I really like to use Thumb Keyboard on the TF but I am surprised that the auto correction features do not work in a number of apps. Examples are Dolphin Pad (e.g. in a text box on a website) and Google Plus. I reinstalled Thumb Keyboard just to make sure that my ROM changes did not cause this issue.
I guess one question I have is: Are the auto correct features linked to apps and are not an intrinsic feature of the keyboard?
In addition to that, the keyboard is laggy often, mainly when using it in a browser (stock browser is the worst).
Thanks!
I don't exeperience lag with this keyboard at all! It used to be terrible, but I started using Opera and I am not sure if that is the reason...I also went into the debug setting of the stock browser and disabled a few extras I really don't need.(but I'm positive those only effect the stock browser

So I was wondering if anyone has been able to load the Android Keyboard (AOSP?) on their phone running GB. I like this keyboard for a number of reasons, but mainly the fact that it auto-corrects some words automatically that the multi-touch keyboard does not for some reason.
For example:
- If I type im, it auto corrects it to I'm.
- If I type wer, it auto corrects it to we're.
- If I type il, it auto corrects it to I'll.
I know most of you think this might be a bit silly, but I got used to this keyboard and typing this way before GB, and believe it or not these little shortcuts allow you to type/text a lot faster on the phone.
Last night I flashed my phone from CM4DX back to Official GB, and I tried flashing the keyboard being used with CM7 (Android Keyboard) but it won't work on GB. Not only does it not work, but I have now lost the Multi Touch keyboard and I can't seem to get it back unless I do a factory reset. I'm currently using Swiftkey X, but I still don't like it as much as the original Android Keyboard.
If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

This is the Gingerbread keyboard in an apk. You can install it along side your current system keyboard.

Does anyone else have the problem where sometimes you can trace (swipe) the letters to type within the keyboard but other times you have to tap? For example in Supernote I can swipe but in my browser (chrome) I have to tap each key individually. I'm pretty sure I'm using the Asus KB all the time unless somehow it's application dependent..
I'm really happy with the Asus version and tried Swype but I'm not interested.
i for one am trying a crapload of different keyboards right now. i think the factory one is flaky in a zillion different ways!

Fully agree. Thumb keyboard is the only option for tablets IMO. I can't imagine you swiping on a 10 in device. 7 inch swype is pushing it (I use thumb keyboard on my kindle fire as well).

It's not a glitch bro.
The Asus swiping thingy is only compatible with certain apps or in certain situations.
I have the same thing with the Samsung GS3 - although the swiping functionality was slightly expanded in the latest FW update here.
I'm sure the same will happen with Asus; they will eventually make it work in more apps.
I THINK, if you want it to work any and every where, you're better off downloading a separate keyboard app.

I agree with a few others in here that Thumb Keyboard is the way to go for tablets.

Thumb keyboard rocks... Best tablet keyboard for sure. Can't beat the custom shortcut keys, layout is great (and fully customizable), lots of skin options, get it...
OK, OK, OK.......... I'll get it. Sheesh.
Music, please. But I still haven't fooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuund what I'm looking foooooooooooooor: a keyboard app supporting the dock keyboard in terms of prediction and autocorrection. SwiftKey's support team is frighteningly silent on the matter.
I got ThumbKB - not bad
Personally, I never use anything but stock....
jk. Thumb Keyboard FTW!
I check this tablet @bb today. It does not have Swype.
Any way to instal it?

Here ya go! You can download the installer from here.
http://beta.swype.com/
I have the above installed but have noticed that when trying to use on S note or Polaris, it does not function properly whereby when you Swype words, they don't appear on the app and if you try to delete, it does not do anything.
It works on all other apps but seems to fail on some Samsung optimised apps. Let me know if you have the same issues one installed.
Also just want to let you know that you can use Swype functionality on the standard keyboard that comes with the Note 10.1 and is very accurate too however we cannot have the minimised keyboard like Swype and for this reason, does not feel the same. The editing options are also much better on Swype.
It has a Swype-like feature built in. I've been using it and like it. Especially with the floating mini-keyboard. Just turn on "continuous typing" in the Samsung keyboard settings. I've been playing with T9 predictive typing and I like that too.
found it

Go to their website to install it. I did and it works great.
Is there a way to enable additional languages on top of English and Spanish?
The add languages menu for not seem to work
Ok disregard, out works
Ok typing from Swype now but lost the Samsung multi clipboard...which is useful
Edit: no it is still there this is independent from the keyboard
Does this function exists somewhere in Swype?

I have been using the swype. For almost 2 years on my galaxy s mesmerize for a couple years and love it. I couldn't stand the continuous type on my beautiful new tablet. I have been using the beta swype the past week and find out much more accurate. Is this the closest thing to the swype on my galaxy s? I do like the beta swype , and I'm sure will get used to it, but still prefer the galaxy swype
I tried beta swype and the swype apk from my Galaxy Note. One was super buggy and the other just wouldn't install. I don't particularly like the built-in swype-like (continuous typing) feature in the Samsung keyboard as it's not good with prediction and gives me errors most of the time.
The latest version, Swype 1.3, works great on the Note 10.1. It even allows you to resize the keyboard on the fly! So glad to have Swype once again, and I can now disable continuous text input in the Samsung keyboard.
Hi all
I use 4.04 ICS DDLP5, v6 100% applied (and overclocked to 1.6Ghz)
I tried samsung keyboard, google keyboard and Swype keyboard,
but it seems that there's definitely some delay or lagging whenever I type fast, I can even hear and feel the tap/haptic delayed which I feel like some aggregated combo being tapped!
Any commends? anyone having similar issue or solutions?
I tried to turn off the XT9, but only improves a bit, I still notice the lag, just not as smooth as my old iphone 3gs..
and I also want some of the XT9 feature turned on as they are useful.
This problem is so much noticeable when I use the stock browser's URL textbox to do some search, as it tries to pre-guess words and show urls in advance..
Maybe there's some hacked solution to better utilize/prioritize the cpu and memory for this app?
btw, when I used CM9/CM10's jellybean ROM and used the their stock keyboard, it was much smoother, but it didin't have the korean keyboard included...
Many thanks
Have you gone through the Swype tutorial to see how to use it properly? If you are tapping away on it you are using it incorrectly. Using it in Swype mode it is the fastest keyboard out there bar none.

i agree, im having lags when i do search using swiftkey
Is it just my phone or does everyone elses stock keyboard suck. I literally just reset my phone and typing in the google user info on the phone setup was the most painful thing i have ever done in my life. Then when i go and load the JB stock keyboard, the phone freaks out and their is constantly a notification in my status bar asking what input method I want to use. I CLEARLY PICK THE JB KEYBOARD, LEAVE ME ALONE!
Sorry, it just fills me with anger that someone would give the go ahead to release this to the public.
I don't too many people who use stock keyboard, there's a million better options.
Yea the Samsung keyboard lags ridiculously, I use the android 4.2 keyboard. works great, and can fly txting with the swiping actions.
I use PERFECT KEYBOARD. Free in the Play Store. Works flawlessly and looks professional. Of course you'll have to go into settings>language & input>change the default keyboard to Perfect Keyboard.
The lag comes from their predictive text. Go into the settings and and turn it off and you will see ZERO LAG. Or... download another keyboard such as swiftkey (which is AWESOME!!)

Mike is right. SwiftKey is a awesome keyboard. Zero lag and the prediction is great. Probably the best keyboard out there. I paid for the app awhile back and it was well worth it. I used it on my Rezound cause of the keyboard lag and now on my s3. You'll love it.

Yes go with Android as Andy says or as I prefer Swiftkey. The keys are big enough for me to hit. There is new straight beta and Flow beta. Sign up for VIP and they email you all beta APK's.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up loading AOSP 4.2.1 so its not an issue anymore. I had loaded the JB 4.2 keyboard several times and would pick it in the settings menu, but the Touchwiz roms didnt like when i didnt use their keyboard so it would constantly ask if i wanted to use a different keyboard
