Revolutionary comes with an recovery system
Take a look at this guide there should all be in there.
A complete tutorial for beginners & others
Or
use this, it's an outdated clockworkmod recovery.
Download -> rename to PG88IMG.zip -> put to root of sd -> shutdown the device -> (fastboot must be off) press & hold volume -, then press power till it boots -> go to bootloader -> follow instructions -> remove the PG88IMG.zip from sd -> shutdown the device -> press & hold volume -, then press power till it boots -> go to bootloader -> choose recovery -> done
or
shutdown the device -> (fastboot must be off) press & hold volume -, then press power till it boots -> go to bootloader -> choose recovery -> done
to use revolutionary recovery
thanks !
But when i do this, at the boot i have this message :
PG88IMG no image
image parsing
and when i go to recovery i have a warning sign and that's it
Let's try the other way, download the apk at this thread and follow the instructions inside the thread.
After this you should be rooted, then download rom manager from market and let it install the recovery for you

Hi @ all
I've bought a new HTC Desire S. It was S-On, so I used http://revolutionary.io/ to s-off it under windows. Then I tried to use Gingerbreak, but it just shows "rooting... running exploit..." , but it doesn't happen anything. I waited 10 minutes and nothing happend. No alert, no reboot.
Then I tried SuperOneClick v 2.1.1, but it allways freezes at Step #6 rooting device.
What can I do?

I have tried to install CWM on my HTC Sensation using the steps as outlined on Vipers guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300) after successfully completing the S-OFF section I follow the steps to install CWM and the HBOOT install completes successfully, so I reboot delete the .zip file then power off try to boot in to CWM by holding down pwr + vol down and it just boots in to the normal HBOOT menu and not CWM as needed.
Any help would be great. Thanks
Sorted it! I was being a fool!
You need to select 'recovery' in the hboot menu screen and that
will take you into cwm. Use the volume up/down buttons to move
the selector and power button to select it.

Hello
That's the guide i followed, I run the bat file put it into fast USB mode. It copies the file and I see a small progress bar on the hand set then it says completed successfully. When I try to put it into recovery it just boots as normal and yes I am highlighting the recovery bit in the menu the hitting the power button to select it.
put phone into fastboot mode (you know how already)
use adb command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
once successfully sent to phone, shut down phone then try again to access recovery (hold vol - and press power button once, scroll down to recovery) hope it helps

If you're having difficulty flashing recovery, you can easily do it with ROM Manager.
All you've to do is downloading ROM Manager from Play Store, open it and choose Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, follow the steps, wait and you're done. PS, your phone must be rooted before using ROM Manager. It will flash latest version CWM Recovery available for your device.
Please hit 'Thanks' if I helped you.
*Modify*
Sorry I read it later that your phone is not rooted yet. So you can first install superuser.apk by flashing superuser.zip from inbuilt recovery(you'll find the way in rooting tutorial) and then follow the above mentioned steps.

If your using a sense ROM, it doesn't fully shut down on power off. You have to take out the battery and put it back in before holding power and volume down to boot into recovery. If you can't get into the recovery, reflash it.

This was the method given in the rooting tutorial:
After unlocking bootloader,
Copy SuperUser.Zip file into SD-Card and then turn OFF your HTC Explorer (Take Out Your Battery > Place it Again). Then Press & Hold Volume DOWN + Power key to get into Bootloader.
Then Select Fastboot with Vol Keys and Press Power Key > When You are in fastboot connect your HTC Explorer to PC Via USB Cable
Extract Recovery.zip file anywhere on your pc and run the Recovery.bat file, wait a moment and you are done.
Now, after running the Recovery.bat file and successfully completing the above step press Power Key to get back into Bootloader:
Using Vol Keys > Select Recovery,
Wait until this Recovery screen is shown (It Could be in blue colour or any other colour):
Using Vol Keys Select Install zip from sdcard and Press Power Key > Then Choose Zip From SD-card and Press Power Key and finally select the Superuser.zip file using Vol Keys and Press Power Key.
And when it shows Install complete or something, you've successfully rooted your device.
From above method you've managed to install a temp. recovery from that recovery.bat but you need a recovery you can access without connecting it to PC but with bootloader.
After it, reboot back. Install application ROM Manager from Play Store. Open it when installed, grant superuser permission(just select yes when a pop-up appears. It asks root permission). Now follow the steps I told you before. You can do rest of the things easily.
However you can install a custom ROM(upgrade your android version) only by unlocking bootloader and flashing recovery. But as your warranty is already void now, root your phone and enjoy all features around.
Like you can install link2sd from Play Store. It can forcefully move any app to sd-card. So your memory problem is out.
Yes, now don't forget to hit 'Thanks' or you would not succeed.
I want to root my XT925 on JB 4.1.2 (fido). So, I follow 0mega1's method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118483
1. unlocked bootloader;
2. flashed epinter's CWM recovery
3. install supersu.
I have tried for 3 weeks, but failed.
the supersu is not installed, showing " no su binary, supersu cannot install it"
Would someone please help. tell me the process step by step. I am new for Android.
Question: after flashing epinter's CWM recovery, the phone in still in AP fastboot state, what shall I do? Just simply press the power button to go to the normal phone state?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Yes, press the power button to turn off the device; But Are you sure you have CWM recovery installed??
if yes, did you get the file in the link? It´s not install superSU from market, you must install via CWM the file in the link; I attached the file to simplify you the thing.
Save it to the root of your SD, turn off your phone, press both volume keys and power at the same time 2sec to be sure and drop the power button first and after the 2 volume keys; use - Volume to move to RECOVERY and pres + Volume to select.
I u have CWM Recovery it should appear, use it to install the file attached and you are rooted.

Thank you so much. It is done
I was at that stage too, but how u select -install from zip-? via power button? or what?
thanks
looks like my button were jammed,
1) Download Odin3 v3.13.1, Samsung USB Drivers , Download Latest TWRP.img.tar , Disable_forcedencryption patch,
2) Go to Settings App, Developer Options and enable OEM Unlock (If you don't see Developer Setings, go into About phone>Software info and tap "Build number" 10 times to show Developer Options menu).
3) Do a backup of all your important data and files in your phone.
4) Shutdown the phone. Once it's off, Power it On in Download Mode (Connect your phone to your PC, press and hold Power, Vol + and Vol - buttons together )
5) Open Odin3, go in Option section and untick "Auto-reboot". Once that click the "AP" button and select the TWRP tar you downloaded before, then press the "Start" button.
6) Once Odin3 finished to flash the recovery (you should see a "PASS" message), force reboot your phone (Press and hold Power and Vol - buttons together) and once the screen is off, press and hold Power and Vol + buttons together to boot in TWRP.
7) Once TWRP is booted you first need to decrypt your /data partition. To do so touch Wipe>Format Data ( you will lose all data ) and follow the instructions in screen.
8) Once it finished go back at the home screen and touch Reboot>Recovery. TWRP should be able to mount your data partition. Now flash the Disable_forcedencryption patch
9) You are done. Flash your favorite ROM.zip
Instructions from here were updated to be able to use twrp after Android 10 update.

Yes and doesnt it say there at the last line
Hi, this is just for switching from Stock Locked BL devices right? If previous instructions on the last post have been followed, then the .img from twrp.me can be flashed to recovery in already installed TWRP right? I have 3.3 installed so upgrading can be done from recovery itself, if I'm not wrong?
