the best way to load this rom. I am new to all of this and would love to learn more. However even in the tutorials I run across acronyms I don't know. Could someone please give me the easiest way to load this rom.

Two things:
1. If you're having trouble with acronyms, take a look at the "XDA Terms and Acronyms" post. That should help you out.
2. To get around the 3e signature issue, your best bet would be to flash a Froyo kernel with ClockworkMod recovery already included via Odin or Heimdall. I would suggest Onix, as it's a good kernel and I know it works with Firefly from previous experience.
thanks
thanks for the help. it is certainly appreciated. i just flashed the odin kernal. does it matter that the phone is currently running stock gb? also how long does it take to load? i like literally just did it at 10:14pm on wednesday june 20, 2012.

Team Phoenix aka The Collective aka The Family did come out with a great GB ROM called Mosaic. While Mosaic is themed blue, it does have a flashable Firefly theme here if you're partial to that.
They also came out with an ICS ROM, Fusion. Unfortunately it doesn't have a Firefly theme but it does have a green theme that looks pretty good as well.
It is important to note that the Firefly ROM is the only one that has call recording. It was never implemented in any of the more recent ROMs. Hopefully this helps.
I like firwfly in that it is quicker than the stock gb and it supports call recording. I needed it at the request of my attorney to record all calls with my sons mom. Id like to get back to a gb based rom that supports call recording. I don't want to try a ics rom until its more stable and safer. Don't want to render my phone useless.

Does anyone know why this feature is left out of all recent and current Roms? Currently on an ICS Rom now, and the only thing that I really miss is the call-recording. There is a post about this issue for the SGS II on 2.3.5 & Mod here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1482721.
