FPse updated today (Oct 12): Issues with it - Android Apps and Games

The new FPse update is not as smooth a prcoess to update as usual, since you have to either disable your previous settings or clear data out to get the virtual controls to show up.
Another issue is the scaling options are gone, so I can not figure out how to adjust the display. It supposed to be able to be adjusted, but I have yet to figure it out. Everything is distorted full screen now on my Droid 3, Flyer and Thrive. I try to adjust it, but now controls show up. Tried pinch and zooom, in case that was it. Since not working on three devices, seems it is the app rather than the user..... Ok, it could be the user, but no luck on three devices.
Anybody figure it out? Scaled display is better, since no distortion and less pixels for the emulator to draw to (it is faster when scaled).

touchscreen questions

Can anyone who has installed a custom android type rom let me know if the touchscreen is better once rooted and reflashed. I am talking about sensitivity at the store two different ones now both units are just bad when trying to select something I occasionally had to hit the selection more than 2 times.
I am also interested in if this changes. I read that its hit or miss whether or not thr screen works as intended or has problems, leaving me to believe its a production consistancy issue.
Some love it and some hate it.

Sounds like it.
There's another thread about this which has a youtube video of one of the ones who said their's was bad and it certainly looked to be the case. In the video on the "home" "page" of the launcher when he swiped in the top half of the screen nothing happened most of the time, while it worked as expected in the bottom half. Mine behaves as expected wherever I swipe...
I'm not going to let on that it will be perfect, but when I moved to TnT Lite (I'm now on 2.2.1), I installed LauncherPro. Within LauncherPro, you can adjust the sensitivity and scroll settings that covers all the launched actions. Also, there's an entry you can add to the local.prop [go into adb shell and type: echo ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 >> /data/local.prop ] (requires r/w permissions to update). This change made it smoother (and quicker) to go from screen to screen.
There are still times where I press an icon and nothing happens for a second or so, but it rarely happens anymore with all the improvements that have been added to TnT Lite over the last couple of weeks.
I have had no touchscreen sensitivity issues to speak of with ZPad ROM. I am now running the VEGAn ROM which has really come together nicely in the last few days, and again the touchscreen is as sensitive in all places as I would expect it to be.
Any slowness/lag issues were resolved with the updated drivers that were discovered a week or two ago.
The stock TNT ROM has lots of software issues that are totally unrelated to the hardware. This is most likely one of them. I can't say for sure, since I wiped my unit within 5 minutes of opening the box and installed ZPad.
The touchscreen is still not as good with multitouch as it should be, which I believe is a driver issue, so pinch and zoom and similar multitouch action is not as smooth as it ought to be. But in general use, typing, swiping, scrolling, etc. I am just single-touching and everything works as smoothly and well as it does on my Nexus One phone.

[Q] Issues with standard android apps & games on Xoom - Any Solutions?

Hello,
I have noticed on certain standard android apps a number of issues that I have come across. I have tried with auto-rotation on and off of screen in settings. I have restarted my Xoom also. I don't have any of these issues with any of the tablet apps.
1. First off Jetcar Stunts, and Return Zero the menus are normal and function fine, but when you go into a race the screen looks like it is tilted at 45 degree angle. If you turn your Xoom vertical, the screen will level out, but you are looking at the car on the left side of the screen.
2. Several racing games TurboFly 3d and couple of others I cant think off of the top of my head work fine and the screen is in the right position, but to when you tilt to the left it turns the car to right, and vise verse the other way. The turning controls have been switched.
3. Adao File Manager, Adao Uninstaller, ishoot, and Medieval Castle retain their original size of an android phone. Is there any way to zoom in or have these apps stretched to fit the screen? The ipad lets you view iphone apps standard size and stretched size.
Anybody experiencing these problems, or have any solutions?
Thank you for your input.

Install "Spare Parts" free from the market.. Open it and uncheck the box for compatibility mode... Might not fix every issue as some things just refuse to run on HoneyComb yet but it should fix some of them. It will absolutely fix your last section where the apps don't fill the screen.
The problem is not you, or anything you did. The issue is honeycomb. Not all apps are compatable yet. It was like trying to run a win xp app on win 7 when it first dropped. Didnt work. Just wait. They will be updated eventually.
Thank you,
The spare parts helped with the apps that was stuck in their native resolution. It now fills the whole screen.
Yep... I'm waiting, too... seems Napster, SiriusXM, and my banks' apps aren't even showing up as installable on my Xoom - but they all show up on my Pure running XDAndroid! (waiting for July so I can upgrade to a real Android phone ).
I immediately put this all down to the fact that Honeycomb is so new, the devs didn't have opportunity to build versions compatible with it... yet.
But... this begs a question... I'd love to be able to copy the .apk's from apps I directly-installed on my XDAndroid port, onto the Xoom and see if they'll run anyway... but I can't seem to find the apk's. Being a noob on Android still, can anyone tell me how I can get a hold of these app files, or does the Market simply download, install, and delete?
Thanks...

Slower than my GTAB 10.1

For basic tasks like web surfing, I find the A700 actually slower than my GTab 10.1. I have even tried different browsers and the results don't change much. When I go into the TSN.CA video library (broadband link at top), I can click links and 29/30 times it does nothing with the stock browser and dolphin. It works fine with my GTab (3.2 stock). Scrolling with the A700 using quick finger strokes and there's a 1 second delay before it scrolls and I'm not sure if this is by design or not. It's sure annoying though. Other than the nice display and the quicker video decoding, I'm not sure this is going to replace my current gtab just yet.

Rob:
Haven't picked up an A700 yet, but on my A500 you can adjust the sensitivity settings for the screen. In addition, a few others have mentioned by disabling ring, and a few other non-essential apps, their lag issues were greatly diminished. Maybe a few others that have the A700 can comment on whether they have adjusted their settings.

I disabled the ring, but haven't tried much else yet. It seems kind of strange that the O/S is not optimized better than it currently seems. The video playback I have tried is smooth, but I'm also noticing inconsistent sound volume with this tab (all apps). Sometimes the volume is soft even at max, other times it's good. The very first time I tried the tablet the max volume was really low, like about %30 what it should be.
Rob
compared to my tf300 the a700 behaves like a brick on a stick. the OS seems cobbled together, is slow and unresponsive. Yes its helps deaktivating the ring and uninstalling crapware (Titanium Backup uninstall since they are protected apps...)
Bear in mind that the same hardware has to power a much larger pixeldense screen - though i find it interesting that riptide i.e. plays much as it does on my tf300 (ok its a bit more corny but thats thanks to the increased resolution)
but yeah - everyday tasks are much slower - moving smth on your dashboard around i.e. webbrowsing... etc....
this tab needs a recovery mode so bad - since with recovery we can flash custom roms - and a rom without all that crapware on it would go a long way for speeding things up - add some kernelmods and optimisations and this tab could go a long way - but sadly, we're not there yet.
so long

Sounds like you need to stick with your Galaxy Tab OP :good:

Touch screen sensitivity

Hello. I have an Nvidia Shield tablet k1 on lollipop 5.1.1. Everything is great about this tablet except the touch screen. It is really sensitive. Also, when I am scrolling, it "jumps" and goes faster than I actually scrolled. It scrolls faster than it should. I found this thread on xda. It helped a little with the being too sensitive issue, but scrolling is still really weird. This is my second device since the first one's micro sd card was defective. They both are like this. Is there anything I can do, or do I just have to deal with it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/shield-tablet/general/adjust-touchscreen-sensitivity-t2963326
I was opening a thread with this exact same issue. I'm not on stock though (using the latest CM12 nightly), so I don't seem to have the 'Sensor Calibration' option.
Also the touchscreen seems to register a touch even when the finger is not touching the screen.
On the other hand, if I scroll a very small distance (like 0.5 centimetres) the list I'm scrolling doesn't move at all. This doesn't happen on other devices such as my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 and is very annoying in some cases (some games, or moving the cursor for keyboard input).
I'll try to record a video of this behaviour.
What can we do to fix this?
Update: found a video (not mine) showing the issue I'm talking about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08uPtusOJHQ
anyone else with this issue?
I also have this issue on/off sporadically on stock rom.
I'll be scrolling and itll jump back the opposite direction
Its like it looses track of the touch then catches it again.
It's irritating as my S5, Nexus 2012 have no problems scrolling smoothly.
I don't recall the original shield i tested in store to have this issue either.
Currently having amazon ship me a replacement to see if its just limited to the one I received. (QA issues)
Calibrating screen might fix the issues: go to About in settings and tap on model number until the calibration screen comes up. then hit calibrate. don't touch the screen then when it asks to reboot, reboot.

Did it fix the issue I posted the video about? I'm on Cyanogenmod now so I don't have the option to calibrate the screen, but I would consider going back to stock if it fixed this issue...
Calibration doesnt help at all , same issue at brand new k1. Nvidia says thats normal functionality lol
Yeah, very normal for a gaming tablet which would require precision...
Not trying to take up for this thing but I haven't had the first touch screen issue with it . so maybe not all is affected?? I've tried to replicate the issue but just can't everywhere I touch and slide is smooth
You mean it doesn't "jump" like the OP said? I don't seem to have that issue either.
I'm more concerned about the touchscreen's precision, as shown in the video.

How to change Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 Resolution from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080?

How to change Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 Resolution from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080?
Basically they have this feature built in if you connect the HDMI cable to the tablet... then the tablet reboot in 1920x1080 and displays only on the HDMI screen (the tablet screen is off)
When you disconnect the HDMI cable it drops a notification every 1-2 minutes do you want to reboot back to normal 1920x1200 resolution and it keep asking till you agree and reboot.
My question is how i can turn it to 1920x1080 or just how to disable the notification that pop up over the screen?
I prefer not to root the device if its possible.
Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 working on Android 6
Thanks.
Hi, came across your question wile looking for a solution as well. I do have a work around for the constant ask for revert from console mode. But not sure if it works on Android 6. I'm on 5.1 still. Hate 6. I do the Console mode remove HDMI thing. Then I go on a rampage force stoping EVERYTHING I find running. I go to Settings/App/Running and force stop everything. Then the Show cached processes, also stop everything. (and I mean Everything I see, including all those google thing I dont need running at the time, tho most will turn themselves on again) Then to the 'All' apps tab and look for everything Nvidia/Shield related and force stop it. And it works. The nagging stop. I haven't figured out what is it that stop the message as I did this once on a rage for that stupid message and since it worked I do it like that every time. And I've play for well over 2+ hours without the message popping up
Oh, also, I don't have a controller but I have All-In-One Toolbox, that I also run to close everything after all the force stops. Just in case. Well with that app you can have a toolbar on the notification and add a 'Recent app' there. Which you can not only use to switch but if you tap it and then tap somewhere NOT on other apps you get send to Home screen. (Wish the add Home/Back as well)
I know it seems like a hassle. I only do this when I want to record something on Ultra and get 1920x1080 instead of that horrid 1728x1080.
OH! And the touch accuracy gets worst the closer you get to the upper/lower borders (on landscape) due to touch screen reading the 1200 pixels on a 1080 shrunk image. Takes some getting used too, but worthy to capture on an OCD friendly video resolution.
I'm on Stock 5.1.1, not root.
Gonna look for a ROM that can do 1080p and also keep the Navbar. And maybe even add 1 tap Screenshot/record shortcuts for the navbar. Old cheap tablet used to have that screenshot button on the nav bar. Which was awesome for quick snap at those special gaming moments.
Anyways, since you have 6, try going Settings/Apps/All and force stop everything Nvidia/Shield related. And let me know how it works. Running apps 5.1.1 management is one of the things that keep me on in. And how micro SD works.
Hope it helps.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I tried to force stop but it still pop up the notification to restore to 1920x1200.
About the Android 6, I love it Because of the SD format that turns your SD to be a part of your device storage.
I have a controller so i can navigate even without the nav bars
If i will find something i will update here.

Thanks for this post, it was answer to what I wanted to do with my tablet - getting full screen for HDMI output without console mode, which frankly would be actually worse even if it did't puck up with my Dualshock 3 (console mode for some reason closes/disables the DualShock 3 connection with the sixaxis app from Play Store) - when using Mirror mode I can use my Dualshock 3 fine and using terminal before starting to play makes the screen look glorious, especially with games like sonic 2 android or Final Fantasy IX android.
