I've searched for an answer on this and couldn't find any. My apologies if I didn't search for the correct thing.
I have an AT&T Fuze that is unlocked and I am using it on the BELL HSPA network. Everything works fine but the phone thinks it is roaming all the time. It's not, but the phone thinks it is.
This doesn't present much of a problem except with apps that don't allow or always prompt for permission to use data while roaming. I am using custom ROM's and right now the one thing I can't use and would like to is the Twitter tab in Sense 2.5. I can use it on WiFi but over cellular it gives a connection error.
Is there something I can change in my settings or the registry to make my phone realize the Bell HSPA network is the correct network and that it isn't roaming?
I've suffered with this problem on Fido for a couple years now. Unfortunately, I have not yet found a solution
Fido roams on Rogers's network (they share towers).
I believe Bell's uses the joint Bellus towers.
Colleagues
Just recently purchased a goophone4GS (iphone clone) and all good so far but I am unable to get Internet connection on it. The WiFi works fine at home but I cannot get any data through my carrier.
I am with OPTUS Australia, the optus people tell me to switch on 3g but the phone is gsm not 3g if that makes any sense.
I am new to smart phones and just must be missing something, any Idea's?
Thanks
Katohdog
GSM and 3g have no.. relation at all. I'm using a GSM phone and it has 3g reception.

Ok I know my phone has no 3G capabilities, so I will go back to the question how do I get Internet? What settings on the phone do I need to activate?
Thanks
To address the above, GSM is '2G' and '3G' usually refers to WCDMA/HSPA. Most newer phones (except the cheap ones) do both, however this particular model is 2G only (which the OP knows ).
I assume this runs Android?
If it does, the APN settings for Optus are what you're missing. Try going into Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names and hitting the menu button. It will give you the option to make a 'new APN'.
APN settings for Optus can be found here.
Good luck!
Hi,
HTC 7 pro is supposed to support 3G speeds. I am currently with Rogers (Canada) and have a fully unlocked phone. It looks like my phone is the Euro version. No branding on it what so ever. My question, is it possible to re-configure the phone for Rogers network to attain 3G speeds? Everything else works, MMS\Phone\SMS\GPS etc. It all works. Just want 3G speeds.
I have looked at ##3282# settings, but I have no clue what all those mean and I am unable to make changes. There is a setting for "Network Type", when I change it to 3G only, I loose connection to the network (Rogers) no phone, etc. But when I switch it to 2G only, it connects back to the network (Rogers).
Thank you so much!
Hello,

The 4G signal that the networks worldwide use are not the same, GSM 4G is not the same as CDMA 4G, also, some 4G devices in the past were not true 4G, they used Wimax which is not actual 4G. My point is, the 4G your network uses is probably a different signal type or its bands do not match the bands the device supports. Research the exact signal type and frequency bands that Verizon supports, then research what signal type and bands that your network supports.
Many times I've seen 4G CDMA devices used on other networks and 4G could never be made to work, they were stuck with 3G because the device did not support the 4G type their network uses.
Most devices on other networks but still have 4G can count themselves lucky.
Thanks for your reply,
I flashed this rom (CM13) ; http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...m-cyanogenmod-13-0-nightlies-verizon-t3269675
my provider is "Djezzy" , and i think its 4g LTE.

You "think", no, don't assume anything, even if your provider uses 4G LTE, if the bands/frequencies of your network are not supported by the device's hardware then it isn't going to work. As I said the first time, you need to do the research to see what bands and frequencies Verizon uses and then do the research to see what bands/frequencies your service provider uses. I mean find the actual values of Verizon's bands/frequencies and the actual values of your networks bands/frequencies, you need to compare them to see if the use the same bands/frequencies, not just whether its 4G or LTE or not. Do you understand what I'm saying?
Also, their may be radio/modem incompatibilities, the radio modem is part of the stock firmware that remains on the device, ROMs are just the system partition and not the whole operating system, software that is under the ROM is still the software the device came with or had before you flashed a custom ROM.

I have a SM-J700P with a baseband of J700PVPU2BQJ2 that I unlocked and moved over to AT&T. I have it working on GSM but it says 3G at the top. I was told it may be on HSPA+, but looking here, I should be able to get on LTE just fine:
https://www.frequencycheck.com/carr...-sm-j700p-galaxy-j7-td-lte/at-t-united-states
I guess I want AWS?
Is there a way I can select the preferred band, and will that reset my phone? I have tried *#2263#, it doesn't work. Any help would be amazingly appreciated!
Also shouldn't my virgin boot screen switch to AT&T? I wish it would.
EDIT: Inputting "Q" on *#0011# doesn't do anything either
Do I also have the option of forcing bands?
