Help! The default Calender app keeps defaulting all my Calender events to Central European time GMT + 2. I sync with an exchange server and the other devices are fine. I've used locale 2 on xoom if that might affect anything?
maybe asking the obvious, but...have you gone to calendar then settings then general prefences then home time zone and confirmed it is set correctly? Since you said your other devices are syncing correctly looks to be a xoom calendar setting.

Is there a way to do this? I'd like to prevent battery drain and start mobile network only to download mails sometimes during the day... but I don't want to start it manually... just as happens on iphone, blackberry and nokia devices.
Do you know how?

I use a "Toggle Data" widget to turn data on and off.
Then under Settings->Accounts & Sync->{account name} you press the menu key to show the "Sync now" option.
If you are using an email client, there is probably a way to do a "Send/Receive" under the menu key there as well.

Maybe I didn't explain well what I mean...
I'm looking for an app which let me download mails for my accounts each hour (or better whenever I prefer). I'm able to do this in android mail account settings BUT this works only if data connection has been turned ON before... so to get it working I need to set mobile connection always on.
I need an app which, as happens on nokia, each hour does:
- start connection
- sync mail
- close connection

any suggestion?
All of you take internet connection always on to get mail synced frequently??

I use Setting Profiles
It's like Locale. I have a profile set up called Sync. For me it is set up to turn on Active Sync for 1 minute at specific times throughout the day. Or you can schedule it for a number of minutes every hour.
I use it to sync up Facebook and my Exchange contacts and Calendars (using Touchdown for email). It will work for GMail too.

Do you mean "Locale" as the app available (not free) on the market?
I didn't understand what's your proposal, sorry... but it seems you've centered the problem
Sorry for the long winded title. Is anyone else who has an exchange account setup to get email and calendar events experiencing the issue where the events on the calendar are 1 hour later than they are scheduled? I was thinking this was some issue with DST but after checking the time settings on the phone, and re-adding the account (reboot between remove and add) I still see the issue.
Am I the only one...
It could be your phone that is set to the wrong time zone, especially if you are on 2G service.

Is anyone else seeing very slow notifications of new gmail messages on their HTC One S?
My HTC Desire also received them within a few seconds, but the One S seems to take up to 15 minutes to get them. I can't find any settings to change, HTC seem to have hidden away any options?
Thanks
I seem to have found my own solution - I have an Exchange account also configured on the device, and I had "Smart Sync" enabled for it.
Changing that to "Push notification" has seemingly moved gmail to push notifications too...
So if i don't have an exchange account I'm likely to have problems with mail coming in slow?
No, I think it's a bug (or "feature") when you configure an Exchange email account, alongside a gmail account.
If you don't configure an Exchange account at all, then Gmail seems to run fine - it's only if I configure Exchange, then select "Smart Sync" as the email collection method, that Gmail also becomes affected by the Smart sync policy.
Since it seems as though you found the solution I'm going to close this. Pm me if you need it reopened.

Hi everyone --
Just picked up the z3 - loving the phone!
I added my exchange account, and the email came right down, but no cal events.
I tried to re add the account, checked the manual settings with my email provider, disabled calendar and calendar data and re-enabled them, but still no go.
any ideas?
thanks!
Perhaps you need to specify which calendar to display in the calendar app.

The events appear and give me notifications just fine, I actually turned them off... lol
Although, I set mine not to sync to begin with and it still did.
While I purchased the XZ nearly a month ago, didn't move all emails/accounts, etc. from my HTC One (m7) until yesterday...
Gmail (Gmail app) and Yahoo (native "Email" app) work/sync fine, but I am unable to setup my Live accounts (one is a live.co.uk while the other is my university ID) under Exchange ActiveSync (that's how I had set it up on the One). Even if I choose to sync, say, 3 days (or a week) of email. The app screen keeps 'circling'.
What's weird is when I check the account under 'Accounts and Sync' - it shows that emails are sync'd ('last sync'd <date/time>'), yet it just keeps 'circling' when I try accessing that mailbox.
Has anyone else faced such issues?
Appreciate the help.

Steps already tried-
1 - using the 'Exchange' option offered by the Gmail app: this sets up the account as IMAP and there's no SmartSync option
2 - using the regular 'Email' option under 'Accounts & Sync': same, endless circling as mentioned initially
