Alright this is just an updated X. i had alot of ideas in mind but i cant get them to function properly. Just as many updates in the V series were small, they led to bigger things. with source and everything this week it has been hard to stay focused on one rom. X3 will be a completely new beast. so for now pick V or X series. they work the same

EVOlutionX-This is a DroidX themed Froyo. its as reliable as V8 but now it has alot of motorola elements. i started Seem editing moto razrs so im going back to the beggining .
i recommend wiping everything then Flashing. IF you have V8 or Hero_overs rom, you might not HAVE to wipe because its froyo over froyo but if you experience problems, wipe then flash
This is a very visual rom. i love it so far. If you dont like it just restore your V8 or w/e. This is a new series of froyo roms so i will continue updating this with the V series.

Alright EVOV9 is based on FRF85B and has the Evo update applied. it fixed alot of little problems. Much more stable and smooth. This is considered very beta as the new updates kill alot of things, it was hard to get it right. 35+ test roms actually. I will be updating as problems are found. but the only things that are not fixed are mms, BTmono, cameras. everything else should work. I recommend a wipe coming from anything, but as always it may not be 100% needed coming from another froyo rom.

Quirk- some people may get no sim card inserted at google login. just click back and it will fix it. this is one of the issues i have fixed but i will address them at a later time.
I will be adding patches, one for MMS fix and another with a white taskbar incase you dont like the black one.
You must flash coming from any rom. Go to market and download TITANIUM BACKUP. click (problems?) and install busybox. after that push menu and select batch. BACKUP ALL USER APPS. when its done you will then have all your apps backed up. then install rom, rinse, repeat.
for people who dont want use this because of cameras, i posted this up and i guess people dont think about it. Nandroid backup your 2.1. after its done wipe everything, flash this rom, set up the 2.2 rom to your liking, titanium backup works on froyo, and nandroid backup this rom. nandroids are sorted by date so just remember the earlier one is 2.1. you can rename but people say it messes up sometimes. then use froyo when you dont need cameras, and just wipe dalvik and restore 2.1 when you do. thats what i do and i love it.

Recommendations- i want to include this as i know how it is just starting android rooting. when your start flashing roms, the first thing you do is look for flaws. now these little things kept me from going to roms. the biggest problem i forget is that there are apps out there that can replace the small ones.
Handcent-Ultimate msging app. i suggest you download this, go into the stock msg app and disable notifications. this will help with Voicemail issues.
Rootexplorer- you must have this. it is one amazing app
Better keyboard- the stock skin on this beats anything i have used. i recommend this app also.
Titanium backup- USE THIS AND BACKUP ALL APPS WEEKLY!!!
i will add to this as i continue. and one very very important thing, i got my htc hero in november. i didnt join XDA until january but i downloaded roms from day1. leave comments!!!! as a developer the most important thing is not how many people use your rom or how much money you make. its all about you all telling us you love our rom. theres no greater feeling than sitting down for 6 hours at a time and fixing issues and hearing thanks. so this is just something to think about thanks for the support everyone

Damn me and my impatience, tried it again and bam, it worked.

Thanks for the ROM. Here are 3 problems I am incurring:
1. Can't pair with bluetooth device.
"There was a problem pairing with LG HBM-570 because the PIN or Passkey was incorrect." The problem is, android doesn't pop up a keypad for me to type in any PIN. Then when I hit the back key, I get an error message:
"Sorry! The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
2. Screen auto-rotate to landscape doesn't work at all. I tried in Messaging and the Browser. The setting Auto-rotate screen is checked under Display setting.
3. Proximity sensor doesn't work. When I'm on the phone the screen doesn't turn off automatically.
Other than that everything else seems to be running fine. The LED light goes away when I unplug, finally! I also updated the eri.xml to get rid of the roaming indicator. I will post updates as needed. Thanks

have you gotten the rom to actually load? i get stuck in this infinite boot loop. I flashed another rom and it booted up right away. i flash back to this and i'm stuck. I tried wiping everything including dalvik cache. any ideas?

Help Please

I have a strange problem with my Hero that is hard to describe. Even before I rooted my phone I had this problem which leads me to believe it could possibly be a hardware malfunction. Anyways..
The problem is that over time after a complete wipe and flash of a custom rom (I've tried several) that my phones slowly deteriorates. It will be running fast and great for a week or two and then its starts to slow down to the point where it is completely unusable and I am forced to wipe and flash again. While its acting this way I have tried killings tasks, emptying cache, hard resets... every simple solution I can think of....
The other odd thing is that I use my phone very lightly. I only install 4-6 apps and those are the basics like pandora and such...
And I'd like to add that maybe I'm wrong about my phone acted this way when I had 1.6 official on it. It's been awhile.... so maybe I corrupted something when I rooted my phone for the first time?
Really I wish you could see the way my phone acts... its ridiculous . I would take a youtube video of it if I wasnt too lazy too. Crazy stuff like it taking a whole 30 seconds to a minute for a unlock pattern to finally go through, Or how when I try and type a phone number its like 3 or 4 presses "behind" as I type ( and im not typing quickly) or when I try to scroll through my contact list it just gets stuck and then finally it "catches up" and stutters all the way down to the bottom because of how many swipes I attempted.....

Have you tried to run an RUU of eith 1.6 or 2.1? if you runn an RUU it will clear out any lerking "software" issues and then just re-root and try that out then try a custom rom after that.

Try Autokiller from the market. Once you install it, run it. Set the autokiller settings to something like Optimum or Strict (if that doesn't work for you, try Aggressive).
This will adjust the low memory killer settings to a more aggressive number. This, hopefully, will help.

I agree. I use auto killer on aggressive with CM6 and it runs great forever

My phone does the exact same thing!
I first really noticed it when I flashed the official sprint 2.1 update. I think it has something to do with the buildup of cache on the phone.
I have been running CM6 for a little over a month and have recently noticed it getting slightly hung up at times, but nothing compared to how it was with the official 2.1 update. Also, remember that CM6 does not have Sense, which can really slow down the phone.
I also I agree with you that it seemed like my phone did not do this on 1.6, but it has been quite sometime since I flashed 2.1.
Does anyone know what really causes this exponential slow down; to the point where the phone is barely useable?

as for CM6..... I've tried not using sense UI but to me its my favorite part of my phone... for example the facebook/twitter/flickr integration with my contact list is invaluable.... is there a replacement for this?

Try Zen-Rom. It has all that you are looking for and is very fast and stable.

Auto killer is the way to go. I found Aggressive setting too much for my tastes; if I was on a webpage, then went to the home screen for something else and opened back up the browser, it would have to reload it because it was killed. I set it on optimum, and get no slow down, and can still truly multi task.

Or NFX-Hero. I'm not a Sense guy, but I've experimented with that ROM, and it was the fastest Sense 2.1 IMO.

Just curious but does pandora have a cache file on your sdcard? I had an app that was reading and writting to a cache on my sdcard and it would slow my phone down a lot. When your phone slows try ditching some of your apps and see if maybe one could be responsible for it, if it is there are tons of options different apps that do the same thing.

wow... Camera Failed... just wow :(

wow... this came totally uncalled for. after it had worked perfectly since i got the Galaxy Tab, and i just more or less randomly opened the camera app to see the settings, i get this error message on camera start-up:
"Warning - Camera failed"
blablabla... fixed it
it was in fact my tampering with the Email.apk. i removed the original email.apk and email.odex, however only replaced email.apk but no *.odex... that screwed my camera
that will teach me tampering with something i have no clue about ...

Ohh so I randomly found this post... This is the exact same issue I was having!! Thank youuu sooo much!!! I had no idea deleting the email.apk would cause this issue... Luckily I hadn't deleted it but placed it into "removed apps" folder. You're awesome!

my camera is also not working,, i have installed few apps from market though factory reset solve this problem but i need those apps and whenever i download them my camera shows warning "CAMERA FAILED".

well my problem was the same as the op i froze\deleted my email and some how its connected to the camera so i just unfroze the email and rebooted and the camera worked again perfect hope that helps any

Just a note.
Default camera will stop working on <200 LCD Density on 2.3.3 (I'm using 180) it's quite surprising since this problem never occur in Froyo before.. Even in the same density

mine fails sometimes when i change my LCD density, changing it to a higher number fixes it. i am at 190 right now.

Hi, I have a problem with hard reboots. When i try to start my camera, from app drawer or key press the screen turns black and the phone reboots. Also similar thing happens when i try to play you tube videos. The screen freezes when i hit play and the hard reboot. Is this the end for my phone or is it a software issue. I have tired a couple of kernels and releases of cm9 that have worked before. factory reset, reverted to backups that worked before etc. Can anyone help me figure this out. The phone is only 1 year and 2 months old

try a fresh install of a stock rom

Can you provide the output from 'adb logcat' when this crash occurs?
Also, are you still using the original battery? I experienced problems with my MT4GS with the original battery after about 8 months. Random hard resets. Buying a new Anker battery solved my issue. Cheap Chinese batteries (ie., not Anker) did not play nicely with my MT4GS either.
Also if you need a copy of the stock ROM PM me, I made a nandroid backup of my MT4GS before I flashed a custom ROM.

Hey, don't knock all cheap Chinese batteries I bought a battery at a shop in Shanghai over the summer, 1900mAh, paid the equivilent of about $5 for it. Works great and last longer than any other battery I've had, including an Anker.

Hi, I did a total reset to stock. The problem is still there, or at least video playback because I can't come through with the introduction after i click next it wants play a video. BAAM! it reboots. Cant restore back to CM9 either because I can't come through to settings and disable fast boot to install revolutionary, i have HBOOT-1.44.0007 that I don't like to upgrade.
Don't have random reebots. Just video playback and camera. Everything else worked. Can't do a logcat either in this state.
Any idea on how to disable fast boot? Maybe how to skip the introduction with the video?
Right now i just want to restore my backup where everything works except camera and video.

just a quick browse through it my best guess it isnt hardware but software and you didnt do a complete wipe between flashes or restored stuff you shouldnt. you also seem to have a lot of sh*t apps running that look kinda like malware.
first thing id do is start the phone in safe mode, then check camera and youtube, if they run in safe mode then yeah for sure vicious apps.
if this dosent work (or i guess either way) do a complete wipe, and definitely a fastboot-w as well, reformatting would be best but im not sure what fastboot commands work with the revolutionary spl, try it though or use adb if you must.
also may not be a bad idea to reflash firmware, if your willing to do the wire trick and gain radio s-off this becomes easy and will help ensure a phone that is easier to resurrect in case something worse happens in the future... but choice is yours

I have made a full whipe and went back to stock everything including HBOOT. The issue came first thing when I tried to runt the intro movie. I didn't do a log then but the issue is the same. If I need to go back again and make a log I'll do that.

Here is logcat for stock. Same issue with video. But this time the phone didn't reboot on camera. Just turns the screen black and freezes

No answers? Anyway. I have ordered a new one now. Thought it was time for a new phone. The only one that seemed better was Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. After reading about bad battery life and buggy software that corrupted the sd card I finally decided that MT4GS is still the best phone out there. New on ebay for 213 USD inclusive postage isn't that expensive either.

Strange behavior.

So... I had no problems with my(second) idol 3, all was well and dandy. But recently the colours on the screen became more saturated, almost like an amoled display, followed by a significant decrease in performance. Nothing is changed, no root no nothing. Totally stock, except for the launcher. That would be Nova launcher and I used it since the day I got the phone with no problems. What the hell happened and has anyone else experienced this?
Random restart happened today and all my wifi passwords are lost.

in which app the colors are saturated? stock gallery app?

All over the phone. Not just the gallery. Perhaps the gallery is the fault for it?

i asked the gallery 'cause on my idol mostly (but not the only one) the gallery app that distorts color badly... have you tried a CM rom? in my case there is no color distortion on CM at all so the stock rom obviously has the wrong color balance settings

Yeah, I know about the gallery app too. Can't really install a CM rom due to warranty, it's only two monts old. I'm sure that the problem can be solved with a full wipe but that is not the answer I'm looking for.

I doubt that a wipe can solve errors like this. I did it a few times, restored firmware with Mobile Q, color distortions on stock ROM never disappeared. Best experience was with Color Balance app from Play Store. It's just too expensive for my budget.

I have tried wiping cash but to no avail. The performance has slightly improved during the day but has returned back to garbage now. This is so annoying. Is there a way to check the "settings" for this without root? Maybe something in build.prop or such?

without root you can't do any really useful. if you don't want to install cm, check this app (earlier i made a mistake with its name):

If it can stop color distortion, at least you'll know that the phone hardware itself is correct, just the stock rom sucks.

just read the new symptoms, at first i'd make a full reinstall with mobile upgrade q, if it doesn't solve anything, i'd go to a cm rom.

The problem seems to have fixed itself. I don't know what happened. All it's buttery smoothnes has returned after an accidental tap on the gallery app. The saturation has returned to normal too. I'll check out the app link for good measure. Thanks for all the help. How does one close a thread?
Guess I spoke too soon. The phone just did something of a restart. The whole boot animation happened but none of my open apps(gmail and chrome) have closed once it booted. Very strange.

that's normal, opened apps don't disappear from 'recent apps' after a reboot on lollipop.
however a reboot just from nowhere isn't normal.

I did not know that. Guess I will have to do the mobile upgrade q procedure. I'll give it a few days before I do that though.

Welp. I've given it some days and the problem has not returned. Also, a fun thing i didn't mention. This replacement idol 3 is not exactly the same as the previous one. For example the camera lenses had a green tint on the first one, but on this one they're blue. And the logo niw sits flush with the surface instead of being pushed more inside.
