i know the sensation was (or will be, rather) released running some specialized version of android with beats audio boost. is there a way to get this on the g2x? my brother rooted and installed it on his sensation and it really, really makes a difference. also, is there a better app that i could use for a similar purpose? i'm running PowerAMP but i basically hate it.
i'm really looking forward to using my beats with this. it sounded amazing on the sensation.
Search xda for DSP manager. Its an equalizer system. Its just as good as beats. Beats is essentially the same as Dolby SRS (and, personally, I think its gimmicky and cheap of HTC) . That said, I'm sure beats is gonna be using lib files and so on, and doubtful it'll work with LG. There are roms on the evo forum (my 'home's forum), with beats included, and it seems no different than DSP manager.
Jelive has a thread supporting DSP manager over in the evo themes and apps subforum, and possibly in other sections of xda.

+1. Although i've tried DSP Manager with all the other ROMS, and its seems that it is only really 100% functional with CM7.
Also the MIUI Music app also has a very nice Equalizer to amplify the sound...which works and sounds just like DSP imo.

I have a sensation and I was looking to upgrade my media player tobthe dre beats branded player. Is there a way to do it? Or would my best bet be to just wait for the ics update since ics introduces music equalizer into the os?
Sadly the sensation won't get beats audio MOD, as far as I have heard. But you can install a custom rom, which includes that MOD. But to be honest it isn't that good.
Is the dre beats app just like an equalizer on roids?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
No, Beats audio mod is an addon which is featured in the current HTC phones, the sensation is the one without it. But you could flash a ROM, which includes it. But I wouldn't recommend that, as it isn't worth taking a risk bricking your device, for something stupid as that.
Oh ok I have yet to root my sensation because I know HTC is building a stable ics update. So basically it'll be better to just wait for ics and use the equalizer built into the os?

Yeah, that is one way to say it
And one more question for you, and im out of your hair. I currently have a rooted evo I use it to listen to my music. Its rooted with cyanogenmod and I use a good pair of skullcandy headphones i keep bass boost enabled is that pretty much the same outcome to dre beats? I mean I understand dre beats are clearer but in terms of volume and bass?

Hey all,
wondering if i can put beats from rcmix or Beatmod on cyanogenmod 7.1 is it possible
Unfortunately, no. Try Dsp manager.

Personally, I don't really like DSP Mngr. I have uninstalled it and replaced it with Volume+.
Sadly no, beats is for HTC sense not aosp : (

The beats audio feature is integrated with the stock HTC Music player, and works only with that particular Music app.
The Music app in turn is dependent on the HTC framework to work which runs only on HTC devices, and is not open source like the rest of Android or CM to be precise. This is why it does not work on anything except a Sense ROM.
I hope that clarifies your doubts.
Beats really isn't all its raved to be, its basically a reduction on bass but an increase on treble etc there more to it then that, but if you use a combination of bass reduction on dsp manager, and use something like flat equilliser on poweramp it comes close to beats.

Probably but more bass does not mean better quality audio, if anything this would sacrifice quality to give more bass.
Make a backup of your current setup. Download the Beats Audio for any phone from the Rezound forum. Try that out. Also, DSP with Beats works well for combo EQ. You may try Poweramp or other music apps as well. The more you have, the more customization, but also a little hassle on remembering. Poweramp has the Beats and SRS effects included on devices with supported hardware.

I second poweramp. I hate buying apps but it is so worth the price. just make sure you don't have beats installed as they don't always play nice. It has a much better equalizer than any standalone app.
Hello to all, I was just wonder what sound enhancer people are using these days? I come from an Android device with DSPManager on it which would give extremely rich bass. Beats audio, although enhances my sound somewhat, is no comparison. I tried installing other EQ apps but they have no effect on my device. I think maybe the Beats engine is conflicting with other EQ plugins.
If anyone could share what they use or how they got it to work I would much appreciate it I'm thinking about rooting my device and uninstalling Beats with Titanium just to test it out. Thanks guys!
I'm pretty sure I saw another thread about this. As you may already know, Beats is just a bass heavy EQ setting.
I don't know why certain DSP programs don't seem to have any effect on this phone. The only consensus I've seen if that apps like PowerAmp work the best for actually tweaking the EQ.
IDK why lots of people diss on Beats Audio on their phone. I've tried most of these eq apps and Beats gives me the best sounding music through my ear buds than any other. JMHO

Not dissing, I really like Beats Audio. I'm just an audiophile and I love to tweak my sound to perfection
I would like to see DSP manager working on our One S because personally I believe it's the best

For gingerbread I use beats audio and for ICS I use DSP manager

How did you get dsp manager working, are you on sense?
Seriously nobody here uses poweramp? Best music player + equalizer out there. I found it better than dsp and very easy to understand what you are doing. You can also combine it with the beats audio and make an amazing eq for your liking.

Lol yea. I meant the HTC's user interface 'Sense'. The thing your phone shipped on. And yes, I am starting to use PowerAMP again and it works amazingly well. I used to use it on my old device in combination with DSPManager

I've been using Poweramp for a couple years and I love it. The options and the equalizer are outstanding. I was just comparing it with Beats and there is no comparison in my opinion. I am not sure what Beats does. A t-mobile sales guy told me it decompresses the sound file. Whatever it is I am not impressed and it seems like marketing hype to me. I would prefer to remove it. I just signed with t-mobile and I am checking out the service and the phone so I am not ready to root or flash. I have not even seen a way to disable beats.
It's easy to disable. Plug in a headset, go to Sound and there you have an option for Beats. On German One S it's name is: Klangverbesserung. I don't know the english name.

Thanks. I should have thought to plug a headset in and then look for settings. Eviently disabling it in the notification bar did the same thing although at the time the notification option was persistent. It is gone now.
BEATS
beats is the most powerful tool to optimize the music.. works with my gaming Headset and Bose in Ear.. Top Sound..
I just traded a watch for some beats headphones (studios) and realized the integrated beats thingy has no affect one beats headphones. If you shut it off the headphones automatically adjust back to "beats" performance. Idk what this concludes but thought I would share.

From my experience, Beats boosts both treble and bass, thus making it sound richer. It is disabled by going to Settings>Sound>Sound Enhancer. Just click 'no enhancements'. Headphone must be plugged in to do so. I leave it enabled in combination with PowerAmp for pretty good quality. Still not as good without DSPManager :'(
Started to use Poweramp before DSP was invented The EQ is doing a good job and for the most time i like the sound of it. In the first days of DSP I uninstalled it because it drained to much battery.
Beats is also nice, but i don't like that it turns on for every sound the phone does.
So i am finaly back to deinstalled DSP & Beats and using Poweramp only =)
Cause I'm currently on cm7 gingerbread and the dsp when playing dubstep on my sexy pair of 40 dollar headsets make my ears bleed perfect clean bass and cm9 and over doesn't have that crystal clear bass and wont play on most apps (ex. Pandora YouTube other music players.) Hopefully there's a fix

1) Delete DSP.
2) Install Volume+ by Meltus (works on GB, ICS, and JB).
also try the awesome beats flashable. you can find it in weekends mirror thread. it is a modified dsp manager for ics
I've tried beats audio plugin, volume+ and DSP manager on CM9 and none of them came close to the DSP in CM7. I know it takes a lot of time to equalize but if you have your mp3 tracks at 320kbits and get the audio equalization right, it sounds perfect with a good pair of headphones/earphones.
I don't know why they crippled it so much in CM9.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda app-developers app
I have tried Volume+ with Beats Audio drivers as per the recommendation of some other users here and it made NO difference to my music. Sounds exactly the same as stock, or the difference is so subtle I can't notice.
Don't know why everyone knocks the DSP manager so much. It worked marvelously for me and made some really bad phones sound usable. My Klipsch Image S4s used to sound amazing with DSP
Even without enhancements of any kind, music will skip/click when the phone is in use. That does not change no matter what player you use.
In school at the moment, so I don't have enough time to care, or wipe and reflash again for the 5th time.... Perilously waiting for the update to end all updates
I've never applied the Beats drivers.

Eh I'm using volplus but its not the same as cm7.1 but I guess I got to deal with it or use poweramp

in my experience, dspmanager was pretty bad on cm 9.1.0 (i mostly used the bass boost function) and on all three slight moderate modes it would sound terrible. i'm on wildchild ice (latest nightly) and dsp manager, atleast bassboost, is significantly better. before i used to just get a lot of noise, now atleast its cleaner.
well i tested volume+ other equalizer and none comes close to the dsp on cm7 i guess ill stick to poweramp its just others its not clear its distored or hurts the ears dsp on cm7 is just PERFECT i was wondering if i grab the cm7 dsp app backing it up using titanium backup and restore it on ICS?
awesome beats is not a plugin it is an app. it is a modified dsp for ics here is the link:
