Quest for boom car mount - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have been unable to fine a boom car mount to my liking for my 2011 Nissan Frontier and Tmobile G2x. I have attached a picture with my idea. If anyone has any better suggestions, I am open. As of now, I have a mount in the location just below the hazard button that uses adhesive. I like the location because it is easy to reach for music while driving. The adhesive is not very good solution as it falls off, especially when it gets hot in the cab.

Hypothetical carputer concept

OK, this idea is hypothetical, and I won't be implementing until I need a new phone (these things are way out of my budget).
I was thinking the other day that my HTC Universal would make a great car computer, with its 16GB SDHC memory card, fairly large 3.6" screen, qwerty keyboard (ever tried a stylus on the road?), and dual cameras.
I was thinking that the casing could be removed, and the motherboard mounted on the reverse of a "faceplate" to fill up the space left where my old tape player used to be. The screen could be mounted in a gap in this, and the keyboard (if it's a separate pcb) could be mounted below this on the face plate.
The connections for the application buttons (like backlight, camera and notes) could be re-routed to those kind of buttons you can buy at radioshack (it's **** smith for us Australians though). This would then make it easy to use things such as music and navigation software without playing around on the screen (start menu is hard to use with fingers, especially while driving).
Voice command would be a usefull feature, by allowing you to controll your device (including music and navigation) by a microphone, while keeping both hands on the wheel. This could be used by attatching an ipod video (5th Gen) video output cable, with the video plug replaced with a 3.5mm audio socket, and a microphone attatched. The positive side of this video plug usually connects to the 4th pin of the 3.5mm jack in an ipod, which supplies the video output, however, in iphones AND, luckily, the HTC Universal, this section supplies the microphone input.
The camera ccds (one 1.3MP and one ?VGA?) could MAYBE be extended with shielded (twisted) wiring such as that in LAN cables, so as to mount one in the front and one in the rear bumper bars. These could then be used as usual with the camera application launched by the camera button as reversing and manouvering cameras. It would also be quite usefull to be able to simply press a button to snap the number plate of an ancient diesel smoking up the joint or a raging hoon ripping up in front of you, to report to police (if you like to do that kinda thing).
I'm hard pressed to find a use for the light, although it could possibly be used to aid the visibility of the reversing camera (because reversing lights are never bright enough).
Now if only I was skilled at visual basic and owned an accelerometer enabled device. I'd put one of those G readout things like in the new Nissan GTR. (Sorry, I can't remember where I saw it).
Please post your ideas and suggestions. Also if anybody has any knowlege of data cabling and electronics, would extending a ccd's wires by 1-2 meters be possible?

[Q] Problems when riding motorcycle

Hi all,
Just love the Sensation - but some of the enhancements I have found also have a sting in the tail. Anyone give me any pointers for these?
When riding my motorcycle, I have the Sensation plugged in to crash helmet headset. Found "Not Another Call Manager" to give me phone auto-answer. Normally I have my music on, and when a call comes in it gets auto-answered. Every thing fine - yes, really fine.
Small problem is that when I get kitted up, I turn on the music and slip the phone in my breast pocket. Sometimes as I slip it in, the phone decides to redial the last number, alternatives are music switching off or selecting the next track.
I understand the music oddities - swipe left/right gets you next track and also pause is available - just odd that it does this with the screen turned off. But I don't understand where the phone comes in - I can't find anywhere that you can just swipe the screen in any particular direction to get last number re-dial.
I have now bought a leather wallet to put the sensation in whilst riding, but it didn't stop a "pocket call" first thing this morning, even through the sensitivity seems to be greatly reduced.
All comments, help and guidance welcomed

Check in the settings to see if something is enabled that would change the track if you shake the phone.
That seems to be the most likely culprit.

i have the exact same problem when riding my bike. the issue is that the phone will pickup the headset connection and freak the **** out and start auto dialing. Mine is worse, it will call and hang up > 3 secs of music > call and hang up > 3 seconds of the next track > loop like this till I pull over and unplug my headset.
The issue is with the headphone jack and somehow its sensing commands as if you have a remote plugged into the line.
i haven't found a way to stop it. Somedays i get by with no problems, while others I will have to pull over 2-3 times on the way to my destination

Great call! I have had this a few times too, but didn't realise it was the jack connector - I thought it was the act of slipping it into the pocket. Makes a lot of sense as when I use my bluetooth headset (not configured for the bike) everything works perfectly. May have to consider going BT on the bike.
However, once I am up and running I don't think it happens at all.
I have this problem but I don't ride a motorbike - I just get it when I'm walking along with the phone in my trouser pocket.

[Q] Looking for bluetooth music playback controller - handheld or wrist mounted.

Not sure if anyone is familiar with something like this, or if it even exists, but here goes.
When I go running, it's very annoying to keep messing around with my phone in its arm band. It effects my pace and concentration. Hardware keys are still annoying to switch tracks with because it requires more effort than I want during a run. I have two pairs of headphones, one that came with my Samsung Galaxy S4, and one off-brand pair I picked up from Office Depot on clearance. Both have a button on the cord. I found an app that is supposed to allow me to assign functions to this button, which seems sporadic at best in its functionality. Sometimes the button works the way it should, sometimes it doesn't.
What I WANT is something I can hold in my hand, or at least wear around my wrist that's bluetooth capable and allows me to control my music. It doesn't even need to be super elegant, it can have 1-3 buttons. As long as it works to play/pause, select a previous track / next track, and adjust the volume; I'm happy. It HAS TO WORK. I don't want something that works when it feels like working, if you can understand that.
So, with that, have any of you found anything like this or do you know of something that can fit my needs? I don't think it's ridiculous to hope for something that'll allow playback control while always working when I use it, so hopefully someone on here can point me in the right direction.

Newsmy Android Carpad - Screen goes dark When Car ( Peugeot 305 GL - 1987 ) Started

Hi Guys,
I recently installed a Newsmy Carpad on my 1987 Peugeot 305 and it works fine as long as I dont start the car.
I thought it was the alternator causing this so removed it and started car to see if the problem solves. No luck at all!
Then I thought some AC/ EMI interference is in wire harness so installed four bridge rectifiers in four power lines feeding the carpad, but again no luck.
I gave a direct power line from outside the car from car battery and started the car - no luck!
Today, in no alternator mode, I switched on the car, allowed carpad to turn on, then played some music and started car...music was playing with no noise at all, the screen went black, but when I placed finger on the player the mp3 playing jumped to several play points...so the screen is working even though I can see nothing on it..
The car has a contact breaker system for ignition. Im thinking of replacing it with a electronic one..Could the contact breaker be causing this issue?
Please help guys, thanks..

[Completed] CAT S40 - trouble with '' call in progress''

Hi,
I use the S40 rugged phone from Caterpillar as I break my ''normal'' phones over and over.
I'm very happy about my new aquisition and its roughness has been tested already (dropped it a few times from 4 feet: nothing apart from a few scratches on the aluminium casing and some scratches on the glass protection sheet).
Even watertightness was tested when kayaking (bag was full of water so phone was immersed in seawater or 2 hours approx) only headset was bugging : phone recognised a headset device while there was none connected, but that was fixed after a quick cleaning with cotton buds and alcohol. The rubber cover of the headset is not closing well so it's a fabrication weak spot.
My problem with the CAT S40 (maybe same on previous models) are two issues:
- 1. When plugging headphones, I can hear the conversation, but the phone's microphone stops working. Tried a headset with microphone but here too no mike...i can hear, the others don't hear me. ,??? Anyone ?
- 2. Annoying when making a phonecall: after having dialed a few numbers without problem, the next contact is selected. For some reason phone starts the call, but the sim card selector does not appear (it's like it's hidden behind other applications).
When hitting the return button and selecting once more same (or another contact) the phone opens a slidescreen asking to "return to call in progress".
When doing so, you find the ''select sim'' pop-up window, but can't cancel the call option.
Sometimes it starts calling, and you can't access the active phonecall, blocking you from hanging up, or even see who you're finally calling...
Very annoying! Anyone had this issue already ?
For now, I reboot the phone each time this happens, but I don't have time for this sh*t when working, so I really would appreciate a solution...
Cheers and thanks for your support
