[Q] keyboard problem - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have noticed that when using the dock keyboard to input text, the cursor will at times (actually, quite frequently) jump to a different location and continue to input text.
It's as if during the typing, the pointer clicked somewhere else to redirect the current cursor position.
Someone had a similar experience? Running latest ASUS upgrades...

I had the same problem until I noticed my one of my thumbs would contact the mouse pad. Now if I do any typing I disable the mouse pad using the key fourth from the top left hand side. Hope that helps.

Same here! The touch pad is very sensitive and I tend to turn it off as well.

OK, I will try this out - so far so good, but since it seemed tobe a "random" problem, I will do as you say and hope for the best!

[Q] Touchpad Sensitivity

I have some issues of the touchpad mistaking my palm as my finger and screwing up when I'm tryping to type. There's also a problem with how sensitive and fast the cursor moves. I hope ASUS adds a sensitivity setting in future updates.

In a video review on youtube they said there was a hotkey to disable to trackpad for when you are typing. I don't have my tablet yet and haven't even found a keyboard dock, so I can't verify.
As far as sensitivity, I don't think there is much to be done about it for now. We will indeed have to hope ASUS adds a setting for it.
I have the same issue when I am typing where my palm seems to hit the trackpad and it brings the cursor somewhere else, messing up what I am typing. I guess that is sort of a good thing though because it is training me to be more ergonomically correct and keep my rests elevated while typing lol. There is a hot key to disable the track pad, but it is sort of a pain to have to do it every time you want to type.
I hope they include some settings for the next update to adjust sensitivity and to change what two finger actions do, because sometimes I notice myself trying to do a two finder scroll, and instead, it does a two finger click on a link.

[Q] Trackpad is all over the place!

I'm ready to throw my dock into the wall. The trackpad on it has become terrible since I've updated the firmware. As I'm navigating in the browser, it's clicking whatever it likes and I somehow end up at the homescreen.
Anyone else having issues?
I thought I was having the same issue with my trackpad, but it is very sensitive. If you'll notice two things....while you're typing you might accidentally be hitting the trackpad with your palm, but the most common issue that I faced with my mouse clicking things when trying to move and scroll like you was that the trackpad was responding to my two fingers touching the trackpad as a click, which causes you to inadvertently click things when you don't want to. I always disable the two finger or long press click on laptops, so I am hoping that they will make that an option in future firmware updates also.
All of my errors were happening in the browser, while using the trackpad to navigate, click, and two finger scroll.
I did more testing and I found out that the dock works fine when plugged into a power source. It starts going crazy when it's running on battery.
I'm going to RMA it to Newegg.

On-screen keyboard while tab is docked?

Sometimes I'd like to use the on-screen keyboard while the tablet is docked (use thumb keyboard and would like to access the text shortcuts). Anyone know how to do this? Don't see anything in settings, but maybe I'm missing something, or maybe there's a hack. Help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I would also like that feature

When in a text field with the tablet docked. tap the little keyboard icon in the notification bar next to the dock icon, and turn Use Physical keyboard off. Then the onscreen keyboard will come up. However you will still be able to use the physical keyboard, but the onscreen keyboard will pop up.

dock track pad stopped working, external mouse ok

I have a tf201 dock for my 700, had it since I owned the prime. Never had an issue with it, but I just noticed that the trackpad has stopped responding. when i drag across it I see no pointer, but if I plug in an external mouse and use that instead, everything is fine. I have no problems typing with it at all.
has anyone else experienced this at all? Any fixes or something that locks/unlocks the trackpad?

Hi! I'm the idiot that posted this above. Apparently, I'm not too bright and don't think before posting. So allow me to answer my own dumb question,... its the 4th button from the left along the top row. trackpad lock and unlock button. I will now commence flaming myself....
have a nice day!
i was just Googling how to disable the track pad and found my answer and was just going to post that for you. I keep hitting mine accidentally and it's annoying, glad you can disable and enable it so easily

Is there a way to block touch-input

Hi
A few weeks back my asus tf300 fell on the ground and the touchscreen was broken, but everything besides the touchscreen worked. So i used my keyboard to keep using my tablet and it worked fine. But since yesterday the tablet is doing strange things, it automatically makes opens apps, opens menus,... it is like the screen is touching itself. If i take the tablet out of the keyboard it still happens so it has nothing to do with the keyboard. So is there a possibility to block all input except from the keyboard?
GHOST!!!!

Just to ensure that this is the screen enable the "Show Touches" option in the Developer menu.
Open Settings -> Click "About Tablet" a dozen times fast until it says that your now a developer. Scroll down to INPUT and then under input you'll find the touches setting. This will help ensure that it is the screen and not gesture input executing these apps.
This will sometimes happen when the digitizer is broken. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn off the touchscreen.
You could technically write a program which creates an invisible overlay over the entire screen area that would consume all touch input. But remember, the mouse pad on the keyboard simulates touch input.. So that too would get consumed by the invisible overlay. But typing and arrow keys would still work.
