Sorry in advance for starting a new thread; I looked around for someone who already had this problem, but haven't come across it yet.
As title states, my phone started getting stuck in a loop of restarting after I updated my phone to Gingerbread, then used drhonk's kernel to root it.
I have a t-mobile Galaxy S 4G.
Don't know what numbers you need, so here's all I can grab
Model #: SGH-T959V
Firmware: 2.3.3
baseband version: Y959VUVKF1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-t959VUVKJ1-CL611444
build number; GINGERBREAD.VUVKF1
Everything was working well, and using my data connection, I downloaded the apps I wanted on my phone from the market, including root uninstaller, to get rid of some bloatware.
Afterwards, I decided to turn on my wifi to see if the signal stregnth was any better after updating to GB.
Since then, my phone has been in a constant state of restarting, running media scanner, finishing media scanning, and then restarting.
I managed to get it into airplane mode, and that keeps the phone on, but as soon as I turn airplane mode off, the wifi starts back up and the phone begins the restarting cycle again. When I can get far enough into the phone to see the wifi settings, I have to deactivate airplane mode, and my phone freezes up when it tries to turn the wifi on, and I touch to turn it back off. Every try I've done, it restarts before it can actually turn wifi off.
Any ideas on what I can do to fix things? I would really like to have a working phone. >_<
(Also, the only bloatware I uninstalled that I can think would have anything to do with connectivity, was media hub. Beyond that, I just removed inception (This was an insurance phone, so the sd card didn't have any info on it), amazon kindle, amazon mp3, and t-mobile tv)
I am pretty new to rooting and flashing. I've been doing my research before actually doing anything, but I won't even pretend to be very smart on the subject. So please, help would be appreciated. Help, in newbie terms, even more so.
Thank you.
KF1 is really old. Try following my GB starter pack guide to make sure you're on a good ROM, and try flashing some of the newer roms, mainly ICBINB, Audiophile, Valhalla or Beautiful SGS4G. They're all based off of recent builds and you can even try all of them by putting them on your sd card and flashing each to see which one you like best.
If you're thinking you'd prefer to stay on a KF1 rom, I'd strongly recommend against it, since it's an early GB leak that still had a lot of bugs. Generally, the KH#+ builds have been a lot more stable. The latest is KJ2 now by the way.
Thank you so much for the advice, I'll go ahead and do so later today.

Hi, I recently purchased an HTC Desire with Telus in Ontario, Canada. Following a few days of regular service I got bored and decided to root the phone and install a custom mod. I am in no way blaming CyanogenMod for what has become of the phone, but it is nothing short of a frustrating nightmare these days.
The phone behaves extremely unstable, starting with random reboots, or inability to turn the screen back on following standby (having to pop the battery prior to powering the phone back on), down to constantly losing signal, inability to connect to WiFi, inability to send SMS messages. In fact, right this minute I am in dire need of sending an SMS and I am completely unable to get the phone to get a signal or send the message (the message either fails without telling me why, or gives me error 332). Aside from these problems, applications crash constantly, often simply unable to start-up.
I following the instructions in this wiki to the brim:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Update_Guide_-_HTC_Desire
verifying versions (straight from the phone):
Baseband: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Android: 2.2
Kernel: 2.6.34.5-cyanogenmod
Mod: CyanogenMod-6.0.1-Desire
Build: FRF91
I am at a complete loss here, and very frustrated. Any help or suggestions are HIGHLY appreciated...
I'll be the guy to make the 'obvious reply' since this forum seems to avoid making that sort of post =)
I'm a winmo user but from what I read, cyanogenmod android 2.2 with some modifications? Were you just bored of 2.1 and wanted to get to 2.2? Because there's an official update on the HTC site for that.
Otherwise, there is probably no setting or combination of settings that will act as a magic bullet and make the phone stable. If it's possible to overclock the phone you could try that, but even if that's an option it might make things worse. It sounds like strange advice since overclocking can also cause sleep of death and freezes, but I found my phone actually got more stable after. If you reach a point where you decide to get rid of cyanogen and flash a new rom, and there's some way to try OC first, you could give it a whirl.
I have three tablets. Not that I owe.. one is mine, another is my sister's, and last one is my cousin's. All tablets are on VEGA-n beta 5.1. My sister's tablet is doing some unexpected things. For starters whenever it is put to sleep it shuts down instead(not right away but after a min or two it shuts down). Second, both mine and hers are on the same network, but when hers gets 10 or more feet away from the wifi source it drops connection while mine still gets excellent connection. Third while on the same network, on hers only certain apps can access the internet while others cannot. Market was working earlier(downloaded Ti backup after reflash) but her Internet Explorer was not working. Now internet explorer works but market does not, even other internet explorers other than the stock one are unable to connect online. Lastly her accelerometer stopped working/was stuck. I reflashed and wiped all data, but nothing. Its still broken.
Should I return it? I have tried all the solutions that fixed some of these problems for me but they don't seem to work on hers. Any help please?!
Wow, its great to see that you all kept the G Tablet in the family.
1. Its an issue many of us have. We feel its software related since it started to occur after flashing the Vegan Rom.
2. Could be a hardware issue for your sister's device. Back it up, wipe it and try it on the fresh install and see how it reacts. If it works fine, then its probably something software related. If it still drops, then its more likely hardware. Return it.
3. Again, faulty installation of the Rom. Back it up, wipe it, and try installing it again. Also you may want to try TNT to see if its Vegan 5.1 related (btw, it doesnt use internet explorer)
4. I would return it if these issues persist.
Hope this helps. Anyone with other advice please chime in.
Thanks,
Scott
For the powering off issue, it sounds like the button might be sticking, on mine it forces the tab off if i hold it down for even a few seconds.
Also by internet explorer, i assume you mean the android browser?
Also is your cousins tab experiencing any of the same problems?
Mine and my cousin's are alright. Only problem I've had is flash crashing occasionally and rebooting. I might try flashing TnT lite on hers and see if there's a difference.
I have to head to work will update once I work on hers more. And thanks for replying..

I have been running vegaN Beta5.1 for a while now. Used to have similar issues with power and such. I flashed Clemson 10.9.3 kernel, it is now up to 10.9.8 and the power issues went away. It also has the lag fix, and some other nice fixes. It installs just like any other rom.
Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895825
Hi team,
hope you can help me...I just rooted my phone, did everything what was needed before flashing a custom rom.
I tried the Android Revolution HD 2.1 custom rom, and it worked fine, but once I made my first phone call, the process com.android.phone started to consume 100% of my CPU, the phone started to be hot, battery rapidly down etc. The only thing helped was the restart and not to make phone call. I searched in the different forums, I tried the USB debugging and also to clear calendar cache, but nothing...I flashed a different kernel as well (Leddroid) but no luck...still the same issue, 100% cpu usage after a phone call.
I decided to flash another custom rom, which was Leedroid 2.2.0...was hoping that it will fix the problem, but again...phone call and cpu on 100%...the strange thing is, that this time it did not do right after the first phone call, but 2 days later. Tried to disable all the synchs, usb debugging, calendar cache etc. but still got this problem
Anybody can help please? I would appreciate
Weird..
I've noticed my phone burning my leg while its in my pocket randomly when im not using it? Maybe a bug on HTC's behalf.Download fast reboot off the market and try using that to kill all the apps, its the best one ive used and normally stops it being so hot
Thank you, but it did not help...it actually kills everything, but as soon as I make the next phone call, the CPU gets back to 100% :-(
Anybody can help please...I installed a different kernel as well, but no luck...tried stock, Leedroid kernel and still got the 100% cpu issue.
Perhaps a full wipe can help. Make a Backup before.
Thanks MysthMob...I tried that one as well...used the SuperWipe from mike and from Leedroid as well...reinstalled the custom rom, everything worked fine till the first phone call...than it went up again to 100%
I was thinking of that it is caused by any 3rd party app...I have these installed:
Advanced task killer pro
Battery widget pro
Automatic bluetooth dongle pro
You dont need a task killer! Sense has one built in called Low Memory Killer
Good to know thank you...just removed, but the problem still persist...I am tired to reboot the phone all the time I make a phone call.
If you still have problems i would send it back for repair, Maybe it has a hardware fault
Do not think so...it was working fine with stock Rom...its just in custom Roms..but with all? I flashed back stock Rom and its working fine, but I want a custom one, I think I do not need to explain why
I will probably go back to the stock rom :-(
Mike is planing to release his 3.0.1 version, maybe he will include a fix...will wait till he posts it
I was having issues on my rooted verizon galaxy s3 running beans version 15. I would get a circle on data when tethering. I went back to root66 learned my IMEI and ERI were set to zero and now they are at 5 and the correct things...I have data I've had it 4g LTE that is and can tether just fine. I'm using my phone currently to ask this question. I cannot dial or send texts...on beans it just says dialing with no tone on root66 it would say no network available. My # shows my service is there...when I click LTE/CDMA in network it says searching and I hit ok. I don't know if that means it needs to search first or what...I really don't know what to do I have searched all day and done everything I know to do and now I'm just lost. I also did *228 and it said my sim wasn't registered then I rebooted and did it and it worked....so no clue what is going on.
Under phone status my phone said Service State: Out of Service when on root66 but now it says In Service. Still don't understand this.
Mobile network state: connected in root66 it was trying to connect randomly.
Phone #: Correctly displayed
Prl and ERI Version: 15211 and 5
Device State: normal.
Everything seems good : (

I'm having the same problem. I haven't yet gone back to Root66, because that is going to be a major pain (really REALLY don't like using ODIN and haven't found a flashable zip to use from CWM), and my phone has had trouble staying connected to a computer ever since I took it out in a snowstorm a few months back, so I'm nervous that doing stuff via ODIN is going to end poorly. This was after I flashed to Carbonrom 1.7, which is Android 4.2.2. Initially I got stuck on the activation screen, with no phone number, nothing, but after I switched my CDMA subscription mode from NV to RUIM/SIM, I got the phone number and PRL version back. Phone number now appears correct, and PRL version is 15223. IMEI still reads 0, though. I had an IMEI backup from back when I first flashed from ICS to JB, but restoring it doesn't seem to have any effect. I'm going to keep looking for a flashable Root66 zip, and if not I'll see if I can get something to work via ODIN (or see if I can maybe get the AOSP modem solution thing to work though the script I found didn't run) and report back. I don't do a whole lot of phone calls, and data is working fine, so it's not a hugely pressing issue, but I do want to get this solved ASAP. If anyone's got any thoughts or input, I know we'd both appreciate help. In the meantime, I'll press on and we'll see what happens.

I had an issue installing carbon rom too a while back but just went back to stock and then redid everything from there...this is my first time encountering such a huge issue that I can't solve on my own. Everything seems FINE now..IMEI everything was repaired and fixed. Odin takes around 12-15 minutes if you wanted to try that...How did you change your subscription mode? Maybe there are some things I haven't tried yet....if so I'd like to know how and where.

System Settings>More...>Mobile Networks>CDMA Subscription.
I had issues with Carbon 1.6.1, and flashed back to 1.5, which was great except that occasionally normal-pressing the home button would start registering as a long-press until I rebooted. Decided to try Carbon 1.7, then this happened. As I understand it, though, whether or not your IMEI gets borked is a bit of a matter of chance, not necessarily ineptitude on the part of a ROM's developer team. That's why you're encouraged to backup your IMEI before any serious system modification. Dunno why my backup isn't working, though... that part is what's most annoying.

That you can do. There are multiple guides out there for completely resetting back to stock, for situations like needing to return a phone to Verizon and wanting to erase any trace of your fooling around with OS components. For me, I seem to be completely unable to connect the phone to computer via USB, so ODIN is completely out. Thinking I might bring it to Verizon and see what they can do. I've currently got it on JellyWiz RLS13, which is based on the stock TW JB OTA, so hopefully that's close enough that it won't throw any flags for them and they can do some magic or something and reset the IMEI.
So here's my issue, my Galaxy S Blaze has been switched from ROM to ROM constantly, I have seen ROMS with modified build.props, other added features, and a bunch of other tweaks, you name it! I don't know what all those tweaks mean, I have no idea if it could affect the way my phone receives the signal but it got me so frustrated that I kept switching roms until finally then I went back to stock and am no longer am switching to another ROM.
Here's a history of the ROM switching I've made in the past couple of months:
1st - MIUI
2nd- Cyanogenmod
3rd- Gummy ROM
4th- Liquidsmooth ROM
5th- Cyanogenmod
6th- Dirty Unicorns (problems with signal started occurring right about here, and onwards)
7th- Stock ROM (hmm... nope nothing fixed.)
8th- Validus (still no, I didn't like the constant force-closing of many apps)
9th- Gummy ROM (nope, what's worse is my screen kept freezing if I had atleast 2 apps open and I slid down the notification drawer)
10th- Cyanogenmod (well, maybe switching to cyanogenmod will fix it)
11th- Gummy ROM (*sigh* switching back? Nope, still didn't help my signal)
12th- Stock ROM (you would expect it to be fixed right about here, but nope)
So what's up what is the exact problem with my signal? Here's the thing: My signal works! That's a start atleast. However, if I turn on my Wi-Fi while I'm home, I can still call/text people, all of that works. But after maybe 2 hours or so, the signal bar is still there, it's telling me it has signal and it's connected, SOMETIMES it will be empty meaning I have no signal(when I really do). But in reality, I can't receive texts, nor calls, none of that. So how do I fix it? By restarting my phone sadly, that has been the only solution for me for these past 2 months. People have complained to me because I don't answer my phone anymore, well I'm sorry my phone can't receive those calls due to this messed up signal. There are 3 other T-Mobile phones in the house that have no problem! The problem here is with my Blaze phone.
So what if I turn the Wi-Fi off for the whole day and see if it's the main thing causing the issue? Well, I did this. Turns out that the signal stays on longer than when I'm on Wi-Fi but it still goes out. I have switched SIM Cards, I have tried switching my APN: from "epc.tmobile.com" to "fast.t-mobile.com" but the problem appears to happen more quickly on the "epc" one than the "fast" one. Please help me with this, this has been frustrating me a lot lately. I'm not sure if anyone has even had the same exact problem that I'm having, I've searched online but haven't seen a similar problem.
Some of you might say, wow that is a lot of ROMS you've switched to, I'm sure there were more that I missed but that's as of recent. I can install ROMS correctly, I know how to use CWM when installing a .zip and using Odin when it's a .tar(or other supported file extensions). I've factory reset, wiped the cache, the dalvik cache, all before installing a new rom. After installing each rom, I've also factory reset and wiped the cache to make sure no other problems could affect the way the rom would work. Hopefully I did the procedure right, thanks for anyone who's willing to help me!
Right now I am running:
Baseband Version:
T769UVLH5
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-perf-T769UVLH5-CL990184
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Fri Aug 17 15:12:14 KST 2012
Android Version:
4.0.4
Another Issue is that I can't even transfer files to and from my phone when connected to my computer! This is another big issue, here are some images:

Here's what happens when I turn Wi-Fi Calling on but maybe it's just a built-in function that I forgot it had and it's probably normal:

By the way, sorry for the links just copy and paste them in a browser to and remove the spaces between the http :// and i.imgur, thanks! Unfortunately, I can't post links until I reach 10 posts. If the links don't work for you, I've also provided attachments.
Many thanks!!!
That last picture does show the proper function of Wi-Fi calling however I don't know what to say about the rest of your problems.

There are two things I would recommend trying...
1. Use Blackhole System Wipe
I know you've been following all the proper steps in CWM (and I would say to keep doing so), but I've added using Blackhole, in addition to the first steps, and I always get great system performance on my phone, and my parent's phones (I put them on ProvisionMod after stock was being stupid). It works well for pre installation for ANY ROM and helps prevent pesky issues. However, chances are, your issue is baseband related and this probably won't solve it... But still! You never know! It's worth a shot!
2. Reroot your phone
I know this will be annoying and pesky... but sometimes the process goes wrong from the beginning and starts giving issues later on... When I first rooted my mom's blaze, something went wrong, despite my following all the directions, and one of her partitions was completely disabled, no matter the ROM. I redid the process of rooting her phone (not from GB though... From the ICS stock) and fixed the issue instantly! I would try these two steps first and see if they do anything! Good luck!
