im not sure why but i just got my sensation today whenever i try to open revo it automatically closes and says something about incompatible kernel i installed htc sync because my computer would not detect my phone before
U have to do it on a different computer because some file on your computer isn't letting it run, or u can restore your computer, and the steps to download is HTC sync then the revolutionary tool

i'm having the same issue. however, revolutionary just straight closes on me when i open it. i'm going to try it on another computer. mind you, my phone is already rooted but i'm trying to get s-off on it.
that thing also happen to me... the reason why is HTC sync... If you have any other computer, WITHOUT HTC SYNC installed on it, use that computer to run the extracted file coming from REV.. But if you only have 1 computer, just UNINSTALL HTC SYNC.. then Run the REVOLUTIONARY that you unziped... then it will run...
Click thaks if i led you to the right path..

I recently bought a HTC Wildfire, but I was a bit disappointed with its CPU, so I want to overclock it. But in order to do that it seems that I need to install a HBOOT USB driver. I followed the instructions provided by unrEVOked and successfully installed it in bootload mode, but when I try to connect my phone to my computer with USB debugging enabled, my computer says it needs to install drivers, even though I installed them. Can anyone help me?
I had that problem too and all I did was after it asked again I just directed it to the same location for the bootloader files and installed it like that. Unrevoked worked after that.
So I should just keep trying?
It still doesn't work.
I had the same problem with my HTC Aria, I had to install HTC sync to my computer. While your installing that, the program automatically installs 2 drivers for the phone. This might fix your problem. I wasn't able to root my Aria until I did this, you just have to make sure your not running HTC sync while your using unrevoked.

Hi all,
I have been running Darkstone SuperNand Froyo 1.5 for a while now and I have been looking for a new ROM.. When I find one I like, I can't get my Win Vista to recognize phone nor the phone to recognize usb. So now I am stuck and in need of help.. Tried to see if phone would recognize usb while in bootloader with no luck there either..
How can I fix this?
I think if you d/l clk it comes with drivers, manually add the drivers through win vista device manager that should do it its just because vista is tosh.......

Off topic: vista is after windows me the worst os ever
Google usb drivers are in this package...ignore adb, fastboot.exe..just picked up the package from the clk thread. Im on my way to work, so this was the best solution to help as fast as possible

You have to manually install them over the device manager.
Hope this helps.

it will work.
So you've gone into the tri colour screen? (vol down and power) with the usb plugged into your phone and pc. At the bottom it should say usb and at the top your spl version.
What happens on your device?

i dont have the hd2 with me (using a DZ now for a while), but if you have magdlr, go to usb flashermode, or go to tri colour.
or use/and a ruu.
i have hspl 2.08/hspl3 on the phone and magdlr 1.13.
just recently tried the new wp7 and the reverted back to nand android.
thats when i had the same problem.
I get the tri color screen it says usb at the bottom but does not connect my HSPL is 2.08.. I can't even get task29 to run.. I also have windows mobile device center on my laptop as well as htc sync... neither one of them recognize the phone.

usb port on the comp/phone is working oke?
is the cable any good?
the phone is useles in tricolourmode, exept for flashing a ruu
sometimes the ruu will error the first time, just try it again.
if you want to flash,
use magdlr (hold the most left button pressed when powering on the phone), go to usb flasher, then use the ruu for partitioning/task 29 whatever.
and then use clockwork to flash the rom
i only use tricolour if i want to go back to wm6.5 (or when i want to get rid of magdlr).
for evrything else i use:
magdlr flasher mode---> for partitioning nand
clockwork---> for roms
when i go into usb flasher I get the same messages when trying to run the ruu or task29. I will try it again when I get home in about 45 min and will update

(when the ruu is giving a error, imediatly try again)
you can also try this.
flash a custom wm6.5 from tricolour. (hspl wil remain on the phone)
then go trough the whole proces of flashing a nand android rom as it was for the first time.
(task 29/magdlr/clockwork/custom rom)
now its sleeping time.
RUU ran and stock 6.5 WinMo back on device.. .Will keep you guys updated on the progress... Thanks for all of the help
you must to use Android 2.3.4
I have adb installed. HTC sync nor Droid explorer are running. I verify adb works because I can see my device. My problem is that the revolutionary.exe is not detecting my phone. Says waiting for device. Usb debugging turned off. I've been trying for the past 6 hours and no go. I'm coming from a Vibrant where we don't have locked boot loaders n such. Is there another method to achieve s off? The noob guide didn't help me. Hope someone can.

Usb debugging should be on. There's your problem.

Meant to say on.
Meant to say on
Both HTC Sync and Droid Explorer have to be completely uninstalled from your computer to make it work. Also, download and unzip the HTC Naked USB Driver to a folder somewhere on your computer. While the Revolutionary tool runs and says "waiting for device" open device manager. You may see a yellow exclamation point icon with something like "Android Phone" or "Android Composite Device." The actual title escapes my memory, but you get the idea. Update the driver and point it to where you unzipped the USB driver. Restart the computer after you uninstall the HTC Sync, Droid Explorer, and install the USB driver and try the Revolutionary tool again. Let us know what happens.
this is what im seeing... gosh i feel noobish
Try to update the driver and point it to where you unzipped the new driver. Did you completely uninstall the other software? and you have it in "Charge Only" mode with USB debugging on right?
When I tried to update the driver it says Windows found the most current driver or something like that. Also phone is in charge only mode and usb debugging on. :-/Any remedies or such I'm open to hear them. I'm goin to sleep or try. I know its me just don't knw what it is.

HTC Sync does not have to be un-installed. It just can't be running at the time. Install HTC Sync & the drivers, make sure its working...say try to sync your phone to your pc. If its works then exit it off & unplug your phone from pc. Now exit HTC Sync from the taskbar on your pc...little phone with an x on it.
Turn on USB debug, plug your phone into your pc & select HTC Sync & ignore the error that it cant find it..then go from there..
Adb didnt have the correct path. Rolling eyes. Lol. Going to give it another try

Have you dowloaded and installed the correct drivers, usb debugging checked, fastboot checked, phone connected to pc using HTC sync mode?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
Errrrr, have you unpacked the archive? Not trying to say that you are stupid, just a good old "check simple things first" thing. Also, did you follow revolutionary how to?
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
Also, make sure your virus scanner isn't running.
I have the same problem. I tried on a different computer and at first revolutionary would go on but as soon as I installed HTC drivers it would immediately close. I tried uninstalling HTC sync but it still does it. Idk how to fastboot check I understan alot of android stuff but then my last 2 devices where a captivate and then an infuse so those were simple for root. lol I am a noob though when it comes to getting this much in depth. Any suggestions? I feel stupid asking this cause I have flashed a ton of roms in the past.
Figured it out I used the drivers that came with sync when you need to use th ones from revolutionary
any help on how to use the drivers that came with revolutionary not sync please
Just make sure you can connect via HTC sync then exit htc sync and make sure it is closed completley. give it a second and run revolutionary again
Revolution Doesnt work for me!
Hey guys i cant get Revolution to work. I'm having the same problem. Flashes and then goes off without running.
I have installed the htc drivers(from revolution site), enabled debugging, connected via htc sync(then closed it), extracted the .zip file and run the .exe.
I cant find an option to disable fastboot. I dont have a power in settings and in applications there is no option for fastboot. I'm running a t-mobile 2.2.1 android.
HELP!
So Im following the guide over at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 on rooting my Sensation.
Im stuck at #5 under step one.
When I double click revolutionary, whether my phone is plugged in or not, it opens then closes in about 2 seconds.. nothing happens..
Any idea what is wrong? I have tried re-downloading several time.. nothing is working!
My USB debugging is on, I have it set to everything it says on the forum..
Try another USB port .... and make sure the drivers are installed via device manager.
It should be driver conflict in your computer (maybe).... Did you try to remove all drivers and HTC sync before doing Step 1 for S-off?
After installing the revolutionary program restart your computer to let it "finish installing". I did not do that and had very similar problems to what you are having.
Did you try running in adminstrative mode?
