So ive seen all these "leaks" of the *Google*Samsung*Nexus*Droid*Galaxy*Prime*3* with screen shots and videos of what to expect ICS to look like on the new phone... but it was my understanding that this OS was going to merge tabs and phones on one OS. Everyone is pointing out the HC aspects that are applied to ICS on phones, but what will it look like on tabs?!?! no one seems to care or care to report on it or leak it. Im waiting for some goods on my touchpad and as we all know the source for HC will never drop so what can we expect this to look like on our tabs?!?! and where is the fllagship ISC tab?....we had the droid for 2.0 the the nexus s for 2.3 the xoom for hc, and now the *Google*Samsung*Nexus*Droid*Galaxy*Prime*3* for ICS on phones.
so any ideas, thoughts, speculation? will it be just a minor update to HC like 2.3 was on our phones??? what'cha guys got??

I doubt it. If that's all that changes from Honeycomb I'll be very disappointed.

Umm, what exactly were you expecting Ice Cream to be? Besides, a picture of the home screen does not tell you everything that changed in the OS

I just can't see this scaling from a tablet to a phone.
Since it's almost time. That leaked picture could be ICS, but I know for a fact 4.0 is out on tablets. Why? A friend of mines father works for Motorola Mobile. Her Xoom Wifi is running ICS.

yes it will be a good idea, and make a video too

I always assumed it was going to look pretty much exactly as it does now with HC, but I guess we'll see soon enough.

Its much easier to take a snapshot while emulating in the sdk.. than posting a silly theme with a "honeycomb" wallpaper. lol..

Lolol. N00bs br0. But really though.
well if you guys can get a new boot.img build with a ramdisk from one of the working honeycomb ports and a zimage from a working 32b kernel we can get something going
well honeycomb has been ported to the evo 4g, but its barely functional.

Honeycomb's primary target is tablets
why is this thread cluttering up G1 dev?
yes mainly for tablets. but some member like bypass portet it to the nexus one and it works... so if someone know how we get it boot PM me or yoshi
bypass said we have to edit the boot.img and it will work but yet it only sitting in the htc logo.

well, 2.3 was released not so long ago
it does seem clear that honeycomb has a different target to gingerbread,
the new features of honeycomb are mostly to take advantage of a larger screen size, and more processing power,
sure maybe it could be dumbed down for g1, but what would be the point?
I love my g1, but its time to move on soon, there comes a point when getting something to run on it for the sake of getting it to run becomes futile , by not moving on to better hardware we are ultimately missing out on the great features that an Android OS can give us when running on up to date hardware
I can get Linux to run on a Pentium3 , but why would I want to do that when I can run it on a quadcore intel ?
I'm moving on to the Evo mid-march, but why not try and make the most out of it?
thanks to TMartin03 for sharing this leaked htc test rom
PD98IMG_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_Generic_2.16.0.0
this is a test Gingerbread/Sense rom for the telus DHD, it has been rooted with SU and busybox installed. Inspire 4g users may want to install the TurboniumX Inspire Audio Fix if the call quality is bad(i havent had time to test it much yet). here are some screenshots....

In for updates/developments
Ill give it a whirl.
so far the only bug i have ran across is...of course...the sound lol. on my end of call there is quite a bit of static, but the people i have talked to say they can hear me fine. just installed the audio fix, seems like it has helped some but static is still there.

the sound fix? i use r1 that was in his first post, i didnt know there was r2 i have never had the need for it with the rooted stock rom hehe.
update...the sound is actually somewhat acceptable now, but not as good as the stock rom. this rom is actually pretty cool i am enjoying playing with it, but i will be flashing back my rooted stock rom before work tomorrow.

r2 was taken down, last I heard. It caused the mic to quit working.
Just flashed it, in call sound wasn't to horrible for me, so far it runs pretty smooth.
edit: To be honest the speaker is actually louder and clearer after flashing this, I haven't flashed the sound fix yet.
So far its pretty nice. I'm sure it will be fully developed in a week.
Thanks for the ROM, looked great, however the performance was 30% slower then a stock Inspire.

yes, i noticed that too. remember this is just a test rom leaked from HTC, hopefully future builds will be at least as fast as the stock inspire rom.

So is it just wishful thinking to ask whether this has the cool lock animation that the stock gingerbread or CM7 has. like the tube tv shutting off animation? Common sense tells me no but I thought I would ask.

I can't believe this has actually been done. I didn't think our dear old G1 could handle it. Well, according to the vid it does seem laggy, but who cares! It's ICS on G1 =D
Awesome work to the dev and thanks for posting. I'm going to go install it and report back =)
When I heared that Google stated that ICS should be executable on every GB device, I new that someone would do the port for the G1 ... Congrats!
I am quite sure that we will see quite soon a version which will perform more or less like GB on our G1, probably not with all features of ICS.

I should buy one of these just for the kicks., 100€ for a new unit on ebay, aaw, anyone willing to sell used unit in good condition for me?
Just installed it! All I gotta say is WOW!
Wasn't expecting it to actually turn on lol, but it actually works pretty nice. Not lagging as much as I thought it would. The rotation problem isn't that big of a deal for me personally as I usually use my phone in landscape anyway, but I can see how it might be annoying for others.
It scrolls quite smooth through the menus; in the mtd partition i set the cache to 3mb instead of 2..not sure if that the reason for the extra smoothness..???
Quick Question..If I were to increase the cache size, would it run smoother?
Anyway, I'm really impressed with the overall ROM. I still haven't tested out any apps, the phone, messaging...or any of the other things people would use regularly. Will mess around with it a bit more...or maybe a lot =P
I'm so excited haha.
Thanks again for this amazing release!!!
Good job man!
Cool, now I want to see No-frills run on it ;-)

Just talked to my DOS.... and looks like we wont be seeing ICS for the skyrocket this summer.. He said it was delayed.. so i would say maybe 3Q... but then again... he might be pulling my chain... wouldn't count on it tho. Sorry guys.. looks like we might have to do this one on our own!!!!
For my own personal sanctity, I refuse to believe you

It's bull**** honestly, I mean, the Vivid got it's ICS update, so why don't we?
Oh yeah, Samsung probably hasn't even started working on it. Last time I buy a ****ing Samsung phone, I should have stuck to my >neveragain.
Honestly.... Why does everyone care. ICS only brings minimal upgrades. And TOUCHWIZ is total crap. I for one aren't that bothered either way. I would MUCH rather see a good working CM7 or 9. That's where it's always been = AOSP with additions.

I agree. I think that developers will be able to whip something up off of the ICS build for the SII though.
Only reason i wanted ICS was for the CM9 Progress to maybe have a bit of a headstart....if we don't get ICS by my sophomore year than i might as well ship my phone back to Samsung for a refund and do some business with Klondike.

The main thing I'm looking forward to with ICS is the alleged better battery life/management.
Other than that, the videos I've seen with TW over it make it look pretty much the same as it does now, so I'm not sure we gain that much there...
I made this for myself. But I thought there might be another Oriole fan in the Android universe who might enjoy it.
Originally I did the black carbon fiber but last night I decided to make it more orange.
It's formatted for the 960 pixel screen height so it'll look best at that resolution. But a friend put it on his Galaxy SIII with the much larger screen and it looked pretty clean there without any pixelation or distortion. So if you're finding this from a Google search and you have a different phone, try it out. It should look okay.
Full disclosure, all of the elements are taken from the internet. (The carbon fiber background and the logo). I just mixed them together.
