Market Download Issues - HTC Sensation

Hi all,
I am on the "old" version of the Android Market and have noticed an issue over the last several weeks that is starting to happen more often. Whenever I get software updates, especially when I use the "Update All" option, each app will download to 100% and then I get a message like this:
"Download was unsuccessful, please try again."
My completely baseless theory is that downloads are choking with multiple write operations happening at once. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, usually I either have to do one update at a time or switch to WiFi to resolve.
Thanks!

Rogers Gingerbread 2.3.3 Bug Report Thread

My fellow Canadians...
I have noticed a number of issues with the latest official firmware for the Rogers captivate. I think it would be a good idea to put them all in one place and try to start figuring out what common issues exist and perhaps we can address them all at once. Please state the issue, when it seems to happen, and what if any modifications you have made to your software setup. Maybe someone will notice a pattern or trend and we can get them resolved.
Thanks!

One major issue I have noticed is when updating apps through the 3.1.5 market. It seems to only happen when I am updating an app, not when I am installing a new app:
Sorry!
The application TwLauncher(process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
At which point I have to force close it.
Also, I have experienced random shut downs, I will click the power/screen lock button to unlock the phone, and it seems the phone has shut itself off. If you hold down the power button it boots normally.
Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Did you try a factory reset after you updated?
Voice for Swype
The voice command for Swype doesn't work.......
1. Speed dial no longer works. Says 'USSD code running' then closes and gives message 'unknown application'
2. GPS has stopped working completely.
As far as the launcher crashes, I don't use touchwiz. I do use Launcher Pro. It does seem to crash every so often. I've replaced all my widgets because I've read somewhere that this might help.
No random shutdowns here.
I talked to a samsung technical support rep and his captivate's swype voice input didn't work either.

GPS works perfectly on mine captivate 2.3.3 and I get better reception and locking time. But GPS will stop working if you flashed a custom Kernel on it! I know that because I tried it and GPS wasn't working when I had a custom Kernel, had to flash back the stock kernel.
Edit: I just tried Speed dial and it's working perfectly, I think there is something wrong on your phone.

I also don't have any issues with the GPS or Speed Dial. My only mod was rooting with the FUGU kernel.

I hadn't thought of that; I wonder if I'll lose my root? Come to think of it, I wonder if that's causing the launcher crashes...

Got the phone from Rogers with 2.1 then upgraded to 2.2 then to 2.3.3 (all done through Kies. GPS was ok but spotty on 2.1 and much better with Froyo but hoped Gingerbread would bring more improvement.
I've tested it since Rogers released 2.3.3 and on a few occasions I've even gone to the roof of my building on a clear day and waited for 45mins!! and nothing! Not lock then lose it but NOTHING! Speed dial I can live without but I actually use the GPS quite a bit.
Since upgrading I've done a factory reset 4 times and even sent it in for repair, which came back saying "upgraded SW and factory reset" which fixed nothing.
I've just rooted (just root nothing else) and I've tried to do use the gps code but I can't even get into that!!
What can I do at this point?

Yeah, with the 2.3.3 you can't access the gps setting by entering the code, because everything you enter the code *#*#3214789650#*#*, you'll get a message saying "Service mode has crashes blablaba...". The only that I found to bypass that was to go to market and install the app "Anycut" then launch it, select New Shortcut, Activity then choose Angry gps.
I'll look up what's the problem that causing you not to get a good gps signal.

Man I was going nuts trying that gps code. Googled and searched this forum and everything pointed to that code. Was ready to toss my phone off the roof!
Was reading these forums for the past couple weeks learning how to root/flash (just rooted today actually) to get gps working.
I'm guessing I might have to try flashing it again with the stock rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133 but gotta do some more reading before attempting it.

I use an app called GPS Status from the market. There, in the menu under 'tools', you can 'manage A-GPS state and wipe the location info the GPS has back to scratch. Then download the assistance data from the internet. This worked well for me and I do it from time to time to keep things current.

How long have you had the phone? The random shut downs is not a ROM issue. I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem. It was acknowledged by Samsung. There is even a list of effected builds. I am sure you could find the build numbers with a little search. I had this problem when I first got the phone last December but had Rogers replace it. If it is the same problem, I think you will notice that the sleep of death only occurs when the battery is like above 85% or somthing like that. It has been a while so I can't exactly remember.
I can't seem to get the firmware actually downloaded. I'm going through kies and it recognizes my phone, and recognizes that I need to upgrade, starts downloading the upgrade and at 12% it disconnects. I have two screen shots here that show what I am talking about.
Any ideas?

Tried this the entire day and still nothing. I know it's kinda cloudy out today but still nothing.
i found 2.3.3 very slow, and poorly built. no voice button in swype PEEVED me off.i was originally making my custom canadian rom off Kh2 (rogers 2.3.3) but i dropped that project and released a canadianized/rogersized KJ3 (2.3.5).
one of the best roms in the dev section. and will be updated by the end of the week with the theming all included. the pic in my sig is a link to the rom if you havent seen EFFIN EH!
Unable to update my Captivate
My captivate is still 2.2 and while connecting to Kies it says this version of the device cannot be updated.
Current version shows PDA: JL1/phone: JL1/CSC: JL1 (xxx).
I had rooted via Super one click and I can see Superuser installed. I havent used it for any purpose.
I removed my external SD card and did factory reset. No luck.

[Solved] Market not connecting properly

I am getting this issue since morning. Market loads up with base screen, and then from there on messes up by saying "Error retrieving information from the server. [DF-PFA-02]" or something like that. Most common error is "Connection timed out." and shows a Retry button.
Its happening on WiFi too, not just data. I have full signal where I am!!!
Is this happening to anyone else too? Looks like some issue in market app servers.
Things I tried:
1. Clearing market cache
2. Uninstalling updates
3. Rebooting
Neg...just dl from GP and ran an update on a couple of apps both data & me WIFI....no issues sir.

It is updating/installing apps. That's no issue. But I am getting these connectivity issues like about 50% of the times.
Well.. That's what happens on betas... They aren't perfect.
Maybe try reflashing it..

Oh no! I flashed the Zeus Beta only today morning (I've been on Beta since its release and never once had any issue with market).
same problem
hi im having the same problem on sgs2 i9100.. stock rom/firmware, I think it's a market issue, not to do with your custom rom.
for those who don't get an error, try to install "slash'em"
Right. Looks like this issue got resolved.
Yup, seems to have resolved itself.
A quick resolution.
I have found a solution to this issue for GSM phones. The only reason I am posting on a year old thread is this is the first search result for this issue on Google. If this issue does not resolve itself as it did for these guys, do the following:
1. Power Down the phone.
2. Remove the SIM.
3. Power the phone back On.
4. Go to the App or Applications menu and select the All tab to view all installed applications.
5. Find the Google Play services and Google Play Store, clear all data for both of these applications.
6. Start the Play Store and log-in.
7. Power Down the phone and replace the SIM card.
Upon restarting the phone, the Play Store should now work without issue.
How do you log in to the playstore without your sim? Did you connect to wifi?

[Q] Play Store App Updating Problem & Time Issues

Hi all,
I have a TMOUS Sensation 4G. I was on stock rom then I switched to OrDroid 9.0, but I'm experiencing the same problems.
1) Whenever I try to "update all" in Google Play under my apps, the first app will download, but the subsequent ones won't. It will just keep on showing "downloading" but doesn't actually download. Canceling the current download sometimes works; the next download would sometimes start. This problem seems to be worse on Wifi, but it happens sometimes with 4G as well.
I tried clearing the app data and cache for Google Play but that didn't seem to help.
2) When I'm on Wifi (especially when I'm at work), the system time just slows; sometimes it can be 6-10 minutes behind the actual time. My setting is always on auto-update time. Anyone know why this happens?
Thanks!
Delete play store, clear cache reboot download again and re try, I never use auto update as I'm the one who decides when and where also if I'm going to update
Changes in permissions I dislike and updates that there are many complaints about don't get in
so as you can see I always allow others to check the updates work for me (like you )
Tbo I've no idea on the wifi time issue, try asetting the time correctly and drop the auto update and see
UPdate - there is a differnt post about the time issue and the reply indicates that it may have something to do with overclocking - if you do that so read the copy paste below it may help
It happened to me when I was using the badass governor, even though I was connected to cell.
Switching to ondemand did the trick for me
Thanks for the reply, johnerz. However, I do not have anything on auto-update. I'll try deleting the Play store and see what happens I guess ... just thought it was weird that the same problem persists even on different roms.
As for the time issue, I'm using ondemand as well so I guess my issue is different?

[Q] Google voice search for jellybean error

I have been on Sky ICS ROM for quite a while now, and it has the Google Now and voice search for ICS in it and it has worked up until a few weeks ago. When I voice search for anything, my browser will open and display an error saying "We're sorry, but your computer or network may be sending automated queries. To protect our users we can't process your request right now." Strange thing is, it's not consistent. Sometimes it will work fine, then suddenly gives me that error. I have tried flashing back to stock then reflashing Sky ICS from scratch...same thing. Any ideas what could be wrong? Is it my phone, or is something going on on Google's end?
I've had this problem happen to me a few times, not exactly sure what causes it but only (statistically) happen when I update CM10 with the OTA updater. If I do it manually and include clearing the caches it usually fixes it self, then after that I just fix permissions after reboot.
But yeah I've had that notice popup while I was on data.
Just noticed new quirk with it. It doesn't error out when I'm on WiFi, only when I'm on the mobile network (AT&T). Very strange. I checked the APN settings and everything looks good. Can't think of anything else that could be wrong.
I am STILL trying to figure out why I keep getting this message. I've tried full wipes, flashing back to stock, flashed both bases of Sky ICS, and I am still getting same error message more times than not. I have tried searching online and in these forums for any answers but can't find any. Seems to be either working for everyone else, or the problems they have had are different then mine. Am I really the only one? Does anyone have any ideas?

It's a jb feature and your on a hacked up ics version. It's bound to screw up. Use a real jb rom If you need it that badly.

I was attempting to find the cause of getting this same message from google search. Same symptoms, works great on wifi, sporadically throws this error on data connection. Just so you know, I'm on an HTC Vivid, Holics ICS with Google Now, AT&T.
I am at least more confident that I am not infected with malware....
Still can't argue against you, xcrazydx.
Just FYI, not limited to your device...or mine it would seem....

[Q] Music Hub, version 15.2012.08.16.03 on GT-N8010

Hello all!
I'm completely stock, no root and have the latest firmware for the nordic countries installed. The other day I wanted to try out the MusicHub-app (see title), which is pre-installed with ICS, but I'm not able to get it to work. I'm wi-fi connected, GPS connected and have my Samsung account on the tablet going, but it's stuck on 'opening' for about 5 minutes and then a dialogue box states (translates to) 'Unable to establish location'. Hitting 'OK' then closes the app.
Anybody seing the same? Am I missing out on something here? Settings? Might it be that the app-version has issues? I have read somewhere that MusicHub is currently not available in all regions - if so, why would the app be pre-installed for my region? I should add that I talked to Samsung, and they had no answer other than trying a factory reset. I actually did that less than two weeks ago so I doubt that it will make any difference.
Any ideas, suggestions or feedback greatly appreciated. Thanks.

After having tested the MusicHub a little I seem to have found what's causing the issue on my tab. Using the native task manager to free memory/RAM apparently kills some process essential to the MusicHub. After a fresh restart of the tab, the MusicHub works fine. Testing again after having freed memory causes it not to work. Restart of the tab - voila it works again. Just in case someone of you runs into the same issue
