I am getting this issue since morning. Market loads up with base screen, and then from there on messes up by saying "Error retrieving information from the server. [DF-PFA-02]" or something like that. Most common error is "Connection timed out." and shows a Retry button.
Its happening on WiFi too, not just data. I have full signal where I am!!!
Is this happening to anyone else too? Looks like some issue in market app servers.
Things I tried:
1. Clearing market cache
2. Uninstalling updates
3. Rebooting
Neg...just dl from GP and ran an update on a couple of apps both data & me WIFI....no issues sir.

It is updating/installing apps. That's no issue. But I am getting these connectivity issues like about 50% of the times.
Well.. That's what happens on betas... They aren't perfect.
Maybe try reflashing it..

Oh no! I flashed the Zeus Beta only today morning (I've been on Beta since its release and never once had any issue with market).
same problem
hi im having the same problem on sgs2 i9100.. stock rom/firmware, I think it's a market issue, not to do with your custom rom.
for those who don't get an error, try to install "slash'em"
Right. Looks like this issue got resolved.
Yup, seems to have resolved itself.
A quick resolution.
I have found a solution to this issue for GSM phones. The only reason I am posting on a year old thread is this is the first search result for this issue on Google. If this issue does not resolve itself as it did for these guys, do the following:
1. Power Down the phone.
2. Remove the SIM.
3. Power the phone back On.
4. Go to the App or Applications menu and select the All tab to view all installed applications.
5. Find the Google Play services and Google Play Store, clear all data for both of these applications.
6. Start the Play Store and log-in.
7. Power Down the phone and replace the SIM card.
Upon restarting the phone, the Play Store should now work without issue.
How do you log in to the playstore without your sim? Did you connect to wifi?

My fellow Canadians...
I have noticed a number of issues with the latest official firmware for the Rogers captivate. I think it would be a good idea to put them all in one place and try to start figuring out what common issues exist and perhaps we can address them all at once. Please state the issue, when it seems to happen, and what if any modifications you have made to your software setup. Maybe someone will notice a pattern or trend and we can get them resolved.
Thanks!

One major issue I have noticed is when updating apps through the 3.1.5 market. It seems to only happen when I am updating an app, not when I am installing a new app:
Sorry!
The application TwLauncher(process com.sec.android.app.twlauncher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
At which point I have to force close it.
Also, I have experienced random shut downs, I will click the power/screen lock button to unlock the phone, and it seems the phone has shut itself off. If you hold down the power button it boots normally.
Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Did you try a factory reset after you updated?
Voice for Swype
The voice command for Swype doesn't work.......
1. Speed dial no longer works. Says 'USSD code running' then closes and gives message 'unknown application'
2. GPS has stopped working completely.
As far as the launcher crashes, I don't use touchwiz. I do use Launcher Pro. It does seem to crash every so often. I've replaced all my widgets because I've read somewhere that this might help.
No random shutdowns here.
I talked to a samsung technical support rep and his captivate's swype voice input didn't work either.

GPS works perfectly on mine captivate 2.3.3 and I get better reception and locking time. But GPS will stop working if you flashed a custom Kernel on it! I know that because I tried it and GPS wasn't working when I had a custom Kernel, had to flash back the stock kernel.
Edit: I just tried Speed dial and it's working perfectly, I think there is something wrong on your phone.

I also don't have any issues with the GPS or Speed Dial. My only mod was rooting with the FUGU kernel.

I hadn't thought of that; I wonder if I'll lose my root? Come to think of it, I wonder if that's causing the launcher crashes...

Got the phone from Rogers with 2.1 then upgraded to 2.2 then to 2.3.3 (all done through Kies. GPS was ok but spotty on 2.1 and much better with Froyo but hoped Gingerbread would bring more improvement.
I've tested it since Rogers released 2.3.3 and on a few occasions I've even gone to the roof of my building on a clear day and waited for 45mins!! and nothing! Not lock then lose it but NOTHING! Speed dial I can live without but I actually use the GPS quite a bit.
Since upgrading I've done a factory reset 4 times and even sent it in for repair, which came back saying "upgraded SW and factory reset" which fixed nothing.
I've just rooted (just root nothing else) and I've tried to do use the gps code but I can't even get into that!!
What can I do at this point?

Yeah, with the 2.3.3 you can't access the gps setting by entering the code, because everything you enter the code *#*#3214789650#*#*, you'll get a message saying "Service mode has crashes blablaba...". The only that I found to bypass that was to go to market and install the app "Anycut" then launch it, select New Shortcut, Activity then choose Angry gps.
I'll look up what's the problem that causing you not to get a good gps signal.

Man I was going nuts trying that gps code. Googled and searched this forum and everything pointed to that code. Was ready to toss my phone off the roof!
Was reading these forums for the past couple weeks learning how to root/flash (just rooted today actually) to get gps working.
I'm guessing I might have to try flashing it again with the stock rom from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979133 but gotta do some more reading before attempting it.

I use an app called GPS Status from the market. There, in the menu under 'tools', you can 'manage A-GPS state and wipe the location info the GPS has back to scratch. Then download the assistance data from the internet. This worked well for me and I do it from time to time to keep things current.

How long have you had the phone? The random shut downs is not a ROM issue. I am pretty sure it is a hardware problem. It was acknowledged by Samsung. There is even a list of effected builds. I am sure you could find the build numbers with a little search. I had this problem when I first got the phone last December but had Rogers replace it. If it is the same problem, I think you will notice that the sleep of death only occurs when the battery is like above 85% or somthing like that. It has been a while so I can't exactly remember.
I can't seem to get the firmware actually downloaded. I'm going through kies and it recognizes my phone, and recognizes that I need to upgrade, starts downloading the upgrade and at 12% it disconnects. I have two screen shots here that show what I am talking about.
Any ideas?

Tried this the entire day and still nothing. I know it's kinda cloudy out today but still nothing.
i found 2.3.3 very slow, and poorly built. no voice button in swype PEEVED me off.i was originally making my custom canadian rom off Kh2 (rogers 2.3.3) but i dropped that project and released a canadianized/rogersized KJ3 (2.3.5).
one of the best roms in the dev section. and will be updated by the end of the week with the theming all included. the pic in my sig is a link to the rom if you havent seen EFFIN EH!
Unable to update my Captivate
My captivate is still 2.2 and while connecting to Kies it says this version of the device cannot be updated.
Current version shows PDA: JL1/phone: JL1/CSC: JL1 (xxx).
I had rooted via Super one click and I can see Superuser installed. I havent used it for any purpose.
I removed my external SD card and did factory reset. No luck.

flash to stock 2.3.3 using the link in my signature. YOU NEED BOOTLOADERS coming from 2.2
First: Is it just me, or is Google Maps constantly running in the background? Not only is it constantly running, but there seems to be three different instances of it running in my background. Every time I open TasKiller, there's always 3 icons for Maps.
Second: Normally my wifi works, but when I'm at school I have issues with it. My school's wifi requires that I set the 'Phase 2 authentication' to "MSCHAPV2," but when I do that, it automatically resets it to default (which is no phase 2 authentication). I've tried all of the other options for Phase 2 authentication, and every time I close the wifi options, it's back to the default option. Should I use logcat for this?
Maps runs in the background no matter what ROM you're on.

I figured that it would start on it's own no matter what, but why are there three instances of it? Nevertheless, I'll try out Autostarts to have it stop coming up on its own.
Does anyone have an idea about the wifi issue?

I created a bogus wifi setup on the phone & I see the same issue; it defaults the Phase 2 authentication back to "None". I am not on Valhalla Black, either. I'm on stock 2.3.6 with bhndven's SMS kernel (3.1) so I think we're on the same kernel.
I don't want to say the kernel is the issue, though. Maybe someone else on here that is on a different kernel can try to create a wifi connection on their phone?
I'll wipe mine later and flash straight stock & see if I have the same issue. Might just be a 2.3.6 bug.

It's not anything bhundven has done to the kernel. Just tried it on my wife's phone and it's completely stock and I get the same results as you guys. After googling the issue it looks like most people were having a problem after upgrading to GB 2.3.4 and up. It looks like it goes further than our device.

Thanks for saving me some time Now the question is why.....
I wonder if its a problem with the certificates that are installed. Maybe they don't play nicely with Android?
Thanks guys for the responses at least now I know it's not just my phone. I'm visiting a friend away from home at the moment so I can't take any action right now, but once I get home, i'll try to google this a bit and see if I can find a solution.

It works fine on my nexus 7. It works fine on my girlfriends iPhone and that just pisses me off lol

I am having the same issue. There seems to be a little bit of people reporting it online, but haven't found a solution yet. It seems like it is an issue with Google's TTS engine. Hopefully there is a maps update soon that resolves this.

Few things I have tried, and their results:
1. Cleared Search cache -> Uninstalled Search updates -> Restarted phone
-No change except no longer have Google Now
2. Updated Search back again
3. Cleared Maps cache -> Uninstalled Maps updates -> Restarted phone
-Maps speaks street names, but with the old scary robot voice
4. Updated Maps back again
-Maps stops speaking street names, but keeps scary robot lady voice.
5. Cleared Maps cache again -> restarted phone again
-Maps speaks street names again, but the scary robot lady voice still won't go away.
Clear Maps data and it will resolve the problem. I've noticed this happens every time I fix permissions in Recovery.

Hi, I was having issues sending and receiving messages with Hangouts too.
Hopefully, today Google released an update that corrected my issue. (2.0.3)
I recommend you to first, uninstall Hangouts, go to Play Store and download and install the new version. It worked well for me.
See the attachment.
Hey guys,
I'm having this issue too. I had it like 2 weeks ago, cleared data for the Hangouts app and, at the same time, I installed Push Notification Fixer from the Play Store. The issue got fixed and I thought it was because of the app but, now it is happening again, still with the app installed and the service running so I guess what fixed it was clearing Hangouts data.
How many of you had/are having the same problem? Any way to fix this? Really really annoying.. :/

When that started happening to me I was abroad so I didn't use mobile data to avoid costs. That happened on Wifi always so the issue is not with LTE.
Also, I changed to Slim since but I did not experience the issue again. And I have been using Push Notification Fixer just to make sure that things work properly.

Okay so i have 4.4.2 in my gt-p3100 and am facing continuous network loss.
One second its there and the other second it says no service.
Then it identifies my cell network but shows this -
No Service- TATA DOCOMO
(Tata docomo is my network provider)
This happens usually when i am about to make a call or message or about to recieve a call or message.
The incoming call gets displayed for a split second and then bam..!
The network goes away.
And then again it shows no service and the cycle continues.
Toggling the airplane mode on and off sometimes helps, but mostly i cant get it even after several reboots or sim changes and everything.
I am really annoyed now.
This started only 5-6 days ago.
I completely reformatted this tab and had a fresh install but still it continues.
I have a custom messaging app called 8sms and xposed framework installed although i use just X-Privacy.
Besides i read that moto G users in my region are facing the same issue in their current KitKat version.
Just for reference : https://forums.motorola.com/posts/027c60e48f
Any help is urgently needed, thanks.
Bump...???
I hope this helps.
Clean install ROM. do not restore backup apps first. first log-in through your google account and restore all..
I experience same problem with other roms also slimkat, sensonic, dhollmen. what i did is restore my contacts and apn setting from my google account not from a backup. i hope this helps.
Well i had just cleaned and installed but what i did was let google restore the contacts and apn.
Then i manually restored some apks via app backup and restore.
And then i used Titanium Backup to restore the data in all of them.
Is this the wrong way.?
Thanks btw.
@gangpe well i changed the APN as u said.
But i was playing GTA San Andreas.
And a call came and it rang for a split second and then same..the network goes away.
But it came back automatically.
Still the issue is not solved coz it happens randomly .
Is the apn still there, or did it disappear? I ran into an issue once where the apn did not save for some reason...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Well its still there...
I chose the same name for it too, would that conflict.?
Also randomly it happens when sending/recieving a message too.
I click on send and suddenly it says no service and then the message cannot be sent even after 2-3 reboots. :-/
Bump..
Any one know any solution..?
Its starting to get on my nerves.
Random no service msgs.
And wont get stable unless 2-3 reboots..:-/ :-/
Not sure what to tell you. A few days ago, I had a few weird issues (could not install xposed framework, quick settings panel would not work), so I ended up wiping cache, data, system, and dalvik. After wiping, I re-installed the ROM, and I have been good since.
In my case, there was probably an old setting I had that was causing issues. If you haven't tried wiping those four options, then I would suggest you try wiping/reinstalling.
If you have tried that, not really sure what to say. Sounds like you might need to head back to stock for a while until a later release resolves the issue.
Mmmm...the thing u are telling is a case of wrong dirty flash of a rom, i mean u must have flashed a previous version rom without wiping over other rom version.
I have faced this too..but the thing i was facing seems to have gone now on current latest release.
Dont know but i did not fixed permissions from TWRP this time after OTA and now the issue hasnt surfaced since 24 hours.
Maybe i'l wait some more and check and report back here.
Thanks anyways.
Now i m gonna pull my hairs out..!!!!
Wtf is this sorcery.. I was watching a vid on MX player and again the no network issue started happening as soon as a call came....!
This MX player is the culprit i think..usually while watching vids this happens...
Same issue for me on p5100, it happens both on Dhollmen and Mokee.
I don't have MX player installed.
Often happens when watching videos, but I'm not sure if it happens ONLY WHEN watching videos.
However, no further way out than rebooting.
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda app-developers app
Well i am facing this randomly..but usually while mx player is on.
I cant seem to find any solution to this.
In rare cases i need 2-3 reboots to fix this.
M soo very disappointed guys.
Have not a single site as great as xda and not many people are even looking at our problem.
I generalized the problem to most full screen apps.
And it happens usually while pausing the app and flicking down the status bar and doing some multitasking from there or pressing the home button.
Anyone....???
Or should i just try Omni Rom.?
Maybe Mokee has this bug..?
If you try Omni Rom, I really appreciate if you let me known the results in any case, since I have no free time and currently I cannot flash this rom
Okay mate, i'l flash that in about a week as my exams are going on.
Omni has just this battery drain issue.
It seems no one knows about the problem we are facing on mokee.
@loboz well i flashed omni and its feature packed..
No issues till now, a little different from mokee and you'l be glad you did as mokee's OTA are dead too..
Satisfied with omni..
